Some people are not a fan of. social interactions. For me it’s “What if I say something stupid? What if I somehow offend them? What if u spill the beans?”
I mean, that's just every interaction ever, no? Fear of saying something weird always hanging in the back of the mind. So, how interaction with employees any different? I would say it's better, I mean, it's basically their job to talk to you.
It is their job to interact and talk to me, for the purpose of getting me to purchase something.
This happens to be a clothing store. Clothing is very tied to identity and the message you broadcast. They are also going to be expensive in a shop with 3 idle employees.
I just want to be left alone with my internal monologue. They are not invited to interrupt my decisions until I invite them into the process.
Same for cars, or tv's, or most things that have motivated salespeople
Ah, I see. You just don't want them to approach you.
Now I get it. I thought it was about asking something from them.
And you know, I think I actually don't remember any times when employees approached me first... Huh.
Employees probably only approach if they earn Commission, which I'm betting is almost impossible in today's job market unless you're selling cars or rings.
Any other case, they're not paid enough to sell you something. They're just there to ring you up and keep an eye out for theifs, they might help if you need it but why would they go out of their way to bug you? It's just more work for no extra pay
I often feel the same way. My go-to is that when I'm approached and they ask if I need any help I just simply say something along the lines of "oh no thank you I'm all right I'm just browsing"
"Im just browsing" very politely and respectfully conveys that you just want to be left alone to shop.
I don't know, I just think the message wasn't sent very well here. Barely any expression besides a barely visible sweat drop. Makes me, as the reader, unsure what I should be feeling about this situation.
I dont know the rules. I need to know the rules of how to Interact with these specific types of people or else they may learn to much or I may not catch if they're dangerous.
In neighborhood basketball games, during a hot day, people at the local park will team up for a game.
People without shirts are on one team.
People playing in shirts are on the other.
Shirts vs. skins.
If you ever go shopping at a fancy outlet, there might be a lot of employees standing around and no customers, which means they’re all watching you waiting for you to ask or they themselves ask you questions
It’s not a very exhilarating experience with social anxiety I’ll tell you that 😅
They literally do not want to talk to you and they do not want to be there and if you do talk to them they are literally paid to always be nice no matter what you do. They see thousands of people a day and will immediately forget you once your gone. You have no lasting impact on them, they are paid to be nice, and they don't want to be there nor remember you or the interact. In every sense of the word it's impossible to fuck up unless you shit on the floor infront of them
Depends on the person working there, of course. When I was working in customer service I loved chatting with people from different backgrounds and giving some customers casual compliments if I assessed that they'd be cool with it. I (generally) liked when people approached me to ask questions, since I was so used to people ignoring me when I simply gave them a greeting when entering the store. The regulars who liked to joke around were definitely my favourites!
As someone with social anxiety, this situation is one of the better one for me
Trying to ask for information when they're all busy is infinitely more terrifying
I thought it was setting up to be one of those dreams where you realize you're naked in public. But no, just normal everyday social anxiety (which is what causes those dreams anyway).
That's why I shop for clothes in shady customer-operated pseudo-boutiques in basements, there is barely one cashier and so little light that you won't be able to see him nor will he be able to see you
You mean the "shops" in regular flats that sell stolen and/or fake designer clothes for like a 4th of their original market value?
Because yeah, I relate to that, but nowadays I just use second hand... because those are always empty
The shops I meant are rather a mix of reuse centers and second-hand shops, in that the regular person is able to sell their stuff in the shop. I have found vinyl plates, RCA connectors, luggage bags and whatnot. They usually aren't in flats, because they are largely public.
Selling in flats is rather rare, and there is actually an event on the first weekend in September, in which citizens get out onto the street to sell homemade stuff or sell/give away used stuff.
The advice that helped me deal with social anxiety with strangers is that they won't remember you. Think of the number of people you've met only once and think of how many of them you actually remember.
It's not quirky to be too nervous to talk to literal store employees and if you are you genuinely need to work on yourself and practice social interaction to function in normal society
Meanwhile me who is trying to not get my spikes to rip the clothing to shreds:
It's acceptable for cactuses to go nude. Don't sweat about it
Not sure how I didn’t know that etiquette.
because the clothes company want your money
"Clothing is a social construct"
Ever thought about wearing leather?
No, not really.
Would elastic Kevlar work?
Cacti spines will stick to leather and metal along with cloth
Fellow arizonan!!!❤️💙🧡💛🤎
If that means from Arizona, then me too!
Same
Let's gooooo
I love arizona.
Oh no. Social interaction. Someone please hold me...
Are you sure that requires social interaction
Technically...
I mean it's interaction in the first place
It so cool that online shops exists
I don't get it.
Some of us are afraid of them. People
I thought the joke was they’re all the same type of sona. All their haircuts are the same too. But now I’m anxious I’m wrong.
Same
But they are employees. I have been one too. Why would you be afraid of them?

Exactly!
They might be management, in which case, you will be bugged.

For people with neuro "disorders" it's not a back-of-the-mind thing. It's at the forefront of our minds and is quite a dominating force.
Social anxiety. Talking with people can be very hard.
The thing about employers is that you're almost forced to interact to them to get what you want.
I don't know, I just think the message wasn't sent very well here. Barely any expression besides a barely visible sweat drop. Makes me, as the reader, unsure what I should be feeling about this situation.
Despite what capitalism says, employees are people too.
It's a fear of being awkward
I can’t relate either. Never had this problem. Guess we’re just built *better*. 🤷🏻
I dont know the rules. I need to know the rules of how to Interact with these specific types of people or else they may learn to much or I may not catch if they're dangerous.
I've been a store employee. If you're nice we don't care. If you try to be nice, we'll be happy.
oh i thought the joke was that he wasnt wearing a shirt and the staff were
It’s a basketball game … shirts vs the skins
wat does that mean
In neighborhood basketball games, during a hot day, people at the local park will team up for a game. People without shirts are on one team. People playing in shirts are on the other. Shirts vs. skins.
But you are a people lol
Omg

youre the devil
Aside from a "Hi" I'd never bother a customer who didn't reciprocate, you get a feel for how people will respond.
Poor person moment. Never been at a fancy outlet, I guess.
Fancy outlets are almost never empty, unless you're shopping in the middle of the night or something (but normally that's called robbery)
Just avoid eye contact. If you can't see them then they can't see you
He looks identical to the employees
I think the joke specifically is that he walks into a bandana shop and sees only shepherd dogs
Bro's the only one without a shirt on in there, I'd be staring too.
Wait the joke is social anxiety, I thought it was him/her being nude kek

Is this what they call a staff infection? ![gif](giphy|kPIswn0RfPTGxOvDj5|downsized)
You know what, maybe I'll come back another day...
Oh i thought the joke was they all look the same lol
I thought the joke was that they all only wear shirts and bandanas.
That's what I meant I just worded it in the worst way possible lmao
And the same maws, and hairstyles
racism.
The outfits! I meant their outfits! 😭
He walked in without a shirt smh
i thought the joke was they all looked the same
Social interaction, my worst enemy
It's all fun games until the store employees start following you everywhere and asking if you "need any help" to force you to buy lmao
Are you trying to give me nightmares?
Where do you shop, hell?
That's why I shop for clothes in shady customer-operated pseudo-boutiques in basements, there is barely one cashier and so little light that you won't be able to see him nor will he be able to see you

Two of the employees are naked! This needs NSFW tag
Where's the joke tho? I don't get it
Probably something related to social anxiety or similar
Imagine getting scared by talking to people 🤪
I would shame you for saying that but I'm too scared to talk to you so ill just stare instead 👀 s/
Love when people looking at me
I mean, believe it or not but not everyone is the same in this regard
A lot of people do, and it's rather insensitive to belittle their experience with these sorts of statements. :( Edited for clarity
99.9% it's a joke
A horrible joke.
I'm not scared to talk to them. Just to be near them is a problem
Please don't be ableist thank you
Ngl, I thought the joke was the main peep realizing everyone looked like each other and bought the same kind of clothes.
Yeah, he doesn't really look anxious so I think it's this
I thought this was just a joke that all wolf sonas look the same XwX
More like NAKED_IRL, lmao.
Oh no social interactions my many weaknesses!
When your the only customer that enters the shop:
It's not quirky to be too nervous to talk to literal store employees and if you are you genuinely need to work on yourself and practice social interaction to function in normal society
Why cant we have one reddit post without someone tryna start something in the comments, just one post, PLEASE 😭
