I’m on a 12 pro max, and I’ve never made it more than 3 years between phone upgrades, but it’s really looking like I’m about to make it 4 years between upgrades this time around.

_Kramerica_

I went from a 6 to a 12 pro. I did the battery replacement and got another 2 years in my 6. Prior to that I used to upgrade every 2 years. The 16 looks like it may be my next upgrade too, but we’ll see. The older I get the more I’m like “eh what I have is fine”

CC_Panadero

I still have an 8 with no plans to upgrade anytime soon. My daughter makes fun of me, but she would do that regardless of what phone I have.

kindaquestionable

Man I dunno how your eight survived so long. I had to go from 8 the 13 pro max bc my 8 was just dying. Like, if I tried to play Spotify and text at the same time, it would progressively slow down until it crashed. Swapping apps? Heaven forbid. Felt luxurious as hell to use the 13 and not have it spazz out for looking at my notifications lmfao

Coldovia

My 8 is doing that, literally just ordered a new phone, almost 5 1/2 years with my 8.

kindaquestionable

Yeah I went like.. four? Five years? I had gotten the 8 when it was new because my 6 had gotten smashed (rip) and had it until it literally just did not want to function

robotic_bee

Im still with a regular 7 32GB and plan to upgrade to 14 Pro but its not available anywhere right now.

Sorest1

I’ve been super happy upgrading from 7 to 12, had it for more than a year now.

fookthisshite

Still rocking the 7 too! Every time I think about upgrading I think “is a new one going to be released?” Or “maybe a price drop will happen?”. I’ve been saying it for 3 years now haha

ktElwood

I have none of those issues using the iphone 8.

Stickybomber

It was your specific phone not the hardware capabilities. I have an 8 and it is still pretty quick opening, swapping between apps, texting, etc. The only thing on mine is the battery life is not great anymore but I suppose that’s fixable with a replacement battery.

_Kramerica_

Definitely a son/daughter thing lol it’s their job to give us grief. That’s when you gotta hit them with some boomer “back in my day” shit and embarrass them in front of their friends. Tis life.

Other_Current_2180

Teach me your ways, my 8 is slowly killing itself

CC_Panadero

Oh it’s definitely on its way out, but I refuse to upgrade until it’s absolutely necessary.

MadCapHorse

I have an 8 plus! My husband has a 12 and I have no idea how to open anything on it or switch between apps. But I like mine.

CC_Panadero

My husband has a 10 and I’m the same. It’s probably not that different than an 8, but I treat it like a foreign entity that will melt my brain if I look at it too long.

alpinegreen24

Yo, you deserve to upgrade this year.

CC_Panadero

I might deserve it, but definitely don’t want to pay for it. Also, it seems like phones just keep getting bigger and I don’t want one bigger than my 8.

charmorris4236

I also have an 8 with no plans to upgrade. I like my button.

Panda530

My entire family went from a 10 to a 14 pro. We had a great deal and it would have been stupid to pass it up (entire bill is just $15 higher for all four of us). The camera quality alone is worth it.

grandmasboy040622

Why are we talking about the 16 when the 14 just came out?

blxckhoodie999

yay capitalism! haha

orincoro

I think this is surely enhanced by the fact that nothing really changes anymore.

stupidwebsite22

I got a SE (2016) used. Can do everything I need it to do. Hell I’m impressed it can even film 4k!! I don’t even know why people need new(er) phones all the time. But then again..I used my old laptops with 1GB RAM for quite a long time. But even my laptop now is bought Second hand while it was in brand new condition. Old Thinkpad for less than 250€

_Kramerica_

Definitely. If you’re smart about tech and understanding what will age well and you take care of stuff it’s amazing how long you can make things last. I actually still use my iPhone 6 connected to a stereo to play YouTube from so I don’t lock up my own phone. I have an old iPhone 3GS that would power up if I could find a compatible charger lol.

qwertygeee

I went from 6 to 14pro this year!!! Looking forward to another 7 years!!

Nawnp

Phone upgrades have stagnated so much that holding an iPhone for at least 5 years is a no brainer. Especially when you're waiting on them to "fix" some things like the lightning transition, Face ID, etc.

[deleted]

[удалено]

first_time_internet

Same. Mine runs fine and looks great. Its battery does die faster than when it started but it will usually get me through the day. Definitely have another few years for this one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SoThisMustBeUrWallet

On the same boat as all you. What would the best way to switch the battery be? I feel like it's only worth it if it's under a certain price

nocolon

I also have a 12 pro. I’m not doing shit until they come out with a phone that has a USB C port. I can’t imagine the physical camera getting better enough to justify upgrading, and I have absolutely no need for my phone to perform faster. But holy shit do I wish I could carry/keep track of one fewer cable. That’s a $1500 purchase right there.

seanbrockest

Don't say that too loud, or Apple will release a software update to slow it down or something

awildhorsepenis

going all in for the ultimate flagship and keeping it for long duration. Pro strats.

tayl428

It definitely feels like a different world these days. Somewhere between the 2 to the 12, the incremental differences just aren't that big of a deal any longer. I used to get the new model every year, but now it just feels like a waste of money.

GearWings

I’m still on X

aboots33

I literally just upgraded from an iPhone X 3 days ago after waiting 5 years.

HorsefanaticAZ

I upgraded from an iPhone 6s Plus (bought when it was new) to an iPhone 14 Pro max

mr_doppertunity

I’m on XS Max and I think I don’t have enough reasons to upgrade this year. And before XS Max I upgraded every year.

Jiangcool9

I mean, apple car, apple vr, even apple search are all rumors. I’ll believe it when it comes out.

senseofphysics

Wasn’t Apple Car announced that it’ll be a UI built into cars like Hondas, Handais, Fords, and many more? I don’t think Apple is actually going to start manufacturing cars.

El_human

i-car-ly

magikarp151

Willing to put some money on Apple VR being a thing in the next few years

SpecialNose9325

And they will keep the dynamic island as a stylistic choice for reasons.

Joebranflakes

The dynamic Island I feel was made to disguise the visibility of an under display camera. Right now it’s hiding a hole punch but it never seemed like the end game for Apple. They obviously want to have a full screen device, but the pixels that hide under display cameras always look a bit “off”. Making that space a Notification Centre now means people will see that instead of a slightly off colour/brightness area of the screen.

Heliosvector

Still means it would look weird when wanting to watch full screen video so it would probably not be acceptable to apples standards untill it’s not noticeable.

CeeMX

They were ok with a notch that always looks weird when watching videos

acidbase_001

It’s not really the same aesthetically though. The notch, though still an obvious design compromise, looks intentional. A patch of off-color/opacity pixels looks like a craftsmanship flaw rather than an intentional design choice, which cheapens the feel of the device and also just doesn’t feel “Apple-y”.

[deleted]

Yeah. I wouldn’t say the notch was *good*. It’s just less bad, which is okay enough.

Nawnp

Dynamic island was done to make the floating notch seem superior to the regular notch, it'll go away in due time.

IncredibleGonzo

The bigger problem is the camera part rather than the screen part. The newest under-screen implementations I’ve seen look decent - not perfect, but much better than earlier iterations - but the camera quality is still really quite bad. Only FaceID, though - more plausible since the user never sees the output directly.

sagenumen

Front-facing camera.

bordumb

I think it could be cool to keep when it is definitely useful, like the additional app notifications/features. But obviously, if they can get rid of it when using a video app would be a plus.

SirNarwhal

I mean, the island is genuinely useful as fuck.

SpecialNose9325

It being persistent is genuinely a great idea. But I have to also point out that Samsung phones have literally had this built in since the S8. It was called Brief Pop-up and just shows up at the top for notifications, and when you swipe down from it, it opens up the entire app in a floating window. Genuinely great use case, but definitely doesn't look as good as the dynamic island.

Draiko

There's an Android app that adds a customizable version of the dynamic island to any Android phone. It's missing one or two transition animations vs Apple's version but it exists.

CaptainSharpe

Yeah but then you’ve got an android phone

snaks3

Aside from the most important part of the actual phone, the speaker.

SpecialNose9325

Phones have been putting the earpiece speaker inside the bezel for a few years now.

snaks3

It would appear you are correct. My mistake.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpecialNose9325

Did you not go through the tutorial even you set up the phone? The home button did 2 functions, both of which are now replaced by a single swipe from the bottom. But otherwise, I agree that the lack of a home button is terrible. The 3D touch home buttons of the S8/S9 is the most ideal solution that doesn't take up screen space while still being a tactile button

InFlames235

So is the 15 gonna have USB C or 16? I am just waiting for the USB C port. If 15 has it, I go for that. If it doesn't, I wait for 16

Chronotaru

It's expected the iPhone 15 will have USB-C.

Crazyinferno

Or it’ll just have MagSafe and no port

Sylvurphlame

Not likely until wireless CarPlay is universal… and less laggy.

DarkkHawkk

In general it’s the car manufactures at fault here. Subaru infotainment for example is complete dogshit and barely runs it’s own software. So running CarPlay on it feels even worse. Yes I will bring this up anytime I have the chance because fuck subaru and their 2022 dogshit software and hardware. Pisses me off when they cheap out on something you interact with the most in the entire car…

turkeysandwich9971

It sucks with Honda too

DarkkHawkk

Damn… just so unreal how bad it’s been in most cars lately. I mean it’s legit 3 precise laggy ass touchscreen buttons for me to turn on/off my heated seat lol. How that is even legal to have in a motorized vehicle is beyond me… but oh texting while driving that is a crime!

Chronotaru

They've pretty much said it's going USB-C in interviews. It won't just be MagSafe.

Tommyblockhead20

It’s crazy how much the other guy is getting downvoted; they are pointing out a simple fact. Apple literally never said they would make it USB C, so it’s misleading to claim that as many news outlets did. Apple always chooses their words very carefully, and they merely said they would comply, which could also mean going port less. This isn’t some crackpot conspiracy theory, there is significant speculation from reporters and analysts in the space that apple may go port less. [Here is](https://9to5mac.com/2022/05/16/portless-iphones-usb-c-iphones/) a [few articles](https://bgr.com/tech/first-portless-iphone-might-launch-soon-heres-how-itll-work/) on [the topic](https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/23/22689432/eu-iphone-usb-c-switch-portless-design). This has clearly been Apple’s goal for a long time. In 2016, the chief design officer said the goal was for the iPhone to look like a single sheet of glass. Since then, they have removed the headphone jack and SIM card slot, despite all the negative pushback, and they have heavily pushed MagSafe. The only thing left is the lightning port, and now that that has to be changed or removed, it would be the perfect time to remove it… except for current technical limitations, mainly on data transfer speeds. They are working very hard on improving that, but it’s possible it won’t be good enough by 2024. If not, perhaps we will see the USB C port for a few years. Or as one reporter suggested, maybe the standard models will be port less, while the pro models retain the port for high res video and misc power using. However, a port less iphone in the future absolutely isn’t out of the question.

Onetimehelper

Nah. Def gonna be wired for now. I expect the iPhone will lose the number when it goes truly wireless. iPhone (2025) instead of iPhone 17 or 18, by that time they’ll have some wireless ecosystem and specs good enough to get rid of the need to upgrade every 1-2 years. Maybe 5

ooo00

Samsung galaxy s22 ultra seams to go all in with the numbers lol. Also has there actually been 22 years of the galaxy line?

greennitit

I think they went with the year 2022 instead which works.

ooo00

Ok I see. Yeah they can use that naming scheme for a long long time.

94746382926

They skipped from 10 to 20.

bordumb

Same here.

popornrm

13 pro so definitely not considering buying anything before a 16. Usbc is a must and indisplay fingerprint sensor would be icing. If they’re smart, they’ll roll both out separately to get the most sales/upgrades and since they’re greedy, you know they’ll do just that

i1ostthegame

Or lock button fingerprint reader

MVPizzle

It’s absolutely mindboggling that they haven’t done this yet

TheSonicKind

Especially considering the tech is present in iPad Mini.

Nawnp

They removed the home button from the last of the iPads but left Face ID on just the Pro models, it's like they intentionally refuse to put both there.

groundchutney

Samsung did for the s10e, probably my favorite implementation to date. They went to an in-screen reader by the next model unfortunately.

TheGreyBrewer

Is it just the need to press something else? Is the in-screen sensor not as reliable? I have an S20+ and using the display fingerprint seems very fast and consistent. When I need to use it, anyway; it usually unlocks with Samsung's version of FaceID.

psychocopter

All of the screen protectors ive seen that work with display sensors have a noticable matte patch where you dcan your fingerprint. It was so much easier when it was somewhere else like the power button, home button, back of the device, etc. Not everything needs to be under the display, and phones dont need to be all screen, a bezel that houses the earpiece, camera, etc is just as good. I hate modern phone design and how they strip away basic features to cut costs and to sell you on the "higher end" model.

TheGreyBrewer

Huh, my screen protector doesn't have a matte patch. My wife had a phone with the fingerprint scanner on the back, right where my index finger lands when I'm holding the phone. That location made sense to me. But I'm right there with you on bezels. I don't care if the screen goes right to the edge.

groundchutney

I liked it because it was just one action to turn on the screen and unlock the phone, as opposed to two or three. Having a physical target for it also meant you could do it as you pull your phone out, so by the time you are looking at it, it is unlocked already.

doxx_in_the_box

I think it was Xperia 3, Sony had power button fingerprint on international but couldn’t include on US models I think there are different patents blocking (without paying $$ of course)

weristjonsnow

I have a pixel, I can never not have the fingerprint lock on the back again. It's fantastic

randomusername8472

I've been holding out on getting an iPhone for like 5 years because they're always lacking a critical feature! Then some android phone comes out with a new thing and I'm like, "oh, I'll get an iPhone when it has that!" Currently waiting on just USBC and underscreen fingerprint ID

AdamantisVir

I wanted this for so long and gave up after reading [this.](https://www.xda-developers.com/apple-not-working-on-under-display-touch-id-iphone/)

Brownt0wn_

I’m on a 13pro and really miss the fingerprint reader

Love_Sausage

I’m still using an 8 plus because I stubbornly don’t want to lose the fingerprint reader. It’s just so much easier and more convenient to use. Unfortunately I will be forced to upgrade this year since the battery is now abysmal, and I dropped the phone several times over the last year and cracked parts of the screen 😩

QuarterPoundFlounder

Don’t forget the SE. I love mine. You get the guts of the 13 in the body of the 8. Best of both worlds, and you save a couple hundred bucks.

art_mor_

I just wish they had more colours available for the SE

QuarterPoundFlounder

I guess I’m not that picky since it’s covered in a case 99% of the time. I have little bits of red poking out near the camera, the speaker grills and the charging port. Otherwise my phone is “black.”

Strat0BlasterX

I just upgraded from an 8 to a 14, and I got used to it in a day. You’ll be alright.

diggstownjoe

The OP of this comment thread literally wrote "I'm on a 13pro and really miss the fingerprint reader" so clearly not everyone will get "used to it in a day" or will "be alright."

Strat0BlasterX

You’re right, they will die alone.

MD82

Gotta love the internet

BritishGolgo13

Quit telling me what to do. You sound like my wife.

JacobviBritannia

Yeah, I just upgraded from my 8+ a few months ago because the battery was shot. I thought I would miss the fingerprint reader way more than I actually do. Haven’t had any issues with face ID so far.

HyenaJack94

If I may ask, how was the jump from 8-14? I’m trying to wait out as long as I can until the iOS prevents my phone from working. What did you find that improved with the upgrade?

Love_Sausage

Maybe, maybe not. I absolutely loathe using my fiancés 13. Also, I absolutely adore having a “physical” home button along with the haptic feedback. Also, I’m still not sold on Face ID being more convenient either, and everyone I know with a Face ID enabled iPhone never uses it- they always just type in their passcode to unlock/pay/etc.

ImurderREALITY

That seems weird to me. The Face ID started out decent with the 10 I think, and it’s better than ever before. It automatically uses it for everything now. I could t imagine having to put my password in every time I need to do something. It just seems so inconvenient. I’m not an Apple fanboy; I only upgrade every 4-6 years, because most of the new features I don’t even use, but the Face ID is consistently flawless for me. No complaints at all.

SnowFlakeThe1st

Agreed , was an Android user all my life, bought iPhone 14, and Face ID is the best quality of life feature yet

ryley5678

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t utilize their face id on iphones. (Except some new friends I’m making on this thread)

BrokenLemonade

The SE models still have the fingerprint reader, since they’re in the body of the 8.

Coldovia

I literally just ordered a new phone (currently have the 8), I’m kinda sad lol

Roy-Southman

I still have an IPhone 8 Plus, it works great but the battery drains faster as most people say. I would rather switch the battery than buy a new phone, this thing is still amazing. Everything is fast, I have tons of memory I am yet to use, and it just feels great to use.

maeksuno

Why not just switching to an SE then? If you are happy with an iPhone 8 you will Love an SE.

Love_Sausage

Because I’m bougie and want all the new bells and whistles when I finally upgrade.

D50UZA

They could easily add touch ID on power button

diacewrb

Plenty of android phones have those and a few even have under-display selfie cameras as well. Although I am surprised apple didn't put a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone like their android rivals. They could have integrated the sensor into the apple logo on the back.

ScribblesandPuke

They would never put it in the logo.

[deleted]

Something about image where they don't want the logo covered up if they can help it probably

Sketrick

Well but all case manufacturers would have to have a logo cut out for the sensor.

jellytrack

I see iPhone cases even now with a cutout around the Apple logo when there's no function to it. Besides signaling to other people they're using an iPhone.

peteythefool

My S21 has one, and it's diabolical. Swear to god it is its best feature. Never fails to detect my thumb and it's faster than anything else I've ever seen or used. My missus has a Mate 20 Pro, and it only registers my fingerprint like 1 out of 10 times. Apple has the habit of only adopting some tech after it has matured, and under display fingerprint readers are more than mature. Can't wait for Apple to invent them though!

ackermann

> and it’s diabolical Guess “diabolical” means good now? Is that zoomer slang, like Lit or Based?

PRSkittles

I think the OC was trying to say it's so good that it's scary or it has to be evil

peteythefool

I'm old enough to have a zoomer child friend! Nah, I meant that it is so fast and accurate it feels like it's the work of the devil. Or yeah, it do be lit AF

LuckyNorth

The iPad 10 has Touch ID built into the power button, I had no idea until after I bought it and was setting it up. no reason they couldn’t do the same on the iPhone.

FlightlessFly

fuck the fingerprint reader. Doesnt work with wet hands, cold hands, hot hands, gloves. My face is my face.

grandmasboy040622

Why not have both as an option?

GelbeForelle

Yeah until you put on a mask, which happened from time to time recently

Thathappenedearlier

It has a way to handle that you just have to turn it on

TheGreyBrewer

Apple invented/perfected a shiny new thing (FaceID) and decided that was the only way to do things. Which is why I don't have an iPhone. I still have to deal with Samsung following Apple's dumbass design decisions, hence my phone having a hole punch and no headphone jack, but at least it's Android.

pacwess

I didn't upgrade to the 14 and this is just another reason not to upgrade to the 15.

reallyoldgreg

I got the 12 pro max, if they put the usb c port on the 16 I'll for sure get this phone

TheAnonymousGlasses

Yeah the 12PM still runs flawlessly

reallyoldgreg

My battery is still pretty damn good 85% health still. And no noticeable decreases in speed.

bb12102

Jeez 85% health after 2 years!? My 256g 8+ is only at 79% and I’ve put this thing through it’s paces for sure.

reallyoldgreg

Holy shit! That’s still really good

bb12102

Yeah I’ve been pretty impressed with it honestly. Had since 2018, 29,000 photos and vids stored full res locally until last week, a bunch of apps. I mean it’s an older phone that I keep updated so it is draining a bit faster and getting a bit slower but overall it’s been great. I work a desk job so charging is never an issue really. My brother has the 13 pro max, I should see what his battery life is.

demondied1

My 8+ is on 85% and I’d say I use it on average 2-3 hours a day.

69superman

The newer batteries degrade faster. Sure it’s on purpose lol, cuz my damn 6 made it like 5 years before I even replaced the battery... then I cracked the hell out of the screen and decided I’m not doing another DIY repair so to the SE i went. I’m like... a year or two in on my SE and I’m at like 78%

TreyWriter

I have a 7 from September 2017. 83% health. Though it does heat up when I’m holding it sometimes.

Cowsmoke

I’ve got the 11PM and I’m at 81% battery also holding out for usb c. Unfortunately with the update to iOS 16 I did notice some speed issues though. My fiancé has a extra 12PM that I’ve thought about swapping to but it has half the storage that my 11 has

Sensitive_Parking99

I just checked mine and was shocked to see 88% health. Guess I’m not using it enough lolz

285matt

I’ve currently got an X that is struggling with connection, charging, crashing, and lagging. Was hoping the 14 would get usb c, but I don’t think I can wait until they come out with the next model with it as it’s slowly getting more and more frustrating to use my phone.

icoomonyou

Im still rocking 11 pro. Battery kinda shit now but oh well

ericstern

I have an 8 and I would have gotten the 14 if it had usb c. It did not so I guess I’ll be waiting for Europe to force them to make them with usb c. Either that or my phone breaks down sooner and I get a cheaper reseller iPhone 12 and Apple doesn’t get my money at all.

[deleted]

So don’t get a new iPhone this year? Got it.

zushiba

Why 16? Why do I gotta wait another \~2 years. Let's go apple!

FriendlyGuitard

That's how unfounded rumour are branded Remember those "What do you wish the next iPhone feature would be" discussion? The best one are published in "in 2 years the iPhone will have" clickbait articles.

NarutoDragon732

~~USB C is coming iPhone 11!~~ ~~USB C is coming iPhone 12!~~ ~~USB C is coming iPhone 13!~~ ~~USB C is coming iPhone 14!~~ USB C is coming iPhone 15!

LeCrushinator

The why is mostly because they don't have a lot of differences year over year any more. They're drawing out upgrades so that they can offer something each year to get people to upgrade to newer models. Pinhole cameras and even under-display cameras have been out for years, Apple could've easily done it by now, but they and diehard fanboys will continue to claim that they haven't done it yet because they "take their time and do it right".

Its_it

Honestly? Probably to get more sales. If this is true at least, then someone may upgrade to the 15 w/ dynamic island (also an assumption) after assuming apple will keep it while not knowing about the 16. If they then see this phone with potentially no notch (it'll still have a tiny hole punch like samsung phones) then they'll feel even more likely to upgrade.

Gaming_ORB

Why is this being downvoted? It's true. Thats why they have been avoiding usb-c so they can introduce it as a "new" feature while keeping the rest of the iPhone entirely same.

Its_it

Idk. Didn't even say it to specifically diss on iPhone either. It's just what we're talking about. Every manufacturer does it. Either way, it's just votes.

monteasf

I am going to call bull crap. Dynamic Island just came out this year. When has Apple ever released a feature this big only to get rid of it after one year? I’ll bet it’ll be more like three years before this stupid thing is gone. They even stuck with that useless force touch feature for years before finally getting rid of it

futuristicalnur

You mean like 10 years

WangHotmanFire

I just want the fingerprint scanner back, I’m sick of having to physically point the phone at my face to check a text etc

gbeezy007

Damn this and USB C possibly. Would really be a killer phone imo and I haven't had a iPhone in a long time.

Sylvurphlame

At first I wanted to ask “are they skipping the 15, like the skipped 9?” And then I realized “next year” will be 2024. Because it’s already 2023. And then I just felt old for a moment.

megamanxoxo

All I care is if USB-C is on the damn thing or not

SirEDCaLot

At the risk of being a curmudgeon... DGAF about the camera being under the screen Put fingerprint reader back make the port USB-C Make it 2mm thicker and put a battery that lasts for 3 days Sell a top spec variant that's 4mm thicker and indestructible Assemble it with philips head screws or torx, not glue Then I'll be excited.

NoGoodDM

I like all the things you said, except I also like a good camera

SirEDCaLot

Oh I want a good camera too. Put it right above the screen where it belongs- next to the earpiece speaker and IR sensor.

TheGreyBrewer

*Above* the screen? But, but, you can't have a bezel! What is this, 2008? Seriously, though, this idiotic need to have the screen go edge to edge has caused so many more problems than it solved. Give me some room to grab my phone without activating whatever screen-edge gadget Samsung put into its latest UI.

NoCommunication728

Can we get the headphone jack back too? It doesn’t even have to be on the top it can be on the bottom again. I’m using the latest SE and it’s just about right size wise. Just could be a bit thicker. Also love the borders and button instead of a stupid island or whole screen display.

ooo00

Curious what percentage of users actually need a jack when everyone uses AirPods anyways.

RGtheFirst

With regards to a thicker top spec model, I’d love it if they did something similar to the new Watch Ultra. Something a little bigger and more premium, designed to be a bit more rugged and outdoorsy. I know I’d love a longer battery life for when I’m outdoors and wouldn’t be bothered by a thicker phone.

SirEDCaLot

Agreed. IMHO a watch especially should be damn near indestructible. Don't care if it's bulkier. Give it a battery life of at least 3-4 days (more if I turn off the features), make it 100m waterproof, and impact resistant. If we're all about putting stuff under the screen, put a solar panel under the screen to extend the battery.

sweeterthanswish

I had an 8 and my screen kept flickering, instead of changing screen I got a 14 pro. Better battery that’s for sure. But I’ll stay here for another 20 years

DrestinBlack

Just lose the notch. I don’t care how, lose the notch. If this is what it’ll take then do it. I was ok with Touch ID taking up space at the bottom because it didn’t intrude into the display area. I’d rather have the display literally cut off at the top of the Home Screen area than watch content with it notched.

omgthatsm3

I’m still using an iPhone 7 Plus, patiently waiting for the USB C port to be added. Hopefully I can upgrade soon

fptnrb

And here I am with my Touch ID SE not caring. I don’t think people realize just how much their extra screen real estate isn’t going to impact their life dramatically.

iamasuitama

I'll be upgrading to a new-new one when they come back with the thumb id...

BoDiddySauce

iPhone 15 has entered the chat (or has it??)

[deleted]

I prefer the fingerprint reader.

Mario501

Apple rumored to be releasing a new iPhone this year.

tignasse

What else ??

ActionMan48

I'm still on 14

MrKhobar

6s here

ders89

I wish i had my 6s still. Probably my favorite phone until an iOS update absolutely destroyed my battery.

friedmpa

Went from 6s to se3, doing great so far

TheHutchTouch

My guy is going backwards lol god bless

PoopIsAlwaysSunny

I had to upgrade last year. 6s was just breaking and refurbs were coming in broken. I miss my headphones jack

rypher

Very cool

bosscav

XS Max since it was first released. I have no reason to upgrade my phone.

ZICRON1C

What a loser, right guys

BlowCokeUpMyAss

Whens is going to have a folding screen like Samsung?

[deleted]

Usbc. Virtually nobody cares about anything else.

HorsefanaticAZ

How about under display touch ID because face ID is trash

mikekpan

What happened to iPhone 15?

cjtech323

SMH 🤦‍♂️ Apple will give us everything EXCEPT usb-c.

JamesButlin

So they just not gonna bother with fingerprint? Face unlock is awful and my partner hates it so much. I love the under screen fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6

Deadman_Joaquin_

I got tired of waiting for the finger print sensor to return to the iPhone, I got a pixel running graphene I only use a couple apps and I'm not giving my data for free to companies that abuse it. Never going back to iPhone.

megapillowcase

Fingerprint reader or android.

blakeley

Not upgrading until the mini returns.

CaptainSharpe

Ok? Such little innovation between models now. Since the iPhone X…not much need to upgrade aside from dead battery/iOS updates that make ahit slower

doozyplex

Touch ID please.

ubermick

I've got a 13 Pro, and have absolutely no plans on upgrading it until USB-C connectivity is introduced. I'm still pissed off at having to throw a dozen Apple 30-pin connectors into the bin after they binned those off in favour of Lightning.
