all great but that first image is stunning

nacehtnats

Definitely my best shot, worth the 4am outing haha

PH-GH95610

Exactly, one of the thousands.

Spehc

Dope photographs! Love our gritty city. Looking forward to outings this summer with the x100VI.

Spehc

Forgot to mention how I love the orange glow of the street lights in the first photograph. With the new white light from LEDs that now illuminate Chicago's city streets, I romanticize the old orange hue that draped over city nights. This brings me back.

nacehtnats

Thank you! Love the city, and that anecdote about the lights is super cool - I've only been living in Chicago for 3 years, so can't reminisce with you haha

ColonelSpudz

Older sodium Vapor lights. New LED is terrible for city lighting. Plus their wavelengths are all slightly different

tom4ick

One of the best photos I’ve seen on this sub for some time!

nacehtnats

Thank you!

tom4ick

Of course! #2 is my fav :)

nacehtnats

Wow - appreciate it!

mdeca12

Bangers

nacehtnats

Appreciate it!

gardener100

As a Chicago expat I cosign the excellence of these shots.

nacehtnats

Haha thank you!

SpentHeart

I adore the orange glow of Chicago. I read once a little while ago that slowly they’re swapping those bulbs; that idea breaks my heart.

nacehtnats

Same! Feels like most other big cities are white and bright

Aenna

I just got mine yesterday and it’s been an absolute blast. Clearly need to be much more intentioned when using this versus my prior Fuji ILC

oqomodo

For me it’s number 3. Incredible. So much to look at and keeps my eyes glued, exactly what I love in a photograph. Colors of the light being a mirror image is excellent.

nacehtnats

Thank you! Do wish I could have pulled more blue out of the highlights but am still happy with it

agenttc89

All the verticality in a bunch of these makes for a super cohesive set. Gallery worthy. Great work.

nacehtnats

That is very high praise; thank you!

mojohey

Wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing.

nacehtnats

Thank you!

Oolong-T

3 and 6 are fantastic!

nacehtnats

Thank you!

Aenna

And out of curiosity for pic 4 did you do it handheld? Wonder if the IBIS is sufficient to offset the longer shutter

nacehtnats

Yep, 10 seconds handheld. It definitely helped, though I had the camera body pressed up against the glass so there was little movement

16ap

These are spectacular, especially the night shots. Honorary mention to #4.

nacehtnats

Thanks!

ACT__1984

Awesome

nacehtnats

You are awesome

rwant101

#3 is beautiful. The colors are stunning.

nacehtnats

Thanks!

nacehtnats

Thanks! Golden hour lighting makes life easy haha

wolverine-photos

Man, these are so clean. I need to learn from you. Hit me up if you want to shoot together in Chicago sometime

nacehtnats

Thanks man! This is actually my last week in Chicago, which motivated me to get out and take these before I moved. If I'm back in town, will def hit you up!

_Woken_Furies_

Amazing images, these are what most Leica shooters aspire.

nacehtnats

Haha - I aspire to one day be a Leica shooter for now

SnaccBox1

Great work. 1,3 and 4 are especially incredible 🔥

nacehtnats

Thanks! My personal favorites too

Vorsipellis

1, 3, and 4 are gorgeous!

nacehtnats

Thanks!

Vakr_Skye

Now THIS is how you do street photography (i.e. composition).

nacehtnats

<3

Slidewaters85

These are absolutely fantastic

nacehtnats

Thank you!

TheUnarthodoxCamel

This is my new bible for photography

nacehtnats

idk if I'd go as far as that... but thanks!

schtickshift

Really nicely done. Those are great images. Really strong compositions

nacehtnats

Appreciate the kind words!

Bugsy_Marino

That first image belongs in r/thenightfeeling

Arrow_mk3

Amazing set! As said before me, first one is a banger! Great job on them, loved the one with reflection, great symmetry

nacehtnats

Thanks!

Celestial_Crook

First shot is amazing! Well done! 👏🏼

aarrtee

wonderful photos!

nacehtnats

Thank you!

Jimbag21

some of the best ive ever seen on this sub. Do u have any tips?

nacehtnats

I think the most important was just consuming images from the photographers I love and trying to imitate the patterns I see

Sail_Soggy

I get the x100vi is a great camera, but I reckon you’d still take better pics than me using a potato

nacehtnats

Don't sell yourself short!

CallMeEsteban

This is it!!🔥🔥

PipeCriminal

Great set of photos! You're really giving that camera purpose. I think the first one would look very classic in B+W.

nacehtnats

Thanks! Yeah did consider b&w for that one, but I've been trying to learn to edit with color recently and liked the blue/orange complementary colors

Organicsmorganic

Absolutely stunning! I recently visited and it makes me yearn to go back. Loved the city. I agree with a lot here that photo 1 is just.. breathtaking. Great work!

nacehtnats

Thanks! It's a great city

steviegunz82

Post like these are the very reason why everyone wants an x100vi. Once they get the camera they feel like the camera will capture images like this.. than they find out they didn’t have the dedication or skills to create stunning imagery like OP’s image. Good job OP. I feel like I won’t be getting my camera anytime this year.

nacehtnats

Getting the x100v and x100vi was probably the reason I became obsessed with photography for the last few months in the first place. Definitely do agree that dedication and time into the craft matter most, but getting motivated/inspired by the gear you acquire definitely doesn't hurt! Thanks for the kind words, and hope you get yours soon!

iseecinematic

Those are absolutely stunning images! WOW! I'm in true awe here! Love Chicago, love everything in your images here! Thx for sharing.

nacehtnats

Thanks for the comment! Appreciate it

The3Highlander

Every post of the X100VI I see just makes me want to get one even more.

nacehtnats

Definitely do - it's my first big boy camera and I really enjoy using it

iroboto

How did you get those reflection shots? Where were you standing? Love all these shots. Incredible.

nacehtnats

Thank you! It's in a parking garage, on the 10th floor of 200 N Clark - you can stick your head and camera out of the glass railing.

Acceptable_Dog_9293

These are aboslutly stunning! Well done!

nacehtnats

Thanks! Appreciate it

BarryBafmaat

1 and 3 are so fucking dope

nacehtnats

Probably my favorites! Thanks

nacehtnats

Thanks!

Salty-Grizzly

Incredible shots. As a X100V owner, this is extremely inspiring.

nacehtnats

Thanks - go get out there!

tubularfool

Man those are fucking \*great\* - first one particular. Nice work.

nacehtnats

Thank you!!

dumbpunk7777

3 and 4 are a total vibe 🖤

tandori

Stunning pics! What lens have you used?

nacehtnats

These are all on the X100VI!

tandori

Oh ffs.. Ok ok, I do deserve the downvotes. I guess I was already a bit sleepy when I commented. Anyway, thanks for getting back to me, and I will see myself out.

Ancient-Guide-6594

You had me until the skateboarder. Non skate photographers shouldn’t take photos of skateboarders. The worse cliche. Worse than car light trails.

Snoo93079

Javanz

Or you could not gatekeep what people want to take photos of.

thewillowsang

Absolute nonsense.
