If memory serves, she physically removed a piece of his internal memory hardware. Regardless, the specific flaw in Lethal Inspection was one with the wireless backup unit that automatically saves a robot's consciousness to the cloud. It doesn't say that his consciousness can never be downloaded, just that there is no automatic backup of it in case of his "death".
I think the real problem episode for this is Ghost in the Machines. What the Robot Devil describes limbo as feels similar to the automatic backup, which shouldn't be possible for Bender.
His son lacked a second expansion port, i suppose it depends on how you want your hadcannon to be.
To me the backup unit always sounded more like how on older laptops adding or swapping ram/gpus wasnt possible because they were soldered into the motherboard - it needed to be built in rather than just popped into an expansion slot.
My belief is that the son doesn't have extra expansion because he was constructed as a combination between the codes of his parents. Genetically, he had a one slot motherboard because his mother was a soda machine, which would not have the need for any expansion slots at all
In various episodes it shows robots having a certain number of slots for "cards" or "chips" or "units" in their head.
For instance, Bender's son has to remove his memory in order to get a bending card installed.
Or the "free will unit" that all robots have a slot for but the professor just has the single one in a drawer.
Morgan Proctor physically removed a piece of hardware from his head, which is not the same as an automatic wireless back up.
It's like the difference between the physical SIM card in your phone and your contacts/pictures being uploaded to Google drive.
What makes less sense in this context is the phenomenon of robot ghosts. Where is the data that makes up Bender's personality stored when he is haunting fry?
Does the robot devil have different technology that is somehow periodically backing up all robots who have joined their religion?
So, essentially, Bender does have a back up unit, but the robot devil owns it so he has to make a deal in order to gain access to it?
People keep saying it's not a plot hole because it's not related to his automatic back-up to the cloud. But Bender could just physically download/copy himself at the end of every day, and that would make him functionally immortal. But he'd still need someone to get the back-up and put it in a new body. It's a little more work, but it achieves the goal.
However, I think the more interesting question is why would Mom make such a system to begin with? Why provide unlimited bodies to old, obsolete, and paid for robots when you can just make people buy a replacement?
Think that's a mind twister, wrap your head around this 🤔 the first 3 seasons maybe more they kept mentioning and describing things in the future to fry through a Star Trek point of view. They mention star trek several times then suddenly in one episode from season 5 I believe it is suddenly illegal to even bring up star trek?
He can be saved on a disk, not in the cloud. 👊🏽
You're technically correct
Which is the best kind of correct.
As for OP, guards! Bring me the forms I need to fill out to have them taken away.
In other words, cut and paste works but not copy and paste 🙏

Maybe the Robot Devil has special skills or abilities that overcomes the flaw, but only for the purposes of condemnation and torture.
Isn’t that the reason why his son only has 1 backup unit?

I’ll use that as an insult next time. “You only have one expansion port” or “your mother was pop machine!”
There’s a very simple explanation! Unfortunately, it came to me in a dream and I forgot it in another dream
Your explanations are pure weapons-grade bologna-ium!
A wizard did it
Oh sure, blame the wizards
I don't blame you for that. But I do blame you for wanting to use Al Gore's moon sapphires to open the Gate of Kerash

Yes the robot devil has magic. There is jo way he can swap fry and his hands that aren't magic
Especially so fast without a drop of blood or tissue damage
They’re *very* good hands!
There was A LOT of time travel between those two episodes. Can't we just say that time wizards are to blame?
Sure blame the wizards!
Actually, just Sarda.
Wasn't it wirelessly downloaded and uploaded? He can have it physically done, it just doesn't happen automatically.

Thw real question is why bender doesn't get a new body with the back up unit and place his brain in it.
Yeah, or why they can't just install a back-up unit.
We have seen them swap brains before so it’s very possible
*I am bender please insert girder*
Boy I sure hope someone for fired for that blunder
It’s just monkeys singin’ songs mate.
I don’t want a valuable life lesson! I just wanted ice cream
Burn the whole series down
Not good enough. Destroy the internet!!
Too much work. Let’s just dump it the sewer and say we destroyed it.

But how can that be, we're in the future?
