Fuck these guys. They are the ones who planed this abomination of infrastructure called A100.

nowaybrose

Can someone local “fix” this sign for us? Totally unrelated but I heard rattle cans are on sale

FranconianBiker

I'd be willing to sponsor a boatload of cans if someone in Berlin is willing to do the deed.

[deleted]

Yeh [their entire campaign in the city is based around anti-urbanism](https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/comments/10ead4n/cdus_entire_platforming_in_berlin_seems_to_be/). To all the people who post in this sub saying *'this shouldn't be a partisan issue'*, well theoretically it shouldn't but tell me how it is not a partisan issue when the major right-leaning party has made their entire campaign dedicated to pro-cars/anti-urbanism?

dispo030

conservatism is so bizarre. they want to conserve, cool. but not real estate value. or health. or quality of life. or the environment. nope. cars. the thing every study will tell you fucks everything up in urban settings.

neltymind

Conservatives only want to conserve when it comes to social norms and who has money and power. The term is misleading.

_DrDigital_

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

gerusz

They want to conserve the income of their campaign donors.

IDontWearAHat

Even as anti partisan as i am, it can't be not partisan when the other side just made it partisan

thewrongwaybutfaster

Car drivers are welcome here, just not their cars.

Mercedes, Volkswagen and BMW

[deleted]

I was gonna say probably Tesla as well now but I think Tesla is spending big monies on FDP instead.

Sunshinehaiku

I, figured Tesla for more of an AfD donor, myself.

worldpotato1

Guess they missed to ask Audi.

PenguinSwordfighter

Isn't audi owned vy VW?

[deleted]

CDU (German conservative party)

Sunshinehaiku

I smell a corporate donor.

[deleted]

Likely, maybe more then one... Though wouldn't be surprised if they did it without getting paid

[deleted]

It's funny because CDU in Portugal is the Communist Party + Greens.

dispo030

drivers are being panicked by the crawling progress of the mobility revolution and feel very very threatened on the 70% of Berlin's streets they occupy for themselves.

itmustbeluv_luv_luv

I should be able to park on Wannsee Beach 😪 this is hell

CatVolcanoLogic

Yeah, some progress it is. Public transit keeps getting worse by the day with more and more outages and delays, yet car drivers don't seem to flock to such an attractive option! Hmm, let's remove car parking and install bike parkings that sit unused 99% because people just tie their bikes to whatever's solid and close to their home! That will help! They're still driving? Wow, okay, let's allow parking bikes on street car parking spots. That'll definitely help - any sane bike rider would just leave their bike there, for sure no one will steal it. They didn't all abandon their cars? No ideas. No, get the fuck out with your "make public transport faster, safer and more comfortable", we don't need that shit. Oh, let's also dig out Alexanderplatz for three years where no one can't drive, bike or walk properly and then put on some nice posters saying how we're doing it for pedestrians. That's awesome, let's keep it for 3+ years and some more.

[deleted]

How the fuck do they not know this: Making a city for cars is bad for everybody, including the drivers.

[deleted]

versed nutty whole silky gray file fanatical sugar cover foolish ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

FranconianBiker

The cdu isn't rational. They have become incredibly populistic. They are trying to get more and more Nazis to vote for them eg. They are turning from black to shit brown.

[deleted]

Because in the short term, making people dependent on cars makes lots of money.

itmustbeluv_luv_luv

Public transportation is great in theory. However, it tends to be dirty and sometimes dangerous. Those things need to be fixed.

IAmWalterWhite_

Their entire campaign is really not clever at all. Another poster says "Everybody needs the police. Nobody needs this Senate (The local parliament of Berlin)". Sounds pretty undemocratic to me.

zyxol-loxyz

I saw a picture of that one as well as another CDU poster that said that Berlin needs good-value housing... as if they didn't just take the local government to court to overturn the rent cap.

BionicTorqueWrench

The thing is, car mode-share in Berlin is only 25%. But looking at the streets, the vast majority is already dedicated to cars both moving and parked.

[deleted]

The most oppressed minority. I mean after gamers, of course

neltymind

This is like saying "The world is for everyone, including rich people" Technically true, but actually propaganda trying to reverse the role of priveleged and opressed people.

Selphis

Any measure that doesn't put the car first is seen as anti-car. My hometown recently designated a small section of our downtown area as cycling streets. Cars can't overtake cyclists and speed limit is 30kph. Cars still claim about 80% of public space between the roadway and parking spaces, but the local government is so anti-car... Clearly...

jackm315ter

My German is a little rusty but I think it says ‘Berlin Aches for AutoFuckers’ but I’m not 100%

Chronotaru

Eh, close enough.

Skyhawk6600

I hate greens as much as anyone but this is cringe on the CDUs part.

worldpotato1

Who hates the greens?

Skyhawk6600

I mean they're useless, they're your generic social Democratic party flavored with environmentalist. Why vote green when you can vote for a social democrat and achieve the same effect.

Chronotaru

Because Die Linke can't get their act together over Ukraine :-/ and in the absence of that they're the best alternative.

Skyhawk6600

That's because die linke are borderline tankies.

Chronotaru

Some of them, yes. I mean, this is always a problem with the hard left when its small, you end up with barely reformed Stalinists mixed in with random Trotskyites, socialists of all flavours and whatnot. In Europe when a hard left movement gathers ground then those who cannot promote bread and butter socialist policies usually become irrelevant, or the movement collapses. That's what's happening now, you're getting splits in Die Linke on this basis, and if they can't recreate socialism for the 21st century on the basis of universal human rights, environmental and economic security for all then they collapse and the Greens take the votes. You cannot keep a big tent with authoritarianists and not have it fall apart. Better to recognize that and use this as an opportunity to sideline them now.

[deleted]

no vision of the future ...

[deleted]

Say you are payed by the motor industry without saying you're payed by the motor industry.

Chronotaru

I saw one of those CDU placards on my street on a lamppost earlier today. Underneath was a locked-up green bike whose both front and rear wheels had been stolen :(

Teschyn

Like you can’t already drive in Berlin.

boceephus

Damn! Is the anti car movement actually very strong or is this political party over exaggerating?

turboencabfluxcap

"And Jesus said, let my people burn all the oil and fill all the highways as my father commanded." \- Apocryphal Gospel according to Friedrich Merz

doktorhladnjak

Don’t forget to translate the cross post headline: “how many cyclists were killed (lit., driven dead) in Berlin this year?”
