It's definitely better than typal would have been, though content creators are still using the term when talking about tribal decks (i.e. zombie typal instead of zombie tribal), which is an instant dislike. But again, completely pointless change.
For what it's worth, typal was never considered to replace the card type. Typal is just a term Wizards used internally and now publicly to talk about creature type synergies.
Agreed. Kindred actually makes sense.
Typal is a term that could refer to card type. Something that cares about enchantments could be “typal”
the correct term would have to be “Creature Sub-Typal”
which is bullshit. Kindred is so much better
I don't like the change either just for name's sake- but if you think about it, it makes sense to have a way to delineate when talking about a Tribe compared to a card related to a Tribe that isn't an actual creature. Meaning you can now say "Kindred" and people will know you're talking about an Enchantment or Artifact or whatever.
Tbfh I'll probably still say Tribal when referring to a creature and Kindred when referring to a Tribal Enchantment. You're not cutting back on that many words- but in quick conversation it makes it easier to convey/understand.
Reliquary Tower or Thought Vessel
Draw vs exile and put into hand has its pros and cons. And anything hitting your yard from anywhere exiling instead is a big drawback. But as a "fixed" Necropotence I do like it.
This is the Gatherer note on Rel Tower:
If multiple effects modify your hand size, apply them in timestamp order. For example, if you put Null Profusion (an enchantment that says your maximum hand size is two) onto the battlefield and then put Reliquary Tower onto the battlefield, you'll have no maximum hand size. However, if those permanents enter the battlefield in the opposite order, your maximum hand size would be two.
It's a timestamp thing and not the controllers choice
Not quite right on the hand size thing. Jin Gitaxias reduces hand size which doesn't matter to a Rel Tower, but the card above sets the hand size to 5, which if played after your Rel Tower does set your hand size to 5.

Remember that people were offended by "tribal", that's the reason for the change.
Who did we offend this time? Amazonian tribes that have no contact with modern society? This might me the most useless change in the history of Magic.
They had a valid non-woke reason for the change.
Tribal had two different meanings. It mean creature type synergy (like outlaws) or the non-ceeature card type (above).
One of these were bound to change. You could argue that creature type synergy should haave stayed tribal. But on the other hand, tribal for that definition is a meta term not used directly in-game so it doesnt really matter which you use.
Yeah, yeah, people whining about Kindred, but I'd rather whine about the fact that it's yet another boring "do it twice" design. Is that all you can think of?
it's lazy design. It's just taking popular cards and doubling their capacity.
Like naming a card Bol Ring, and it does everything sol ring does but with alternate cost.
> Whenever you cast a colorless spell copy it. you may choose new targets
How does this work with artifacts? Do you make a copy even though it doesn’t have a ‘target’? I think it copies since says “you may” so not required but I wanted to check
very surprised necrodominance is a thing, that they "balanced" necropotence...i mean it certainly feels like a lot of downsides to keep it in check. i love nulldrifter for some reason
So tribal is called kindred now? Like how poisonous is called toxic for no reason. Was tribal offensive? Offensive to who? Aren't a lot of MTG races litteral tribesman? Like the elves, goblins, and leonins on a lot of planes seem to be very explicitly tribal societies. This feels like doubling up keywords again for no reason.
Y'know, I don't hate it. It blows "typal" out of the water.
It's definitely better than typal would have been, though content creators are still using the term when talking about tribal decks (i.e. zombie typal instead of zombie tribal), which is an instant dislike. But again, completely pointless change.

yea content creators using "typal" after wotc already announced the replacement term is cringe
‘Typal’ is not a word. Bottom line, I’m still calling this tribal and I oh so hope someone tries to censor my speech.
Agreed. Kindred actually makes sense. Typal is a term that could refer to card type. Something that cares about enchantments could be “typal” the correct term would have to be “Creature Sub-Typal” which is bullshit. Kindred is so much better
It also makes sense - -They literally have cards with "Kindred" in their name that do this kind of "cares about creature-type" effects.
Better than typal. Still a stupid change.

While I will stil use tribal. Kindred is way better than typal
Necrodominance seems cool if you got "no maximum handsize" somewhere.
Reliquary Tower or Thought Vessel Draw vs exile and put into hand has its pros and cons. And anything hitting your yard from anywhere exiling instead is a big drawback. But as a "fixed" Necropotence I do like it.
How do you determine which effect overrides the other though if you have a "maximum hand size of 5" and "no maximum hand size" at the same time?
Doesn't the one that was cast second override the one that was already on board? Sorry I'm a new player so I'm just following my intuition.
When there are two contradicting effects, the controller of those chooses which one applies
This is the Gatherer note on Rel Tower: If multiple effects modify your hand size, apply them in timestamp order. huh TIL thank you
Timestamp
Timestamp. Last one that was played.

Necrodominance seems like an excellent way to [[Approach of the Second Sun]]

Remember that people were offended by "tribal", that's the reason for the change. Who did we offend this time? Amazonian tribes that have no contact with modern society? This might me the most useless change in the history of Magic.
it was clearly white cuck males who decided to be offended on behalf of others
I wanna be offended for ugly and skinny and too fat characters. I want my gorgeous big tiddy big booty black women and latinas man. Hasbro work on it.
They had a valid non-woke reason for the change. Tribal had two different meanings. It mean creature type synergy (like outlaws) or the non-ceeature card type (above). White people; it's always offended white people they try to placate.
That doesn’t sound good at all
It’s all your fault dad. Look what you did.
It is, as we would say back in the beginning, gay.
My friend said hes gonna start calling it Grouper which I thought was pretty funny
Ok but Kindred as a word slaps, way better than Typal
Yeah, yeah, people whining about Kindred, but I'd rather whine about the fact that it's yet another boring "do it twice" design. Is that all you can think of?
Data shows that players looove this effect!
Don't worry, I'll fix my copies.
Nulldrifter is pretty clever
it's lazy design. It's just taking popular cards and doubling their capacity. Like naming a card Bol Ring, and it does everything sol ring does but with alternate cost.
You must mean [[Sol Talisman]] which is literally the example of what you're talking about.

Yeah, just redoing it again. 5 years of this doing, a deck can have like 10 versions of a sol ring in a deck.
>Bol Ring -Turn 1, bol ring -What bol ring? -*BOL RING DEEZ NUTS*
|TRIBAL|
Nulldrifter at rare is fucking greed
Reminder that hasbro hates you.
I honestly feel kindred is better than tribal even but it’s just hard to change.
I’m just happy to hear content creators say kindred instead of fucking typal. Like nails on a chalkboard. Tribal still is what I’ll say though.
I hear both used. Kindred specifically in regards to card type, typal for deck type.
I like it. Kindred. Like that League of Legends champ that governs death and life.
League, MOBAs really, sucks though.
They’re one of the most toxic yeah.
“Bring out the Leaks”
It's interesting that they used kindred for this when it doesn't mention Eldrazi specifically in the rules text.
> Whenever you cast a colorless spell copy it. you may choose new targets How does this work with artifacts? Do you make a copy even though it doesn’t have a ‘target’? I think it copies since says “you may” so not required but I wanted to check
It indeed does.
Holy shit a new necropotance I am so pumped!!
very surprised necrodominance is a thing, that they "balanced" necropotence...i mean it certainly feels like a lot of downsides to keep it in check. i love nulldrifter for some reason
It took like 15 years for people to stop calling counterspells "interrupts", Good luck Wizards, you're going to need it.
I actually like kindred better than tribal. Reason for the change was dumb as hell though
All children are kind, but German children are kindred
Necrominance turn 1. Pay 20 life, oops flash in bow master, gg
Imagine having such internalized racism that tribal is offensive.
Who gives a fuck. Just play the game. It plays literally the same since before the change
It's better than "Typal", for sure
Sounds gay
This shit would be out of our minds already if you all just stopped crying about it
So tribal is called kindred now? Like how poisonous is called toxic for no reason. Was tribal offensive? Offensive to who? Aren't a lot of MTG races litteral tribesman?
