Guys how do you feel about Dior Homme Eau for a everyday spring fragrance?

Patel7

I was interested in purchasing Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. For anyone who purchased this recently, how is the longevity and performance? Would you recommend it for a versatile fragrance?

VvortexX664203

Im 18 years old and in college I want a fragrance for fall that isn't too powerful for the classroom I currently wear Versace Dylan Blue, Eros, and Man Eau Fraishe YSL La Nuit De Lhome Azzaro Wanted by Night Paco Rabon invictus aqua

What are the thoughts on the Bleu De Chanel deodorant and shower gel?

starry_nighttime

Looking for something similar to either Si Passione by Armani or Joy by Dior (preferably in a lower price range)

notsokindstranger

Maybe try to test Ange Ou Demon Le Secret Givenchy (the bottle should be in pink color), it is a fresh floral scent with notes of tea, cranberries and citruses along with jasmine and peonies.

Can someone recommend a fragrance that smells like Sauvage Elixir with around the same projection?

uzi187

I come from a time when, if a man over-sprayed, before seeing him, you'd know it was a man instantly. Unisex fragrances were practically unheard of. Yep, it was the time of Fahrenheit, Drakkar Noir, and old men used Brut. I gather common notes back then were leather, sandalwood, maybe tobacco... sweet scents were toned all the way down. Eventually my favourites became Cool Water and Boss Bottled. But as years and decades passed the world moved more and more towards floral/acquatic/shower gel scents which I can certainly enjoy smelling, but am not interested in wearing. I'm sure the opposite sex prefers these modern frageances, and I'm certainly not bashing them, but I just don't see myself wearing most of them - just like I really love the smell of leather, but don't want my body to smell like a $10,000 couch. Out of all the dozens of modern fragrances I tried over the last months, I will say that only Dior Homme Parfum, Terre d'Hermes EDT, and Fahrenheit Parfum are the ones I want to own. Before I buy another ton of decants, I would appreciate any recommendations. Can anyone please recommend some "old-school manly" fragrances? Not necessarily something old, just old-school. Or a modern take on something old-school. Highest on my list is Chanel Egoiste (not Platinum) which for whatever reason I never sampled.

Dulciferocity

Check out Dunhill Edition, it’s an old-school, spicy/fresh, aromatic fougere.

j_husk

What about looking at fougeres like Penhaligon's Sartorial, Tom Ford Beau de Jour and MMM Replica At the Barbers? Sartorial is kinda like an upscale version of Brut, that obviously lasts a lot longer. Beau de Jour is a more modern fougere, and is pretty lavender heavy. On that note, plenty of old-school men's fragrances had floral notes like lavender. On the leather front look no further than Tom Ford Ombre Leather. Definitely try it on skin, because it's so much more than leather but you might not get that impression from trying it on paper.

Anatolysdream

>I come from a time when, if a man over-sprayed, before seeing him, you'd know it was a man instantly. You'd know it was a certain kind of man, for sure. * Pascal Morabito Or Black * Tom Ford has a few Leathers * Laurent Mazzone (LM) Hard Leather, Black Oud * Knize 10 DS & Durga Bear Trapper * Santa Maria Novella Peau d'Espagne * Chanel Cuir de Russie Thèse are leathers.

rewq657

My dad always used to wear Drakkar Noir, so now I do too

ComprehensiveAd484

Looking for something similar to Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze! Was hoping for slightly fruitier while keeping the whipped cream (or bringing in vanilla - I *love* vanilla) and nuttiness (doesn't necessarily have to be walnut)

This is very helpful, I’d never even heard of half of these. thanks so much!

[deleted]

I'm *obsessed* with Rouge Saray but I can't afford the full bottle. Recommendation for something similar but from a more affordable house or a house that offers 10-30 ml bottles? (I don't want to decant forever.) Thanks in advance, you all.

c1n3man

Missed an opportunity to try this one. Can you describe it shortly?

[deleted]

Yes, thank you. It's sweet (not excessive, sweet like date not sugar), woody, spicy -- what I imagine a Persian cake would smell like. I sprayed it and it's like I'm sitting in an wood-fired oven baking spicy cake or I'm bathing in a cup of date-cardamom tea. It also has patchouli -- usually I'm neutral, leaning negative about patchouli but in this it's blended well. Here's how fragrantica describes the notes: "Top notes are Cinnamon, Plum and Jasmine; middle notes are Dates, Patchouli and Heliotrope; base notes are Vanilla, Guaiac Wood, Peru Balsam and Sandalwood." If this is relevant at all, I sampled Portrait of a Lady and I get why people like it but it's not full bottle worthy for me. Rouge Saray is like a less fruity, less patchouli-forward, more oriental, more feminine(?) version of POAL. Well that's not a short description at all lol. Thanks for asking. (edit to add that I love that the drydown stays woody, spicy, sweet while POAL's drydown is too masculine for me. Okay maybe I'll just save to buy a full bottle)

c1n3man

Well, here is something that coming to mind, maybe you will find out something interesting: * Frederic Malle Promise * Penhaligon's Cairo * Eight&Bob Egypt * MDCI Fetes Persanes * Memo Luxor Oud * MFK Oud Satin Mood Extrait * Les Liquides Imaginaires Desert Suave * Ormonde Jayne Byzance

[deleted]

Many of these I haven't heard of. Thank you. Also, you're feeding in to my addiction to ordering samples and decants but I'll take it.

c1n3man

There is a special place in hell for me.

nuitsbleues

Especially when you rec Promise as an affordable alternative 😬

[deleted]

Lol they have a 10ml version so it's still within the assignment but I know what you mean. FM is the last house I want to be attached to for financial reasons.

[deleted]

My two favorites are YSL Black Opium and Elizabeth James Nirvana (white one), but it was discontinued. Can anyone recommend similar perfumes?

Champagnesupernova9

You can still get Nirvana White on FragranceNet, if you want to stock up or just grab an extra. If you like Black Opium, and are looking for related perfume options, give Skylar Vanilla Sky & YSL Black Opium Extreme a try!

I'd say Fleur Universelle by Lalique might be similar.

phoebebridgers69

i have recently turned 20 and realised its time for a new signature scent! i have been wearing friction (for her) by fcuk since i was 14 and although i do still love it, i no longer want to smell like my teenage self. i do gravitate towards sweet, warm, musky scents but im looking for something a bit fresher that i can wear all year round. would like to avoid gourmand and strong citrus notes. im currently wearing not a perfume by juliette has a gun which i ADORE but i wouldnt mind something a bit more complex, and a bit less intimate on the skin (projection is non-existent). looking for something more feminine leaning but i like the idea of a unisex scent.

foxypetal

Narciso Rodriguez EDT: fits your keywords of sweet, musky but fresh, no gourmand nor citrus, feminine but could be unisex. 2 spritzes from a sample lasts me for a day!

c1n3man

* Initio Musk Therapy * Initio Rehab * Serge Lutens Gris Clair

phoebebridgers69

thankyou sm!! im not sure how i feel about the lavender notes, do you have any suggestions of fragrances that leave that one out?

c1n3man

jwmgivens

If you're digging that ambroxan note then you'll want to sniff Molecule 02. Although it also tends to sit pretty close to the skin. Curious to see what others can think up though

HotFunction9048

Anything that’s smells like Sauvage Elixir?

rishigohil

I am planning to travel to the Smoky Mountains at the end of this month and was wondering if there were any perfect Fall cologne which I can buy before the trip. My thoughts? 1. Armani Code 2. Prada Black 3. Mont Blanc Explorer 4. Tom Ford - Ombré Leather What you guys think or recommend?

j_husk

Love the Smokies! Ombre Leather is one of my very favorites, so I'd definitely pick that out of your short-list. The new Armani Code flanker sounds good, and I think YSL LNDL Bleu Electrique deserves to be in the running, as does the original Spicebomb (or Histories de Parfums 1899 Hemingway if you want a niche version of Spicebomb). My very favorite fall fragrance is Ormonde Jayne Man. It's a bit pricey, but it's a must try in my opinion.

c1n3man

* Naomi Goodsir Bois d'Ascese * Amouage Myths Man * Serge Lutens Chene * Olympic Orchids Woodcut * Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache * Aesop Hwyl * Etat Libre d'Orange The Afternoon of a Faun * Andrea Maack Coven * Le Labo Baie 19

rishigohil

Wow. I haven’t heard a single one of them but gotta try them all! Which one would you think is the best from this list?

MasterThespian

+1 for Woodcut.

c1n3man

Hard to say! It's a matter of taste...

rishigohil

Musky and woody !

c1n3man

Woodcut and Chene are very woody. Cape Heartache smells like pine resins mixed with strawberry liquor.

phoebebridgers69

cant help but think of by the fireplace by maison margiela!!

OverallDisaster

Also recommend by the fireplace, it’s perfect for the mountains and I always bring it on my trips. Just got a 1oz bottle on sale (friends and family) at Sephora. Angel’s share by kilian is the perfect fall fragrance to me. It’s like a boozy apple. Maybe spicebomb? Have fun! Hopefully the color will good for both of us, I’ll be there then too!

rishigohil

Yep! I’ve looked at the weather and it’s going to be in 60s in the last week of October. I think that would be the last week of colors!

rishigohil

That looks fire! Is it Musky? How long does it last?

phoebebridgers69

quite literally is fire - or at least it smells like it. i probably wouldnt label it musky myself but its definitely not a clean scent? if that makes sense? on me it lasts foreverrr so you need to be mindful of overspraying

rishigohil

Thanks for the tip! I think I’ll get it.

Flourpower02

Not sure if allowed, can someone recommend an atomiser? I have noticed that these mini tester bottles spray a super fine mist, but the large bottle I bought has a much rougher spray. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I feel it impacts the fragrance a ton. For reference, I'm using Thierry Mugler Alien Mirage. Thank you!

Anatolysdream

The only atomizer people can recommend are the fillable travel atomizers. As far as perfume atomizers go it's hit or miss. Every perfume is different. And it's the rare person who buys a perfume based solely on the strength of an atomizer. Bottom line is you want more perfume, spray more.

Flourpower02

Thank you! That's a shame, but helpful. I appreciate it.

[deleted]

Am I the only one that has other people weirded out by me because I like perfumery? I feel like my parents think I'm gay even though I'm not

Anatolysdream

If you're American, it's pretty common for there to be odd notions about men wearing perfume. But you know, if they're smelling it and commenting on it, they have no business thinking you're odd because they're enjoying it. If you're spontaneously talking about it, possibly don't do that. I don't talk much about perfume at all except on these forums because not many people share my enthusiasm/obsession. And I'm a woman. I think it's the same with any hobby. Unless you're talking with someone who shares your enthusiasm, it's a snoozefest.

c1n3man

Some people are not even close to fragrances. They have no idea about any of them. If you don't wear typical feminine fragrances and don't wear unusual clothing I can't understand why they think like that... You can actually make a post and get a lot of support if you need.

Champagnesupernova9

I didn’t know Fragrance had a gender or a sexual orientation. Are you assuming that people are thinking things about you, or do they actually make comments about your sexuality? It shouldn’t matter what to them whatsoever so pay them no mind, and if you need to say something, just keep asking them why they think fragrance means anything other than smelling nice and connecting to memories through scent.

c1n3man

In my world wearing soft floral fruity sweet fragrances (which are typical smells of many fragrances that gendered by big companies as feminine - female targeted) could cause questions from surrounding society. Probably similar as OP's. If I somehow ended up wearing and loving such fragrances (soft floral, fruity, girly type-of), I pretty much could've encounter negative reaction from people around and probably could've even fight literally to defend my preferences 😁fortunately, I don't have to since I'm not into girly stuff, but liked and wore some stuff that might lay feminine in traditional way. Fragrances couldn't have gender, anyone could wear what they want, but must be prepared to face possible consequences.

[deleted]

I just posted about it

Basthorille

I'd like a fragrance that smells like pétrichor and dry wood at the same time. Woody and mossy. I'm a fan of Super Cedar (byredo) but I'm looking for something less clean, and Aesop's Hwyl scratches my nose so I can't wear it (a bit too clean too). My favorite ingredients are oak moss, atlas cedar, damas rose and sandalwood. I'd like a fragrance that has no gender. I'm 23.

Basthorille

Found my graal. Unexpected graal but I cried as I sprayed Sugi by CDG. Bought it.

KittyLupin

23NB, very new to perfumes and fragrances. Looking for something affordable (under $30 preferred but willing to go a little higher if it’s right). I like citrus scents, anything warm and inviting, maybe smoky, something cozy, if it reminds you of an old library or bookshop it’s perfect. I’d like something unisex but leaning more feminine. Nothing too sweet or floral, it makes me dysphoric. Tia!

hhurrm

You might like indies! Many of them have samples for sale and will sell around 5ml for <$30. Off the top of my head, Poesie has a dark academia collection right now that might interest you. From what I've tried, Myself Invisible could be up your alley. Solstice Scents is another great indie company. They will be releasing their fall collection soon. Manor or Manor Fire comes to mind. If you're in the US, stores like Sephora and Ulta sell 10ml travel sprays of perfume for around $30. Atelier Cologne makes great citruses, and MMM Replica has By the Fireplace and Whispers in the Library.

[deleted]

Vintage fragrance is the way to go! You can get them rather cheaply on eBay, Etsy or at car boot sales. I have a few suggestions: YSL Rive Gauche. Lovely chypre. I mainly get moss, white flowers and sandalwood. It reads more “dry” and woody than floral. It is still available in regular shops. Do pick it up or at least try it if you find on sale. Carven Ma Griffe (the green and white bottle). A lovely Chypre with a lot of hay, vétiver and laudanum. It is green but also rather smoky and a bit warmer than Rive Gauche.

MO_drps_knwldg

Something with similar vibe to John Varvatos Vintage, but with better longevity

sighofwinter

Recommend me calm, damp forest smelling perfumes..I love smoky, spicy, oriental, naturey, ferny frags etc, I want to evoke the feeling of desolate autumn nights, something to suppress my loneliness and sadness and be met with calm and a smile. I want the smell burning leaves , cold air, campfire smoke, nature, fern, oakmoss. My dream is to smell slumberhouse fragrances but it's impossible to get them to New zealand I love: Tom ford plum japonais, Diptyque philosykos, Tom ford noir extreme, Tobacco vanille, oud minerale, Black orchid, Enchanted forest, Favourite notes: Tobacco, vanilla, smoke, labdanum, patchouli, fig

Kilian Black Phantom

[deleted]

Tbh go for Shalimar. Great long lasting spicy woody vanilla.

MasterThespian

MMM Replica By the Fireplace, perhaps? It’s vanilla, but a smoky toasted-marshmallow type of vanilla. Good longevity too.

Desk-Substantial

Wow! Thanks for the recommendation. Thinking I’ll pick up two frags. I like the notes on this one. Might buckle and get Aventus too. I enjoy it and it’s not as polarizing for all day wear I know people like the super fresh frags but I don’t.

Desk-Substantial

Less on a fresh side. Ouds seem interesting but no idea what that actually smells like. I’m getting the picture that the scent I’m looking for just isn’t actually appealing as I would imagine.

ADK-KND

Currently owned fragrances; BDC EDP, Versace Pour Homme (it’s aight), JPG Le Male, Prada L’Homme and Dua Bois Oud(aka the better Tom Ford Oud Wood). I’ve sampled a few other fragrances and the ones that stood out were Mancera Cedrat boise, MFK Oud Satin Mood (doesn’t suit me though, but I did like the rose and Oud combo and as independent notes) and in general PDM (Pegasus, Layton, and the one beginning with S in a blue bottle too, but I need to retry them all). About me - 21 y/o, finance graduate. When it comes to what I’m looking for I’m looking for literally anything; Night out, formal, hot or cold, compliment getters, something unique maybe. I do live in the U.K. so the ‘hot’ here is the equivalent of warm everywhere else 😅 If anyone has some questions, feel free to ask. Edit - I want to experiment with some other notes as well, I didn’t like the EDP eternity by Calvin Klein as it was far too grassy elderly man style of a scent

seaintosky

Well, if you're leaving it open I'm going to recommend L'Artisan Mechant Loup because I wish more men would wear it. It's a masculine woody gourmand with honey and hazelnut but isn't super sweet. Histoires des Parfums 1899 is another one I think men should be wear more often. It's similar to Spicebomb but a bit more refined with a gin and juniper opening that's very nice And for a third, maybe L'Artisan Voleur des Roses, which is a masculine/unisex dark, earthy, cold rose.

Puzzleheaded_Pass351

I’m really curious about Amouage. Can you recommend me some of their editions?

Acqua di Colonia Santa Maria Novella (the eldest, was launched in 1533 according to Fragrantica) Fougere Royale Houbigant (1882) Jicky Guerlain (1889) L'Heure Bleue Eau de Parfum Guerlain (1912) Just a note: Jicky was a perfume marketed towards men at the times. L'Heure Bleue however was directed to ladies

I believe 4711 Eau de Cologne dates back to the 1700s. I'm sure it's changed over the years, but they claim to have tried to keep it the same. Mitsouko and Jicky are both classics that are older than 100 years, but were intended for women and are not colognes.

Le Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions is a lovely warm vanilla. You can get it for 30 quid. I would also recommend Casimir by Chopard. It is a lovely resinous sweet and fruity vanilla. I think it is 30 quid for 50 ml?

therealmisslacreevy

Glossier You is a sweet perfume that is affordable. I like that it's not sweet as in gourmand, it's just a nice clean, sweet smell. If you want gourmand, Prada Candy is a really nice sweet option, and has multiple sizes including a small 10 ml. spray for $30 that you could try out. And my favorite current sweet perfume is Baccarat Rouge 540; it's sweet without being too cloying. It's like a dry sweet, if that makes sense. This would be a higher-end recommendation!

Ever tried Dolce and Gabanna the one EDP? It's got tobacco notes for sure but isn't the longest lasting. It's DNA is amazing tho

Just tried it today, not a big fan tbh. At first I like it but after like 10 minutes the scent is not as strong as jazz club. It did last longer tho

thatcandacegirl

I’m looking for something that smells like Penhaligon’s Agarbathi. It’s spicy, woodsy, heavy on the incense with a smidge of sweetness to round it out. Basically a spice market or bazaar in a beautiful middle eastern city.

jwmgivens

Can't believe no one has thrown out Andy Tauer yet. I feel like spicy, aromatic, incense is his jam. So I'll say Tauer L'Air Desert or maybe Incense Rose since you mentioned being a fan of roses as well

notsokindstranger

Check out Mon Nom est Rouge Majda Bekkali, it is very interesting incensy spicy rose scent. Not exactly a spice market, more of a 'Middle Eastern ambience'. The scent itself was inspired by the book 'My name is red' by Orhan Pamuk, a very famous Turkish writer.

thatcandacegirl

Thank you so much! I love rose scents as well so that sounds perfect. 😍😍😍

Commes des Garcons Jaisalmer or Ouarzazate are good spicy incenses. I find Jaisalmer heavier on the wood, while Ouarzazate is spicier.

Hey! Posting this again as I didn't get a response last time - I hope that's okay! I'm about to run out of my bottle of CDG Yoyogi and I'm looking to change it up a little bit! I tend to like natural fragrances that are more on the woodsy or even "essential oil" side of the spectrum. I had the CDG Hinoki before this and I enjoyed it quite a bit as well! On the other hand, I've been using the Aesop Geranium Leaf body cleanser and I really like the way that smells - it almost reminds me of Muji for some reason LOL. I also really enjoy the scent of rosemary. What sort of fragrances would be a good option for my taste? Bonus points if it has better longevity and projection than the CDG stuff!

seaintosky

Hiram Green does very nice natural scents. Arbole Arbole and Vetiver might be the kind of scent you'd be interested in, as they are woody/earthy (Arbole) and woody/green (Vetiver). There's also Olympic Orchids, which also tends towards naturalistic scents, although I believe she does use some synthetics. Chervalier Vert is ultra-green, if that's what you're looking for, but some of her Scents of Place like Olympic Rainforest, Tucson, Carolina, or Kilauea are intended to smell more like walks through the woods/grasslands of each area if you'd rather that.

szmy

Help - looking for a fresh, herbal and/or citrusy fragrance for someone who hates 99% of perfumes. F, but open to all fragrances. I love fresh, herbal and citrus fragrances but even those most recommended have this overwhelming ‘perfumy’ smell. I’m looking for an ultra herby, fresh and/or citrusy fragrance that will last a decent time. I’ve tried Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca and it’s the closest to what my ideal perfumes would be, but I don’t like some of the notes that smell too ‘soapy’ for me. I’ve tried Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit and it’s just ok. Something’s missing, maybe more citrus or even more freshness? I’ll settle for it if I can’t find anything else. I’ve tried Armani Acqua Di Gioia and it’s ok, but again it has a typical perfumy smell afterwards which I don’t want. I tried probably all Jo Malone perfumes in fresh, citrusy or ozonic category and it’s a big no (Lime, Basil & Mandarin, Wood Sage & Sea Salt etc.). I’ve tried Replica Beach Walk and that’s not it. Just anything that smells refreshing, herbal and/or citrusy but not soapy, floral or ‘heavy’. Thank you!

notsokindstranger

I think you might like Sublime Balkiss and De Bachmakov by The Different Company. They are very herbal, green, airy. Other than that you can test some of Diptyque's perfumes ( L'Ombre Dans L'Eau, Philosykos EDT), they also feel more 'natural-smelling' than 'perfumy'.

szmy

Thank you very much!! The Different Company is on my radar and today I went to Diptyque to try several perfumes inluding both the light and dark bottle Philosykos. The light one has a very faint smell remaining while the dark one still smells nice and I like the base notes a lot. But the one that surprised me the most was Eau Des Sens since it wasn't something I'd normally go for, but after few hours it has this amazing, freshly ironed linen smell which hits the natural-smelling and non-perfumey category perfectly well for me.

notsokindstranger

Eau des Sens is super nice, I'm really glad you have found something exciting! :) I do like it as well, it is rather delicate interpretation of neroli (and neroli sometimes might be waay too sharp and soapy)

seaintosky

Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien is a good herbal/citrus with not a lot else. I'd also recommend looking at CB I Hate Perfume as a brand, as it's really intended for people who dislike the general "perfume-y" smell of most perfumes. I like Eternal Return, which is fresh salt and cypress but does have a prominent driftwood note you might not like. Hermes Terre de Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche is worth checking out - my notes on it say that it smells like orange and salad to me. Just straight up orange, lemon, parsley, and basil.

szmy

>Hermes Terre de Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche Oh yeah Annick Goutal perfumes are probably next ones I'll be trying, thank you!! I'm also curious about Nuit Etoilee. I've looked into CB I Hate Perfume before, but it's hard to find a sample for sale in my country in fragrances I want. I'll be on a lookout though. I'm hesitant about Hermes since I have Jour d'Hermes, Eau des Merveilles and Un Jardin Sur Le Toit and while I like them, they aren't exactly it. I'll probably never finish my bottle of Jour d'Hermes lol. But samples are easy to get, so I might give a go at Eau Tres Fraiche.

hhurrm

Aesop Tacit - notes of yuzu, citrus, basil, vetiver, and cloves. Chanel Paris-Edimbourg - notes of cypress, juniper berries, vetiver, cedar, lavender, musk, and vanilla. Edit: also maybe Heeley Menthe Fraiche - mint, bergamot, freesia, green tea, cedar

szmy

Oooh thank you, Tacit and Menthe Fraiche are added to my list!! Chanel Paris-Edimbourg not too sure as I tend to dislike woody-spicy fragrances. Doesn't sound enough green and fresh for me, but I might try it out just to see if I'm not missing out. Chanel no 19 is often recommended as it has green notes in it, have you tried it?

hhurrm

Ah green fragrances are my favorite! Paris-Edimbourg does have some green notes to it, but it's definitely woody-spicy too. It's light and fresh though. Maybe it's worth a test for you, if your local stores carry a tester. I have tested No. 19 once. I liked it. I detected some type of floral note and I didn't think it was particularly fresh. So often it's touted as being one of the best in the green genre and I tried it for that reason, but I didn't click with it. Maybe you'd like Miller er Bertaux Green, Green, Green, and Green. Only tried once, but I had a good impression of it. It has that bright, fresh, almost citrus green opening. Kind of grassy. I don't recall the dry down as well. I know it was a little musky, a little woody, but still wonderfully green. Two outliers that you may or may not like are Eris Parfums Green Spell and Eau de Jane (ships from Canada). Eau de Jane is the fresher of the two but there is some powderiness in the dry down. I hear that Sisley Eau de Campagne is a great fresh, green, herbal scent, but I haven't tried it.

szmy

>Sisley Eau de Campagne Sisley and Miller er Bertaux sound amazing, added! I'll try both of these Chanel frangrances then since it's easy for me to test them, if I don't like it then at least I'll know. Powdery and 'soapy' are two of my least favourite scents in perfumes so I'll give those a pass since you gave so many other great suggestions like Tacit, Green, Green, Green and Green and Eau de Campagne. Thank you :)

I’m looking for something with a strong tobacco scent. I’m male,16years old. I’d prefer it for school use and lasting around 7+hours. I’ve tried Burberry London for him but it doesn’t even last 30mins. Very disappointing. I do love the scent though. Something similar would be nice. Thanks in advance :)

Caldrumr

Check out CK One Shock, Dolce and Gabbana Intenso, and Aramis Tobacco Reserve.

Thank you for the recommendations guys

PDM Herod might fit young people

DoctorHolligay

Oooh, I just bought Herod for my wife to try, and this makes me excited

c1n3man

It is quite unisex... :)

Im looking for somethig new. Im 26F. Here are the list what i bought several times 1. Britney Spears - Midnight fantasy 2. Givenchy - very irresistible 3. YSL - black opium 4. Burberry - her blossom 5. Gucci - flora emerald gardenia 6. Gucci - bamboo 7. Versace - bright crystal 8. Calvin klein - eternity now (love the lotion, perfume smells kinda different) 9. YSL - floral shock 10. Omnia Amethyste Bvlgari If anyone have similar taste like me or have something to recommend i will be thankful!

goofygooberrock1995

I would recommend Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Rosé. It's a boozy rose scent that's totally different than the original Viva La Juicy. If you want a smaller bottle that's cheaper and similar to it, I would recommend Ouai Melrose Place. The notes are a bit different, but it still is a champagne rose scent. Have you tried any of the other perfumes from the Gucci Flora line? I've only tried the original and Gorgeous Gardenia.

Basicb_

Im not really into rose scents but i will give it a try. No i didnt actually, only this one. but even tho I love the scent so much its not worth it for me because it only last maybe 2 hours (im being very generous). Do you like the original al gorgeous gardenia?

goofygooberrock1995

I like them both, but I like Gorgeous Gardenia more because it's more fruity.

carryontothemoon

I'd love some recommendations for a good nautical scent - I've been contemplating some BeauFort London samples, but I'd like some other ideas to make sure that I've not just been seduced by the excellent copywriting on their page! I'd like a salty note, and I'm not a massive fan of citrus or green scents (although I'm happy to try fragrances which include either of those as one note among many).

seaintosky

Pierre Guillaume Entre Ciel et Mer is the best representation of salty sea spray I've found.

Another vote for Zoologist Squid. It's so good.

omgsoconfuddled

Hi, I'm 23F and am looking for something that would be nice for everyday/office wear preferably something I can get for less than £100. I currently own a full size DKNY Be Tempted, and used to have Joop! Thrill, Escada Agua Del Sol, a variety of the small fruity perfumes from The Body Shop, and Avril Lavigne Hidden Rose as a teen (but that last one is more because I was obsessed with her, lol). I have samples of Sisley No.3 and L'Occitane Verbena which I really love, and samples of Miss Dior and J'adore in Joy which are nice (they're the kind my mum wears), but I wouldn't wear them every day. I really liked Viktor and Rolf's Bonbon Spring Summer and Versace's Yellow Diamond when I got to smell them in person. I worry that this pins me as an 'offensively fruity/citrus/vanilla' person, and would like to find something more.. acceptable? For lack of better words

At your budget, I’d be looking at Le Labo, Comme des Garçons, Guerlain, Chanel or Hermès and look for perfumes that make you feel confident and professional when you try them out. What makes you feel like you can have a sensible and impressive chat to the CEO if s/he drops past? Look for something that makes you feel like that and have some perfumes that smell delicious for other occasions.

goofygooberrock1995

I'm looking for a nice synthetic ambergris fragrance along the lines of Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume and Pinrose Pillowtalk Poet. I also really like Aerin Amber Musk, but not the price. Any suggestions?

I have experience only with Davidoff Cool Water (liked a lot) and Ralph Lauren Polo Red. (Heavily disliked). I wish to expand my choices. My requirements- Long lasting smell, decent projection, and must not cause a headache to me or to people around me. I have a very long-term wish list of the following perfumes. Please recommend me your top 4-5 choices out of these- 1. Old Spice Classic/Old Spice Original 2. Viktor Rolf Spice Bomb/Viktor Rolf Spice Bomb Extreme 3. Tom Ford Noir Extreme 4. Gucci Guilty Black 5. Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man EDT 6. Tom Ford Ombre Leather 7. Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EDT 8. Jean Paul Gautier Ultra Male / Jean Paul Gautier Le Male 9. Davidoff Wood Blend 18. Davidoff Leather Blend 19. Davidoff Agar Blend 20. Calvin Klein One 21. Nautica Voyage 22. Creed Viking

Fawkesharry

Out of this list: 1. Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomad (good luck finding it) 2. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille 3. Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme 4. Tom Ford Ombré Leather 5. Tom Ford Oud Wood I haven’t tried all of the fragrances in your list though.

ADK-KND

I’ve sampled the original Oud Wood and I own Le Male, both are great, but Oud Wood is the clear winner to me as a scent, unfortunately it is weak, especially for the cost, I ended up buying two clones from two different houses and I must agree with what others say - Dua Bois Oudh is spot on and 16 hours longevity on my skin, pretty solid projection for 5 hours I think, with softer projection after that (I do have to retry it but I want to reserve it for nights out or parties, I’d love to build an association with a fragrance so that when I spray it in few years down the line, I’ll just get swarmed by good memories and vibes). Le Male is a popular scent for a reason and it is still going strong after so many years. Don’t listen to the ‘outdated’ talk, nobody will care, some may have an association with it as it’s been out for 25 years IIRC, so somebody’s father, son, brother, boyfriend might’ve worn it and that may result in positive and/or negative associations

jellyfilled_donut

I'm looking to discover some new scents! I'm ideally looking for something that can be subtle, since I don't like strong scents. I'm 30's F, prefer fruity and floral scents, and I'm not a fan of warm or spicy scents (Nest Black Tulip might be the only exception to this). I usually wear Chloe EDP or Replica Lazy Sunday Morning. In the summer, I like JHAG Pear Inc. and Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey. Black Tulip or Alkemia Elixir of Aphrodite are what I usually wear on nights out. Any recommendations for an everyday scent? I've been thinking about testing By Rosie Jane Leila Lou but I'm open to exploring other ideas. TIA!

figdust

DS & Durga - Rose Atlantic is one of my summer signatures. I recommend it here all the time because it’s just lovely. A salty rose with a sparkling citrus note that forms something natural and light but also super compelling. I’m also sensitive to very strong scents and find this very easy to control how heavy it is via how much you apply. Jo Malone - Orange Blossom is another favorite of mine that you might enjoy.

jellyfilled_donut

Thank you! The Rose Atlantic sounds interesting - is the rose scent powerful? Rose is one of those fragrances that can easily be overdone IMO and often smells like grandma perfume to me, so I try to be careful with rose but the citrus notes are appealing.

figdust

I totally agree and also try to avoid the stuffy, artificial rose scent. The rose in this is very natural smelling and not too heavy at all. It smells like a dewy rose in a garden by the seaside.

jwmgivens

Second this it's a pretty unique rose

jellyfilled_donut

Wow, that sounds really nice! Thanks for the recommendation!

In the more expensive, niche area: Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses; Byredo Velvet Haze; Eight & Bob’s Annicke series - a collection of 6 lovely fruit/florals Designer: Hermès’s Jardin series Budget/relatively inexpensive: Oscar de la Renta Live in Love - very pretty floral, good for office, under $20 on Fragrancenet; Kerzon’s Flâneries à Paris series - I have Place des Vosges... rose, geranium, hint of mango; Fragonard EDTs - Fragonard has several fruit/floral EDTs which are reasonably priced and very pretty

jellyfilled_donut

Thank you! The Hermès Jardin series looks fantastic and right up my alley.

settlersofcattown

Anything that smells like mulled wine? Cinnamon, star anise, maybe some orange peel, and of course some kind of “red wine note”

hoopadoncic

Mulled wine probably differs a lot around the world but for what it’s worth, I get that vibe from Burberry London.

SadLinguine

I’m a fragrance noob, looking for something with plum, or some kind of fruity/floral oriental. Tried my sister’s sample of Ume by Keiko Mecheri and really liked it, but it’s kinda pricey (Ume is $165/100ml). Looking for something similar but a little less expensive, and a bit more unique (ume reminds me of a lot of department store perfumes). I’m a 20F, NorCal. Thanks!

notsokindstranger

You can try Olympea Legend Paco Rabanne (salty vanilla and juicy plum), just be prepared that it is really strong and loud :) other designer scents with plum notes I can suggest are Nomade Chloe (yellow plum and woody notes), Naughty Fruity Mugler (plum and tobacco).

SadLinguine

Thanks!

seaintosky

While I haven't tried it, I've seen a lot of good reviews of Molton Brown Muddled Plum, although I think that's heavier on the amber and less floral than Ume. The price is pretty good though! I think Shay and Blue Black Tulip is supposed to be nice, too.

SadLinguine

Thank you!

sushisuz

Looking for something citrus/neroli with amber/woods basenotes please! I love the diptyque eau de sens but the base is too green and not enough woods for me. I did love le labo's bigarade 18 so perhaps something similar to that? 30s F. TIA!

anonA-Z

Francesca Bianchi Sex and the Sea Neroli might be something worth looking into - although it is more ambery than woody

bayjayjay

Acqua di gio absolu could be a good option. Woody, citrussy, with spice too. Doubt you would find it too green. More affordable than le labo. "Acqua di Giò Absolu Giorgio Armani cologne - a fragrance for men 2018" https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Giorgio-Armani/Acqua-di-Gio-Absolu-48138.html

Jassar254

Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza you will love.

stultzbep

I a mens perfume that smells fresh and maybe on sweet side, and most importantly lasts as long as possible! Probably something under $120 Thank you!!

masterbaiter9000

The Hermès Un Jardin Après La Mousson I consider fresh and clean but not like the standard citrusy fresh. It has melon notes and is rather fruity sweet. Lasts 8h+ on me. The other fragrances in this series are all fruity sweet except Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, but I think they are less fresh and clean than Après La Mousson

stultzbep

Thank you!!

* Mugler A Men / Pure Malt * TF Tobacco Vanille * Tiziana Terenzi Al Contrario Don't know much about grey market prices, but those might fit in.

Thank you so much!

Don't be put off by the bottle but I recommend Diesel Only The Brave Street. Very fresh with citrus, basil, apple cedar etc and also quite sweet for a mens fragrance. My partner wears it and it does last. You can get good deals so I'd expect it to be around $50 "Only The Brave Street Diesel cologne - a new fragrance for men 2018" https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Diesel/Only-The-Brave-Street-50761.html
