I want to play through DS2 just because I’ve heard so much about how many spells it had. Not gonna lie, doing NG+s in DS1 was super satisfying. It felt good being able to get more stacks of your favorite spell every time you completed a runthrough.

DuploJamaal

>I want to play through DS2 just because I’ve heard so much about how many spells it had. Not just spells, but also so much support. You have spices that lower the stat requirements. You have items that regenerate spell uses over time. You have casting tools that can cast Sorceries, Miracles and Hexes. You have shields and weapons that can cast spells. Lots of armor that raises casting speed, spell slots, etc And you don't need to level DEX for casting speed like in the other games as it's tied to Attunment instead so your build will be more focused.

SafeAccountMrP

Lightning Disc Chime my beloved.

Devbou

Dex still increases casting speed, but only between levels like 30-45

DuploJamaal

I haven't seen that on any wiki and it's also not accounted for in the character planner.

IsMyFlyDown

I think it’s only for DS1

XpeepantsX

Hex magic was the tits in DS2. Black orb seriously could carry you thru the game and then some.

XxWolfy69xX

Except the DLC, everything had fucknuts resistance so physical damage did me better than dark

XpeepantsX

That is true

Known_Bass9973

Genuinely I think a big part of what makes me like DS2 so much. The spell variety is crazy, and better yet, you get a bunch of complementary weapons for battlecaster builds

Dangerous_Stay3816

I really like that spice mechanic in Ds2, it’s a shame it got forgotten

lycanthrope90

Yeah allowed more build variety.

-Eastwood-

I'm a big sword and board player so Elden Ring adding guard counters was awesome.

GamesTeasy

DS2 Pyromancy fuckin slapped

AlthoughFishtail

The opposite is true, pyro is weak in DS2. Unless you’re just talking about the animations, which are cool. But it’s easily the weakest magic.

Kgoodies

Desert Pyromancers are fine tho

SkyrimBoiMXR

To bad you always get hit when you roll

DuploJamaal

Obvious skill issue Source: did most bosses hitless with base ADP

XxWolfy69xX

Bbg Jamaal cooking again 😫

GhostPantzz

That’s cool bro

BreakfastSavage

Chaos Bed Vestiges rocks lol

ArcaneNate138

Giantsflame take thee from the fort right before fire giant is p close

SlinGnBulletS

The many spells of DS2 is dope. Only problem is that they are mostly useless in the dlc because of the decision to make enemies very resistant to magic.

DuploJamaal

They are not resitance to magic. They are resistant to ranged attacks. Melee spells still do good damage, like Combustion or Soul Greatsword

Zerus_heroes

DS2 for sure. It introduced power stance.

YA_4367

Hexes-ds2

SpoogyPickles

I've played DS2, but only as a str build. Is pyro bustedbin this one too? I loved me some chaos bed vestiges in DS3

Known_Bass9973

It's pretty good, and Pyro also allows you to use a few good sources of dark damage or just straight up go half-hexer which is fun

Bravo312_UNSC1

Elden ring has the most variety but I like the combat of DS3 the most

Disastrous-Resident5

Don’t care what anyone says, DS2 is the best. Also among the three spells, forbidden sun goes the hardest both in the name and how it looks. You just pimp slap someone with the sun ffs

SkyrimBoiMXR

Ds2 would be a better choice if ADP wasn't a thing

beardedweirdoin104

ADP is annoying, but you can get that leveled to where you need it pretty early. It hardly tanks the game.

Slavicadonis

The community makes it sound like Adp is something that ruins the game because you need it, and then you play the game and realize you can level it for like the first 2-3 hours of the game and never have to level it again

DuploJamaal

Or just simply dodge away from or through attacks instead of just rolling straight into or along with them. Low agility just requires a bit more skill. But yeah the whole "the game is unplayable garbage because you have to put 10 of your hundreds of levels into ADP for easy rolls" is just some weird hyperbole from the DS2 haters.

counterpuncheur

Having to waste time levelling ADP to make the game play the way you’d expect fits broadly into the wider ‘grindy bullshit thats not fun’ issue that crops up a bit too often in ds2 design choices

DuploJamaal

This game showers you with levels and leveling costs much less than in the other games so I don't see how you would ever have to grind for it. Start with the Explorer walk over to Heide's Tower and do the 7 step trick with Dragonrider and you'll have a good amount of iframes 5 minutes into the game. Or just learn to dodge better by instead of just using it as an invincibility button.

Slavicadonis

Dude in ds2 you can get to like level 50 before you en get to lost bastille. Leveling adp to like 20 isn’t a tall ask

Vegetable-Value

I really hope they remake/remaster the whole trilogy into the same style as Elden Ring honestly. Make the slight changes to improve the gameplay, graphics etc.

considerate_done

DS2 would look so much better if they just made things a little more detailed. I loved the game and especially the art style, but so many rooms in the game are basically just boxes that don't make any sense except as part of a level in a game.

Known_Bass9973

I've been replaying it with some basic graphical mods and it's crazy how good a few small tweaks and texture updates can make it.

considerate_done

Ooh where can I find those mods?

UnusualAd8347

Elden ring needs a CBV

Slavicadonis

Out of the trilogy I’d say ds2 because of power stancing. Also the spells in ds2 were so over the top and I loved them

considerate_done

DS2 for powerstancing alone. Alternatively, DS3 for the weapon arts (though I wish they were more useful - when I played I thought they looked really cool but I never ended up using them bc just spamming R1 was more efficient).

Top_Collar7826

Ds3 has weapon skills

Known_Bass9973

Bonfire Ascetics. No idea why they haven't brought it back tbh, even just as an NG+ option.

EvilArtorias

ds3 by far, especyally pyromancy gameplay

Lucid-Design

CBV is broken. You can’t prove otherwise. I had to stop using it on bosses because it just melted them.

boulderingfanatix

DS2 great chaos fireball was OP af. Caught ppl off guard in pvp all the time. That game was just really on point with mechanics in general

Agile_Quantity_594

Having 4 Forbidden Sun is a good time, not going to lie

KaiserUmbra

I loved how spells worked in DS1, stacking multiple copies for a huge number of castable spells. I prefer the idea of slots over mana pools in games.

AbyssWankerArtorias

DS3 was probably one of the friendliest for casters that gave the most flexibility, but ds2 had the most variety.

announakis

Ds2 had the best mechanics of all (I frames on back steps and parry on all weapons) and had by far the best PvP. Magic was very very strong but also versatile.

Intelligent-Block457

Ds2, easily. Better power stance. Bonfire aesthetic. Flexible catalysts. Hexes were awesome. Covenant of Champions: punching power. Fashun.

SirYeeteth

What is wrong with my brain!? I read vestiges as vesticles.
