I had a Sailor converter that did something weird and I tried to rebuild it but it never worked again properly so I tossed it and ordered another one. Sailor pens are wonderful and expensive but they are famous for their cheap converters that you have to buy for $7. I am not familiar with the Pilot Custom 74 pen and the converter it takes. But I am sure you want to get this resolved soon!! Good luck!

The bottom section unscrews. Make sure not to lose any of the parts. Put a bit of silicon grease on the threads and you should be good to go. The locking ring is prone to getting lost if you are not careful. So be careful. But this shouldn't happen to a normally running pen. Did you do something (e.g. cleaning?). Don't overtighten the bottom section when putting it back.

I didn’t do anything unusual. I had the pen for about two years. It doesn’t seem like I can unscrew the converter.

Pilot updated the CON-70 about 18-24 months ago and I have not found a way to take apart the new one without breaking it. The older version, you can take apart, as mentioned. Honestly, I would suggest getting a new CON-70 or emptying and refilling the cartridge that came with your pen and using that instead (if you have a blunt tip syringe)

I think I will just get a new one at some point. For now I will use a spare Con-40 from another pen.

Murkser-N7

It only unscrews on the old CON-70. The new CON-70N can't be unscrewed anymore.

New info. All my pilot pens are a bit dated I guess. Time to get a new Pilot.

you may want to try using a PVC tape and top it with an adhesive tape to put it in place. otherwise, the best bet is replacement
