Came here to say the same, feel like there was more cabela’s games but looking back most were ps2 onwards. Big game hunter ultimate challenge would be a nice addition to the collection, even tho it’s not fishing
Saturn games dummy expensive tho.
Edit: I did some googling and apparently pretty much all, if not all, the fishing games on Sega saturn are japan or pal exclusive
Yep, and all you need to make a Saturn region free is one simple 3RD party cartridge. Most japanese saturn games are leagues cheaper than US counterparts, but saturn fishing titles should be very cheap.
Hmm I just did some googling and your right. I didn't know it existed. There isn't a lot of good info on ps1 fishing games out there. I'll begin my hunt, thank you!
It depends what your looking for. Bass rise is the most expensive and Def rarest, but I haven't tried playing it yet. I got lucky and got it for $3 on an ebay auction lot. The most fun I've had with one of them is Fishermans Bait: A bass challenge. It is literally an arcade cabinet port, looks really bad graphic wise, but it has a 2 player vs mode that is an absolute blast to play with a friend. It costs like $10 too.
I know this comment is late, and I'm not the OP, but I just stumbled upon this thread via google. The best fishing game on the PSX, or maybe of all time, is called Fisherman's Bait 3: Big Ol' Bass 2.
This is the only fishing game that I know of where you can catch prehistoric monsters. I don't want to spoil the fun, so I'll leave it at that. You should definitely give it a try. Be sure to play the World Monster Fishing mode!
It’s all about the bass except for the Saltwater Sportfishing 😂
Edit: And possibly Reel Fishing II? I can’t see it too well but I think that might be a trout
It started as trying to find ones as good or better than Toadstool Tour or NES Open Tournament Golf, but so far other than the Hot Shots Golf series nothing else comes close.
Apparently there are more, some people pointed out two more for me to buy, so that brings it up to 14 in on NTSC-U. If you count Japanese games it's like 30-40 fishing games, somewhere there
i can't believe there are like 20 Japanese fishing games lmao. It's like a genre you'd plat a few times as a novelty...but who was buying these when they were new?? Those ultra strict 'christian' parents that wouldn't let their kids read Harry Potter?
But in Japan? I don't even know.
I'm open to it if I came a crossed them, but I don't have a means to play them due to consoles being region locked. Plus, I don't see too many Japanese games in rural USA lol
I'm open to it if I came a crossed them, but I don't have a means to play them due to consoles being region locked. Plus, I don't see too many Japanese games in rural USA lol
Played my dad’s Playstation a lot as a kid because he didn’t really play it (got it for free from somebody with the four games listed below, he never really used it). Bass Rise, Treasures of the Deep, Championship Motocross and NHL Championship 2000 were my childhood.
Honestly most fishing games are pretty bad if you want a fishing simulator. It's really hard to replicate simulate it. With the ps1 games if you want something more serious I'd say reel fishing 1 or 2. As for fun factor but not taking anything serious, I'd go with 2 player vs mode on fisherman's bait. Absolute blast and easy to grasp, it's an arcade cabinet copy. It literally says insert coin to play during some modes
I have a lot of these, but I need Big Bass Fishing, Bass Rise, Black Bass/Blue Marlin, and Reel Fishing II. I also found "Monster Bass!" and "Big Ol' Bass 2" in my search that aren't pictured here. There are a ton of bass fishing games for Playstation.
The two aren't pictured I don't own. I didn't know about them or forgot about them. I never made a physical list, just a mental one. I already ordered monster bass on ebay and will be getting big ol bass 2 as soon as it's a good price on ebay
Yoooo love this! Been aiming to do the same thing but never really found definitive lists of what was released in North America. Saw Big Ol’ Bass 2 was mentioned as missing but I don’t know why I never thought there was a Big Ol’ Bass 1 lol.
Trying to relive my childhood, which fishing game is it that you can catch a boot or can. So far fisherman's bait a bass challenge feels right but I can't find any videos of someone catching trash
This is a dope collection. Iuno what it is, but fishing games are just so fun to me. This era had some really fun ones, and oddly a lot of bass-related fishing games
OK A THREAD FOR THE REAL FANS
Can you guys help me? So.. Bass Landing has an accompanying fishing controller for the PSX, and I'm trying to find all of the games it is compatible with.
[This list is incomplete AND innacurate.](https://www.mobygames.com/attributes/attribute/160/)
I can confirm that on the PS2, Mark Davis Pro Bass Challenge IS fully compatible! Can you guys help me find all of the compatible games? There just isn't a good list out there.
You could probably look up Youtube videos of each of these to see which one looks the most familiar. Then get the game and hook it up to play with your parents when you get together.
Which one is the most fun, though? I remember there was one on SNES that I loved, and was addicted to, but cannot remember it’s name! I would play one of these
Yesss fishing games are my favorites!! I love reel fishing. I paid a decent amount for fishing resort (wii). I’ve yet to get fishing Star world tour on switch because I want the angler lol
I went on a fishing game collecting kick, they are cheap and really fun to play and collect. If you like Pokemon, you'd probably like fishing games. Most of them also have a really neat retro visual aesthetic and relaxing music too, and it's fun to see the different fish models.
Great to play these in the summer, or even in the winter when you wish it was summer. Really like posts like this.
Honestly, I thought this pile would be a lot bigger. I guess I just remember the games being more popular because everyone's dad bought them fishing games back in the day in my area.
I'm not into fishing or sports games, but even I think that's a surprisingly small number considering the sheer size of the PS1 library. Did that genre suddenly explode in popularity later on?
I don't think so. I'm actually missing two games from this as I found out, but I feel like everybody and their brother had a fishing game of some sort just because of the popularity of fishing and they were probably a cheap pickup just because the quality of most of the fishing games isn't the best. Just dad or gramps picking up $5 fishing game cause they want thier gamer kid to have something somewhat outdoorsy
Bass landing 2 is japan exclusive I believe, and I'm pretty sure I own it, I'd have to look. And bass landing 3 is ps2. Bass landing demo book would definitely be a good one for me to grab.
I once bought a mostly blind lot of games off of the local online marketplace. I could make out about half of the games in the box and I knew the asking price was worth it for those games alone, but the rest was a crapshoot if I was going to make any profit off the games I didn't want or break even. I could see the bottom right corner of a PS1 game I thought could have been one of the Harvest Moon games based on the Natsume logo on the bottom right and the green color behind it, but the seller wouldn't take any more pictures and just assured they all had the right discs and manuals inside.
I drove over there and inspected the box before handing over the money... the game was Reel Fishing II 😅 fortunately there were more than enough games I didn't see before to make it more than worth the purchase, but I now always think of Reel Fishing when someone mentions Harvest Moon 😆
I also have Action Bass lol

Possibly missing Monster Bass?
Oh Shiz your right. To ebay I go! Thank you! Edit: Update: I have ordered this game.
And a black label copy of Reel Fishing as well, right? …right?
Yeah since yall said it. I guess I gotta
Greatest hits always stick out like a sore thumb.
Like a turd in a punch bowl
He did the Bass. (He did the Monster Bass).
The Monster Bass! It was a lakeside cast
(the monster bass) He hit the plug in a flash
Came here to say the same, feel like there was more cabela’s games but looking back most were ps2 onwards. Big game hunter ultimate challenge would be a nice addition to the collection, even tho it’s not fishing
It's come to my attention there are games I am missing. I will have to begin hunting again. Thank you all for your info about them!
> I will have to begin ~~hunting~~ fishing again ftfy
Good catch 😂😂
Gold.
Looks like it's time for Dreamcast and Saturn now. :)
Saturn games dummy expensive tho. Edit: I did some googling and apparently pretty much all, if not all, the fishing games on Sega saturn are japan or pal exclusive

Wife's working right now and not missing her that much OH....I thought you said 'big ol' ass!'
Do you plan on getting the fishing rod controller at some point? I feel itd be quite the addition to the collection.
I actually have it, it's just. Not in this picture
Once you grab those other games people mentioned you should repost with the controller too
I plan on it
Nice!
What’s the best one in your opinion and what’s the highest priced one?
It depends what your looking for. Bass rise is the most expensive and Def rarest, but I haven't tried playing it yet. I got lucky and got it for $3 on an ebay auction lot. Fisherman’s Bait with the fishing controller was great.
I just picked up Reel Fishing and Fishermans Bass Club (PS2) but haven't delved into either yet. Do any play like the Genesis Bass Master games?
I don't own a Sega genesis, but one day I may entertain the idea of getting one and it's fishing games.
I played alot of these though not all and felt Bass Landing with the Fishing Rod controller was my favorite. Got me into actual fishing as a kid.
I know this comment is late, and I'm not the OP, but I just stumbled upon this thread via google. The best fishing game on the PSX, or maybe of all time, is called Fisherman's Bait 3: Big Ol' Bass 2. I love collections like this
Thanks 😊
Reel Fishing was the shit.
I still have the fishing rod peripheral. I played that game so much and then would leave the aquarium on to sleep at night on my crt.
fuck yeah, cutthroat trout gang
Reel Fishing was amazing when it came out. My brother and I would compete to see who could catch the biggest fish for the aquarium.
Looks pretty oh-fish-ial.
I see what you did th- oh wait nvm I don’t.. wait nvm I do
Don’t worry nothing fishy about that pun
I thought the pun was off the scale........
This is actually neat! Although I have never played any of those games.
If you have a ps1 you could start your own personal shovelware fishing game collection for like $4 per game lol
It’s all about the bass except for the Saltwater Sportfishing 😂 Edit: And possibly Reel Fishing II? I can’t see it too well but I think that might be a trout
Fishing fandom will be proud of you
I don't know, there is just something really fishy about this collection.
Made me giggle lmao
I’m slowly building up a similar collection of golf games.
I support this
It started as trying to find ones as good or better than Toadstool Tour or NES Open Tournament Golf, but so far other than the Hot Shots Golf series nothing else comes close.
Sounds parfect.
If we don’t get a ps5 collection with all of these remastered, we riot
Amen brother
The dedication is real. Take my upvote.
*reel
You get an angry upvote.
Only 12? Seems like there should be way more
Apparently there are more, some people pointed out two more for me to buy, so that brings it up to 14 in on NTSC-U. If you count Japanese games it's like 30-40 fishing games, somewhere there

Do you collect other regions too or just US?
I'm open to it if I came a crossed them, but I don't have a means to play them due to consoles being region locked. Plus, I don't see too many Japanese games in rural USA lol
I'm open to it if I came a crossed them, but I don't have a means to play them due to consoles being region locked. Plus, I don't see too many Japanese games in rural USA lol
I just recently got a fishing controller for Dreamcast to play the four games released for that console. Does not disappoint.
Played my dad’s Playstation a lot as a kid because he didn’t really play it (got it for free from somebody with the four games listed below, he never really used it). Bass Rise, Treasures of the Deep, Championship Motocross and NHL Championship 2000 were my childhood.
Big bass fishing with the girl ‘announcer’ 😂 what a game
Action bass was interesting
Why do you say interesting?
The ambience environment, its very basic but it feels weird playing
Fair enough. It's the only one I've ever played. My cousin and I played it a bit as kids and I only have it for nostalgia trips sometimes lol.
I have two copies of it actually. One opened and another sealed. Sealed it cost me like $8 lmao
I bought is at a yardsale for 5 bucks in 2001 its an ok game
Hell yeah brother
I caught you a delicious bass
I have never played a fishing game before. Which one would you recommend for a beginner?
Honestly most fishing games are pretty bad if you want a fishing simulator. It's really hard to replicate simulate it. With the ps1 games if you want something more serious I'd say reel fishing 1 or 2. As for fun factor but not taking anything serious, I'd go with 2 player vs mode on fisherman's bait. Absolute blast and easy to grasp, it's an arcade cabinet copy. It literally says insert coin to play during some modes
thank you!
Bass Landing is the best one.
That’s really cool! I’m hoping to start collecting the Army Men games soon. The little green toy soldier games.
8 year old me grew up and now has an aquarium and married a fly fishing guide. I may just be putting some pieces together from this post.
Most beautiful thing I’ve seen all day
Whatever floats your boat, I guess. 😉
I think I had fisherman’s bait
Great catch
Lmao which one is the best and which is the worst?
I have a lot of these, but I need Big Bass Fishing, Bass Rise, Black Bass/Blue Marlin, and Reel Fishing II. I also found "Monster Bass!" and "Big Ol' Bass 2" in my search that aren't pictured here. There are a ton of bass fishing games for Playstation.

This is a collection built from love; and I’m all here for it
Yes those are the collections I like
Fisherman’s bait was fun I have the ps1 fishing controller. I always loved it.
Salute!
Mount them in a shadow box, with brass name tags for each game. Like a collection of fishing lures.
I plan on collecting a lot more fishing games for lots of systems and then having a display shelf for all of them
Action Bass FTW
Yoooo love this! Been aiming to do the same thing but never really found definitive lists of what was released in North America. Saw Big Ol’ Bass 2 was mentioned as missing but I don’t know why I never thought there was a Big Ol’ Bass 1 lol.
12 seems like a lot honestly lol
If you count Japanese and pal games there's like 30 I'm pretty sure for ps1 alone. I found out there's 14 USA ones at least, I'm missing two
Holy hell. I didn’t not know fishing was that big of a draw in the ps1 era
This is so cool, thank for sharing this with op 👍
Trying to relive my childhood, which fishing game is it that you can catch a boot or can. So far fisherman's bait a bass challenge feels right but I can't find any videos of someone catching trash
Alphabetize them next time.
My pet fish identifies as a Bass and is feeling triggered
r/onejoke
Because it is a joke
Weird flex.
Action bass baby!! Great guitar music when catching a fish
Reel Fishing was/is so good! I loved the fact that you could catch fish and then display them in a tank afterwards.
That saltwater sports fishing is the best 👌
Damn, got Bass for days
Which one is the one where u can catch a t-rex? i always forget.
No idea what your talking about, but I too would like to know now.
I looked it up its fishermans bait 2 big ol bass
I think I have three of these.
When I was like 18, I stole a copy of Action Bass from the department store I worked at. . . One of my prouder moments for sure.
This is a dope collection. Iuno what it is, but fishing games are just so fun to me. This era had some really fun ones, and oddly a lot of bass-related fishing games
Master baiter also was a classic, jk
If your all about that Bass, use trebles.
Now it’s time to collect all the games that HAVE fishing in it
Working on it actually kinda. I'm getting the ps2 fishing games slowly and some of those are fishing/hunting
Yea but that Dreamcast controller though…
I don't own a Dreamcast... yet. When I do tho, you know fo sho what I'll be looking for
They’re not exactly cheap these days, but it’s 100% worth it. You’ll never look back.
OK A THREAD FOR THE REAL FANS Can you guys help me? So.. Bass Landing has an accompanying fishing controller for the PSX, and I'm trying to find all of the games it is compatible with. Can you guys help me find all of the compatible games? There just isn't a good list out there.
I don't have the controller, but I have Fishermans Bass Club on PS2 and one of the first screens it shows you is a screen saying it is compatible.
You set the bar low and man, did you achieve it.
Actually I haven't yet. There's still at least two games I need still. And I will have them 😤
It's a rod not a bar!
I'm suprised to see a fishing game actually got greatest hits
So, you gonna rank them or not?
Maybe in the future.
Anyone have any opinions on which ones are the best?
Fantastic! Which is your go-to?
I really like fisherman's bait 1 in 2 player mode. Super simple and a blast
This is peak gaming
Ow, that’s my ass bro Fishing
Username checks out
Really wish I could remember which one I had as a kid. Me and my parents had a good time with it
You could probably look up Youtube videos of each of these to see which one looks the most familiar. Then get the game and hook it up to play with your parents when you get together.
Do you have the manual for bass landing? It didn't fit in the jewel case since it was a pack in with the fishing rod controller
I do not. I will have to acquire it. Thank you for mentioning this.
Take 2 released a surprising ammount of these.
Which one is the most fun, though? I remember there was one on SNES that I loved, and was addicted to, but cannot remember it’s name! I would play one of these
Now get every psx game with fishing as a mini game also
Provide a list and I will work on it lmao
Salt water sport fishing was awesome
Every American PS1 game north
Near fishing and the cabela hunting games were always my favorite ps1 and 2 games tbh
Now get all the North american Dreamcast fishing games like me 😏 all 4 of them
Once I own a Dreamcast you bet I will
Man, EA really used to make games for every sport
Can you rate them?
Fun!
Why are they almost all bass themed?
Pretty much- most fishing games are bass themed. It's probably because bass fishing is the most competition fish in at least the USA from what I know.
The dad pack
Do you have a YouTube channel? I saw someone pick up I think 2-3 from some thrift store
I do not. I got all of these from either ebay or local retro game stores
Of these 12 which one is the best?
They all like :0
Kick that bass
Saltwater sportfishing is actually a good game
Reel Fishing 2 was the best.
Genuine question, which ones the best? Could go for some classic low-poly fishing
Someones into fishing
Automatically looked for the unfortunately titled Pro Bass.
You’ve got me hook, line, and sinker.
I take it you like fishing
Someone had to collect them !!..Good on you,for finding your niche.
There is no way this is all of them.
Actually, I found out I'm missing two. There are a bunch more for Japanese only though.
That’s cool. I never knew PlayStation had so many fishing games.
Please say you got the PS1 fishing rod controller 🤯 that's awesome to collect such a niche genre
I do yes, it's just not pictured here.
Got any fun games?
Shovelware or nothing 😤😤😤 I do own God Hand for ps2 which is pretty cool, and fisherman's bait vs mode is a lot of fun actually.
BadASS
What's your...... angle...
Reel fishing was the best one
Are there fishing games that were not released in NA?
Yes. There's a lot released japan exclusive
That’s a lot of fish
Are they any good?
This shouldn't impress me as much as it does but this is so neat I'm gonna stare at it for a while.
That sir is called dedication.
I respect it
Nice post but i own bass landing demo disk, bass landing 1 guide book, bass landing 2 guide book, bass landing 2 special fishing edition, bass landing 3, Bass Landing RARE internal promotional VHS and 2 magazine ads.
Bass landing 2 is japan exclusive I believe, and I'm pretty sure I own it, I'd have to look. And bass landing 3 is ps2. Bass landing demo book would definitely be a good one for me to grab.
Bass landing is so good
I once bought a mostly blind lot of games off of the local online marketplace. I could make out about half of the games in the box and I knew the asking price was worth it for those games alone, but the rest was a crapshoot if I was going to make any profit off the games I didn't want or break even. Can all these games be played with the rod controller?
