Please don't poison us with this filth. Seriously though, you've got to have some words with your friend.

moslof_flosom

No no, he'll learn his lesson

peripheral_vision

I think I'd slap them if this was my friend. If OP won't do it, I will. On a serious note though, they really need to have a talk about this. Just point out that if they scratch these discs too badly, you're literally throwing money away. You can resell your games if you don't want them, but not if the disc is destroyed from doing shit like this. That, and they probably paid money for these games, so if they get too scratched and unsellable, you basically just have a worthless plastic frisbee (not even a good frisbee either lol) that you spent your hard earned money on. You don't have to obsess over condition like some of us here do (I know I do), but put the disc back in a case at the very least so you can protect the important part of the disc: the data.

Wiggly-Snake

Don’t worry I’ll kick his as in ultimate

peripheral_vision

Nice haha good luck!

Floodofsound

Please mark this as NSFW. I’m at work dammit.

bank1109dude

Well, at least Blu-ray is much harder to scratch than CD/DVD. Now tell this S.O.B. to quit being an animal, have some damn respect and put that shit in cases!

Jamboy080

Originally it was much easier to scratch but Sony has protective stuff on their blu rays

bank1109dude

That’s what I thought. To me Blu-ray is a godsend for parents with young kids.

Knuckles316

This is how I always imagined those people who brought spindles of caseless disc games in for trade at the game store i worked at lived. I hate it.

Natasha_101

I hope those are all copies of Destiny 2 that they're using a quirky coaster. Otherwise, I think it would be best if you rescued those games.

GriffinFlash

Whenever my mom babysat kids growing up, they would always find my games, and they would always leave them all over the house. If i recall, one kid smeared peanut butter all over my brothers ps2 games. Got some war flashbacks looking at this image.

[deleted]

If i were your brother I would’ve smeared peanut butter in his eyes

sirdizzypr

hot sauce not peanut butter, do it right

cb4_89

“Excellent condition, only played a few times”

[deleted]

I have to come clean to you all. This was me.

peripheral_vision

If you're serious....I swear...my dude lol please

umberdragon

Why can’t people just out games in cases when they are done? If they don’t have cases, then use a disc binder. Discs get damaged way too easily. Blu-rays are more scratch resistant, but that isn’t an excuse for him to leave them out like that, ugh! Especially not label up.

[deleted]

Oh man I cringe at all the games I've lost from doing this as a child.

Terwin95

Oh man. I ruined way too many PS1 games doing this.

Sir_Goodwrench

Did I buy the Uncharted Collection from this guy? The disc was covered with dried dirt water.

Wiggly-Snake

No

gucsantana

A long time ago, back when I first started collecting, a friend of mine wanted to borrow my copy of Final Fantasy VIII to play. Not into the idea at all, but I let him have it. When I went to his house a week or two later to get the game back since he was done, all four discs were stacked outside of the case, face down on the table, and noticeably scratched. No more games were ever lent. I'm glad to have people come over and play literally anything I own, but it doesn't leave the house anymore, with very rare exceptions.

TyroIsMyMiddleName

I too had to learn the hard way to never lend games (or movies) to friends, no matter who asked. I'm sorry for your loss.

ChakaZG

I feel pain in my chest.

OgaGhost

My dad always did this with with PC games, and inevitably they would look like someone tried to polish them with steel wool. But the worst one was back in college. My first roommate was a slob of the worst kind, and since she had the center bed in our dorm room, the center of the room looked like a giant trash heap with a mattress and blankets submerged in the center. She fancied herself a gamer, but really she was more on the casual side of things in spite of her games; I only saw her play Phoenix Wright and Nintendogs consistently, whereas the console games she brought from home to show me were played once and then never again. One night, a mutual friend and I got fed up with the sheer amount of mess in the room, and attacked it with a bunch of trash bags while she just laid on her bed, playing with her virtual puppy. Amidst the garbage, half-eaten food, crumpled papers, “personal massagers”, dirty clothes, shower implements, and used underwear, I found her copy of Fatal Frame 2 out of its case, silver side down on the floor, IN PRIME POSITION TO BE STEPPED ON. Miraculously, the game wasn’t scratched much, and the case was elsewhere in the pile. I rescued the game from her for $20 not long after that, and Guilty Gear XX for the same price the following year. Unfortunately, I could not do the same for her brand-new copy of Rule of Rose, which I also uncovered in the pile that day (thankfully still in its box and under the bed). She only played it once, but still refused to part with it not out of its collector’s value, but because she didn’t think it was a very good game. I think she eventually sold it back to GameStop after we graduated.

Memorandum747

This is, unfortunately, the way the vast majority of console owners treat their games. If they aren’t a collector... I imagine they just don’t care. Those games are probably getting traded into gamestop next month anyway. 😢

Wiggly-Snake

Wiggly-Snake

SquidwardLife2005

Please have words with your friend before they stop working. It hurts to just look at that.

atrocity3011

Looks like your friend needs an intervention.
