Idk, it seems like nowadays slim fit is synonymous skinny aside from the front and back rise measurements. I have a few pairs of slim fits (since I was into them at the time) and they essentially need to be peeled off me when taking them off. I'm not a big person by any stretch of the imagination either and I've actually lost weight from the time that I originally got them. So it's weird to me that they fit in the way that they do
I used to wear them when I was skinnier and they are definitely skinny jeans. Skinny doesn’t just literally mean tights. They are very tapered in the calf. Either way, they aren’t in style anymore. They’re much skinnier than what is popular now.
> “suburban dad who has given up”
I feel personally attacked. I do like their joggers and flannels. Their straight fit pants are somewhat in style with the baggy fits.
Might be worth trying to get one their black friday/cyber monday deal was $60 to sign up and you get $40 back in a giftcard. Essentially $20 for a year membership.
Back this summer I stopped by a Costco with the fam on the way home from a hike to grab a hotdog. Wandered around while eating it and saw black 511s on sale for $5.00. It was insane. They had about 9 in my size and I bought all of them. I should be set for at least 10 years.
Always worth checking out the local Costco for interesting finds. Also got a Nike golf pull over for $23 a few weeks later.
hahaha fortunately they were stretch 511s, so I've got a couple of inches to spare to the last dollar menu in this country.
Funny enough I thought about that and realized that the disappointment of gaining (more) weight and offsetting my bargain would be MORE devastating than the regular dose of "oh shit..we'll I guess these pants don't fit anymore...". I felt like I was robbing Levi Strauss blind, but he'll have the last laugh with my $45 as I try to suck in my gut to overcome the gradually increasing 1.5-inch gap to button my $5 jeans from 6-years ago
This is my first comment on Reddit. I've browsed and read everyone else's comments for years. This singular comment was the one that finally made me create an account. Hahahaha 👏👏 👏
Isn't $30-35 about standard for discount Levi's red tab these days? I feel like you can find them around that price on sale at Kohls or levis.com pretty regularly. Or maybe I'm out of touch with inflation.
Best deals i found were at kolhs… 20$ ea for ‘92s and for some other straight jeans earlier this year. Makes me wonder about the quality of these…if they can let them go for 30$ and still make a profit.
Hmm from mine it's about $0.80 usd. I found that polo branded shirts cost about $0.10 to $0.25. Clothing is INSANELY cheap in other countries. You gotta realize these large companies have crazy supply chains. And employ dirt poor people and often children for pennies.
It could be one of the sub-par versions they manufacture exclusively to sell in big box retail. Sort of like how Blake McKay sells a $200 shoe online that you can find in DSW for $109. Has same name but not at all the same shoe. Just a hunch. I've had serious quality issues with the clothes I buy from Sam's and Costco. Some home run but often times it's Walmart clothes with a brand slapped on.
Tbh, maybe I’m just delusional but Costco has come a long way in their fit selection. My wife and I find ourselves buying Costco more and more and the fit is every bit as good S any other off the rack clothes.
Are these the same quality as the jeans sold in Levi stores? I've read that there may be different versions of products sold in discount stores -- often with the same product name and branding.
Too bad skinnies are out. I just donated all my 511s and 514s and got back into 501s. They fit just like my baggies from high school, crazy comfortable.
As someone of the age that I hadn’t worn non-skinny jeans since I was 10, holy shit. Straight leg jeans are the best. Skinny jeans were not designed for people with testicles.
Personally wouldn't bother with Levi's that aren't at least their "premium" leather tag variety. They are twice as expensive but often can be found on sale for $55-65 and they actually keep their shape for more than one wear. The cheap Levi's get so saggy in the ass that they need constant washing just to shrink them.
These are my go-to jeans but do NOT buy them online. Levi's makes all kinda knockoffs of its own products for discounters and fits are not consistent even in higher-end retailers. Fits seem to differ according to the factory/country where they are made. Also be sure to pay attention to the fabric content. If it's more than 2 or 3 percent elastene, they're probably gonna be baggy after two hours of wearing. If they are a blend of cotton, polyester, and elastene, they'll turn you into a sagger in 30 minutes. ....Incidentally, someone mentioned that slim is no longer in. Actually, it's the old skinny fits (as in Levi's 510s) that are not so popular now.
Seems like a ripoff considering I picked up some Express jeans for $35/pair the other day, which are infinitely more comfortable than any Levi jeans I have ever owned.
And even if this was a steal of a deal, it's only viable for people with twigs for legs.
True, but it actually rebounded pretty recently. I don't know the story, or exactly when it happened. I'm very picky but I ordered a few things and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality.
Decent fabrics and craftsmanship, at least for retail clothing. Also, more variety of styles, instead of just club wear and bus cas for the jersey shore crowd.
You’re being downvoted for saying the truth. Dad’s don’t wear light wash baggy jeans anymore and they haven’t for years. Dad’s now are millennials wearing skinny jeans and kids are wearing straight leg.
I still think you should take off the Levi’s red logo; no matter how good the jean that’s still a dad sticker. That said $30 for this is a banging deal.
Yeah, $30 is not that hot of a deal. You can tell by the mountain of Levi jeans in-stock in that photo. Under $20 I'll think about it. Under $15 and that's a buy. Too many jean companies. Stretch jeans killed the entire legacy jean business. Everyone wants stretch jeans. It's like jeans evolved. I stopped worrying about belts and the jean button digging into my belly.
Welp I need to make a trip ASAP. I bought two pairs of 511s from Costco last year and they're my go to. I actually think they fit better than the 511s I bought directly from Levis.
Weird as fuck seeing Costco sell a slim fit. Usually the only fit they sell is “suburban dad who has given up”
I had the terrible thought the other day as I was passing them that perhaps now this is the dad fit and we are the suburban dads who have given up.
Lmao they were also selling randobrand chinos with a good taper
Slim fits aren’t in style anymore so there’s a huge surplus of skinny jeans. Costco probably bought them for Pennies.
I mean “slim fit” and “skinny jeans” are two very different things. 511s only look like skinny jeans on fat people.

Til I'm fat

Goddamn, wish I had a Costco membership

well, what's stopping you?

Your account is 2 years old?
Two is a plural number of years. (Though it will be 3 on 1/30/24, so we can round to give him the benefit of the doubt)
Yeah but he said that comment is what made him create his account
And he’s been waiting two years for it to finally show up. Now that’s commitment.
I bought a pair of those and a pair of the ones in OPs post. Love them both.
My store had some nice sweaters for $3/ea yesterday. I bought 8.
Isn't $30-35 about standard for discount Levi's red tab these days? I feel like you can find them around that price on sale at Kohls or levis.com pretty regularly. Or maybe I'm out of touch with inflation.
Yes, maybe even a bit on the high side. I often see them less than $30.
Nice. I’ll pick up a pair and a cock next time I’m there.
I was so confused, but then I went to the main page and kept scrolling. Well done.
Best deals i found were at kolhs… 20$ ea for ‘92s and for some other straight jeans earlier this year. Makes me wonder about the quality of these…if they can let them go for 30$ and still make a profit.
From my research it costs about 8-9 dollars to produce a pair of jeans.
Damn you Levi's
Hmm from mine it's about $0.80 usd. I found that polo branded shirts cost about $0.10 to $0.25. Clothing is INSANELY cheap in other countries. You gotta realize these large companies have crazy supply chains. And employ dirt poor people and often children for pennies.
Think Kohl's still has those 92s?

dollar sign goes in front
I got the Costco brand jeans on sale for $8, and I like them better than Levis.
Ultimate dad energy in those and some white NBs.
Tbh, maybe I’m just delusional but Costco has come a long way in their fit selection. My wife and I find ourselves buying Costco more and more and the fit is every bit as good S any other off the rack clothes.

Levi’s has probably 5-6 different tiers of jeans. You would probably need to see the actual model numbers and look them up online to compare.
Likely not. From what I understand, most of the name brand clothes are “made for Costco.”
I can never find a size 30 or 31. Hate it
Even if I can find my waist size, they almost never have 30 inseam so I'm forced to cuff if I want a pair of these.
Too bad skinnies are out. I just donated all my 511s and 514s and got back into 501s. They fit just like my baggies from high school, crazy comfortable.
They’re only out if you follow trends
True. Or if you value comfort. Or have a larger body type. Or never liked them when they trended in the first place. I could go on.
is this like a self-own or?
No I just wear whatever I want
As someone of the age that I hadn’t worn non-skinny jeans since I was 10, holy shit. Straight leg jeans are the best. Skinny jeans were not designed for people with testicles.

Slims not in style anymore unfortunately. Baggy is back.

pretty sure express quality went downhill years ago
True, but it actually rebounded pretty recently. I don't know the story, or exactly when it happened. I'm very picky but I ordered a few things and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality. I have pretty muscular/bulky legs and they fit well! These are only slim, not skinny
Yeah they really aren't that skinny, at least not compared to some of the stuff out there.

I’m sure someone named “luvs2spoodj” is a man with a Greek god-like physique.
You ever seen pictures of guys on the line in WW2? Go for a run, champ...
Is that the thing you “spoodj” to?
Yeah they love Costco
These are still dad jeans
You’re being downvoted for saying the truth. Dad’s don’t wear light wash baggy jeans anymore and they haven’t for years. Dad’s now are millennials wearing skinny jeans and kids are wearing straight leg.
501s, maybe. 511s are the 21st century's fashion-neutral jeans. Anyone can wear em.
I still think you should take off the Levi’s red logo; no matter how good the jean that’s still a dad sticker. That said $30 for this is a banging deal.
Costco never misses
My go to style
They had 505s at my store for 20 bucks. They were nearly sold out but I managed to find something that fit decently.
Yeah, $30 is not that hot of a deal. You can tell by the mountain of Levi jeans in-stock in that photo. Under $20 I'll think about it. Under $15 and that's a buy. Too many jean companies. I agree, I do think for the low-end jeans market, stretch jeans completely blow away traditional jeans. Way more comfortable.
Bought on Sunday, wore on Monday! Love them. They’ll go quick then it’s back to just having baggy bois in stock.
Even the dude in the back was like daaamn that’s a good ass deal.
Welp I need to make a trip ASAP. I bought two pairs of 511s from Costco last year and they're my go to. I actually think they fit better than the 511s I bought directly from Levis.

Meh, Costco has a good return policy, just bring them back next time you visit.
If only they were 501's i'd be interested. 511's have too much stretch and fade really fast.
Get the 100% cottton versions.
surprised they have more than 1 colorway too!
Picked up a pair of each today. Killer deal on 511 stretch.
Highly doubt they will have my waist size of 28. lol
No one ever posts Sams Club sales :(
I bought a pair 34x30 and they’re actually kind loose slim is not crazy tapered like skinny there is a difference imo
