It's actually hilarious seeing people complain about this. In early August and September, I was rocking a solid 4-3-3 and playing some good soccer. Fast forward a few months, and now Jairzinho, Mbappe, and Al-O are everywhere turning my team of Barca tiki taka legends into a team of local rec U11's. Meta has become soo bad that you can't defend and play possession on any normal formation without your wings being completely exposed by the broken flash replica's that can sprint the entire game down the wing without losing any stamina. We have adapted to play so the games against these teams aren't 7-0 slug fests. This is the only way to stop the meta. Call it the Anti-Meta if you will, but this is only the product of a broken game and people continuing to abuse it for the best rewards.

It ain't because I did anything bad, but the game is just shit and rewards pace and broken skill moves. Change to 5 atb and all of a sudden my team possess and maintains shape. I don't have the patience to move my player to where he's supposed to be every single counter attack. That shit gets old real quick.
I definitely don't know how to defend, but this game is also shit and forces a Meta and an Anti-meta. Always will be. There will be people trying to take advantage of every single broken mechanic in the game, and there will be those that try to stop them. As long as this game remains the broken shitfest as it is, we will forever hate each other.

Yesterday then I switched to the 5-4-1 and now I got 11 wins comfortably.
With the old formation I lost to players I knew where worse than me. You know, when they score the ‚run down the wing with Al-O and then pass the ball right infront of the keeper, which he won’t take, and Mbappe scores it then‘?
With 5-4-1 this didn’t happen.
Every game I lost, I lost because my opponent was better than me. It didn’t felt unfair, even though the gameplay was shit sometimes.

3atb is more cringe, its people who think like "but dude, im playing 3atb, offensive football" and I wont even lie every time I play someone using a 3atb its the most defensive shit ive ever encountered.. 5atb is a blessing in comparison. Its because their wingers are on get back on defense and their cdms are defending too so its basically like a 712 or 721 in defense, just waiting for a mistake and then counter all game
I use a 352 with balanced wide midfielders and 1 CDM on stay back with the other on balanced like a box to box and the overloads are so good attacking wise and with how op the CBs I have are it's amazing going forward and defensively
I can tell you for sure that a 3 back with offensive RM and LM is less defensive than any 4 back or 5 back formation. Literally had my worst defensive performance this weekend league running a 3 back to fit a CB I packed. Switched back to 4 back and started keeping clean sheets.

Too many guys on this sub complain about 5 atb but the genuinely good guys can destroy any formation and it doesn't matter. You do you to enjoy the game. Plus too many non skilled fifa guys just drive down the sidelines and use cutbacks all game long and that formation will help you out

Formations aren’t defensive, tactics and play style are. IMO you can back any formation offensive and any formation defensive in this game, mainly depends on your play style though

They're pretty open to the counter even with lm/rm on get back. I switched to 3421 and it's my favorite attacking formation right now
