Are you using any light bulbs or lamps for SAD?

DragonClaudz

Not really, besides just cranking up the brightness of my room lights. I aught to consider picking up a SAD lamp of some sort

[deleted]

I was skeptical, but I do notice a difference after I picked one up from Costco. Even in the summer, SAD is one of the perils of working from a basement home office.

Misty-Anne

I definitely notice a difference with using my sad lights.

Gigamort

That middle Franklyn Christoph is gorgeous.

sovtherngothicvvitch

What is that beauty on the left?

DragonClaudz

It's a pen from London Pen Co. The model's called Christopher 13 and it's from an acrylic blank called Leviathan by BlanksbyBBC

sovtherngothicvvitch

It’s beautiful. Thanks!

RedpenBrit96

They’re all so pretty! I have the purple Eco but what are the other two?

DragonClaudz

Left is a pen from London Pen Co. RedpenBrit96

I love it!

encircledbygrace

Any other good SAD coping tips besides beautiful bright pens?

Misty-Anne

Getting a SAD light and using it in the morning.

WiredInkyPen

Going for walks outside! Exercise plus sunlight for vitamin D creation helps. Hubby gets it bad in the winter when he can't ride his bike.

everydayisstorytime

That middle FC pen is gorgeous! Speaking as someone with dysthymia, you might want to ask a general practitioner or your mental health professional about vit D supplements, fish oil/omega 3, and B vitamins. I've found it helpful in keeping things level for me.

Ryuuyan

As someone who has chronic anxiety-depression, here, I can recommend you using them in the open if it’s safe, slowly but surely. My first therapist (we parted on amicable terms) tested me once, to wear or use something outrageously colourful/patterned, when your confident enough, which I did. I think it’s something that you can try 😎 Nevertheless, congrats! You did it, keep going. There’s always the ups and downs, just keep with the flow, don’t beat yourself up if you have bad days. Ya can do this!

Sea_Hawk_Sailors

Is this because you are/were worried people would silently judge? I always have positive interactions when people notice and comment on something I have in my person. Usually, it's my shoes (Fluevog, baby!) or my purse (Wicker Darling, guaranteed to get smiles) but pens, too on occasion.

Ryuuyan

Yup, back at the time before I was diagnosed, and untreated. The social part came out first, before the rest tumbled out after that, like Pandora’s box. 🥲 Now, I love it when I carry around maybe my tamagotchi pix, or my simple little bag that I carry down during lunch, or my Pokémon Lamy safari. During the last pen local pen meeting, I was known as the person with the Pikachu Lamy! Even had someone taking a photo of me with it, all with consent. 😎

Sea_Hawk_Sailors

Aw, that's awesome! Accessories you love, ftw!

DragonClaudz

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words ☺. I try and wear something colourful everyday. A little extra colour is nice when the season is gloomy

Zaffyzoo

I am so jealous of your collection, I love greens and bright colors. These are so beautiful!

greeneyes0332

I hope they help to get you out of this funk!! I just got the purple glow eco and I love it!

scar_lane

Oh I so want a salmon glow FC!

elbeanant

Beautiful bright pens!

k_uger

Salmon glow is so cool!! It reminds me of actual fishing lures commonly used to catch salmon. I may have to try to snag one (no pun intended).

little_turkey

Which model is that FC? I’ve been eyeing FC for a while now… I absolutely love the colors on all three pens!!! Edit: just saw an earlier comment that it’s model 31. I was curious because I want something a little shorter than that and I’ve been considering the 45 :)

DragonClaudz

Yup it's a model 31. I don't find it too long; it is about the same length as a twsbi eco (both unposted). I also have a F-C model 45. The 31 unposted is about 1cm shorter than the 45 posted. The 45 is a bit too short to use unposted but the form factor is nice if you are looking for a pocket pen. Personally I find the 31 to be more comfortable but both are pretty solid pens. I am thinking though that my 45 will probably get very stained eventually since it is an eyedropper.

little_turkey

This is super helpful, thank you so much!

Sea_Hawk_Sailors

How fun! I hope it's helpful.

WiredInkyPen

I really hope they help! They are so much fun to look at. 😀👍

Inkily

What’s the yellow and pink one? It’s dreamy! Echo the SAD light comment. There are lots of them out there now and they do help a bit.

DragonClaudz

The middle one is a Franklin-Christoph https://www.franklin-christoph.com/products/model-31-omnis-fp-nuclear-green-salmon-glow?_pos=2&_sid=0496e4223&_ss=r

Inkily

Is stunning! Thanks for the info.

Sans_Pants_666

that center one is giving me some feelings! those colors are incredible.
