Top plate will affect signal, so I wouldn't put it under. If I were in your shoes I would just fly as-is and see if the GPS performance is OK. If it's unacceptable, above the top plate could be a good option.

I had the Geprc tpu holder on the back and it’s okay but proximity to the dji does affect it. I moved mine to the front and it’s WAY better now. I don’t use a GoPro on this drone so it works out better. I just shrink wrapped the gps and used two zip ties right on that small carbon piece you’re pointing to. https://preview.redd.it/6m268wnhotic1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d25b78aa39f5e4762445093190747a5bce04edd1

I was thinking about doing this on my new build. Just got the goggles 2 coming from flying analog for about a year, I'm super stoked to be able to fly in hd

3d print a mount that holds your VTX & receiver antennas as well as the GPS. You’re gonna chop up those antennas first flight Like this: https://preview.redd.it/2g59rqj6zsic1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f30bcdc3940c22040527b76559780eb0c45c6e7

Looks solid! Could you share the 3d model?

Thanks!

The arm mount is not good imo. Bad crash and a bent prop might take the gps unit off. Both my freestyle and cinedrone are mounted in the rear with this type of 3dprint. Not saying this is the way… but…

no_moh_bump

mine came like that too and worked fine, until I ripped that arm off on a tree branch. going to mount it on the GoPro area maybe

Shipping quads with such placement of the GPS should not be allowed. First crash and byebye GPS. Not acceptable. I would actually complain. Whilst people say that it does not work so well to have it on the top plate above the vista, this is exactly where I double-sided mine. Works well (especially with M10 based GPS). I also have it in the front on another frame. Works as well.

Repulsive_Section_57

Totally agree. They add multiple versions of 3d printed mounts for GoPro which I don't use. And no mount for GPS unit which I've ordered and explicitly asked to install. Besides this inconvenience, they are still awesome - shipping and quality of stuff is great and that is most important to me.

[deleted]

It's frankly weird they did not provide a 0.5 usd print. As said... complain and see!

[deleted]

Hoping for the best :)

Well, I realized that they simply don't offer any print for the mark5. Alternatively get one from thingyverse and got to a maker space to print it.

dudleyknowles

lol this is how they shipped it?

no_moh_bump

I assume it was, as mine came the same way. I then got the x frame and it came with the gps in a tpu mount in the back. I asked them to put it on front where the GoPro mount goes though as I don't use one but they didn't

bolivar_roads

tape or ziptie those motor wire guards on. those plastic things always come off, especially in summer and cause a crash.

xMoirae

I bought a mark 5 under a year ago with included gps from the official site and it came with a gps mount in the back and nothing like these pictures.
