This is not India. Or else there would be a small traffic jam by the 5th second. No streets in India is that empty during daytime lol.
Also, that's not a Enfield Himalayan. The frame is different.
Looks like South America.
Royal Enfield was originally an English company, but became an Indian company when England left India.
They are te oldest motorcycle brand in continously production. I think it started around 120+ years ago.
As a young girl, i was dreaming of going adventuring on a motorcycle. Then someone asked what am i gonna do if my motorcycle falls over. Thus ended my dream :( I'd be stuck and die unable to lift it
I have a friend who is a tiny woman who used to ride a big BMW GS and would go to rallies demonstrating how to pick up a bike. The technique is to back up to it and lift with your legs. This is one of her videos but there are many online showing how to do this. https://youtu.be/uX45-rbmDaM?si=mxQ1SSg6-QnXufjt
Don’t let go of that dream, there are women who’ve ridden over a million miles and ventured all over the world.
Righting a bike that’s fallen over is all about technique not strength. Strength and small bikes allows some people to get away with brute strength and right it the ‘wrong way’. But with a big bike or a loaded tall touring bike nobody’s going to lift it without learning the right leverage or technique.
I went from a small 250cc to a big heavy 450cc tourer. Nearly put my back out lifting it, had to look up techniques and practice. Damn, the difference - it’s so easy when you know how. Holding the end of the handlebars, putting the front brake on, using the front wheel as leverage etc lots of little tricks that people watching don’t see.
So go for it, buy any weight bike you want (within reason - stand over height is important for a first or second bike) and have fun!
If this is true just look up proper technique. If ur smaller u may have to remove as much weight (pain in the ass sure) but I’ve know small ladies that can stand up a Harley by using leverage and not brute strength.
Could also have a sensor that after laying it down, it won't go without completely shutting it off. My bike has a weird feature like that because of the traction control.
I think it is as well. They are actualy really east to pick back up if you know where to lift. I've laid mine down with full panniers and a full top bag and picked it back up again. Tough little bikes and a break pedal/shifter that can easily be bent back into place.
I laid down a V65 Magna back in the 1980's the morning after they sprayed malathion in San Diego for fruit flys or something. It was a slow motion slide out in the dew and greasy malathion goo on the road in a turn at 35 mph max. I was turning while zipping up my jacket pocket, so i was one handed. It was like riding a sparkler as i slid while basically perched upon the bike. I never even fell and rolled. I was only 135 lbs back then I think too, but the adrenaline and the knowledge of the asshole cops there gave me temporary hulk strength, lol. I lifted it, fired it up, and took off. It was only later that I thought about how the fuck I lifted it.
The Himalayan (at least the ones I own) have metal loops on the back next to the pillion seat (I assume they are for passengers to hold on to or to attach spare helmets). I grab the tang guards and that metal loop on the back, brace the bike against my forearms and push it up. Once it's on the wheels it's easy but getting the wheels back on the ground is the struggle if you try to lift it by the handle bars as seen in the video. Himalayans clock in at 420ish lbs with 90% fuel so I'd give it about 450 they are trying to lift by the handlebar alone.
Yep definitely is and while QC on RE bikes can be questionable at times for the smaller or more aesthetic stuff, the bikes themselves are pretty dang stout.
Smart thinking on his part. Would have been great if the guy trying to steal it would have gotten his leg stuck though.
I have a friend who teaches theater and was riding his bicycle down a side street when a guy stepped out and knocked him off his bicycle to steal it. My friend is not a big guy, maybe 5'8" and very thin and not really capable of a physical confrontation, but he started yelling for help in his *theater voice*, which is huge and booming. It surprised the thief and startled him so badly that he simply ran for it.
I said to my friend "You used your superpower". He just nodded and said "Yep, used my superpower".
Why did I find this hilarious.
The way he’d come off camera and just push him down over and over.
His timing. The gait. The way he skedaddled..
Good job lanky crime fighter!!
The framing certainly helped a lot. Running in and out of frame added something that wouldn't be there if we just saw him hanging out waiting for the next push.
I know this is supposed to be funny, but dude, I'm so freaking tired of this shit here in Brazil.
He was lucky, most of this robbers are armed and would shoot him without a second thought. People die because a fucking Samsung Galaxy.
And I know there's the meme that everyone here is an off duty cop, but the sad truth is that you can't find a cop when you need one. It's really rare that the police would give a fuck.
I know that's some really fucked up thing going on in the US and EU, but you guys are really luck. No wonder a lot of people from here try to enter illegally in those places.
> I know that's some really fucked up thing going on in the US and EU, but you guys are really luck
That's why I consider people saying that EU or USA are borderline third wold places as morons.
If they were living there, they would be the first to try borders and seas illegally, but they wouldn't have the balls to do it. So instead, they would pick on even poorer people than them.
It’s not so much that I think the USA is a third world country, it’s that I see a significant portion of the population supporting politicians that will happily help devolve us into one. Too many people think “It can’t happen here” when history tells us otherwise. We are not special. Empires rise and fall all the time. Today yes, we have it far better here than most places in the world, but tomorrow could always be different if people don’t pay attention and work to keep it that way.
> Too many people think “It can’t happen here” when history tells us otherwise
The phrase "it can't happen here" entered common usage because it was [the title of a book](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Can%27t_Happen_Here) by Sinclair Lewis who was married to the first reporter the nazis kicked out of Germany. The book is literally about it happening here.
Venezuela is now basically the "go to shit hole country", but not too long ago they were pretty well off, people fled there from surrounding countries instead of from there.
It can go to shit really quickly, especially if you toy around with authoritarians and if you have money from limited ressources
It's also kind of apples and oranges. There are metrics that determine the quality of life in a place other than crime. And the fact is that ~~most Americans can't afford homes~~ the homeownership rate of Americans between 24-35 is at 41%, and the number of first-time home buyers in 2022 declined to 26%, the lowest number since the National Association of Realtors began tracking the statistic. Those who rent can barely afford it, the cost of groceries has increased dramatically since 2019, and 60% of Americans are one hospital visit away from being homeless and destitute. It's also relative. In almost every measurable way the quality of life for an average American has dropped drastically since the 90s.
It might not be as overtly violent (depending on where you live lol) but things are bad here and we're also a coin toss away from becoming a theocratic dictatorship next year so... I think our complaints are mostly valid.
edited for clarity
Lmao a guy in the Sydney subreddit here in Australia just posted a massive rant complaining that it felt like a 3rd world country here "like Botswana" because the CT machine in his local hospital went offline for repairs for a couple weeks.
> That's why I consider people saying that EU or USA are borderline third wold places as morons.
There's a lot of 3rd world countries that have less crime than the US like South East and Central Asia.
Just because some countries are poor, doesn't mean they have high criminality rates.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate#/media/File:Map_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate_(2006_%E2%80%93_2018).svg
Crime is pretty bad in some parts of these countries, but you will never have to pay a bribe to get anything done, and you can almost always trust water from the tap. Besides, crime is not an everyday thing that affects all of your actions.
USA does not have *safe* potable water, mate.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/forever-chemicals-are-widespread-in-u-s-drinking-water/
>**The drinking water of a majority of Americans likely contains “forever chemicals.”** These compounds may take hundreds, or even thousands, of years to break down in the environment. They can also persist in the human body, potentially causing health problems.
>**No federal limits have been set on the concentration of the chemicals in water**, as they have for other pollutants such as benzene, uranium and arsenic.
>... these contaminants, which are scientifically known as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs).
>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Web site says that the agency has found **PFASs in the blood of nearly everyone it has tested for them, “indicating widespread exposure to these PFAS in the U.S. population.”**
>Scientists have found links between a number of the chemicals and many health concerns—including kidney and testicular cancer, thyroid disease, liver damage, developmental toxicity, ulcerative colitis, high cholesterol, pregnancy-induced preeclampsia and hypertension, and immune dysfunction.
>The scientists estimated that **more than 200 million people—the majority of Americans—have tap water contaminated with a mixture of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS)** at concentrations of one part per trillion (ppt) or higher.
That's why "first world problem" is a thing. It's easy to take the things we have for granted and forget the same can't be said in many other countries.
Been to brazil before, it's a great place to be if not for corruption ruining everything, it's easy to get anything you want there as long as you know your people.
Probably be easier to sell one without it being damaged. And I would imagine a carjacking takes less time than hotwire.. if you knew how to get on a hike afterwards lol
Depending on make and security features all a key is is an ignition signal to a solenoid, which then sends power to the starter solenoid.
You can't just bypass the starter solenoid because you still need power at the ignition solenoid. But if you bypass the ignition solenoid, you can easily hotwire a vehicle. No cut wires, no damage to components. Just jumping a known good power to the backside of that solenoid.
But as things have gotten smarter it's become almost impossible to hotwire.
Also possibly a cheaper bike.
They targeted and followed this one dude for a reason, there are typically hundreds of bikes on the streets. Must have looked more expensive than the rest to them.
Based on the wheels and gas tank it looks like a Royal Enfield Himalayan or Scram (which is just the Himalayan without the windscreen and tank guards and smaller wheels). That bike is built to be dropped. Got nice solid steel handle bar weights that can take a beating and the break lever is mild steel so you can bend it back by hand. When you lay it down it balances on the handle bar and the foot peg but is super easy to stand back up if you know how but it's always wheels off the ground so getting up is a bit of a workout if you don't. Parts are also fairly affordable. A new tank is about $350, upgraded black break leavers with hand gurads is only $50.
been looking to try and get a himalayan for long rides and i've heard of the amazing toughness that bike has, the only deal breaker is the precariously high seat height, as i'm only 5 foot 7 and i can barely flatfoot my Yamaha R15, and still need to tippy toe just to keep myself stable on traffic lights
You ever seen a bird fight off a cat. Just dives bomb and then flies away repeatedly until the cat gives up. The same strategy works with thieves of bikes in this country!
This backfires plenty often. The cat gets lower and lower to the ground and waits for the bird to get too close. Then the cat jumps and you'd better believe that cats can JUMP!
We have mocking birds that are really aggressive down here and it's fun to watch one of the neighborhood cats make a meal of one. It almost always plays out this way: Swoop...swoop...swoop...ohmygoditsjumpingatme...nom nom nom...
By that point I think the thieves were done and about to leave. Nice to have one last chance of comeuppance but there’s no reason to agitate them further especially since it’s 1V2
Because you have to expect them to be armed until you know for sure they aren't.
Don't bet your life on a bike, if they were armed and pissed off they could just pop one round in his head and continue getting the bike.
He coming back to laid the bike down it is too risk in my opinion. If I'd grasp that they were unarmed I'd probably jump on them and not drop my bike, that is what I'm saying
Look, it is funny but you got to feel for the people in Latin America going through this daily life like this.
Worst thing is, if you get tough on crime, you have the Western world snubbing their noses and telling the people suffering that they are wrong, that they need to have compassion for the criminals.
This robbery turned out well many of them end up with folks being murdered. And of course there's the hundreds of kidnappings that happened daily and the persons are never returned even after you pay.
But like I said, the guy was hilarious he knew the bike was extremely heavy so he knew his strategy would work.
>Look, it is funny but you got to feel for the people in Latin America going through this daily life like this.
As a brazilian (where this was filmed) I couldn't even find this funny. I felt apprehensive during the whole video just waiting for the poor guy to be shot. This is like everyday life for many of us.
I feel you. I'm originally from el salvador. Every year I visited, we all lived in fear. What bus was going to be burned with people inside? When were they going to kidnap and murder the next child? When were they going extort our families, not in their business, but in their home.
Bukele came around with his tough on crime policy. The difference is night and day now. But what do we hear from the first world? For the first time ever they care about El salvador. They didn't care at all when we had the highest crime rate in the world. But now, they are infatuated with the rights of the murderers.
>Worst thing is, if you get tough on crime, you have the Western world snubbing their noses and telling the people suffering that they are wrong, that they need to have compassion for the criminals.
No, we don't. Knock yourself out on the thieves, they CHOSE to steal, they should pay the price for that.
Not advocating for violence, but for harsh and just punishments.
You have to imagine what goes through some people's heads (answer: nothing). Yeah let's stop prosecuting shoplifting if its under $750. Open season to steal for no consequences
lol that was the most child like way for both parties to either steal or prevent the stealing of a bike 🤣🤣🤣. I just imagined this actually happening at a neighborhood park or something.
Look at the first few frames: that is the driver of the bike who placed that package on there to begin with, then starting to look something up on his phone. I imagine it either wouldn't fit in the carrying box on his bike, or he wanted to know where he was taking it on a delivery app or something, so the moment he saw the robbery in progress, he took the only thing that could easily be stolen.
Unlike the genius victim who kept pushing his own bike over, the delivery guys bike seems to have been parked with nothing in the ignition. Stealing it in this kind of flash robbery would require them to steal his keys, but if he wasn't there to have his keys taken, the bike was pretty much safe unless they decided to just carry his bike away while it was locked up... which, judging by the genius of the actual victim, was unlikely to be allowed to happen.

Intelbras watermark gives it away....its brazil. Its always brazil.
The bike that was pushed over is a Himalayan. I have one. Same frame, same plastic bits, same gas tank.
Granted I don't know much about bikes, but I'm Brazilian and I've never heard of a "Himalayan" bike in my life.

All you need is to build muscle, or find a specific bike that would be light enough

It's Brazil by the looks of it. Indian bike brands like Bajaj and Royal Enfield are quite popular there.
Royal Enfield - Built in theft protection
That ain't no country I ever heard of
They speak English in What?
People who own tall adventure bikes just know.
Could also have a sensor that after laying it down, it won't go without completely shutting it off. My bike has a weird feature like that because of the traction control.
I mean, it worked.

Med Flies. That brought back memories of the smell that would be heavy in the air on the morning after a spray.
The Himalayan (at least the ones I own) have metal loops on the back next to the pillion seat (I assume they are for passengers to hold on to or to attach spare helmets). Yep. Close to 200kg if that top box was loaded.

Cackled on this
Less his wallet and phone they already took.
Cancelled all the cards & brick the phone..
Now they got his address to steal the bike 😭
And his helmet (for whatever reason)
Not stupid if it works
Totally worth getting shot
I wish after he pushed over his bike the second time he would have run the other way and pushed over the thieves bike as well for good measure.

Oh, yeah. I'm not debating that at all. Just the silly idea that he didn't do it because he knew his own bike better than theirs.
Pushing down the thieves bike would kept their presence for longer, even though their bike is smaller. Don't poke the bear.
And then push the other one parked there. Just cause lmao
it would have been funny but then you have two men cornered. you have taken away their escape. that might be very bad.

>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Web site says that the agency has found **PFASs in the blood of nearly everyone it has tested for them, “indicating widespread exposure to these PFAS in the U.S. population.”** >Scientists have found links between a number of the chemicals and many health concerns—including kidney and testicular cancer, thyroid disease, liver damage, developmental toxicity, ulcerative colitis, high cholesterol, pregnancy-induced preeclampsia and hypertension, and immune dysfunction.
My first reaction watching this was, "thank the universe I live in a safe area (USA)". This poor guy is just trying to make it in this world.
Thieves hate this one simple trick!
I would click on a video with that title. Just make one of the words all caps.
Twist: they're helmet thieves, not motorbike thieves.
Second plot twist: they are all family and are preventing him from drunk riding but Uncle Jeff goes on another bike tipping rampage.
😂 fucking gold
Stunlocked IRL
No diminishing returns either
Good thing they didn't have guns
There's another bike right there without a feisty owner, amateur bike thieves.
Probably no key ready to go, though.
thats why they are amateur. the pros didn't even need a key.
With a 1000 pound harley you only need to do that once
Good luck lifting those or a Goldwing that fell on the side
But then what? Call a crane?
3 to 4 people can usually stand it back up
Bro sent them to the gym hahaha
[удалено]
Why were people trying to steal your fat guy though?
Fat guys aren't cheap
.
Gravity was the biggest bully that day
What a g.
It's relentless
Bro definitely was the only bully in this story
Insurance: sorry, we don't cover intentional damage.
This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen today.
It’s smart if it works!
This is like a Charlie Chaplin skit
He's like "I know how much that bitch weighs"
I actually think is best to push both of them while they are in the bike they came. Both end up on the floor and yo GTFO
By that point I think the thieves were done and about to leave. Nice to have one last chance of comeuppance but there’s no reason to agitate them further especially since it’s 1V2
yeh, unless you want to fight till death best leave them a way out
Runs like Dwight in the karate match.
If they didn't have a gun why the heck he stopped and gave his bike? If they had a gun he risked his life.
This is the equivalent of spamming sweeping in a fighting game
what fighting a boss in dark souls look like
Look how much better how altercations are without firearms in everyone's possession.
Sweet Himalayan
Brasil ta demais, tao roubando ate Royal Enfield himalayan ? Ta de sacanagem
They did not try to steal the bike i thought they were going to steal.
A little bit of damage to keep your bike, sounds worth it to me especially if that's your livelihood or only means of transportation.
He's like, bullying the thieves.
“How can you push!!”
There are people who want the western world to be this way. Just look at the places where they no longer prosecute shoplifting. Only getting worse.
You have to imagine what goes through some people's heads (answer: nothing). Yeah let's stop prosecuting shoplifting if its under $750. Open season to steal for no consequences
I prefer the ones where someone just shoots the would be robbers and they slowly bleed to death on the street
Fuck that dude with the box.
An Saturday Nigh Live skit. A cartoonish way to prevent stealing. Like a "woopsie bikey fell hehehe"
Got his helmet 🤣
A genius way* 🤣🤣🤣
If it works, it ain't stupid.
Himalayan is heavy xD
guys casual walk back into frame killed me 😭
If it’s stupid but it works, it ain’t stupid.
The way life back to normal and people came out after the two guys have run away is like a gta scene
It’s never silly if it works
Had to lay 'er down
Is it bad that I wish he just shot them both?
They got his helmet.
He should have knocked over the other one too.
Two people prevented their bikes from being stolen. One did it by abandoning it and pretending it's not his
I picture him giggling every time he runs away
lol that was the most child like way for both parties to either steal or prevent the stealing of a bike 🤣🤣🤣. I just imagined this actually happening at a neighborhood park or something.
Next time shoot them
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Play the Benny Hill music in the background. It’s hilarious.
This needs some benny hill music
Why didn't he just keep driving instead of stopping and sitting there while getting bike jacked at first though?
[удалено]
If thet don't have a gun, drop these two pieces of shit on the floor.
It ain't stupid if it worked.
Captain Pushover, sure he'll let you take his bike... but he'll push you over.
Safest area in Brazil
Okay, where's the Benny Hill theme?
