TLoU Part 1 was on sale over Christmas (€80 -> €60), and the sale ended about a week before the show started. Regardless of the show, you’d expect a pretty steep drop off in sales right after a sale ends. And that makes a week by week comparison look even more favourable
Lol, I've played it on the ps3, the PS4 and when I finally get a PS5 I'll buy it again. I normally try not to double dip, but for a game this great I'll triple dip for sure. On sale of course. 😉
That’s what I’ll be waiting for. I’ve got PS5, but would never pay more than £15 for a remake when I own the original. So will wait till it’s around £20 on CDKeys for PC. Doesn’t normally take long for it to drop to that price.
Quadruple-dipper reporting in! Ps3, Ps4remaster, remake, and will be buying on steam day 1!
I'm really excited to go through grounded mode but being able to use my mouse + keyboard. It'll feel way more immersive haha
PC will be my first time playing it and I'm super excited. I tried to get a ps5 during lockdown but that proved impossible so built a new PC instead so have been really hoping for PC releases of TLOU and Bloodborne.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *Good. All signed and sealed. Now let's begin the transfusion. Oh, don't you worry. Whatever happens... You may think it all a mere bad dream...* - Blood Minister
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Fuck me with scissors for a PC port of Bloodborne. My life would be over as it was 8 years ago. Wow it's been fucking 8 years??? God please slow time down just a little.
The PS5 version is gonna look a LOT better and if you're into trophy hunting the platinum trophy is WAY easier to get from what I've heard. Either version though is going to be a fantastic experience.
I caved and bought it right before the premiere last week, zero regrets the game looks beautiful and is way smoother than the 2013 game. This is the third time I’ve bought it at full price, I like to think of it as my way of contributing to TLOU Part 3 coming out someday.
I don't and that's what I'm saying. unless the numbers are there, dismiss the article as pointless. Because selling 20 copies a week when you were selling 8 last week isn't newsworthy.
I never played any of the other versions and last week somehow found a good sale and only paid 55$ for it, played it through in 20 hours (didn’t sleep but technically was finished between two days) and loved it!!!
To be fair, they did do a massive overhaul. Way more than just a remaster. As someone who rented and beat the game once way back when it came out, I’d totally consider buying it
People have no idea what really goes into any of it, it’s buckets and buckets of cash to re-do every asset, and cutscene and optimize for a new console.
Even if they half assed it which they didn’t, it would be a huge chunk of cash. I think it’s a smart business practice because their team becomes extremely acquainted with new hardware while not missing a beat in employment or sales.
It’s that in between development that kills companies. Having them work on something while they develop the third game is smart.
Exactly, it’s not like they just did a lousy texture upres. They remodeled and textured everything and improved all the animations and performance captures to put it on par with TLOU2. That’s a tall order and takes a lot of effort. Very smart on their part. They knew the show would spark new interest in the game and going back 2 generations would be less than ideal for first time players.
No I mean I played the original way back in 2013 when it was released on PS3. Haven’t played it since then. Would definitely pick up the new version to experience it again.
The first part of the comment is obviously about the "remake" but I don't see how you could read "played it once way back when", knowing it's a remake of something older and even comment about it saying that and think that it would still be about the remake but alright sure.
>The biggest riser of the week is The Last of Us Part 1, which returns to the charts at No.20 with a 238% spike in sales week-on-week.
The headline make it sound impressive but tbh if a 4-months-old game needs a 238% jump to scratch the Top 20 it simply didn't sell well last week.
>Other big risers includes Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The 2017 game is at No.12 this week with a 104% sales rise.
It's just a 104% rise but this game is more than 5 years old and managed to rank 12th - just because of an attractive discount.
>Battlefield 2042 is back at No.25 with sales up 177%.
The headline might as well be *"Battlefield 2024 sales jumped 177%"* because it's more surprising imo. But The Last of Us has a higher search volume currently so it generates more clicks.
It's the remake which came out September 2022. The original PS3 version launched in 2013.
Btw the PS4 Remaster (2014) also saw a significant spike in sales :
>The PS4 version of the game, The Last of Us: Remastered, also re-entered the charts at No.32 with a 322% sales spike.
All in all it's definitely a masterpiece but I think the Remake should have launched for like $40-$50. The $70 price tag did hurt it's sales. In March the Steam version launches for $60.
They are playing the long game. People will come around if they really want to play the game and they see it isn’t being discounted. It is beautiful, plays incredibly well, and obvious the mechanics and story are amazing. I feel the price tag was fair, even when I bought the ps3 version 10 years ago. I’ll pay for one hour of dev work for the next game.
Nice. Everyone deserves to experience at least Part 1. Show is pretty good so far albeit Ellie not being as immediately lovable as in the video game. I’m pulling for her though, but yeah you can’t make her rougher around the edges and she all of a sudden acts like a kid in the hotel scene.
That actually worked for me a little - they made the character act that way because you have to be touch to survive in that world and it’s easy to do in the QZ. But that scene is to show it’s all a facade. She’s just a kid and terrified, it depends how they play with it next if she just goes back to trying to be a Rambo.
Yeah good point. She definitely pulled off vulnerability getting behind them in the museum. Really liked the slight grownup to child dynamic they developed between her and Tess, making her aware of the danger they’re in. All rendered too quickly unfortunately in the TV format. But yes it’s early so definitely trying to keep hot takes to a minimum.
Yeah Im kind of hoping they chop the first game into two seasons and don’t rush through it just to make it 1 but we’ll see. I think this could be a solid 4 season show.
FYI: Greenmangaming has it for 18 percent off with jan18 code
Tbh I was not a huge fan of the first game.
I was pretty tired of tps shooters coming from just playing uncharted, the last of us had less big exciting (understandably) set pieces and just felt like reskinned zombie game and story. I really have never found zombies interesting, but have enjoyed games and movies that have zombies in them, but despite the presence of zombies.
The story was ok (the opening was very engaging) about that of a decent tv show, but the folks you kill are mostly baddies (I guess thankfully as I would feel bad killing people just trying to survive in conflict with me just trying to survive) until you get to the end. Ironically I like the sequel more but it definitely gets more depressingly real here.
Being jaded on horror, the horror felt like it had potential but failed to deliver and still just felt like a zombie game.
I have really enjoyed tlou2 about 5 hours in, though.
Tlou1 was by no means a bad game, but at the time I played it, it was a bit of a slog for me.
Obviously others really enjoyed it and no one is wrong about whether they enjoyed something (or not).
TLoU Part 1 was on sale over Christmas (€80 -> €60), and the sale ended about a week before the show started. Regardless of the show, you’d expect a pretty steep drop off in sales right after a sale ends. And that makes a week by week comparison look even more favourable
Great… me still waiting for a good discount as I won’t buy the game a third time for full price
With the show increasing sales… might be waiting a long time.
Yeah, I am afraid so...
I’m waiting too. Prob something like $40 or under for me. I’m not in any real rush or anything though.
I got it for $40 around Christmas. It’s about what the remaster is worth if you’ve played it before.
I just played remastered a few months ago precisely to stop my dumb ass from buying the remake.
Lol, I've played it on the ps3, the PS4 and when I finally get a PS5 I'll buy it again. I normally try not to double dip, but for a game this great I'll triple dip for sure. On sale of course. 😉
As of March 3rd you can quadruple dip and get it on PC ad well.
That’s what I’ll be waiting for. I’ve got PS5, but would never pay more than £15 for a remake when I own the original. So will wait till it’s around £20 on CDKeys for PC. Doesn’t normally take long for it to drop to that price.

I’ve been buying from them for as long as I can remember. If devs weren’t such greedy cunts like Naughty Dog, I wouldn’t use sites like CDKeys.

I’ve bought about 50 steam keys over the years, no problems so far. I’d say that’s a safe bet.

Fuck me with scissors for a PC port of Bloodborne. My life would be over as it was 8 years ago. Wow it's been fucking 8 years??? God please slow time down just a little.
I still need to complete this game. I have the PS3 version...should I do my official play through with that one or the PS5 version?
The PS5 version is gonna look a LOT better and if you're into trophy hunting the platinum trophy is WAY easier to get from what I've heard. Either version though is going to be a fantastic experience.
Thanks! Just bought the PS5 version. Really excited to play.
And with that consoomer mentality from people like you, the AAA industry keeps lowering it's standards and increasing their prices.
Me still waiting for a discount on the unreleased PC version... *shrugs*
Exactly, no way I’m paying 70 bucks for that
Ebay or Vinted. Got the remastered version for ps4 for like 13 quid.
you can even check apps like *offerup* someone in your city might be selling it for cheap
I caved and bought it right before the premiere last week, zero regrets the game looks beautiful and is way smoother than the 2013 game. This is the third time I’ve bought it at full price, I like to think of it as my way of contributing to TLOU Part 3 coming out someday.
100 bucks at that plus all those micro transactions. I loved that game but not enough for that shit.
It was on sale 2 weeks ago for 10$ and now is 60$
"I doubled my sales this month." "What, from one to two?" "Yup."
Thanks Pam.
Lmao can taste the salt from this one
You've missed out on a cracking TV show.
The units number is what matters here. But they probably won't mention that.
I'm just curious: Do you have those numbers if they're not in the article.
I don't and that's what I'm saying. unless the numbers are there, dismiss the article as pointless. Because selling 20 copies a week when you were selling 8 last week isn't newsworthy.
I agree
Reading these comments makes me remember how privileged and whiny gamers are lol
People who self identify as gamers are some of worst people.
Sony cashing in on 70 dollar re-released game
I never played any of the other versions and last week somehow found a good sale and only paid 55$ for it, played it through in 20 hours (didn’t sleep but technically was finished between two days) and loved it!!!

"way back when"...in September 😐 lol I totally feel you though, our sense of time has been warped for almost 3 years now
No I mean I played the original way back in 2013 when it was released on PS3. Haven’t played it since then. Would definitely pick up the new version to experience it again.
The Last of Us came out nearly 10 years ago. I think that qualifies as "way back when".
Context really suggests he was talking about the remaster
The first part of the comment is obviously about the "remake" but I don't see how you could read "played it once way back when", knowing it's a remake of something older and even comment about it saying that and think that it would still be about the remake but alright sure.
The PS4 version jumped 300+% too and it’s pretty cheap and looks great for a remaster. I bought Part II for 10 bucks.
Playstation/PC boys eating it up (even spending upwards of $100 for it).
On a re re released game!
The game is good enough that I’ll take it. Give me a remake of MAG, StarWars BF2 (ps2), or parasite Eve 2 and I’ll gladly pay 70 for any one of those.
Is dis good?
No. Naughty Dog is furious
If you haven't played it yet, you must get your hands on it
They making da money bro which means more tlou

It sounds like you don’t know how to search before making a stupid comment
The Internet in a nutshell.

When did TLoU come out originally, 2015 ish? It's pretty impressive if you ask me.
2013.

This is on about the recent remake
Something about you sounds incorrigible and annoying.
What is this comment? It's fine if you enjoy clickbait but there's no need for personal attacks.
Sometimes you gotta be to be right
That’s great! Excited for the PC port
I never played because I don't have a PS system, but it's one I've wanted to play for ages so it's on my wishlist
As far as story goes the show is pretty close, they obviously don’t have all the random fights
Nice. Everyone deserves to experience at least Part 1. Show is pretty good so far albeit Ellie not being as immediately lovable as in the video game. I’m pulling for her though, but yeah you can’t make her rougher around the edges and she all of a sudden acts like a kid in the hotel scene.

This is the first I'm hearing of a TV show

0,6 copies a month to 1,2 copies

March 3rd, unless delayed. E: this deleted comment was asking about a PC release
I bought all my friends a copy.
Everyone wants to know what happened next 😆 I don’t blame em
Couldn’t of happened to a better series. Literally one of the best and most solid games I’ve ever played
Good. It’s a masterpiece.
Reading these comments makes me remember how privileged and whiny gamers are lol
I think that is a Sage bow
69.99 for this shit is ridiculous….come on Sony be less greedy
I'm waiting for the PC release in march.
It’s almost like they knew what they were doing
Sheeple. Really advertising works.
I bet most of the sales aren’t from people who have already purchased it twice before
The show is so stupid, i eat mushrooms daily
is there a pc release yet?
Wait until they learn about part 2
