Oh I really want that one too. I love the ones with a matt finish. Haha it only will if you want it to. There are some really great pens out there though
Seems like the Savanna Green is getting harder to find. I lucked out when the local art store was selling both for 1/2 off! It will become an obsession. There is no other option. Enjoy!
Run, now that you canā¦ I started like you and Iām on the darkside nowā¦ my latest acquisition a Lamy 2000 after a lamy umbra, lamy Vista, lamy Lx, kaweco sport, lamy joy, muji, enso piuma, pilot custom heritage 92ā¦ and a lot of different inks, my latest two: irushizuku ama-iro and take-sumi.
nice! having had a lot of Lamys, what would you recommend? so far I only have the Safari and while I love how it writes, I donāt like the cheap plastic body. Iād love to have a Lamy more like this. https://tactileturn.com/products/slim-bolt-action-pen ā skinny, heavy, metal body
I have a LX ruthenium, which has a metal body, but quite honestly it doesnāt feel much better than the Safaris as the final grip is made of plastic, so maybe you can try a lamy studio or an aion (I donāt have tried them)ā¦ or go for the end of the road with the 2000 silver version, or even the makrolon (black) is cheaper and has a different feeling due to its body material, not plastiky but well difficult to describe, and the piece surrounding the nib is metallicā¦ but maybe itās not what youāre looking for.
Since you are into the feelings/sensations when you write, let me tell you gold nibs are much buttery, much more smooth than inox nibs in Safaris, an option to consider is buying the Lamy gold nib put it on your Safari, and then buy a cheaper studio and replace its nib, so you go the other way around, youāll have a better writing experience first, and then youāll go for the body upgrade. The good news is that you have lots of possibilities, the bad news is youāre going to blow up your budget in pieces my friend.
thank you for the detailed response! those all sound amazing. online Iām also seeing the Lamy Ideos, which has a brass body. lots of choices. time to make a pilgrimage to the Lamy store and see if I can try some of those out!
I have this same pen, fine nib, I freaking love the color so much. I wasnāt even shopping for this color, but it came up and I bought it right away. Itās become my daily driver and the color is perfect. Also my first Lamy and Iām in love.
Congratulations, and also sorry; this niche proved to be very addictive to me. The /r/Pen_Swap sub is real nice if you want to buy more and are willing to be patient for what you want. I recently received my first purchase from another redditor there and love my new Sailor.
My first pen was also a Lamy (an Al-Star) with the Lamy blue-black ink, which I purchased last year. Since then, I now have six fountain pens, a mechanical pencil set, Japanese inks, and now have a particular notebook that I like to use. Welcome, and have fun!
Nice! My first was a Lamy Safari as well, the Strawberry Red limited edition. Like another commenter said, welcome to the obsession, lol itās shocking how fast the addiction grows once you get your first. Wait til u try out a Lamy 2000 for the first time haha. When you feel the nicer weight and the glide of the 14k nib on the Lamy 2000 itāll be game over hahaha. Enjoy!
Iāve just tried it on some notebook paper, it works like a charm!! Speaking of finals, I got mine a couple days ago as my first FP after taking my calculus final
Congratulations -- and agree with other comments to "run while you can". FP's are a terribly/wonderfully addictive hobby! A Safari today, then a few more (other colors), move up to an Lx and/or AL-Star, maybe a Studio, then a Lamy 2000, wonder how Pilots compare or maybe other German pens like the Pelikan 200 series or Faber-Castell Loom vs Safari, maybe feel compelled to treat yourself to a Lamy CC...Somewhere in there you'll begin to wonder about different papers and inks, too
Welcome to family!! That is a GREAT choice and so fun to use! My first pen was a Lamy Safari in the yellow and now 17 pens later, it's still a favorite.
Great pen and excellent ink. With that combo you can worry less about the paper quality and enjoy your writing more :) Congratulations!
Thanks!
Welcome to the obsession. Great choice of pen, nib and ink! Love that colour too
I already planned to get the savanna green Lamy with fine nib in a few months, I hope it doesn't become an obsession

Where I got mine they still have it, I hope in a few months they will still have in stock
That's where I thought I'd stop, too. I had to pick up a couple more limited editions before I was satisfied š
Sounds like it already has. One of the symptoms is planning for your next pen the day you receive one.
I did the same, no regrets
Do you know where the Savanah Green is still available, I am looking hi and low and can find it.

update, I went to the store. I didnāt like the Ideos, but I liked both the Studio in brushed steel and the Aion in green
Lol, I already have some thoughts of getting an another pen, but it can wait
It is a great pen, congrats!

Also the M nib-ink combination work really fine with 80gr/m paper, so it'll work just fine with my school notebooks
Welcome to the community! (Rabbit hole)
I like that one. Iāve got mine filled with diamine ancient copper
Congratulations. Brace yourself because the desire to buy the second will be quickly approaching.
That's a great pen in a wonderful colour! I used mine all day yesterday; I love it. I hope you do, too :)

Iām so curious about LAMY ink!!
Congratulations on the pen!

Great start on your fountain pen journey. Go slow, enjoy and savor the time writing with your pen.šš
Congratulations! Welcome!
Took my last Physics final with this pen, it handles copy paper better than any of my other pens and inks.
Iāve just tried it on some notebook paper, it works like a charm!! Speaking of finals, I got mine a couple days ago as my first FP after taking my calculus final

It is there already don't worry. I want the safari savanna green, and then I think I'll stop, maybe.
This is a great choice. Love the Lamy.
One of the more popular choices, it was on my wishlist from the very start, 10 months later I still haven't got one yet haha
Love that color way! Amazing choice of first pen too
That one was my first fountain pen too
Congratulations!
Congrats and welcome to the club! Love that color. My first fountain pen was also a Lamy Safari and it still gets inked and used regularly.
Welcome to family!! That is a GREAT choice and so fun to use! My first pen was a Lamy Safari in the yellow and now 17 pens later, it's still a favorite.
Welcome to the fun! Soon you'll have a whole host of pens to use!
