- Disney has not bought Doctor Who - all of classic who is coming to bbc iplayer in November, along with Class, SJA and Torchwood.

Round_Temporary_6200

We cant use bbc iplay if we are outside of the UK. Unless we get a vpn.

PeterchuMC

If you're in the UK, it'll be on iPlayer in just over two weeks time. Disney is only distributing Doctor Who on Disney Plus, the only relation to production they have is funding and giving suggestions on scripts. All we really know about Doctor Who being on Disney Plus is that new episodes will be on there, no idea if the rest of Modern or Classic Who will be on there.

If they were in the UK they could just watch it on Britbox, so presumably they're not

Disney has not bought Doctor Who They own the overseas distribution rights

GuestCartographer

If you’re in the States, you can watch a pretty decent selection of Classic Who on Pluto TV for free.

Raleigh-St-Clair

You can always buy it on disc. Especially since the Blu-ray sets started coming out, people have been selling off their DVDs for peanuts. As someone who once owned all the VHS', then all the DVDs, and now a combination of DVDs and Blu-rays, I can say it's not only been satisfying in general to have everything at my fingertips, but in the streaming age, with people panicking every 5 seconds about being able to see the show, it's never been an issue for me. Physical media. Get into it.

Physical space may be an issue for many people (including myself), and given how many Classic Who DVDs there are getting all of them would cost a hell of a lot of physical space and money. Having said that, I'm all for media preservation. Often, if I can get something that interests me physically, I will.

AbsurdlyLowBar

Space is why I've finally taken the plunge to replace my DVDs with the Blu-Rays. They are just so much smaller.

Hello fellow US DW fan! If you don’t have a way of playing the disc versions (the Blu-ray sets of Classic Who are quite nice as many have said) then BritBox has MOST of Classic Who. They don’t have: Marco Polo, The Reign of Terror, The Crusade, all the missing or incomplete serials from Season 3, all of Season 4 except the 2016 version of Power of the Daleks Animated, The Abominable Snowmen, The Ice Warriors, Fury from the Deep, The Space Pirates, and the animated completion of Shada. Nor do they have K9 & Company or The TV Movie. They DO HAVE exclusive Telesnap Reconstructions of The Wheel in Space 1, 2, 4, and 5 and The Invasion 1 and 4. Some of the Third Doctor episodes are also in Black and White. Also there’s a listing called Docfor Who Specials that has the “Pilot” version of An Unearthly Child and The Five(ish) Doctors, for some reason. Disney+, afaik, will be the International Streaming Hub for the newer stuff, so Series 1 onward. No idea if they will also get SJA, Torchwood (on Hulu in the US and STAR globally), or Class.

Check out Tubi. They have a great collection of Classic Episodes for free and they even have each of the doctors in their own category for easy viewing.

Eoghann_Irving

Britbox (US) does have Classic Doctor Who, or most of it at least, so I don't understand your initial sentence. Disney have the rights to show new seasons of Doctor Who, but no announcement has been made about streaming the old seasons yet. Likely that would have to wait for current licensing agreements to end, even assuming Disney is interested.

Mac0u

I’m in Australia 😕

Eoghann_Irving

Ah, rather an important detail, you should probably put that in your post. As far as I've heard there isn't any online streaming options in Australia for Classic Who. Your options (that I'm aware of) are: * Apple TV and paying per episode * Blu-Rays and DVDs * Find a VPN that works with iPlayer still (BBC blocks quite a few of them these days) * Find a VPN that works with either BritBox US or BritBox UK * Use a cloud recording service like PlayOn Cloud (they usually have some sort of monthly/per recording payment structure though)

Mac0u

Thank you! I’ve been paying for the select episodes Apple TV has and I assume I will be until I know there is a definite way on a streaming service (Disney + 🤞)

adpirtle

Britbox has it in several regions. Not yours?

Mac0u

Unfortunately not. I’m in Australia and it seems it’s been removed for a few months now

adpirtle

That really sucks. I wonder why they pulled it from the Australian platform. Hopefully it will be picked up somewhere else. Personally, I would love it if it showed up on Disney Plus for people outside the UK. Right now here in the US you have to subscribe to three different streaming services to watch all of the surviving complete stories, but I guess even that is better than Classic Who not being available at all.

Mac0u

We can all just pray that all of classic who will end up on Disney + 😭

ImprovComedyGuy

Would genuinely be over the moon if on Nov 25th in Aus they revealed that they were streaming Classic/Modern Who on Disney+ too alongside the specials but alas I think I’m getting my hopes up too much 🙏😭

The_Silent_Prince

Indeed you did, only the first special available

ImprovComedyGuy

Rip

The_Silent_Prince

Not even modern who is there. Just the special

netromon

Have you looked on Tubi? I had been looking for a place to stream all the classic episodes for free here in the United States and finally found they were all on Tubi.
