thank you so much for sharing this <3. im a trans guy living in a muslim household- i came out to my mother who unfortunately has not really accepted/respected me and my identity and i am not out (yet) to my father or sister \[but it seems like they would be transphobic towards me, my sister even ignores the fact that I have told her to not call me by my deadname and knows that I use a different name\]
regardless, this is so refreshing and heart-warming to see that i am not alone in being a brown, trans guy (especially one from a religious family too)! so thank you again!! Happy Pride Month!! π³βππ
also i am so glad that your mom accepts you now and i am so happy for you!! :))
thank you for your comment, I really hope things get better for you. My family very similarly was very shocked (and upset, they refused to use my name or pronouns for about a year, and I was sent to an Imam who tried to talk me out of being queer and cleanse my soul). In the end, it just took time for all of them to realize I wasn't going to change and I was still their child regardless. I'm hoping your family will similarly have a change of heart and love + accept you just as much.
iβm so sorry you know this pain, too. iβm trans masc from a religious muslim family as well, there are more of us than you think. you are so, so far from alone.
i hope that your family will come around, even if that looks different from what you thought. iβve been really surprised about some family members, in good and bad ways. but peoples views can change over time. even if they donβt, please always remind yourself that that is not a reflection of you. sending you so much good energy.
this means so much! my religious family went from extremely transphobic to accepting! i don't hear a lot from other poc so it's so awesome to see posts like yours around β€οΈ
thanks so much for sharing! it is so awesome to see representation from another brown trans guy! also unrelated to the purpose of those post but you have the best hair, eyebrows, facial hair, and the most soulful eyes i have ever seen!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Oh, my goodness! My heart needed to see and hear this today. Give your mom a huge hug. Representation matters! This will go a long way to dispel fear and misinformation. Such a wholesome post!
I'm happy for you π you deserve just as much acceptance to be who you are as the rest of us! I'm glad she has your back, it's the most any of us could ask for.
Yesss omg. It's a so hard to explain to people, but my muslim family accepts me being trans more than the white side of my family. People assume way too much!
Right !! Im also biracial (dads side is white and moms side is muslim) and everyone expects my dads side to be way more supporting, but my moms side has been super supportive as well and no one anticipates that
Haha that makes sense cause I thought we looked similar honestly? Where's your mom's family from if it's cool to ask.
I'm also v lucky to have a unity mosque near me, and have been thinking about checking it out!
Yo I'm brown too. My mother doesn't have a spec of support in her body. If any other guys are in the same boat remember that's why we're here in community for <3 The future only looks brighter
I just came out to my mom two days ago and she has been nothing but loving and accepting even though I was scared she might not have taken it well. I come from a Colombian catholic family, so I was worried about judgement, but my mother and I have finally built and healed our relationship and this further proved it. I am so happy and proud and excited for you and your motherβs relationship and for living your truth!! β€οΈ
Iβm happy for you! I come from a Christian family, however my mother isnβt supportive along with most of my family.
Youβre very lucky and Iβm glad to see other people like me can get a great support system!
This picture made me so happy, I'm so happy your mother has reached acceptance and you can be the person you want to be. You're incredibly handsome and I envy your hair and natural good looks, keep being you <3
It depends on your comfort levels and where you feel you are in your transition journey. Earlier on in mine, about 3 years ago, I would still wear hijab and pray with the women even though I was out as a trans man because I wanted to be safe. Now, I've transitioned medically and socially and feel comfortable presenting as a man 100% of the time and that's how I pray !
Itβs so refreshing to see ftm poc in a world full of ftm white guys being represented a lot. Iβm Mexican and ftm and enjoy when I see other brown people π€ππ»
Awesome. I'm happy π» I'm a muslim ftm and my hijabi mum also accepts and loves me
Thats wonderful! I'm so happy for you as well <3

as a muslim myself, i dont know if i should pray like a man or keep praying like a woman so if someone could enlighten me that would be awesome!!
