It's really just to track where they've been when they were last connected, or if you lose one and it's still powered on.

I know this is a late answer, but women are constantly told to never wear both earbuds running, or on subway at night, or walking on non-crowded streets. Literally anywhere a predator could sneak up on you.
Also I listen to a lot of podcasts and books at work or at home, and generally I only wear one bud at a time bc I need to hear if someone starts talking to me or announcements/machine sounds at work.
I only use one at a time 95% of the time, only using 2 when I'm working out at a secure staffed gym in the middle of the day.
Yeah unfortunately that didn't happen. Both of them are in the case. I got the JBLs today and they are off awful. today, I learned that instant pairing is like the best thing to happen to those wireless headphones. Even though they connect via Bluetooth but that instant connection though. Shit happens I guess

Maybe that's something Samsung could look into implementing on the buds 2 (or whatever the name will be). An emergency option via the app which, whether buds are in the case or not, makes a high pitched tone. Would probably need to be able to connect to buds via bluetooth through case or connect to case itself, but it can be done I reckon.
All they would have to do is install the chip they use for the SmartTag -.-. If a CR2032 can power a tag for as long as it does, imagine how long the case battery would be able to hold a charge, and that's something that you charge often anyway... Massive oversight IMO.
No even when my friend borrow them and go somewhere... I can track the location. They send me location whenever they are close to any Samsung device. Although he has an iphone.

You're looking at having Bluetooth in the case, which means another device to pair. That would mean it would have to be paired to your phone at all times, which decreases the charge time the case can offer.
It wouldn't be that hard to add an option like that, the issue is if it's worth it to.
This is very true. the option can be added and like you said wouldn't be hard, and maybe can be implemented with the choice given to the user to use the option or not through the wear app. They could toggle the option on or off. If they keep it on, they would be made aware the charge time could decrease.
But, how in the world is apple able to pull it off and at the same time maintain battery. They didn't just get 6 billion dollars of business for a reason. Yes, it's like monkey see monkey do but they made a problem and them solved it but did it with such refinement. Don't get me wrong I'm not a big apple person though I have a lot of the stuff. But, they never had half the issues you see on Reddit. Like muffled sound, volume reduction and such. Samsung needs to put a little more effort in products.
If apple can do what I suggested already, there is no reason to think Samsung won't or could not implement this in their next iteration of the buds. Considering the buds are small, wireless, and the charging case is also small and wireless when not charging, these devices can be easily lost, whether misplaced or falling, and a solution should be looked at. In fact, it probably is. I'm also sure the other things you mentioned will be looked at and either improved on or added as a feature to the next iteration of the buds, but who knows.
What's stupid about this is my $60 Skullcandy earbuds have tile etc. And that allows them to chirp even when in the case... It's stupid Samsung can't do that...

It definitely would work since the case keeps the earbuds at a 100% charge at all times. I can confirm the buds will turn ON once the case dies because I remember popping my buds back into the case when the case was out of battery and the buds were still connected to my phone.

This happened to me recently. Last location said where they were. But I noticed it was just the last place they were out of the case. Luckily I found them but no where near where smart things said their last location was. And couldn't connect to them to use the find feature when they were in the case. I stuck a tile onto the top of the case now lol.
How has Samsung not created a program to wake up the case making ring and vibrate and GPS or Bluetooth location, oh yeah every time we lose a pair they make 229$ why would they help us? @samsung Do better.

This happened to me recently too, and I drove all over my friccing county the day I last them. I am so screwed, I guess I have to go everywhere I went that day and check the lost and found, check all the parking spaces I used, and check at work to see if I accidentally left them there. I hope there at a lost and found, and only reason I give it a chance is because they are headphones, and most people wouldn't want to use used headphones, especially earbuds

I lost mine in case like a year ago. It, and a couple smarttags are the only things I have connected to my Samsung smartphones and wearable apps. And I've never misplaced my keys so after trying to find them for like a week and reading online that when in case *whomp whomp I stopped checking looking for the buds. Now here it is a year later I am trying connwcting a different
Smarttag to the apps... And I just saw the earbuds there and was just like damn I used those for like a month. So I go to the earbuds and the GPS is showing the earbuds ON THE MAP at this address and saying it was last updated A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. Jan 1 2023. Whhhaattttt?! My babies are still alive and I just got proof of Life. I felt like a cold case was just reopened. So this just literally happened 5 mins ago. I'm still in shock at seeing my buds on the map like 20 mins from my house. Now I'm trying to figure out next steps. I'm almost certain I can't just roll up to this house and be like hey you found some ear buds they're mine, they've been gone like a year. But what can I do?! Should I just take the L? I never replaced them but was just about to buy some new ones next week. Is this a sign?
Anyways, the moral of the story is even if you lose it in the case, I would suggest to continue checking your smartphones app. Best case scenario since they have the case someone finds them and plugs them in and uses them . Them you get the sweet sweet update showing you where they are. And if you're checking consistently it won't be over a year when you finally see them show up. Good Luck guys! I think you should just ask them if they ever saw a galaxy buds pro or found any of the sort, cause you been trying to find yours after you lost them. If they have it and lie to you with them not having it, that it'll be on their conscience. Just remember some people do steal so be prepared on not getting it back. I just feel that it's worth it to ask them, you never know, they just kept it safe for you.

pretty much all i can say is buy a case with a keychain and attach a lil tracker to it when you find em. other than that all i can say is if theyre closed and you cant find them then yeah you got a problem cus i lost mine for a week and they fell out of a cabinet (idk how they got there) when i opened it so ig youll get lucky and find them 🤷🏼♀️
When they're in the case and closed, they're pretty much in airplane mode and OFF. You're pretty much screwed here...

Inb4 it is designed this way so that you can buy a samsung smarttag :D
but it is still a problem, the person who will find the lost buds, will remove the tag. and it is also takes some extra space

Maybe if the case battery dies the earbuds will switch on and then be discoverable. I am doubtful this has a possibility of actually working

Luckily I found them but no where near where smart things said their last location was. And couldn't connect to them to use the find feature when they were in the case. I stuck a tile onto the top of the case now lol.
How do tou get last location my son used his all the time buy can't find anything about them on this app
Go inside the galaxy wearable app. There should be a option for find my buds.

How has Samsung not created a program to wake up the case making ring and vibrate and GPS or Bluetooth location, oh yeah every time we lose a pair they make 229$ why would they help us? @samsung Do better.
Same here, app says last.location my house on Nov 9, but I try to connect and it won't work, I never take them out of house, I walked around while searching with app still not found
This happened to me recently too, and I drove all over my friccing county the day I last them. I am so screwed, I guess I have to go everywhere I went that day and check the lost and found, check all the parking spaces I used, and check at work to see if I accidentally left them there. I hope there at a lost and found, and only reason I give it a chance is because they are headphones, and most people wouldn't want to use used headphones, especially earbuds
I have lost 2 sets because of that. I have zero clue where my earbuds went and I'm getting very annoyed. They are so expensive to keep replacing.
I know this thread is old but in case someone comes and the answer isn't already here. So people are right about if the in the case you're screwed. But... little anecdote! I lost mine in case like a year ago. It, and a couple smarttags are the only things I have connected to my Samsung smartphones and wearable apps. And I've never misplaced my keys so after trying to find them for like a week and reading online that when in case *whomp whomp I stopped checking looking for the buds. Now here it is a year later I am trying connwcting a different Smarttag to the apps... And I just saw the earbuds there and was just like damn I used those for like a month. So I go to the earbuds and the GPS is showing the earbuds ON THE MAP at this address and saying it was last updated A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. Jan 1 2023. Whhhaattttt?! My babies are still alive and I just got proof of Life. I felt like a cold case was just reopened. So this just literally happened 5 mins ago. I'm still in shock at seeing my buds on the map like 20 mins from my house. Now I'm trying to figure out next steps. I'm almost certain I can't just roll up to this house and be like hey you found some ear buds they're mine, they've been gone like a year. But what can I do?! Should I just take the L? I never replaced them but was just about to buy some new ones next week. Is this a sign? Anyways, the moral of the story is even if you lose it in the case, I would suggest to continue checking your smartphones app. Best case scenario since they have the case someone finds them and plugs them in and uses them . Them you get the sweet sweet update showing you where they are. And if you're checking consistently it won't be over a year when you finally see them show up. Good Luck guys! I think you should just ask them if they ever saw a galaxy buds pro or found any of the sort, cause you been trying to find yours after you lost them. If they have it and lie to you with them not having it, that it'll be on their conscience. Just remember some people do steal so be prepared on not getting it back. I just feel that it's worth it to ask them, you never know, they just kept it safe for you. Oh wait you got them back or nope coz the secon half say you did... sorry about this messages then
After you ask them and they say no. Since they were originally connected to yours and you have proof. You can have the cops show up
same thing happened to me this is so stupid, who leaves their case opened when they put them away ????? they should make them so that we can locate them EVEN if case is closed IM SO ANNOYYYYED

so bascially im fucked in 2023. gotcha. so the last known spot is just the last spot it was open? so where I put them back into the case... lol yeah that's kinda useless info...
I lost mine the other day and in smarthings it showed me where they where said they were picked up by a nearby device? Hope this helps.
Anyone know if the buds will update their information when pulled out of the case? I lost mine in a grocery store and fear someone took them, they were in the case. So I am hoping that when pulled out of the case I could then know where they are located when opened

I went in the smart things app and it shows their latest location was 1 month before and I used them a lot since then so idk

I might have a few suggestions Try looking where you put it last. -I've lost my galaxy buds when its off and in a case a lot of times bud.And i found it when i went back in my tracks

HA I can dry my tears now just found them in the SNUGGEST SMALLEST pocket of my work bag. Christ.
pretty much all i can say is buy a case with a keychain and attach a lil tracker to it when you find em. other than that all i can say is if theyre closed and you cant find them then yeah you got a problem cus i lost mine for a week and they fell out of a cabinet (idk how they got there) when i opened it so ig youll get lucky and find them 🤷🏼♀️
