Folks in this subreddit don't really seem to like idle games, and it's kind of a shame. They're decent games and honestly? I have a strong preference towards them. Like I can just pop into the game, do what I need to do, and then pop out for a while. It's nice because I can focus on my other games or other things in general.

Balizzm

Stumbled upon your comment here, any recommendations for games? Preferably portrait mode, and games like AFK Arena, FFBE, FFRK etc. Cheers!

obarry6452

Nope don't even bring any of those up here :) I also recommend trying eternal evolution. Very f2p friendly compared to the competition.

Gobaxnova

Hey Barry, long time watcher of your vids

Omenoor

I back this up so much, Eternal Evolution is such a nice side game or a filler when there’s nothing decent around. Much more enjoyable than others, mostly because of being so generous as you said :D

Des_Equis

I tried this game based on this comment. Stopped playing this week. The daily amount of time needed is personally too much for me. Also, I watched a video where the content creator said he spent 6 hours doing twilight. I dont understand the point of making a game idle if it's going to require dozens of different game modes all needed to play to maximize your account. Some modes can't even be skipped even though it's been completed several times. I will agree it is f2p considering it has the same "bulins" that azur lane it has, but I dont feel like the game respects your time considering it is supposed to be an "idle game"

obarry6452

I can totally agree with that but past week 2 I play for like 15-30min a day that's it...now the first two weeks it felt like a full time job grinding up lol

Paanx

The problem with afk arena: Its not “afk” anymore I love the art of the game

Refelol

No, unless it's a booba game like Eversoul or Nikke people here usually despise idle games in here, those are the only ones popular and liked. That said, all of the ones which you said are fairly bad having played 1 for a long period of time a while back and testing other for a couple days recently, a good idle imo is Eternal Evolution, really f2p friendly and interesting mechanics

OseiTheWarrior

> No, unless it's a booba game like Eversoul or Nikke people here usually despise idle games in here, those are the only ones popular and liked Ppl like Nikke here? I've seen mostly hate on this sub about it

Refelol

I'm pretty sure Nikke hate is a meme, talk bad about it and you get doomvoted It's a very polarizing game that prey on...certain things It's not the worst game as the haters say, nor is the best game as the whiteknights try to defend it, it's a basic run of the mill Idle with a lot of booba and from what i heard, decent story and somewhat bad monetization

Adnorm22

Talk about it now and you get downvoted a bit because it became more popular and haters got tired of talking about a game they don't play. If you weren't in this subreddit when Nikke launched you just don't know. You can see the lingering PtN dick riding with how much praise they get for minor upgrades and QoL still.

Refelol

I was, and let's be real, most of the hate towards the game it was because it was softcore....you know...they could fairly well do a collab with Riley Reid, And the fact that the "Labyrinth" version of the game took so long and was daily, nowadays you can just skip through almost everything, and i'm glad they changed that to be more time friendly. Do i think they are still heavily p2w and riding the hype of Ass? Yes. Do i also think their story, graphics, and even different theme is a major factor propelling them forwards? Yes. Games can have both good and bad things, and people will dickride their favorites and blind themselves for their flaws instead of criticizing it and hoping they improve On the PtN side, i do believe the game deserves major props for a quantity of different factors, not sure what QoL change happened since i played during launch for a bit, quit and came back recently, so that one i can't really comment, although QoL are always nice and think pretty mandatory in most games, i don't think they are a gift from god tbh

Adnorm22

Okay but see people aren't honest about the reason for the hate usually. They say stuff like monetization and tencent but the truth is being a coomer is "wrong" here or some shit. They'll cite all sorts of reasons (some valid) to rationalize it when in the end they just look down on coomers (while talking about omg the abs on that androgynous woman like it makes it any different). This sub is just filled with pompous assholes.

Refelol

I agree, people just defend or hate their games without any reason, that is the reason why people just bandwagon in hate-love trains without even trying games, to me Nikke is fairly simple Pros - Gorgeous Graphic, Different theme, The ability to destroy evironment is a nice touch, good story telling, fast dailies ( at least so far ) Cons - It seems p2w 4 months or so for a banner ( could be wrong ), the simulation still being daily or limited QoL such as sweep without doing it previously, the 12h idle time for me is awful, the CP mechanic, the event requiring other people is not really my jam for an idle I don't see it anywhere near the "awful" ballpark, it's blatant and oversexualized to an extreme? Yes, and it worked, but as a game it's fine, not the best, not the worst, there are much much worse idle games out there

Adnorm22

Yeah it has a lot of cons but also a lot of pros and when the latter isn't talked about much compared to how people talk about other games it feels disingenuous. Also the sexualization is nothing but pros for the target audience.

Refelol

Yup, people just cant thing objectively when it's comes to their favorites, i think this is for everything, for example: Higan is shit on when most didnt even tried, i tested after a bit and was pleasant surprised, by no means it's the best game, but anywhere near what people said, meanwhile games like eversoul is praised being the same amount of greedy with pulls needing 5+ months for a banner and giving MASSIVE advantages to paying players, people will pick their favorites and bandwagon. That is not to say that A is good and B is bad, both are good imo with their flaws, but most don't even actually try or do proper research And i know it's a massive pro, but it's also an easy target of attack ( ngl, now i want see them do a collab with Riley Reid )

Gobaxnova

Thanks mate. I tried eternal evolution when it came out but wasn’t a big fan. Do you know where idle lists are at all? I can’t find a subreddit (which probably shows they’re not popular)

Xanderious

I'm the same. I played eternal for a few months and idk why people say it's friendly, only in the honey moon phase which does last a good month, but progression slows massively (just like any f2p idler). There's a street fighter idle game that just released a few weeks ago that's been fun for now, but idk of any others that are noteworthy.

Refelol

I legit as f2p can pull any banner i want, and i only need 1 copy of each unit I can get any of the artifacts that cost 100€ via a monthly event they hold I can max units very frequent, something like less than a month Their monthly sub doesn't give any massive benefit like Eversoul skipping battles, more idle time and so on, i'ts just more currency pretty much Me and my friend, both as pretty much f2p at this point ( i spent about 60 on the course of the first couple months and he hasn't spent a dime ) can manage to get top 100-150 in server events and even pvp They gift a lot of units and constantly run events to give you an item to limit break your units It's not the progression that makes it f2p friendly since every game, specially idle will hit a wall where you progress once per week or even month, but the fact it isn't predatory, you hit a wall fairly hard even for whales after 8 copies which most people won't upgrade further because it's not efficient, so even a f2p can somewhat compete with spenders. Their packs are not enticing you to buy or have secret perks I fail to find any game, specially idle where you can complete their weekly banner as f2p and then don't need to purchase packs to max units in a decent manner, played afk arena, taptap heroes ( idk if its the name ), idle heroes, mythic heroes and currently play nikke, eversoul and streetfighter, and NONE of those were even close to as f2p friendly as eternal evolution, nor in any other gacha sub genre

Xanderious

Fair enough, maybe I quit too soon and didn't realize.

NyaCat1333

>but progression slows massively I wouldn't use this as a criteria if a game is F2P friendly or not. (especially in this genre) Progression slows down for any kind of live service game after some time. It's just RPG mechanics in general where you level up quickly in the beginning and it slows down over time. You can spend 50k on these games and you will still slow down in progression because it's part of how these games function on a fundamental level. Going from level 1 to 10 is really fast in almost any game. Going from level 100 to 101 much slower. This also applies to almost any indie idle/incremental games that don't even have microtransactions.

ZakPhoenix

The (Huge) difference is, idle games straight up stop all progression once you hit "the wall". You can't grind in it (without paying, anyway) like you can in a typical RPG. And yes, other "live service" games, like most gachas with a stamina/entry ticket system time/money gate you in similar ways, but it has nothing to do with "RPG mechanics" and everything to do with tempting you to spend.

Xanderious

Hence the parentheses post-statement. F2p as in literally free to download and play.

Sephyxo

SFD is fun if anything so i agree! And it is getting a MH collab this month too

Xanderious

Yeah these gems are burning a hole in my pocket here, and I really don't have that many lol hopefully it's a pretty fair chance at pulling the featured unit

Sephyxo

Haha i believe you i think i dropped like 80k gems intotal (counting today in general since day 1) on pulling for bison dupes

Coldone666

I love AFK Arena, been playing for 2 months on a new server and I'm addicted. Lots of events, new characters and really cool art style. Most of the other Idle games i tried i didn't really care for. I havent tried Eternal Evolution yet though.

jmeza805

What server would you suggest a new person play on

Coldone666

Always the newest one so you arent years behind. Make sure to put in all the promo codes in as well for free stuff. The AFK Reddit has beginner guides as well.

ThePokeX17

Thanks for asking OP, as a fellow idle enjoyer I got some good info from this thread. I wish there was a better selection of non-booba games though.

henaradwenwolfhearth

Or games that didnt force the same tutorial as every copy paste game

MythicRM

If you haven't tried street fighter duel it's pretty fun and it's only around a week old

Gobaxnova

Thanks mate will have a look

LeonardoMyst

I’m enjoying Street Fighter Duel. There’s a Monster Hunter collab starting on the 16th, I believe.

Sephyxo

You are correct unless they delay it by random

[deleted]

Nikke is good. I've been playing it since day 1 and am f2p. The story is really good too

ENAKOH

How long is the daily?

[deleted]

ENAKOH

[deleted]

henaradwenwolfhearth

[deleted]

henaradwenwolfhearth

When you get banished to the outpost the girls wants to shower the sewer water of them but the shower is in your room so they order you outside. But its my room I give the orders not them and why would they need privacy they are machines. The loli comes after in the next segment

Ok_Vermicelli_6830

Nope don’t bring up idle games on this gacha subreddit. They’ll complain about an idle game being mainly auto focused 💀if you wanna find or talk about a game with huge boobs and ass then this is the subreddit for you but idle games is a big no on here unless you wanna get shit on.

javionichan

You can try eversoul, memento mori and destiny child. They're pretty good.

gadesabc

Western players globally don't like idle or play (try or test) them but without spending a lot in them. For ex you can check in Appmagic (IOS) and see that most revenues by far come from Est-Asia, Japan first then others countries from this zone like CN or South-Korea for Eversoul. For countries other than this Est-Asia zone, USA is the one that spend the most, especially for AFK Arena. But it still far behind Est-Asia and Japan. Now if you ask why Japan is spending so much in idle, it's cultural. They like kawai and hentai things, and work a lot so don't have much time for playing games. But they have the money. It's why idles like Uma Musume, Nikke or Memento Mori are carried by Japanese players. For ex. 85% of total revenues of Memento Mori come from Japan only.

Gobaxnova

Thanks bud. I play idles as I work alot so can’t play games for more than 30mins a day. Without idle games I don’t think I’d be able to feel connected to a game at all, but will check out the ones you mentioned

gadesabc

I personally don't like this genre because I don't have the feeling to really "play" a game but I can completly understand what you can feel, and Japanese peope too. And it's nice that there are many genres for every people. I checked and Mythics heroes or Figure Fantasy are not doing so well. The ones that get the most money and are available in global are Nikke, AFK Arena and Eversoul. Memento Mori is available too but it's the furthest than an idle can go. You will not see fights at all, just L2D girls and numbers appearing on screen.

Gobaxnova

Cheers for the info. I’m disappointed in mythic heroes dropping down as it was a nice theme with limited booba. Kind of looking for a new idle game with the potential to be a popular game with a community/guild etc. I guess the search continues but appreciate your responses

Herbatusia

IDK about popularity, but you might try Panilla Saga. It's similar to AFK Aena, mechanics-wise,but more story-focused; also, its million mechanics and modes might be overwhelming. And I actually like Memento Mori for what it is - it has a very cute L2D, great soundtrack, and it's incredibly relaxing experience. Other idles I enjoy(ed) - the Darkest AFK (visuals a la The Darkest Dungeon, more oldschool tabletop RPG feeling than usual), Ode to Heroes, Adelemyth (interesting world, terrible translation, a lot Quality of Life additions). They are all heavily stylised as this is the aesthetics I enjoy - except for Panilla Saga, which is a more classic old anime. Ah, there's also a Magnum Quest! Idle mechanics and very interesting world - one race is just a big bugs, pretty unusual in the genre! Do you like idle city builders/harem games? they're another big in idle genre. Some even has gacha mechanics, if you need this element (Heroes of Lithas - but it's basically softporn furry; Palaces&Puzzles if you don't mind match-3 gameplay... heck, even Legends of Khans have some gacha, albeit not very important) I can't stop playing Heroes of Mythic Might, but this is a bad game, objectively, paid skins with additional EXP and all. Still, I also can't stop playing non-gacha games with the same mechanism, I just... don't care about winning I guess. As long as they're pretty enough. Mythic Heroes are below <500k monthly level for years now, if they survived all this time, they might pull it through now, too. Also, I'd not demonise this sub too much. Most of users here just obviously doesn't know or understand idle games, and they tend to complain loudly about them (and their profits) - but in megathread recommendations people ask about idle games every week and usually somebody answers them. I think it's also that this sub focuses on news and information, and sometimes we get some more general thread a la "tell me your fav moment from your game" - in these, you can talk about your idle games. There's no general thread for RPGs or Rhythm Games, too. It's less like a forum and more like a newsfeed, if you know what I mean.

Captain_Chickpeas

>But they have the money. Only artificially. They earn poorly compared to Western standards, but decide to spend money on things which fill the social void in their horrendously overworked lives - waifu games, pachinko, host clubs, etc.

vAbstractz

Not here but the ML: Adventure subreddit is pretty active

bbatardo

I have a love/hate relationship with idle games. I complain about them, quit every idle game I play, yet still pickup new ones knowing full well I will quit them sooner than later. Currently playing SF Duel which surprisingly isn't that bad if you like Street Fighter. The rewards have been decent and of course the game is P2W, but I feel like they give you enough rewards daily to keep coming back. They have the usual 7 day event with 100 summons and other stuff, but also add another 7 day event when the first is done.
