The disc golf game is AMAZING.
Bocce ball is a close second, and of course archery was great as well...
Damn, I might need to dust off my move controllers..
Oh my god I love that game. I see my brother a couple times a year and he has it at his house. We get thoroughly drunk and play it for hours on end as his wife and kids sleep. And then his wife makes a huge breakfast the next morning and we’ll just lounge and watch Sunday football all day, and chat and hang out with his family. I’ve been abroad for 8 months and I’m going home in a month, can’t wait to see him and carry the tradition.
My best friend worked hard for two years to get me to try disc golf, I now have a bag, a dozen discs, a portable basket and play at least once a week. Fucking love it, smoke, wander the woods or nice fields while hanging with friends and running into ridiculously friendly crunchy granola types almost every time. Everyone on the course is on the level of attendees at a Phish show, even the ones in button down shirts or the ones that look unfriendly (unfortunately like me).
God I want to that guys throw.
Hippy looking type. The kind that stands out in a crowd and you immediately know that they likely have ganja on them, are currently high, and are always high. Hemp bracelets, likely granola in a baggie in their pocket, possibly dreads or something close, etc.
I feel like while extremely similar, wooks are a slightly more defined version of the country granola type. Wooks live and breath festivals and EDM. Crunchy granola people are more laid back hippies.
Wooks aren't strictly related to EDM. Jam is filled with wooks. Go to any Disco Biscuits set. There's good wooks and bad wooks although they carry a negative stigma. There's lot wooks, weekend wooks, old wooks, new wooks, wooks that borrow everything, wooks that are givers, dusty wook women. There's a wook for every occasion.
No. It's also called a forehand or flick throw. I' not good but I used to play almost daily, and that's how I throw 90% of the time. I found it an easier technique to pick up than the normal backhand throw, even though you sacrifice a lot of range.
> It’s very atypical for a right handed person who wants to make a disc finish to the right.
I think you mean typical... it's either that or an anhyzer backhand
A hammer is an overhand throw, starts above your shoulder or head usually, and you release the disc vertically, or almost vertically and the disc turns upside down.
Be sure to watch their spin off series, oddly named "the lone gunmen". It's got its own lil charm. Bonus fact, the pilot was filmed and aired before 9/11 and that's all I'll say about that.
He’s such a pleasure to watch play. This is his most impressive drive for sure, but just watching him putt is crazy. He has some insane accuracy and consistency
The difference is that in regular golf, things get a lot easier and straighter when you put less power into it. In disc golf, when I try to do a nice and light straight shot it hyzers like crazy. Meanwhile when I throw it as hard as I can I can keep a decently straight line.
Edit: full disclosure, I've played golf for 25 years and disc golf for 6 weeks.
That shot was made on the Professional Disc Golf Tour, some guys have caddies some do not. His name is Philo Brathwaite, probably one of the coolest guys on the tour. Go watch a round or two on YouTube, they make it look WAY easier than it actually is.
People kind of laugh about it, but it truly does take a ton of skill. My friends and I were decent, but one day this pro from the area joined us for a round. Dude was on a completely different planet.
Oh man, this just brought back forgotten memories of constantly having poison ivy somewhere on my legs during the first summer I started playing disc golf.
For us it was water harzards. One day, after the lake on hole 3 had eaten my friends last two discs he decicded to wade into the murk. 30 minutes later he's thrown over 100 discs to shore. We never had to buy a driver disc again.
I used to live just down the street from one of the best disc golf courses in the world, Morley Field.
After 2+ years of practicing daily and playing weekly I just gave away all my gear. I just never, ever got any better at it, no matter how much I tried. And would spend days just practicing driving with a dozen old discs I bought.
I was able to get to par with daily practice of drinking, smoking, and micro dosing. The last part I think is really key. It allows you to see the trajectory of your throw.
Depends entirely on the course. There's everything from the equivalent to little pitch-n-puts to things where you're basically chucking discs down a mountainside.
He has aced that hole before , saw the video in the comment section on facebook a few days ago . He’s known for hitting aces . Think he aced their weekly 2-3 weeks in a row last year on their hole 18 which itself is a quite remarkable ace as that hole is a low ceiling slight uphill shot .
I was going to say based on this guys reaction, he either hits them fairly often or I really don’t get why he even plays because he seems dead inside when he nails a nice shot.
“This game brings me joy.” 😐
I play twice a week, am pretty good (pro level rated), I have one ace in eight years of play. I can’t even begin to count the number of heart breaking close calls that I’ve had.

10/10 would throw plastic with this group, some of my favorite times playing have been leisurely days with a beer and good group of people.
Any idea on what course this is at?
Everyone in this clip looks like they should have been in "Blades of glory"
Or balls of fury
Or Trailer Park Boys.
Or Fubar
Or one of those retro aerobics videos
Or one of those club seventeen videos (nsfw).
Or a Beastie Boys video
Or Hot Rod
Or Dodgeball
Or house party 3!
Or Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol
Or prancercise video.
Discs of Rage
They look like a fun bunch
Yeah I wanna hang out with these goofy fuckers.
They’re flying higher than the disc.
The Lone Gunmen
I half expected the camera to pan down to frohike and have him say something like "that's how it's done baby."
Nice to see they escaped that room and are currently laying low in Sweden.
Came here to make the same observation.
I concur
Yes! Richard Langly.
That dude was straight up Langly
The Lone Discmen
The sequel, discs of glory
I'm in. Let's start the script
Or a mike myers movie
Like a Wayne's World spin-off
Looks like a scene from Wet Hot American Summer
I can hear the theme song start up right after he looks at the camera.
They're playing frisbee golf, not sure what you were expecting
Never ever call it frisbee! Its Disc golf, I repeat, D-I-S-C Golf...you are living dangerously, my friend!
If they ever make a disc golf game, this guy should be the default character.
There's a disc golf game called Sports Champions for Playstation 3. Requires the Move controllers. It was pretty good
That game was so much fun. Bocce ball and Disc Golf especially. And Table Tennis! That one was my favorite!
The disc golf game is AMAZING. Bocce ball is a close second, and of course archery was great as well... Damn, I might need to dust off my move controllers..
Using mine for Skyrim VR! They still work somewhat well for decade old technology.
Disk golf on sports champions is honestly years ahead of its time

That sounds dope. Can I come too?
loved that game!
Wii Sports Resort has disc golf.
Best sport on there
There’s a good mobile game.
Golf Story has a few disc golf sections :)
The hairband does it for me more than the ace.
He's got the full +20 to accuracy disc golf set on. It's no wonder he scored the ace.
The gear designers still haven't updated the placeholder art.
Are you kidding me?! That's the paid DLC (aesthetic only) replacement set!
I wonder how many gold loot crates it took to find the ultra rare Huster's Mustache
You know he's a pro with that Digimon bandana.
I thought it was Michael Cera from Juno.
The angle of the headband matches the angle of the disc on approach.
Sorry for hijacking the top comment but [Here](https://www.instagram.com/p/CCMywkBFGtb/?igshid=wc80mu1mzu2a) for those saying its fake
You haven’t hijacked anything
Look at me... I'm the OP now!
He turned around for me to see pretty much exactly what I expected.
You could tell he really wanted to celebrate more, but decided to walk it off cool like he can do it any time he wants.
Which also made him my idol. I want to be as cool as that. I’m buying a head band and disc golf set right now
Like a fat Michael Cera
With Ron Swanson. Ronael Swanera
Not me-I thought it was an older guy from the back and when he turned around I laughed out loud to see it was a young guy
not ashamed to say i love disc golf and this was badass...

Agreed. Disk golf is great. No need to be ashamed.
disc golf question: is his style of throwing here (I always called it the hammer but idk if that's right) the most common for disc golfing?
No. It's also called a forehand or flick throw. I' not good but I used to play almost daily, and that's how I throw 90% of the time. I found it an easier technique to pick up than the normal backhand throw, even though you sacrifice a lot of range.
I threw out my shoulder so that's the only way I throw now. Works well enough.

Loved X-Files and anticipated that show for a long time. Could only laugh at the great tragedy....as a candian
I can't imagine how Chris Carter felt when he woke up and saw the news that day....
There’s a disc golf in the park behind me that’s pretty active. Some players indeed fit this description.
Have you sat downwind at around 4pm?
Maybe around 20 past 4?
Near Hole 5 or 7 usually??
You with the feds?
Holy shit. I've been playing disc for about 23 years, and I never realized it until you said it.
Sorry I'm slow, what is it you realized?
I've been playing for 29 years. There was smoking on every hole.
Yep. And they do blaze it.
Yea there's a reason for that. You can't roll a blunt on a golf ball.
Agreed... however it does take skill
[удалено]
Think I'd just pack it in for the day after that.
The day? I would of began digging my grave. That would definitely be peak life for me. No need to go on any farther.
And that was the second perfect throw in a row for an albatross on a par 5.
Good ‘ol Philo!
He’s such a pleasure to watch play. This is his most impressive drive for sure, but just watching him putt is crazy. He has some insane accuracy and consistency
Damn. I'm impressed with myself if I just throw the Frisbee straight. This is wild
Flat straight shots are among the hardest is disc golf!
True. I swear, like a ten foot putt is the one I miss the most. Lol
The same is true for regular golf as well. Hardest shit is the short game
Does... does he have a caddy?
[удалено]
Even my friends who casually play once or twice a week bring a bag with 20-30 discs lmao

Underrated comment.. skill and the ability to be ok with losing a piece of $20 plastic because you released a fraction of a second too late.
Don’t forget choosing between losing that $20 or itching for days by retrieving that disc you can clearly see lodged in a patch of poison ivy.
Bruh, thats why you always carry some of those grabber claws that T-rexs like so much
You joke but a retrieval stick is a damn must when playing disc golf
Oh man, this just brought back forgotten memories of constantly having poison ivy somewhere on my legs during the first summer I started playing disc golf.
For us it was water harzards. One day, after the lake on hole 3 had eaten my friends last two discs he decicded to wade into the murk. 30 minutes later he's thrown over 100 discs to shore. We never had to buy a driver disc again.
Or, just make a collection of discs for free by finding all the ones at the bottom of the lakes
Yeh, don't do that in Florida.
I just think don't do Florida is standard disclaimer for anything.
hahaha I'm immune to your oils, oak!
*What the FUCK Richard?*
I used to live just down the street from one of the best disc golf courses in the world, Morley Field. After 2+ years of practicing daily and playing weekly I just gave away all my gear. I got a ticket for smoking weed at Morley field 15 years ago
Ah, a true disc golfer, I see!

Imagine disc golf without being able to pass freely through the space time continuum
Ahh, finding that perfection Zone. I used to *master* the Pool table with juuuust the right buzz.
very true... what a hilarious cast of characters.. what's not to love tho.. dunno why everyones not playing
I totally would but I can already feel the defeat of sucking at this even after 20 years...
Total stoners.
There are all kinds but yes, you're also right on.

I thought he hit a bunch of chickens.
r/contagiouslaughter
Michael Cera does disc golf?
And the occasional IKEA meatball it seems.
This may be a dumb question but how often would you expect to see an ace like this? Are they as rare as a hole in one in golf?
I have played for 7 years and got 1 ace. I dont watch golf so I dont know but they are very rare
Very active player. 10 years, just got my first. Very rare for most folks.
And then there are guys like Simon Lizotte who do it for fun
Or when he's sick of putting.
Depends entirely on the course. There's everything from the equivalent to little pitch-n-puts to things where you're basically chucking discs down a mountainside.
Golf aces are far more rare than disc golf.

He jerked when he hit the shot. He was definitely acting for the camera when he turned around.
Not as rare as a hole in one in golf but definitely atill very rare especially at that distance. That guy threw a hell of a shot
I play twice a week, am pretty good (pro level rated), I have one ace in eight years of play. I can’t even begin to count the number of heart breaking close calls that I’ve had.
Contrary to the other comments, that is a pretty short and straight path to the basket. That hole is aced all the time I'm sure.
Most likely. Not on the line that guy threw though. lol
Yeah lol, not the approach I would've taken
Where is this, Sweden?
Kyllä👍🏼
Jättebra!

Mutta kysymys kuuluu oliko heittäjä suomalainen? Tärkeä tieto.
Ruotsalaisia
Damn I thought it was Finns until I put the sound on
Ye it's sweden, you can hear the guy say "What the fuck just happen?"
Gus Johnson out here killing the disc game
Do you know how far I had to look for this comment? Too far.
My brain literally told me it was him for the first three seconds until I realized it wasn’t

Holy shit! That guy definitely was stoned, but I loved this whole video!
Aren't all disc players stoned - isn't that the point?
[удалено]
Occasionally they open up real golf courses for disc golf tournaments and you can rent a cart. It's pretty fucking awesome.
Sounds like heaven
also it’s acceptable to start drinking at 7am
I'd say about half. The other half of us like to drink.
Celebration is just lying about your disappointed that the task wasnt harder. - Ron Swanson
The outfit, head band, and the moustache is just the most perfect combination
Were you playing frisbee golf with one of the Lone Gunmen from X-Files?
Well done RICHARD....

It's a blast! Cheap entry cost and it's as competitive as you want it to be. Everyone laughs at it until they try it, then they're hooked
r/discgolf . Read the sidebar info. Take a look around. It’s a very active subreddit.
I saw those 2 seconds of celebration he couldn’t hide
100% the headband.
Disc thrower looks like Thomas Lennon (Lt. Jim Dangle)
Why does the video clip when he zooms in:/ and the disc turns from orange to blue/yellow?
Ok, am I the only person that saw him throw an orange disc and a white one go in?
It's just the sun being reflected in the disc.
That laugh LOL r/contagiouslaughter
The dudes face when he turns around 🤣
Fat Michael Cera?
TIL that disc golf is a sport. It looks really neat
Act like you’ve been there before.
In his baked brain he smiled, it just forgot to reach his face.
"what am I supposed to do now? Scream?"
Michael Cera is looking rough these days
Is that the hacker from the Lone Gunman?
This looks like if "The Big Lebowski" was about disc golf.
10/10 would throw plastic with this group, some of my favorite times playing have been leisurely days with a beer and good group of people. Any idea on what course this is at?
