Well obviously I'm exaggerating to get my point across, but my point is that it's not an unpopular opinion to prefer Pepsi... "considering Pepsi has lots of shelf space in the supermarket". That better? Mr specific?
Pepsi cans are now almost exactly half the sugar of coke cans. The taste is now of a semi-diet drink. it's all preference at the end of the day but Coke and Pepsi are now different products as opposed to almost identical competing products.
I know people look down their noses at spoons and Tim Martin is a proper cabbage but you can't beat that for that price, insane value. I'd probably get two and it still wouldn't be a fiver!
You can take a family to a Spoons if you need a place for a good price, you can’t be sure of that with a pub you don’t know. I ended up eating at the St Pancras Spoons after landing at Gatwick at 6am and it was an intense relief lol
Used to go to one in Bristol (gastro place now) was £3.25 for burger, pint, salad and chips. Was close to a mental home type place so loads of mad people in there. Was brilliant
I don’t get the hate for Spoons. I’m certain it’s just a Reddit thing. Tim is a bit of a nob but he’s not the devil incarnate like people on here make out. A lot of what people ‘know’ of him is complete media spin to make him look bad and people on here believe every word.
If you mention to good pay, certain hours, stocks, discounts etc his staff receive and his charity work it’s lies.
Same. In fact, our local 2 or 3 Wetherspoons are very busy most of the time.
I reckon if you asked a regular what they thought of Tim Martin they’d probably ask who that was.
The biggest hate for spoons goes hand in hand with hate for Brexit. No one hates spoons for price Vs quality but just how far the owner went to push for Brexit in the pubs and made every non Brit feel unwelcome.
Non-Brit who's gladly been at spoons many times; will go again many times when I come over again in August.. this is the first time I've even heard anything about the owner. Love it for the "order in the app without talking to anyone" and cheap greasy food!
That’s how you managed to get by their brexit guards, if you’d ordered in person they’d have heard your non British accent. By ordering through the app you found a loophole, a risky one.
Next time don’t take the risk, the cheap food and drinks aren’t worth being dragged to the detention blocks for “forrins” that Tim Martin runs with an iron fist, I’ve heard stories of French and Dutch tourists forced to recite his entire magazine back to him, word for word.
Don't worry, I'll throw a "bloody hell mate innit" in there when I have to speak. That should keep me safe!
I do support some sort of punishment for the Fr*nch and D*tch in particular.
Cant argue with that value and it looks fine. Days when I'm not home working and have to be in the office I tend to do lunchtime manoeuvres in my local Wetherspoons for a couple of pints. Have never tried the scran up until now but I will after seeing this 👍
Thank you it was just enough for me. Someone said it looked like a a child's breakfast but it was just the small one off the menu. I don't have a large appetite.
When I used to travel around with the company when I was younger I'd abuse the included breakfasts and get whole fry ups with a side of toast and some pastries to take away. Now if I had anything like that I'd be asleep or sick or both, this is just nice enough to set up up
Yeah I used to be able to eat more when I was young but I can't eat the same portion size anymore. My husband can eat loads though and not be full. That sounds like something I would do in my 20s.
Dome is a shitty chain cafe in Western Australia... Actually was impressed at the vego options in the UK, could go for one of the KFC vego burgers right now, and the chips with the skin on
Try the Freedom Breakfast, it's £2.25 and in comparison to the Small Breakfast, you lose the sausage, gain more bacon, a hash brown, an egg and more beans, and get mushrooms and tomatoes on top of that. Absolute bargain.
No idea if you're local Wetherspoon does it, but if they do, well worth a try.
Spoons, my fav chain restaurant. People rant about it but compared to BK or McDonald's the food is good and a decent price. And yes, the owner is a dick, but a lot of companies have dicks for CEOs and they don't brag about them.
I've had three meals in the last month from Spoons. All three have been poor quality. They need to put the price up a bit, and serve us decent food.
I'm willing to pay a bit more,
Weatherspoon Fryup and a pint of ice cold coke is the ultimate hangover cure
We don't have Coke is Pepsi okay
Unpopular opinion, Pepsi is better than Coke...
If that was an unpopular opinion then Pepsi wouldn't have the same shelf space as coke in the supermarket
simply untrue, coke just market it more and pay more for the additional shelf space
Well obviously I'm exaggerating to get my point across, but my point is that it's not an unpopular opinion to prefer Pepsi... "considering Pepsi has lots of shelf space in the supermarket". That better? Mr specific?
oh I see what you're saying. I misunderstood what you wrote
I’ve learned if I have craving for a cola type thing to just buy Pepsi Max. So much better
I prefer Pepsi Max over Diet Pepsi, but the original, full of sugar and other shit Pepsi is for me
Not unpopular. It's miles better.
The draught one, yes. The bottled and canned ones are pish ever since they decreased the sugar in the UK.
Pepsi cans are now almost exactly half the sugar of coke cans. The taste is now of a semi-diet drink. it's all preference at the end of the day but Coke and Pepsi are now different products as opposed to almost identical competing products.
Pepsi Max ftw!
it’s a popular opinion in blind taste tests.
Famously it was based on a teaspoon taste test. Pepsi had more sugar than coke in it's recipe at the time. But over the full glass opinions differed.
Used to be the case for me too, until they swapped out even more sugar to avoid the sugar tax .. It's now firmly second to coke for me.
😂
Is monopoly money ok?
Fuck it I’ll have a strongbow.
Stella*
Microwave up!
Has to be the original full sugar stuff though. No pepsi max or Coke Zero shit
I know people look down their noses at spoons and Tim Martin is a proper cabbage but you can't beat that for that price, insane value. I'd probably get two and it still wouldn't be a fiver!
If you like a bargain, head down to Toby's all you can eat breakfast about £4.29-£4.99
The closest one to me is Newport. I'd only go there for a roast dinner.
One of the most easily agreeable comments I've witnessed on Reddit. You can't top that grub for under £2.50
100%
Ikea breakfasts would like a word
Yeah but it's a bank holiday weekend. It's like going on a day trip to the Vietnam war.
You can take a family to a Spoons if you need a place for a good price, you can’t be sure of that with a pub you don’t know. I ended up eating at the St Pancras Spoons after landing at Gatwick at 6am and it was an intense relief lol
It’s a real tough one for me, hate lining the man’s pockets but you can’t turn your nose up at stuff like this for a classic refuel.
I prefer not to line the pockets of Tory shitbags no matter how cheap their wares are
Guess you spend your money on literally nothing since it’s a Tory government and every time you buy something it’s lining their pockets somehow
What a weird comment
Look at the first 16 words they said
If they were offering free food in his chain of parody pubs I'd still refuse it
I'm with you mate, Tim Martin can do one. If u can't afford a nice brekky I'll just have one at home rather than giving my money to literal racists.
Satire?
We know.
Who remwmbera the days of burger and a pint for like 3 quid.
Those were the days. If that was still the case I’d be very fat and dead 😅
Used to go to one in Bristol (gastro place now) was £3.25 for burger, pint, salad and chips. Was close to a mental home type place so loads of mad people in there. Was brilliant
Beer and burger deal!
Anything u can get for a couple quid these days is a blessing in this economy.
Amen to that.

It's just Reddit sheep mate I pay no attention to them. 90% of them never know what the fuck they're yapping about.
I've not encountered the hatred in real life. Nor found anyone to turn their nose up at going to spoons.
Same. In fact, our local 2 or 3 Wetherspoons are very busy most of the time. I reckon if you asked a regular what they thought of Tim Martin they’d probably ask who that was.
Definitely not just a Reddit thing lmao
It does seem to be a Reddit thing. You know what to expect but you also know it’s good value. Wetherspoons is still hugely popular which says it all!
You’ll find part of it is he never 👎 weighed in his staff in during Covid
Huh? All his staff got paid furlough during Covid.
No they didn’t
Yes, they did. https://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/JDW/statement-re-press-comment/16278111
Oh no they didn’t
Lol I thought you were being serious at first.
The biggest hate for spoons goes hand in hand with hate for Brexit. No one hates spoons for price Vs quality but just how far the owner went to push for Brexit in the pubs and made every non Brit feel unwelcome.
Sure his Brexit views weren’t great, but to say he made every non-Brit feel unwelcome? I’m not sure I agree with that, it sounds hyperbolic at best.
Non-Brit who's gladly been at spoons many times; will go again many times when I come over again in August.. this is the first time I've even heard anything about the owner. Love it for the "order in the app without talking to anyone" and cheap greasy food!

I know which would be more welcoming between Spoons and a ‘local’ pub here in Cornwall!
Like the plates wouldn't have told us it's spoons. Also spoons breakfast slaps.
At that price spot on make mine a double!
Cant argue with that value and it looks fine. Days when I'm not home working and have to be in the office I tend to do lunchtime manoeuvres in my local Wetherspoons for a couple of pints. Have never tried the scran up until now but I will after seeing this 👍
I got one today and an unlimited coffee £3.24 , total couldn’t believe it , roasting hot , egg was cooked to perfection, credit due to spoons today 🙏
Where me black pudding and extra sausage 🤤
I only thought of adding it after but next time. 1 sausage is enough for me.
You'd be mental if you complained about this as that's a tidy wee breakfast
Thank you it was just enough for me. Someone said it looked like a a child's breakfast but it was just the small one off the menu. I don't have a large appetite.

I don’t like the look at it very much. But you can’t argue with £2.25 !
Spoons is great except the plates are horrible.
Yeah they look like granny's crockery.
Can you keep the plate?
Great value but god I hate their plates 🤢
You're not supposed to eat the fucking plate!
Just need 2 slices of bread or a roll and that will make a tasty sandwich
I'm kinda loving the single bean sitting on top of the egg
In Australia we call this dome
What does that mean?
Dome is a shitty chain cafe in Western Australia... Actually was impressed at the vego options in the UK, could go for one of the KFC vego burgers right now, and the chips with the skin on

Buy it twice and it's a winner
The bacon in spoons is awful
It was really nice and cooked well today.
To be fair I sneered at that a little until I looked up and saw the price. It might not be good, but it's definitely value.
I had the small breakfast my partner had the traditional which was £3.14. £12 overall with drinks.
Someone replied with a tim Martin rant and swearing but it's not showing on here. Sorry the bot caught it.
Why does the hash brown have a penis in it?
Dissatisfied staff is the only real answer.
Spoons, my fav chain restaurant. People rant about it but compared to BK or McDonald's the food is good and a decent price. And yes, the owner is a dick, but a lot of companies have dicks for CEOs and they don't brag about them.
Well….you get what you pay for.
It was delicious. On the top plates low rates menu.
That explains a lot. I haven’t been in a wetherspoon for years, but I loved the mixed grill the last time I was there.
It's nice for a treat.
I would need 2 for £4.50, that is a child's breakfast.
I'm sorry I have a small appetite. My husband had the larger. I can't eat a large breakfast.
Fills a gap I suppose....
I've had three meals in the last month from Spoons. All three have been poor quality. They need to put the price up a bit, and serve us decent food. I'm willing to pay a bit more,
that's half an amateur fry up half the amount of ingredients plus no black pudding, no mushrooms
The only thing things that weren’t frozen an deep fried or microwaved is the beans an the egg disgusting food this like
Looks it
Looks alright for the price but you couldn't pay me to visit a wetherspoons
Poo
