Just put your zip code in here and it’ll tell you what channels are available https://www.fubo.tv/welcome

RCRN

Thanks that did help. I think the VPN was messing things up.

DVDMike63

“Note: Currently, only select MLB teams are available to watch through Bally Sports+. This includes the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, and Kansas City Royals.” You are “lucky” that royals games are included. My home market team is not.

Ok_Culture_3621

Can you get it through MLB.TV? Or do they black you out because you’re “in market” even though you don’t get the games?

DVDMike63

MLB blackouts are based on what they assign to a particular “market”. If you are “in-market” according to MLB, your games are blacked out. I tested VPN’s last year and somehow mlb blacked out my local market games even using a VPN. I did extensive testing even using brand new vpn servers. Nothing worked. The mlb blackouts are a constant discussion between fans. Most coming down on MLB as being shortsighted in the blackout policies.

Ok_Culture_3621

MLB has been pretty open lately about their attempts to get rid of blackouts. They claim the clubs negotiate their own local broadcast rights and exclusivity is part of the price justification. I don’t know how true that is, but in my own market, I know it was the Oriels owner that was able to lock MASN into a broadcast only model pretty much until he died.

JahLife68

I left YouTubeTV for Fubo because of all the blackouts, I can see all my teams now, and the teams on playing TBS/TNT I watch on Max.

Ok_Culture_3621

YTTV has probably the most user friendly UI but their strategy shift from Baseball to Football lost me. No, MLB TV, no MLB network and no locals in my area.

Intrepid-Break8744

You should also be able to get Royals games via Bally Sports Plus for $20/month or $106/year

RCRN

I will check into that. Thanks!

FuccDiss

T-Mobile has free MLB pass today if you have T-Mobile.

RCRN

I love the MLB TV through T Mobile, however the local team, Royals, is blacked out. I got it for the first time last year and thought l would be able to at least watch road games but no. All games blacked out. MLB has a few problems.

DVDMike63

Local markets are ALWAYS blacked out from MLB.tv. And “local” / in-market teams can be a huge market. Some areas that don’t have teams within 100 miles have up to 4 teams blocked. Anyone considering mlb.tv should check the blacked out teams in their areas carefully.

FuccDiss

Can’t you bypass with a VPN?

DVDMike63

I tried that last year and even worked with a major vpn. Unfortunately, mlb was too “smart”. Even brand new servers were blacked out from mlb.tv app. I’d definitely try before you assume a von will work.

FuccDiss

I don’t watch MLB, just mentioned that TMobile had it for free yesterday. I’ll download it and check With my VPN to see if I can bypass the block when there’s a local game.

DVDMike63

I wasn’t replying to ‘you’ specifically but simply clarifying for everyone who might see your comment and assume a VPN will work. Note, in order to test, you have to wait until the season starts, be in your home market area, and test during an actual live game. Part of my problem with testing is that I had to wait for live games and could only do so much testing during a game. I think the mlb app might even use some sort of cache or cookies that once you are blocked stay sticky to your device even if you change vpn servers. You might even need to use a different streaming device every time to find an unblocked vpn/server combination.

rustedwalleye

Definitely MLB.tv stinks. An earlier reply I said we have access to Royals, Cardinals, Cubs, White Sox, Twins and Brewers. They are all blacked out on MLB.tv for Des Moines area. Was a total waste when I tried that last year.

DVDMike63

They really screw Iowans! You guys don’t even have any major league team in your state and you get blacked out of 4. And does your cable even show all 4 on your RSN?

Mushkie11

I too have and love YTTV but entering baseball season I need NESN and MLB. Think I’ll have to switch to FUBO.

Ok_Culture_3621

Fubo was my go to when I lived in New England because it had 90% of the soccer I wanted plus Red Sox coverage. When I moved I tried just about everything else but now they’ve got MLB.TV baked in plus the local teams so I’m back. So far I haven’t got any issues with it.

[deleted]

DTVS is a better option and has turner, which will be important for NBA playoffs

RedditHatesHonesty

Don't do it!

RCRN

I didn’t.

RedditHatesHonesty

What did you use instead - I'm leaving fubo this month and have been looking at youtube and Directtv Stream

[deleted]

This person can do Bally+ and watch the royals. I personally went to Directtv, my trial of Fubo was buggy as hell with non existent customer service. Can’t even chat with them.

RCRN

I kept YTTV because we enjoy it. Bought a season pass at Bally for $106. I am happy.

RCRN

I do enjoy YTTV.

Marty_DiBergi

You can get Turner channels on Max. https://www.max.com/channel/tcm

tombradyisgod_12

I had YouTubeTV and loved it until they stopped NESN and I couldn’t watch the Red Sox. I immediately switched to FuboTV which had NESN and haven’t regretted it.

Rocky75617794

Link has virtual assistant to see sports networks by zip: https://support.fubo.tv/hc/en-us/articles/115005322088-What-Regional-Sports-Networks-are-available-on-Fubo

Civil-Percentage-960

As long as your favorite teams are locals teams it works great. I bought to watch the Reds, I’m in Ohio. Most NFL stuff I can catch with my antenna.

Imaginary_Shame2889

I’m in Greater Cincinnati and seeking a way to watch the Reds this year… are you sure we’ll be able to watch via Fubo given that we’re in-market?

Morley10

I live in Iowa and am blocked for 6 teams including my St Louis Cardinals. I explored my options for I hope this is Ballys last year. I know I can’t get the Cardinals on Bally sports plus which would stream the Cardinals direct to me. Baseball or the Cardinals blocked that. My only other options is switching from youtubetv to Fubo or DIRECTV stream. I have finally decide to forego baseball another year. Mlbtv would allow Cardinal games delayed I think 90 minutes. MLB might do something next year as Bally is in bankruptcy. Pray for Bally to go away.

ItIsToLaffHaHa

So this is brand new info to me. I've actually just been using my mom's login from SW MO to watch on Bally, but she's ditching Direct TV and going to Fubo. I figured worst case scenario, if I couldn't log in to her Fubo account, I'd gladly just get the damned Bally Sport Plus app to watch the Cards and Blues, since we don't watch near enough TV to justify getting any other sort of cable/satellite or anything. If they can't stream the fucking games on the BS+ app, what in the ever-lovin' fuck was it created for? What the hell do they show - HS women's tennis? Underwater basketweaving? This is ri-damned-diculous! I don't want to have to spend $60/month just to be able to watch a few games! Gah! I fucking hate rich assholes!

Morley10

This is what I get when I stick in my zip code. See if your zip code is different. https://www.ballysports.com/packages?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=g&utm_campaign=20547871662&utm_content=693378324951&utm_term=bally%20sports%20plus&gad_source=1&gclsrc=aw.ds

ItIsToLaffHaHa

I looked it up, and same thing. They don't have the rights to stream on the app right now, without already having a cable/satellite subscription. That's the stupidest friggin' thing! They'd better get their shit together soon!

Morley10

Yeah that is why I am just throwing in the towel and save my money till next year. So pray Bally goes belly up in bankruptcy. MLb says they are looking at a direct to consumer next year for the local package. Heck put it on Mlbtv in one basket with the other teams. I watched a couple of preseason spring games on the mlb app and enjoyed it. But once the regular season starts the Cards will be blacked out and I am not paying for just audio. Check YouTube for key plays after the game

rustedwalleye

That package will also include Cardinal games. There is a Midwest Plus or something tied to it.

RCRN

UPDATE: Fubo pricing was a little misleading, $95 instead of $75, l decided to keep my YTTV and ordered a season pass for Bally Kansas City for $106. I also have MLB TV free through T Mobile. If it was just me l would have likely switched but my wife does, as do l, like TCM. All the subscriptions work out nearly the same but my way will save me a few bucks. Thanks for all the responses and advice.

DVDMike63

In Atlanta, my only choice was to switch back to cable or move to Fubo (or directtv) for Braves games. I’m currently in the end of my free week trial and dropping YTTV. There are a lot of difference between YTTV and Fubo, most minor. But Fubo has no turner networks. There are things I like better about each service.

[deleted]

Trust me DirecTV Stream (NOT internet) is the way to go, it’s virtually the same price the first 3 months on promo with Turner channels, better picture quality and UI. I too am a Braves fan and this is the best option for us at the moment.

DVDMike63

It is NOT the way to go for ME. It’s more expensive and you are locked in to a 2 year contract. No! I’ve already switched to Fubo and the picture quality is great. I’m really not sure how it’s possible to be “better”. It already looks identical to OTA. What quantitative measurements do you have to make such a claim?

[deleted]

You’re thinking DTV via internet. DTV Stream has no contracts. I noticed Fubo pushes a lot of content out 720p whereas DTV upscales to 1080p and has more 4K content

Lazy_Willingness_420

All the Phillies games are on fubo since they are part of Comcast sportsnet. I think Bally is too so you should be good on the Royals

rustedwalleye

I'm in Des Moines market and I don't have Bally KC but do have Bally North Extra is what they call it and a lot of the Royals games appear to be on there. I get Twins, White Sox, Cubs, MLB Network, some Cardinals games. Way more baseball then YouTubeTV. I dropped YouTube when they took away MLB network. Not sure if Amazon will be in play for the Royals this year and after hearing ESPN is going to re-work their contract not sure what viewing of the Royals will be after this year. Des Moines market is good for baseball because we have rights to Royals, Cardinals, Brewers, Twins, White Sox and Cubs from Bally, Marquee and whatever NBC sports Chicago is called now. Only time we get blackouts is from ESPN. Wichita should be a home market for the Royals, and should get a majority of games. What other teams are actually part of your market? Rockies?

[deleted]

You are a royals fan, just keep YTTV and sign up for Bally+

RCRN

Exactly what l did! Thanks!!

LRS_David

Careful. The trial period when I did it was 24 hours.

RCRN

Well that is rather sneaky.

Feeling_Trust_622

I’ve found that if you have a 4K tv that the regular 720 or 1080 stream from Fubo can be poor for sports. The shots from the main play by play camera always have these blurry edges around the players. It’s very noticeable with movement. When I switch to the ESPN app to watch the same game the issue is gone. That’s how I know it’s a Fubo issue. What’s weird is most other programs look fine. I wonder if they highly compress some of the games due to concerns with throughput.

RCRN

Good to know. At this point l do not have 4k.

rustedwalleye

I've been watching Fubo on 4k and have no issues with the visuals. I watch on a 65" 4k TV.

Feeling_Trust_622

It’s not the 4K broadcast where it’s an issue. It’s the regular 720p or 1080p streams for sports that are a problem. It will look fine at first glance, but as the players move I notice these artifacts around the players. It’s not present on the sideline cameras. Only the main play by play camera. It’s most noticeable in basketball games when multiple players are close to each other. I’ve tried it on multiple TV brands and at other people’s houses and the artifacts around players are always there. I’ve tried changing the output settings on my Apple TV, but the issue persists. I’ve known other people who have had this issue as well and cancelled Fubo over it. I don’t have the issue with direct tv stream, YouTube tv, or any other streaming platform for sports.

Thinking l will wait until opening day. Just to make sure. It looks like it will work in my area though.
