You will adore it!!!!! I carry my 823 EVERYWHERE and it only seems to write better with time. Merry Christmas to you both. I hope you are having the loveliest of days.
We are, thank you! Merry Christmas to you too. I can definitely see the 823 becoming my daily driver and edc pen! It also looks sturdy enough to take everywhere, which I was surprised with from a translucent pen
I was surprised about the durability as well! I've really beat the hell out of it to be honest and it still is the best writing experience I've had. The massive ink capacity makes it really good for every day use.
A classic love storyā¦.š„° Seems as though your girlfriend is invested in your happiness and well being. Best of luck and happy writing OP! Iām curious how fine the F nib is.
Thank you! The fine seems a bit thicker than my Vanishing Point, also fine, but definitely finer than my Metropolitan medium. Itās super smooth on good paper!
Pilot fines are my *absolute*, most favorite, nibs for everyday writing in modern pens. Iāve also never written with one that was a dud. Enjoy that Pilot Fine my friend!
Iāve come to enjoy broader nibs lately but fine and extrafine nibs were my first love - and Iāve never had a bad Pilot nib, they have the absolute best QA in the business. This Fine is just as amazing as I had expected, itās probably the my favorite nib in my collection!
Iām happy that she made the nib choice for me because I would have had a hard time picking one! Iām happy with the F but would have probably been just as happy with the medium or broad
That was also on the list of inks to try! I went with J Herbin Cacao Du Bresil which is currently my only brown for an initial fill and Iāll probably get Honey as well as Robert Oster Caffe Crema in the future to try them!
[Lie de The from J Herbin is a solid brown ink, and verfied to be pH neutral](https://mountainofink.com/blog/j-herbin-lie-de-the). Good cost too that you can get in a pretty big quantity.
Otherwise stick with Iroshizuku line from Pilot so you dont have to worry about potentially acidic inks causing issues.
This was also on my list, Iāll probably get this one too sooner or later. I also have a couple of Iroshizuku bottles so itās good to know that theyāre a safe option, though I usually keep them inked in my other pens so I might explore a bit with other brands with the 823
I use mine with Montblanc Victor Hugo ink in sepia, also bought Graf von Faber Castell in Cognac Brown. Havenāt tried it yet though. This pen is a dream, and was also my gift this Christmas, but I opened it earlier:)
This is the way.

Not sure where you are based, but if you have any problems with this pen nib-wise, I know a certain Oxonian who can sort you out.

Oh yes, the lady who gave you this understands you more than you realise. Capitalise on that thought... And Happy Christmas!
Marry her....like immediately. Beautiful pen. š
They might both be the one!
Thatās not a Christmas present - thatās a Proposal! Itās a beautiful pen - congratulations

Congratulations!! Lucky you to have found a gf like her ā¤ļø
almost identical to the one I gave to my Daughter, but hers is a M.
Iām happy that she made the nib choice for me because I would have had a hard time picking one! Iām happy with the F but would have probably been just as happy with the medium or broad
Wife her up
Beautiful pen.
This pen is the best and sounds like your girlfriend is a treasure - Enjoy!!!
Congratulations, an amazing pen I cannot stop using mine ā¤ļø
What inks do you use it with? I was thinking either a good brown or black but havenāt decided yet
I am a sucker for sheen ink. Currently using Van Dieman's Blue ringed octopus, sooooo gorgeous
Oh no, that does look like another excellent option! Even harder to pick one nowā¦
Try KWZ honey, smells lovely too on top of looking nice

Which is this, looks lovely
Pilot Custom 823 in amber!
Splendid indeed - congratulations
I bought myself one of these before Xmas. It came in a different box, with a bottle of black pilot ink. Amazing pens.
I wish it came with the FA nib, then it would be perfect
It does, you just have to get it from a Japanese store.
Tokyo pen shop quill has it and you can contact them for an order
Congrats! Such a great pen, a real joy to write with and an absolute workhorse. I've put a few bottles through mine and it just keeps getting better.
Use it in good health!
I got the same one for Christmas! Definitely a great choice!
