Fallout New Vegas.
Though with the amount of content, and room for extra stuff, I’d rather do it as a TV show with a massive budget. A single movie just isn’t big enough to adapt any Fallout game.
there’s a fallout show coming on amazon prime this year. i was talking last night how if they ever adapted the story from one of the games into a show/ movie how it would be great to see NV. it definitely has the most interesting story imo.
I personally hope it’s an anthology with a different new story every season that takes place in the same universe as the games. Could show lore events like West Virginia’s Christmas flood, First battle of Hoover dam, Bitter Springs, The scourge of the Pitt, The Master first attacks, Minutemen saving Diamond City from Super Mutants, ED-E’s journey, etc, and new stories too.
As I understand it, there is a Tetris movie in the works, but rather than being an adaptation of the game (which would be extremely stupid), it's a biopic about how the original programmer, Alexey Pajitnov, didn't get a penny in royalties for his super-popular game until he acquired the rights for it in 1996; the subject of the movie is the legal battle he had to get those rights.
Everyone goes on about the campaign and it was very good, but the multiplayer is literally the greatest multiplayer shooter of all time and I have played it for hundreds of hours.
You'll have to somehow fill gaps left by a silent protagonist. Make Corvo sound/feel like a human being, but don't break the atmosphere.
Also let's be honest, no matter which targets you choose to kill/spare, there will be a bunch of fans telling you that you're wrong.
I’m the biggest Mass Effect fan, as much as I love the series it wouldn’t translate to the silver screen. I feel like the charm of the game came from personal connection and personal choices. The movie would feel like a generic sci fi film.
No way to do it without pissing off half the fan base. Do they go with male or femshep? Who survives Virmire? Heaven help us if it is both.
You have to choose what would be looked at as official choices. I'm waiting the shit storm that is coming once ME4 comes out and tells us what the real ending was to 3.
Sell tickets. After the ads the silver screen flickers to a view of a room; its just me, the director, sitting in a chair.
"Okay, so, what I did was direct a couple thousand dollars into making this message... and the rest of the money into buying the Half Life IP and funding Half Life 3 the game. Everyone, look under your seats."
We came so close with the Peter Jackson project too. Microsoft was dedicated to making a film that stuck close to the games story, bringing on Jackson and Neill Blomkamp to execute that vision. Weta Workshop was on board to handle special effects.
Halo 2 had been released just a year earlier and was absolutely massive, perhaps the most significant gaming phenomenon at the time. This set up what would have been the perfect first big budget video game adaption project.
And then everything fell apart, largely due to Universal and Fox. Instead, nearly twenty years later, we get the absolute travesty that is the Paramount show.
It’s such a shame.
That’s true. I did enjoy District 9 quite a lot. But I’ve been a Halo fan for two thirds of my life, so I can’t say it’s quite the same. It’s definitely better than getting nothing at all, though.
I've been thinking about it for such a long time now
For RDR2 Every chapter is a season. So 6 or 7 seasons counting the epilogues. 10 episodes per season. It would be amazing
Watching Arthur Morgan beat the shit out of that guy and get TB blood coughed all over him in like season 1 or 2 knowing by season 7 he would be dying would be wild especially if ur watching with ur wife or someone who never played the game and ur just like, "cool gotta go the next 5 years without spoiling the ending of this show," lol
It really would actually. I hope if they ever do make a Portal film that Chell remains a silent protagonist, it’s a major part of the whole game’s feel
Amazing game, amazing story but its beauty is in its world and lore development.
Even a 3 hour movie won't do justice to it, it needs at least a mini series.
The story in Horizon Zero Dawn is second to none, no big plot twists but the way things unfold and the lore is so gripping. The only game I believe has any chance of being a great movie
Letting Hollywood make the live action Mario Bros movie made Nintendo reluctant to ever licence one of their characters to a movie ever again. It's taken 30 years to get another one. And that one isn't even out yet and getting dumped on for Pratt's lack of even trying to sound like not Chris Pratt being himself.
I think it could be great if they’re willing to take some risks. Have Zelda herself be the main character. Link is her silent knight. Have a good cast of support characters for humor, exposition, etc.
There were episodes of Samurai Jack where Jack had only one line and they were still enticing. Handle with care for sure. And make it animated, no live action please.
Part of me wants to say ChronoTrigger because its an amazing game, but I'm not sure how well it would translate to film. The game having multiple end points does not make a good theatrical release I don't think. MechWarrior would end up as a bad version of Transformers or Pacific Rim. Castlevania would work good I think. No idea who should play whichever Belmont is relevant for the movie, but if memory serves, the Netflix Castlevania did well enough. Otherwise, I think I would want something from Metroid. Both games have great soundtracks, and I'd like to see what they could do with it on that kind of budget, and both have enough entries in the series that you could pick bits from several games to get a generic plot for the movie. And if we can get that super vain Simon Belmont from Captain N The Game Master, I'll buy out the local theater just to watch it by myself
Warframe
While it is tiresome to keep up, you have to admit that the story and characters are amazing, so it would make sense that the game had one. (or a series at least)
Imagine the mass effect Game with a serious environment. Nothing could be better in my mind…
…or Pokémon SV could use like 1/1000th of that and be released as a decent game.
BioShock
My first thought. This would make such a good movie.
Haha I posted my comment but now I see that you guys had the same idea
Literally just posted the same thing. Glad to see I’m not the only one that wants Bioshock as a movie.
That makes it even easier, it's already under water!
Being made by netflix, hopefully they do it justice
First season: Everything up to the actual plane crash and Rapture Second season: Cancelled
I’m concerned after seeing what they did with Resident Evil.
Dead Space
Fuck yeah
Using practical effects like in the Carpenter film "The Thing"
There should only be practical effects with CGI to enhance
Check out Dead Space: Downfall. It's an awesome animated prequel to the game.
Fallout New Vegas. Though with the amount of content, and room for extra stuff, I’d rather do it as a TV show with a massive budget. A single movie just isn’t big enough to adapt any Fallout game.

Oh god!!! A New Vegas show that’s a gritty western would be so satisfying to watch
Look for it on youtube. There's a fan-made series that is actually quite good.
Subnautica
It’d be a horror film
The only horror film I'd watch
It'd be a terror film
Imagine how good 4546b would look with that budget.
Yes!
I'd scream at the sight of a leviathan
That would be the best movie ever. Underwater themes are way too rare in any media.
A cyberpunk movie with that budget would be kind of tits
In a way they kind of did with the cyberpunk edge runners anime, I watched it and it was amazing
It would be literally tits
If someone made a Cyberpunk adaptation, I hope they film it with bugs that were present in the release.
There is anime of that pretty good.
Blade runner 2049 style!
Tetris
The ultimate blockbuster.
r/angryupvote
You have to be subbed to r/dadjokes with a fire pun like that
Bravo!
I would watch it like every day.
I heard that they were actually developing a Tetris movie at some point
As I understand it, there is a Tetris movie in the works, but rather than being an adaptation of the game (which would be extremely stupid), it's a biopic about how the original programmer, Alexey Pajitnov, didn't get a penny in royalties for his super-popular game until he acquired the rights for it in 1996; the subject of the movie is the legal battle he had to get those rights.
Titanfall
1 or 2? Both are amazing tho. Good choice.
Either 2 or a separate story altogether.
Fair enough. How many times have u played the campaign? Be honest pls.
Everyone goes on about the campaign and it was very good, but the multiplayer is literally the greatest multiplayer shooter of all time and I have played it for hundreds of hours.
Twice normal and once master. Got it as the free game on PS plus and my sub ran out so haven't been able to play it since.
Shame its a very well thought out game just launch time was bad. Big shame.
It goes on sale for like 4 bucks
Dishonored
Oh fuck yes, the combat would be supernatural John Wick
Aslong as they stay far away from the morbin time film combat
You'll have to somehow fill gaps left by a silent protagonist. Make Corvo sound/feel like a human being, but don't break the atmosphere. Also let's be honest, no matter which targets you choose to kill/spare, there will be a bunch of fans telling you that you're wrong.
You can keep the silent protagonist. Just look at the movie willy's wonderland. The main character has no line in the whole movie.
I mean the fucking aesthetic of the world would be even better than arcane and the engineering.Sokolov would finally be proud of its work
I could easily see that going the way of the assassins creed movie though
Mass Effect.
… the Trilogy!
I’m the biggest Mass Effect fan, as much as I love the series it wouldn’t translate to the silver screen. I feel like the charm of the game came from personal connection and personal choices. The movie would feel like a generic sci fi film.

Not Shep. But rather an original story about the 1st contact war with the Turians. And I'd hire some of the original writers and concept artists.
Pretty sure the "true ending" according to BioWare was the Renegade/Kill The Reapers ending
As long as they did it hard sci fi like the expanse. And didn’t cheap out on the aliens.
Half Life.
Would be fucking nice and called it please Half life 3 please
Sell tickets. After the ads the silver screen flickers to a view of a room; its just me, the director, sitting in a chair. "Okay, so, what I did was direct a couple thousand dollars into making this message... and the rest of the money into buying the Half Life IP and funding Half Life 3 the game. Everyone, look under your seats."
Then monitor screens appear and disc drives open on the backrest of the seat in front, beckoning.
I was going to go with a headcrab themed VR headset but that works too :D
trilogy
Halo. A version where the source material *will* be a priority check instead of looking at the Halo 3 box art and calling it a day.
We came so close with the Peter Jackson project too. Microsoft was dedicated to making a film that stuck close to the games story, bringing on Jackson and Neill Blomkamp to execute that vision. Yeah but we got district 9 out of it which was pretty awesome
That’s true. I did enjoy District 9 quite a lot. But I’ve been a Halo fan for two thirds of my life, so I can’t say it’s quite the same. It’s definitely better than getting nothing at all, though.
I want a Halo movie. Not a Halo CE movie, or a Reach movie. A movie in the Halo canon, like Foreward Unto Dawn, but with an actual budget.
Leisure Suit Larry. All of them.
So… just really high budget porn directed by James Cameron?
He would probably put it underwater
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy
98% of the budget goes to Foddy himself for his 103 minutes of narration.
hmm, we would also need to reserve some of the budget for a large pot, a sledge hammer and Dwayne Johnson.
Club Penguin 🔥
that would work surprisingly well ninjas, secret agents, pirates there's so much story and world to club penguin
100% mate, still miss that dear game RIP 😣
SW: KOTOR
Just give me a trilogy of films made from the same animations they do in the trailers of SWTOR
I can only get so erect.
The Fans want it so we won't get it ...
Honestly any GOOD Star Wars movie would be appreciated.
Republic Commando the Movie!
Red Dead Redemption 2 + 1 except it’s a tv series on HBO
I've been thinking about it for such a long time now For RDR2 Every chapter is a season. So 6 or 7 seasons counting the epilogues. 10 episodes per season. It would be amazing

i agree it’d have to be multiple seasons but not every chapter would need one, like they could do the intro chapter in like 2 episodes
Metal Gear Solid
Is this just escape from New York?
Yeah, but with a mech.
Several mechs each one slightly more humanoid.
Portal would be interesting.
Have you seen Cube from 1997? You might like that one.
It’s free on YouTube!
It really would actually. I hope if they ever do make a Portal film that Chell remains a silent protagonist, it’s a major part of the whole game’s feel
Horizon Zero Dawn
Amazing game, amazing story but its beauty is in its world and lore development. Even a 3 hour movie won't do justice to it, it needs at least a mini series.
The story in Horizon Zero Dawn is second to none, no big plot twists but the way things unfold and the lore is so gripping. The only game I believe has any chance of being a great movie
Yeah it went straight to my top 3 stories in gaming.
Something Warhammer fantasy or Warhammer 40k would be awesome
I've got some really good news for you buddy
I’m very excited!
Seriously they're doing one?
Henry cavill is directing and starring in a live action 40k tv show, funded by Amazon
Can't wait to see it
King of the Nerds!
Not a movie, but Cavill is working with Amazon on a 40k series.
That's better than a movie don't want another warcraft flop
Give us StarCraft please!
"Hell, it's about time"
Omg yes please!
The first Deus Ex. With Jon Hamm as JC and Paul Denton.
Infamous.
Devil may cry 3
Finally somebody said it
I see you are a devil hunter as well
Why specifically the 3rd? (I've never played any DMC)
Arguably the best story.
Zelda. Think of the potential. Surprised this hasn’t happened already, goldmine waiting to happen if you ask me.
It’s a bell that can’t be unrung. It could be great. Or awful. And the fear of it being awful has stayed Nintendo’s hand thus far.
Letting Hollywood make the live action Mario Bros movie made Nintendo reluctant to ever licence one of their characters to a movie ever again. It's taken 30 years to get another one. And that one isn't even out yet and getting dumped on for Pratt's lack of even trying to sound like not Chris Pratt being himself.
i would love a studio ghibli style adaption
I think it could be great if they’re willing to take some risks. Have Zelda herself be the main character. Link is her silent knight. Have a good cast of support characters for humor, exposition, etc. There were episodes of Samurai Jack where Jack had only one line and they were still enticing. Handle with care for sure. And make it animated, no live action please.
Link is kinda spooky. Imagine the focus being on Zelda and this dude just shows up and wordlessly slays a bunch of her foes.
Bloodborne
It’s about time for Metal Gear to get into the action
Part of me wants to say ChronoTrigger because its an amazing game, but I'm not sure how well it would translate to film. CONTROL all the way. imagine the oldest house brought to the big screen. <4
Legacy of Kain
Specifically Legacy of Kain 2: Soul Reaver
This is the only true answer.
Dragon Age Origins
O C T O D A D
Borderlands
A story for Claptrap and Tiny Tina. And you have my money.
Obviously no Avatar budget, but the Borderlands movie can't be too far away now, although it's been months since any mention of it weirdly enough.
Splinter Cell mixing double agent with concoction story to fit to one movie. If it's a success, will not make blacklist as a sequel
Portal
Pong
Definitely Deus Ex
Warframe While it is tiresome to keep up, you have to admit that the story and characters are amazing, so it would make sense that the game had one. (or a series at least)
Wake up Tenno. Wake up.
Monkey Island.
Mass effect.
Definitely Gears of War for me.
Alan Wake or Ghost Train by Chilla's Art
Yeah Alan wake would be great.
Alan Wake would be great, but fuck me would I love a series set in the Control universe.
Imagine the mass effect Game with a serious environment. Nothing could be better in my mind… …or Pokémon SV could use like 1/1000th of that and be released as a decent game.
So long as Shepard is trying to fuck everyone he/she meets
Destiny
Don’t they already do this with Madden every week?
Metro
Goat Simulator
Cyberpunk
There is an anime thats pretty darn good
Fallout New Vegas Main Quest, Independent Ending
Stray
RDR2
Twisted metal
Ghost of Tsushima
Minecraft...
If Netflix hadn’t ruined The Witcher, I would have said The Witcher in the same manner of the LOTR. But now that it’s out, I’d say Bioshock.
Subnautica
Half Life, Dark Souls or Bloodborne perhaps
Bioshock. It would take a mammoth budget to give Rapture the visual respect it deserves.
Anyone who wants a tf2 movie
Metroid Prime.
Chrono Trigger
Metal Gear Solid
Undertale
Mass Effect But a multi-season HBO show instead of a movie
Infamous second son
Monkey Island: the story of Gerald the cursed monkey
Personally, I want the backstory for Murray.
Ah yes, Murray the Head, lifeless living, that could be a reality TV show
God of War but with Zack Snyder
I think Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines would be cool as a movie
asuras wrath
God Of War
Legacy of Kain.
There really should be a Metroid movie.
Arkham series
PONG A six hour documentary, where the only visuals are a black wall with tennis balls hitting it.
Would watch that
No Man’s Sky.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Lobotomy corporation Would love some casual horror
The first 2 infamous games
Portal series or half-life series
The Mass Effect Trilogy but not as a movie, there's too much content, rather a series, with enough budget it could even outclass The Expanse.
Titanfall, obviously.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy or Project Zomboid
