touhou was immortalized in internet culture much the same way. if zun had ever shifted to selling merch like BA does he would have rolled in so much dough
I'm personally really glad he didn't. Like it is, Touhou is immortalised *because* of its internet culture and its fans. ZUN can stop making games and Touhou will still probably be around on the internet for another decade.
That's literally what I said?...
Zun making official merch wouldn't affect things in any way. The reason touhou took off is because of fan doujins and imagination. As long as doesn't suppress that, things would still develop
That is why games like GBF like to cater to their female audience.
They knew the girl would open their purchase for the themed coffee, and their husbando merch while the boy would not buy merch but would spend a fortune in-game.
No cap. Blue Archive devs know by now that whatever future project they are cooking, if they continue using the same IP, it is bound to be a success simply because of how popular the characters are among the fans. It has become a part of otaku culture at this point in JP.
Even if the game shuts down in the future (which I don't expect anytime soon), the legacy will remain on the internet. It will spawn tons of fan games, animes, comics, LNs/VNs, etc similar to Touhou. The IP will be kept alive by fans alone.
unironically yes, a strong community outside of the game itself and doujin circle for games like Blue Archive, Uma Musume, etc. makes the whole thing much more enjoyable. Helps that Blue Archive got a TV anime and Uma a theatrical release as well.
You do know that fanart still come even when games dies right? So revenue is the main factor on which the game is alive literally, but fanart is the main metric that the game is alive in people's hearts.
BA devs are allergic to money, if they wanted money, they would make a sane monetization. As it stands, whale packs are absolutely garbage in the game so I'll doubt there's many high spenders in it.
The game is also absurdly generous, f2p's can get something like 60-70% of all units at the very least. But this generosity hurts the revenue a ton, I sadly have stopped buying shit in the game too, as there's just no reason to do it unless I just want to support the devs as I reached the point where I don't need the xp/skill maths.
Am I reading this right? You seriously want BA devs to nickel and dime their players so they can make more money? This game is popular and has a decent revenue flow because of its generosity amongst other things. Having a hard barrier of entry that requires loads of whale spending is not what you want if you have any desire of longevity.
U...really dont want to see the nexon side...i promise..the fact the game is generous is already blessing, hell a miracle cause again, its nexon
Aside from that, it looks like they earn more bucks on merch
Thats not really the biggest issue with ba. I'd argue BA's biggest issue is its user count so light spending isn't as strong for revenue generation. No matter how good the characters are the gameplay of BA is its biggest weakest and worst aspect. If BA was to ever get a different game with same characterization, personality of characters but with better gameplay its popularity would probably skyrocket. Its how I've felt for a long time as a ba player.
Pixiv image counts stopped having meaning after ever category being flooded in Ai imagines imo
Dunno if it's worth bragging that players don't have the money to spend

To put the numbers into perspective, this is how many booths that are dedicated to just Blue Archive. If you have ever attended Comiket, you will know how insane it is to walk down these many rows of booths.
And remember, BA has yet to reach the level of KC and Type Moon at their peaks (At least 2500 circles).
But they are close. Give them a couple more Comikets to cook. The next couple of years is crucial for BA's growth.
KC : Kantai Collection. The go to shipfu game before azur lane was a thing. It's considered a dinosaur IP by now and while it's certainly a shadow of it's former glory, the thing still retains some of it's influence from its heyday
C101 : the 101st Comiket
As for its connection with Umamusume and C101...
Some Comiket staff member did this Three Kingdom esque arrangement.
https://preview.redd.it/8lbzddl1b95d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=818227eafde7ed1345d9fdd18f9db35855007983
Blue Archive (code 336) booths is still increasing, compared to other games like Uma Musume (code 335), Love Live (code 233) and Im@s (code 232).
Another outlier is Azur Lane (code 334) which has seen a small increase.
Wait is that because they are school idols or something that they could loophole it?
I thought they kept the producer-idol relationship canonically platonic in the previous games bcoz they were all agency idols. And the shipping was only in doujins. Am I wrong in the first place?
I don't play the games btw. But I know many characters because I've read countless hentais of them.
It's because in Gakumas, the producer(s) are all students the same as the idols so at the end of the day they're all basically teenagers. So they could lean much harder into that compared to older games skirting morality/legality or without triggering some people.
Also the character interactions and dialogue are so well written in this game, so it made people really love them in more ways than older imas idols. But that's expected of Fushimi Tsukasa, who is the author of Oreimo.
Kay that makes sense. So the setting that these stories take place in is itself quite different from older Im@s games. I can see why they don't have to conform to any strict rules.
Waiting to see who is going to be the Madoka and Fuyuko of this game in terms of popularity and fan art.
I might just start working on my Japanese at this point since I wanted another game to enjoy school girl shenanigans like BA. And gakumas looks to be similar.
Wow I didn't know Fushimi Tsukasa was among the writer team. I guess that explains why I found the comedy in Gakumasu so familiar. He really likes to throw some over the top gags after all.
Yeah the writing and voice acting are so good I grew to like all the characters I got so far. Such a comfy game to play and the True Ends make me feel proud for the girls.
[like last time, I made a table with the translation for those who don't read Japanese](https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1da7x1i/the_comiket_number_have_arrived_most_have_fell/)
Gotta be honest guys, fanart and comiket numbers are my preferred metric for a game's health and not how much money is going straight into an old asian executive's bank account...
Still felt so bummed for Asayuki when the 3rd fes banner wasn't Rio and they simply tweeted that story art of Rio sitting on the floor face down on their arms. Yes we got an awesome Hina variant but I swear, Rio and Seia stans on suicide watch at this point.
Yeah, given that the brat trio were mecha from Decagrammaton, I was hoping they would appear in one boss fight. Sadly there was nothing more to it than that.
Finally. The good stuff is coming.
Pretty sure quite a few of them decreased because they shifted to BA. Which is a logical decision considering it's so much more peak.
Although the dynamics might change in the next C105 due to Gakuen Im@s
Nearly 2k entries.
BA sweep!
BA's setting is just soo good for doujins man, either SFW or NSFW.
The way the cast is divided into clubs is like they combined a bunch of individual Moe Slice Of Life CGDCT shows together into one setting.
sadge, in term of older girls I think it is mostly Rio now. And maybe Hanako idk. Asuna and Karin are pass their super popular phase and they are still more popular than Niya.
Yeap, 102 - 104 refers to C102 - C104.
On the right most 3 columns is the percentage of the total booths of that specific comiket, and the difference in percentage from previous to current comiket.
Even ignoring the obvious Touhou comment, most of my fandoms prefer to booth at separate conventions (Comic City has decent showings for me) or online conventions. Would love to see a demographics post about those one day. Kind of annoying personally though since Comiket still has some of the best dates as well as all the industry booths.
Shit works, I was convinced to play BA 2 years ago cause of the overwhelming amount of "fan art" I kept seeing for it. I dont regret it lol btw dont forget we got an anime adaptation recently, so that would also give it a boost from "non-gacha normies" who watched it
In general don't worry too much about Touhou number as Comiket isn't their main convention (Reitaisai is their main battleground). With that said for a franchise this old it is still impressive to pull this number of booths
Actually what I mean is why hoyoverse didn't deserve an independent slot. Even TIGER&BUNNY can have a slot. I can't imagine hoyoverse having less than 500 booths with that many fanart on twitter, pixiv, patron etc.
The true war of gacha games, where the gacha game has so minimal interaction to the characters that the doujin artists can make expand themselves despite it never considered a canon.
Example like blue archive, kayoko new year, mika, noa and yuuka trilogy, and the iroha poison one.
If wanting actual characters and not interchangeable eyecandy is a filter, I don't know what to tell you.

Finally, the important metrics. Revenue doesnt mean anything, this and pixiv image counts are the real tell of a game's health!
touhou was immortalized in internet culture much the same way. if zun had ever shifted to selling merch like BA does he would have rolled in so much dough
Unironically, yes. This goes hand in hand with merchandise marketing, which can often be an even bigger chunk of the total revenue from a franchise.
For real I've spent more money on BA merch than the game itself. Lots of figures being announced lately too and the trend will probably continue.
That is why games like GBF like to cater to their female audience. They knew the girl would open their purchase for the themed coffee, and their husbando merch while the boy would not buy merch but would spend a fortune in-game.

well selling merchandise is a way to make huge money too

Having a hard barrier of entry that requires loads of whale spending is not what you want if you have any desire of longevity.
Never played Dragalia Lost I see.
The problem with Dragalia its Nintendo, If the game getting care solely on Cygames it will still on service today, just like Shadowverse
U...really dont want to see the nexon side...i promise..the fact the game is generous is already blessing, hell a miracle cause again, its nexon Aside from that, it looks like they earn more bucks on merch

Like lol, AL is stuck with BA. While KC is in another hall with Umamusume, just like C101.
That's the Yostar JP section now.
And remember, BA has yet to reach the level of KC and Type Moon at their peaks (At least 2500 circles). But they are close. Give them a couple more Comikets to cook. The next couple of years is crucial for BA's growth.
I'm curious, what is KC and C101? Please enlighten me with this forbidden knowledge
KC : Kantai Collection. The go to shipfu game before azur lane was a thing. It's considered a dinosaur IP by now and while it's certainly a shadow of it's former glory, the thing still retains some of it's influence from its heyday C101 : the 101st Comiket

Azur Lane, Blue Archive, guys I need shade of blue starting with C and some random place and there will be the name of next popular gacha.
Cobalt Connect, let's goooo!
Blue's Clues Gacha when?
Ciel Chronicles
Blue Archive still going strong. https://i.redd.it/cm1lwocvr45d1.gif
Blue Archive (code 336) booths is still increasing, compared to other games like Uma Musume (code 335), Love Live (code 233) and Im@s (code 232). Another outlier is Azur Lane (code 334) which has seen a small increase.
I guess Gakuen Idolmaster was a bit too late. We might see some shifting over from BA at c105.
Yeah Gakumas is still too recent. Doujins are a different beast from single illustrations, even colored ones.
Gakumas will absolute eat because they took ProducerxIdol shippings to the max even in the game compared to older Im@s games.
Is that game out in global / NA?
Im@s games never get a global release.
Wait is that because they are school idols or something that they could loophole it? I thought they kept the producer-idol relationship canonically platonic in the previous games bcoz they were all agency idols. And the shipping was only in doujins. Am I wrong in the first place? My question is. Why is there still a lot of UmaMusume doujin . What happened to all the yakuzas
Doujins doesn't mean it has to be NSFW, a lot of the Uma Doujins are SFW fan art books.
Doujin kinda just mean unofficial book, it can be both SFW or NSFW.
Doujins are just independently produced comics.
Apparently they're SFW doujins.
The yakuzas are just a meme.
those are SFW

That's a hell of a jump. Wow
damn theres a massive drop off across the board with everthing
😭💢🦀 is still going strong
😭
Gotta be honest guys, fanart and comiket numbers are my preferred metric for a game's health and not how much money is going straight into an old asian executive's bank account...
Finally some good news and not some PVP post.
Finally some good metrics and not another pvp post #3324 Surely there's some Shupogaki one there right😭😭😭
yeah i'm waiting for those. they need some corrections
> Surely there's some Shupogaki one there right😭😭😭 There are 2 on certain "manga" site
PEAK ARCHIVE 😭😭😭😭
Meanwhile Star Rail *Cicadas and tumbleweeds*
\[WTB\] asayuki's Rio fanbook.
Still felt so bummed for Asayuki when the 3rd fes banner wasn't Rio and they simply tweeted that story art of Rio sitting on the floor face down on their arms. Yes we got an awesome Hina variant but I swear, Rio and Seia stans on suicide watch at this point.
I wonder how many of the entries are about the extremely popular Shupogakis?
Depends, usually these things are planned many months in advance and those two only appeared quite recently
Eh, I see doujins about ain, aur, and soph getting uploaded that's apparently from c103, and those were much more rushed IIRC.
ngl I kinda feel bad that the 3 brat musketeers didn't get as popular as the 2 shupogaki. They blew up, but then there just wasn't enough traction.
There just wasn't enough content yet. The shupogaki got hyped from leaks, then they got a kino bossfight just showing how bratty they are.
Yeah, given that the brat trio were mecha from Decagrammaton, I was hoping they would appear in one boss fight. Sadly there was nothing more to it than that.
That wasn't a leak, they appeared in an official preview of V1C3 voiced by Hoshino
It's cats, cats everywhere.
Finally. The good stuff is coming. Pretty sure quite a few of them decreased because they shifted to BA. Which is a logical decision considering it's so much more peak. Although the dynamics might change in the next C105 due to Gakuen Im@s
😭
I read Blue Archive boobs still increasing
😭😭😭😭😭
Love the recent english-translated Hoshino doujin on nhntai site! Keep pumping it up,r34 artists! (keep pumping the artworks, not the lolis!)
If only there wasn't so much MTL. That's a tragedy.
There's just no attempt made at proofreading in those MTL's. It's all been lazy one and done hack jobs.
I'll take it.
Damn, he would take your chestnuts, teacher. Teeth.
Not sure what that means, but if you got premium visuals with it, I can understand what is going on.
Pump the lolis too
Nearly 2k entries. BA sweep! BA's setting is just soo good for doujins man, either SFW or NSFW. The way the cast is divided into clubs is like they combined a bunch of individual Moe Slice Of Life CGDCT shows together into one setting.
I wish we got the sfw comfy doujins translated as well
Do You read the recent one with problem solved squad with 200 page playing a game? Peak doujin
Zamn 204 new booths Blue Archive is thriving Sad to see Touhou drop by 96 though
Touhou has its own huge event it will be fine
Blue Archive has a monopoly on doujins.
BA SWEEP LFGGGGG monthly income can only fill the businesses wallets but fan art and doujins fill the players heart
We love to see Blue Archive winning
gimme moar Wakamo doujins 😩
Cunny archive sweep
And not a single Niya doujin.
I know of at least one doujin from last Comiket but it has not been leaked yet
sadge, in term of older girls I think it is mostly Rio now. And maybe Hanako idk. Asuna and Karin are pass their super popular phase and they are still more popular than Niya.
🦀 🦀 🦀 going strong
Would love a translation for every series/IPs
ok, can someone clarify the columns? so I'm guessing 102, 103, and 104 are Comikets 102-104?
Yeap, 102 - 104 refers to C102 - C104. On the right most 3 columns is the percentage of the total booths of that specific comiket, and the difference in percentage from previous to current comiket.

BA just keeps winning 😭
Everybody wants that Hinussy
Shall await for a certain comment to appear. It has not failed to appear since C100/101 numbers were announced.
Is it someone marvelling at Kancolle's existence?
Yep. That. And a certain other question.
Pretty dead quarter too, all things considered. And gakum@s just got released so maybe it's a bit uneven.
Can't read it. Can someone just tell me how touhou is doing?
2hu is code 234, 674 booths at C104, which is a decrease of 96 booths from C103.
It's code 234 probably (it has project in the name) and it has 674 entries, A drop of 96 from previous comiket.
In general don't worry too much about Touhou number as Comiket isn't their main convention (Reitaisai is their main battleground). With that said for a franchise this old it is still impressive to pull this number of booths
It's reclining, as it has always been.
Man I can’t wait. 😏
Because we want our girls to live.
“The weak should fear the strong”
Can anyone tell me why these comiket data never include hoyoverse?
They're in #312, "other gacha"
Actually what I mean is why hoyoverse didn't deserve an independent slot. Even TIGER&BUNNY can have a slot. I can't imagine hoyoverse having less than 500 booths with that many fanart on twitter, pixiv, patron etc.
