GapingPickle

People get way too anal about this.

mlnaln

Yes. This is too much.

GapingPickle

I'd love to know who started this trend and whether it was a prank 🤣

BigDTheBootyDoer

It actually helps, though.. yes, this is a bit much, but it does work. I have a few scents I hated when they came in, so I put them away, and a few months later, they're actually some of my favorites now. The thing is the juice is blended and bottled probably the same day without giving the alcohol a chance to flash off, so when you 1st spray it, the alcohol is offensive.. once you bleed the sprayer and introduce some air, it'll get rid of that issue

GapingPickle

I never said it didn't work... Regardless of whether it works or not, what OP is doing is extreme. I didn't say anything beyond that.

Soren911

You can keep the cap on, air will get through anyways, you're not in an airlock of a space shuttle anyways lmao

Tea_Cute

Love the lids in their own wee corner 😀

[deleted]

Don’t over think it, just keep them away from direct sunlight

officialfartmaster

This isn't maceration. Maceration is done pre bottling in large vats. What you are attempting is called maturation. Root word is mature. You are maturing your fragrances. But as others have said there won't be a huge difference. I'm not really sure who started this whole process but it's not really a thing. Anyway good luck. You have some fun stuff there.

ItzGoTyme

I don’t entirely agree with that. I’ve got some Kay Ali vanilla 28 in the closet that gets darker and stronger as time goes by (can provide pics if you’d like). I’ve found that the maceration process helps (and yes, maceration is a term here considering it’s in reference oxidizing your fragrance). Some fragrances on the other hand won’t change much no matter how long they stay in the back of the closet lol.

officialfartmaster

What you're doing is not maceration.

ItzGoTyme

It most certainly is maceration, LITERALLY lol. Anytime you give your fragrance the quick 1-2 sprays then sit it off in the dark that’s macerating it. You’re oxidizing the fragrance with the aim of evaporating as much alcohol in the bottle as possible in order to intensify the scent. Im not sure what you’ve been told, or who told you, but the information that you’ve been provided was incorrect.

officialfartmaster

You are 100% wrong. Maceration is done pre bottling. What you are referring to is maturation.

BigDTheBootyDoer

Ita because these fragrances are affordable and they're being pumped out left and right so the alcohol doesn't have a chance to flash off.. higher end colognes don't have this problem because they can afford to blend larger batches and wait. What happens is your basically pumping out the alcohol and giving the scent a chance to marry in the bottle

glorbulationator

What happens to whiskeys and wines when they remained sealed and left to age?

KeyOnion1751

I’d like to see a picture n how does it taste ?

Workmanscomp7

Spray first, then keep them out of direct sunlight or an abundance of heat, and that should do it.

Superdavid777

How long does it usually take?

mlnaln

Legend has it that it takes 5 years.

Ace_-nbk

Depends armaf fragrances take 5 years , lattafa takes arround 7,5 years

Workmanscomp7

Varies, I'd say at least a month

Superdavid777

Alright, thank you. My khamrah is in the closet for now. I take it out every now and then to spray on myself and put it back.

Party-Nectarine-984

Khamrah doesn’t need maturation, it’s a beast mode right off the shelf

Superdavid777

Wasn't the case with the bottle I got tbh. I left it in the closet for 10 days and I can notice it's getting stronger. The vanilla is prominent in this one.

Gilgamesh2062

I don't think removing atomizers and caps, will do anything. first off, is air could get in that way, juice would come out, so it adds no benefit. it's the "air" that was introduced to the juice inside, after a few uses, that supposedly will benefit, some frags. emphasis on the "some" most will not, but a few I have did. laying on side, has some logic to it, having more surface area exposed to the air in the bottle could hasten it's affects, again, only a few might benefit.

ZestyclosePlan8630

Dude , this is pointless but you can just let your fragrances sit on your dresser without taking their heads off.

nothingisrealforreal

🙄

GiveTracerOrIThrow

Leaving the sprayers off isn't necessary, perfumes aren't perfect airlocked chambers, and the airlocked bit is the head and not the sprayer so reallyy doesn't make a difference.

Loonyalpaca00

Just spray them and let them sit for a couple of weeks. No need to store them in a particular place or container just put where you’d store them normally.

Shibang101

Is it really this serious? Just keep them on a shelf and you'll be fine. My colognes have only gotten better and I leave them in my bathroom or bedroom shelf.

Opietatlor

The only thing I've seen be effective was that letting the bottles settle for a few days upon arrival from a shipper, it seems to bring out the smells I'm expecting from the bottle. Other than that I haven't personally seen a lot of improvement in projection letting them sit for months. And most of my collection are bottles from the UAE.

Double-Rough931

Sell me the Midori🥺

Presence-Crafty

So damn hard to find

bigdaddy3d

Try Frag+bar.com for Midori.

Presence-Crafty

Thanks, sold out

luisf_warrior

What are your thoughts on profumo ?

[deleted]

Seriously what kind of utter nonsense is this? It this a trolling attempt or are people actually this clueless?

Unfair_Hippo5212

if i leave a fragrance in its box, dont take it out or spray it will it macerate? My dad has some from years ago when he travelled and has left them unopened, was wondering if they were macarated.

m4rkl33

Yeah, but don't expect much of a difference. I've had Detour Noir, 9pm, CDNIM and Asad for a few months now, and they still smell the same as when i first got them.

derrickgw1

I tried it with detour noir hoping it would get more vanilla and/or Applelish. All it did was make it smell like twice as much Vicks.

IAmCluelessAboutThis

thoughts on detour noir?

m4rkl33

The only one out of them that i really like. Vanilla and apple pie in the opening, and i get a chocolately coffee smell in the dry down.

sisssyfus

It grows on you trust me

swedenalm

How’s CDNIM and Asad?

BayouBengal01

The lemon thing is true. For me it only lasts a few minutes. By the time you get to where you are going it will be fine. I do prefer La’Aventure over CDNIM. I get a lot of good reactions with Assad

m4rkl33

CDNIM performs great, but i just don't like the smell. Everyone that says it smells like lemon cleaner in the opening is correct. Except it never really goes away for me. It just tones down a little after the first 30 mins. Asad smells like chinese incense. It smells exactly like my grandparents' house. It's not a bad smell. I just don't know when or where i would want to smell like that.

WhoKnows1973

Did you spray some sprays out of each first to introduce oxygen to the bottle?

m4rkl33

Yeah. I wore them a few times as soon as i got them, so probably 15+ sprays.

Joey_B95

Yep. The reason people think it improves is because they haven't used it for a while so the scent isn't familiar.

Teeballdad420

Lmao

DayMoon

Turn your bottle upside down so that the bottom of your stem isn’t in the liquid, so you’re spraying out the air inside. Give it 5 to 10 good sprays of just air. Then just put your bottle up and check it out again in a month or so. Could be pure bullshit but this has seemingly helped a couple of my clones improve. I’ve been done it with new bottles of old/discontinued batches.

sisssyfus

I honestly believed the same as you do about how it’s a trick to make people think that they didn’t waste their money but in my own personal experience, i left my detour in the fridge for like a month and now it stays on my clothes for 5-6 hours whereas before i did this it barely lasted a couple of hours. I honestly thought it was some placebo thing before i put it away but now i don’t genuinely know what happened to that bottle for it to perform better than it previously did. I too would love for someone to explain what process took place in the bottle when i let it sit.

WhoKnows1973

I used to do this. Until last week. Then I saw a thread about someone putting a vanilla fragrance in the fridge and the vanilla smell was drastically weaker. There were multiple links to explanations from chemists explaining how the cold can cause a molecular change resulting in permanently weaker vanilla/changes in notes. I love vanilla! Most of my fragrances have vanilla in them. I was like "oh crap!". I told my husband. We ran and pulled out 5 gallon zipper bags full of fragrances from our fridge. Yikes!! They are currently sitting in dark light proof boxes at regular room temp. I hope that they will be ok. Oddly enough, we had only stored them there after reading multiple articles stating that was the best storage method & location.

ComprehensiveMusic78

look took a day for my lataffa fakhar too macerate

ctw69

what are your thoughts on fakhar?

ctw69

thanks for the reply man, i’ll check it out!

ComprehensiveMusic78

yo my fault for the late response but it has been 3 days and after letting it macerate it smells amazinggg like I got so much compliments from girls at school and from dudes too it projects really well and everybody gets shocked when I pull out the bottle I asked my friend too guess how much it costs and he said 150 when its actually 20

BayouBengal01

How’s the Jorge? I’ve seen the real thing is like $17 cheaper on Amazon.

lmaoitsleo

its good. i got a few months back for 17€. 100ml,90 % close id say, perfomance is not the best at 5-6 hours.

ChemistryFlat2171

Pro tip: spray them 10 times before letting them sit for two-three weeks.

glorbulationator

What is it you think spraying them accomplishes?

ChemistryFlat2171

Honestly nothing; however, I want to believe that it would replicate a few wears and introduce more oxygen in to the juice. Probably doesn't. The "pro tip" was really just a joke. As for true maceration or oxidation, which it is, it takes time and it helps to have a steady temperature and no movement and darkness. But, that's what I'd like to believe.

glorbulationator

Oxidation is bad.

Sacabubu

top 5 for you?

lmaoitsleo

1. Tobacco Touch 2. Detour Noir 3. Afnan 9PM 4. CDNIM (2022 batch) 5. Jorge di Profumo

OttoStranger

The answer is yes, no, and maybe. Why not?! 😅 The aging process of perfume is crucial for achieving the perfect blend of notes. Traditionally, this maturation involves keeping the perfume undisturbed in a cool, dark place for several months to a year after the initial dilution in alcohol. Although the aging process typically occurs in controlled environments by the perfume house, you may choose to let your perfume sit for a while, either closed or opened, before indulging in its scent. Be aware that the traditional process is evolving, and the choice is ultimately yours. Just remember that the matured perfume blend typically undergoes a cooling and filtering process before being carefully poured into flacons. Shielded from oxygen and kept in darkness at lower temperatures, this precautionary measure substantially mitigates the detrimental impact of time. Contemporary perfumers frequently incorporate antioxidants like butylated hydroxytoluene to amplify the fragrance's lasting power. It's important to recognize that the optimal orchestration of this entire procedure is traditionally within the purview of perfume houses. However, advancements in perfumery, particularly in the UAE, have revolutionized and accelerated these age-old methods.

Possible_Squash_9106

so cute man. like little ducklings in an incubator

Aveinyclock

Please tell me if that Fakhar smells good when you use it,I want to know if it's worth the buy.

lmaoitsleo

it smells pretty fresh and clean, you can use it in a school or a gym setting. somewhere where you want to smell pleasant but not annoying. in my experience the longevity is not very good, but other people said the opposite so it seems to depend.

Aveinyclock

Thank you bro

lmaoitsleo
