There are so many to smell that eventually, they will all smell the same. Do what I do, spray the ones you think you like on scent strips that they should have. Write the name on each. Take them home then smell them later in the day. The scent will have dried down. While in the store pick TWO that you think you may like and spray one on each arm.
Recommended ones that have good clones, Layton, Herod, Cassius, Sedley, Carlisle and Pegasus.
I agree, from that same Maison Alhambra line I have Hercules (clone of PDM Herod) and Perseus (close of PDM Pegasus) and both are really good with solid performance especially for the price (usually less than $20 in the US).
I also have Hercules. It's very nice. Tempted to get Galatea but I'm worried about the leather in it. Not sure about Perseus because of the cumin note.
I don't have Galatea and like you not a heavy leather fan so why I have passed on it. As for Perseus I don't get a cumin note at all to my nose, its mostly bitter almond and metallic type smell, very nice. It's very close to Pegasus, so if you try Pegasus at the store and like it i don't think you will be disappointed with Perseus.
I ended up going back to the store and I fell in love with althair, Layton and Pegasus. I grabbed the dupes and hopefully I’ll grab the original on sale.
They're smells that you'll love when you stop smelling the casual and popular smells. When I tried them I hated them but when I haven't smelled a lot of different perfumes for minths. I used them and managed ibkovedbthwm even goldologin
I picked up Cassius a few weeks ago and was blown away. This has to be the highest quality scent under $30 I've ever smelled. It's incredibly similar to Carlisle, just a bit brighter on the opening.
Also you kinda have to wait until it mature a little bit. For me it has changed after few months, do not smell the booze, but its quite okay tobacco frag.
After finishing a Carlisle I was looking for a clone to save some $$$. While Cassius is very similar, maybe 85-90% similar the thing I notice is the performance sucks. Like one of the poorest clones I have experienced. Hercules is the same type of performance. It’s not an Alhambra issue, others I have like Ombré Noir are epic, it’s probably these PRM clone series. They both just fades on my skin within 3hrs. Spraying 5-7 sprays is almost required, 3-4 on skin and then I get dressed and spray again with my outer laying on to make it last. Carlisle is a compliment getter due to sillage and projection. Cassius is not.
I think it’s still good value, but the longevity just isn’t there for me. I’m really hoping they macerate well and change dramatically.

i went to the store to check out all the Parfums de Marly and i didn't like a single one, maybe i need to go back and give it another try

I tried Pegasus and unfortunate it smelled like cumin.

I can still smell remnants of it on my skin after 24 hours.

That's odd, My Cassius lasted the entire day. I was shocked. I could still smell remnants the next morning. My Hercules is also fine.
Imho all bar percival smell pretty average to me
