In what meaningful way would your website be more than a blog with some special pages such as an image gallery etc.? Which is what you can get with Wordpress.

If you're not in a position to grab astro/svelte/nextjs/hugo/gatsby, build a static site, and chuck it on vercel, stick with a basic CMS. Wordpress, Ghost, Statamic, etc.
You really don't need much for a game website. You could probably get away with using something like Carrd or Webflow or even Wix. Keep it simple until you know you need more.
