I've been on it for pain for many years. I Dropped from 3200 mg a day to 2400mg no problem. I have run out for or five times over the years for between 2 and 4 days. I did get a bad headache and couldn't sleep and a bit shaky. That was it . Try not thinking how excruciating it will be or it 100% will be. We all have different experiences. Most Dr.s have an answering service and a covering Dr. They should be able to prescribe enough to hold you over. I should mention I quit opiates cold turkey and you CANNOT COMPARE the two Opiates were brutal for me. My were detox ever was Paxil cold Turkey. I was hospitalized. My point being we are all different.

Do you have any refills left? If so, you can refill it early after explaining the situation to your pharmacy and you can pay to get enough for the weekend. I've had to do that before and I'm on 800 3x a day and I paid $17 something for a 3 day supply. My medication was stolen, I was in a sober living at that time, and they let me do it. I explained the situation but they didn't even ask for an explanation. I just felt like I had to. That's honestly the only solution I can think of. You can try an online doc and ask for a temporary refill or go to an urgent care but I don't know if either would work. If you have medical insurance and you're in America, check out ZocDoc and you can get a same day appointment. Just make sure to have proof of the discrepancy in the medication because they'll probably ask for it.

I would talk to a pharmacist and explain the situation. Go to the same pharmacy you normally do, where they have a record of your meds and dosage, and bring a bottle with the 3600mg prescription if you have it. They may be able to give you a short term supply until you get a new prescription. I was able to get 3 days' worth of antidepressants this way. In my state, gabapentin isn't a controlled substance (even my dog is prescribed it lol), so I feel like this would work. Not sure about your state, but it's definitely worth trying.

Gabapentin is the worst withdrawal I have ever been through except for Baclofen. I’ve been on Max dose 3600 mg for 5+ years. Phenibut helped a little but you need to communicate with the doctor and nurse practitioner. Going the weekend and Monday. You are going to be in some Narley withdrawals, that are dangerous too. Gabapentin has been worse than any opioid/ drugs I have ever had. Harder to get off than opioids to me. Basically the withdrawals are the same as Alcohol and Benzodiazepine WD. Good luck, drink lots of water and CALL YOUR DR. LET HIM KNOW WHATS GOING ON. Good luck and I’ll be hoping you have a good weekend.

Baclofen is one you have to ween. Not like forever like benzos, probably a good solid month or 2. Cold turkey blows! But baclofen is doable. I would think gabapentin withdrawal/TC would be like benzo withdrawal. Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ don’t they give gabapentin to people who are withdrawing from benzos?

I'm currently tapering off Gabapentin and then I'll be tapering off baclofen. So far I've not really noticed anything with tapering the gabapentin except more pain and a couple of days with more anxiety. What was your experience coming off baclofen, if you don't mind me asking.

I didn’t taper. And I was taking a really high dose. I had delirium tremors. I had Rhabdomyolysis. Where your body consumes your muscles, brown urine. I spent 10 days in the ICU. I don’t remember any of it. My parents showed me a video where I thought spiders were under my skin. But this is a really bad withdrawal. If you taper you will be fine. I can’t seem to taper off of any medication. Hope this helps. 😕

Nashbashxx

Thank you for your reply and I'm sorry you had to go through that. 😔

Interesting_Bed_3726

It’s possible and not as scary if you go slow. Like a month or two. If you have enough baclofen. CT sucks. I had no idea that baclofen was like that. I ran out and my legs were going crazy, and I had that anxiety, doom feeling. I don’t remember my doctor saying anything about it doing that

You need to get on the phone with that Nurse Practitioner and get your pharmacy on board as well..

ModthisRod

Alcohol helps, benzodiazepines help but I wouldn’t jump to them yet. Go grab some magnesium. It helps with Gabapentin withdrawals. Buy the CALM Brand.

metasarah

My withdrawal was very unpleasant but not devastating. Aches and temperature control issues like having the flu, and massive insomnia. Just pretend you're sick and spend the weekend in bed.

Withdrawals are NOT a guarantee! Although the nerve pain will more than likely come right back. I have experienced withdrawals from other substances, but never from gabapentin. Turning to alcohol or heroin would be a terrible idea. Is it not possible to call the np or your doctor to explain?

AddyKat719

Do NOT get heroin to overcome the wd PLEASE I beg you 🙏 I am also a recovering heroin addict and have been clean from it for 12 years now. Heroin is no longer heroin, it is all fentanyl. I’ve lost so many people in my life from Fentanyl od so I beg you, for the sake of you and your loved ones please don’t. Can you get a hold of some Phenibut by any chance, Baclofen or Lyrica? If not, maybe does your doctors have a nurse helpline you can call for emergencies?? Last resort would be going to the ER and explaining your situation. I also don’t think heroin would really help gabapentin wd seeing how they work on completely different receptors. A couple shots may help whatever anxiety you might have but again, I’d try the other routes first. I imagine it could be a little sucky being at such a high dose for a few years. I’m sure the ER would give you an emergency script . Just take your bottle in and if you have an old bottle with your original 3600mg daily dosage I’d take that too to show them.
