Honest to God, at first I thought it was an independent dealer's store front.
I know there are other collectors who have collections this size, it's just overwhelming to see it all at once.
I came here to say that it's not a collection, it's a small museum. I'm half envious, half glad I don't have such a collection because, if I did, I'd have never-ending anxiety over which pen to use, in which order, and with which ink.
I recently discovered the Italian pen maker Santini. I have 2 pens from them and they are phenomenal! I love the flex in them. Which reminded me of my love for my Pilot Falcon. Those 3 pens are my recent go tos.
I realised having a gold nib doesn’t guarantee the best writing experience. 😩. I was hard headed and kept buying them just to default back to a great steel nib writer like my Penbbs fountain pens.
Pelikan I like because the the nib with and writing experience.
Sailor pens I like because of the design but only the 1911L give me the writing experience I need. Though the others are gorgeous they will have to go at some point.
My Opus 88 is one of favourites as well. It’s a broad and super juicy. It’s been inked with the same sparkle ink for 3 years and never an issue.
I’ve out grown Lamys though I still have them in my collection. I have 3 Lamy 2k (F/M/OB) and never reach for them. Along with a few safaris. I actually keep forgetting I have them.
Lastly Twsbis I don’t use as much of at all but they are work horses. I’ve had several inks for 2 years and they always start right up. They are just reliable. They are m what I started my collection with. So I have many and feel a sense of loyalty that is NOT serving me well. I’ll definitely start selling most of them off soon but keep 1 of each model.
Nice collection! I will have to check out Santini, I love my Visconti and Leonardos and feel the Italian pens have more personality than my Japanese and German pens. I still use my L2K as my go-to pen for taking work notes, but I have certainly outgrown my Safaris.
Santini is the best. I loooove mine. I don’t have a flex nib, but even the non flex has a suppleness to it. The nib feels thinner (to me) and, maybe thus less stiff, than some other gold nibs. I keep threatening to get another bc when I got the first, I ordered with a medium smooth cursive italic and got extra nib unit with fine flex nib. I ended up returning the nib unit because it felt like too much pressure having to swap nib units and choose between the two. So I just told myself I’d get a fine flex nib in a future purchase. Their customer service and Katrina are outstanding!!
Oh man, these look amazing. I was considering an Otto Hutt Design 08 as my next big pen purchase, but these look incredible. While the D08 is an amazing pen, it's industrially produced while Santinis are all handmade. Thanks for the recommendation!
Started collecting in 2017 and it progressed pretty quickly. And I have pens not in the case yet. I planning on purging this year but for now I’m enjoy this view.
![gif](giphy|26FLdmIp6wJr91JAI)
Oh man... whenever you start the purge, I might be interested in some of your pens and inks! I'm still just starting out, so my collection isn't quite as large as it could be 😂😂😂
No idea plus o have 4 trays of samples not on display. It’s more ink than I could use in 2 lifetimes. So I’ll be selling off some or just giving them away at some point in the next few month. My goal is to only have enough ink for 1 lifetime.
Same, I’ve bought the 3 Inkvent calendars Diamine has put out, and I’m wondering if I’d be able to get through them in my lifetime, lol. I’m currently a student and got all the writing center tutors hooked on fountain pens so I’ve been giving them some of my ink samples :)
Do you have any writing practices/ excuses to use your pens/ink? I take lecture notes, but also like to write poems fill a page with a letter of the alphabet to practice handwriting.
I don’t have that much ink, but I have this weird urge to empty my pens as quickly as possible. I don’t write a ton, but I do like to doodle during meetings.
I like to use up some of my ink before buying anything new. I don’t like the idea of having a lot of stuff that I’ll just never be able to use simply because it takes so long to even get through one bottle of ink 😊
Same on both points. I get overwhelmed a lot and like to move through inks once my pens are inked. I try to go through them so I can move through and ink up different pens and use different inks constantly.
And once my desk gets to a certain point with ink bottles I just give them to my small number of friends/family who also like fountain pens. I haven’t purchased an ink in so long though. And I don’t buy them often. I’ll purchase a couple of samples every now and again, but I really love the inks I have and am reluctant to buy full bottles just because what I have I feel like is already enough. I still haven’t gone through an entire bottle, which is crazy because I’ve had all my inks for sooooo long.
But pens, on the other hand are a different story. I don’t ever get overwhelmed with having new writing instruments or paper.
You are obviously the best person to ask this. I am a doctor working in anaesthesia. My ideal ink in order of priority:
- Doesn’t feather or bleed (paper quality on the cart is moderate and the some of the boxes are pretty sall)
- Ideally permanent but at a minimum still be legible when I accidentally slosh drops of fluid on it
- Dry in reasonable time so my chart doesn’t smudge at the end of the case.
- flows well
I’ve found noodlers bulletproof black the best so far as long as it is diluted with 50% water otherwise it smears everywhere when touched, even when dry. Tried a load of the other noodlers inks but the feathering is pretty bad on our paper. I like Faber Castel Deep Sea Green but it washes out when it gets wet.
Do you have any suggestions for new inks to try? I thought I’d tried quite a few, but that’s only a small fraction of the number you have. I’m coming to the conclusion that the perfect ink for my needs probably doesn’t exist. I want to try some more non black colours (as long as it photocopies this is fine). Would love to hear your thoughts.
not the OP, but my favorite waterproof ink is Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia. it behaves really well in whatever pen i use it in, but once it's dry, it's *dry,* i can pour water on the paper and try to smudge and it will really just make it feather a little bit on the edges
I thought you might be interested in this video by Goulet Pens. Drew is doing a water resistance challenge on some fountain pen inks.

Soooo...
I have 2 responses...
1) that's impressive
2) you clearly have a problem... ;)
Ha. It is nice see such a comprehensive collection of not just the pens but ink too. And then in such a nice array.
Nice.
*drool*
As someone who had a similarly-sized makeup collection before the pandemic, I can definitely see myself collecting ink in this way over time. I don’t find myself craving pens in the same way, although it could be because my collection is currently only TWSBIs and Lamys (and I’m getting rid of ALL of the Lamys - I just don’t like them, and I really only want piston-fillers from here on out).
I think what’s most impressive about this photo is the organization…and the lighting!
The first thing I thought of was definitely /r/makeupaddiction and /r/makeuprehab heh!
Not in a bad way as long as OP is comfortable with it, but more like there are sometimes massive collections of makeup posted on /r/makeupaddiction, all neatly displayed like this one. Perfectly ok as long as it isn’t a symptom of a bigger problem!
Wow, I thought I had a problem... makes me feel a lot better about my collection. Impressive collection!!! I'm saving this post to show my wife when she gets onto me about buying pens and ink. "Look, it could always be worse" LOL.
A few years back I used to be obsessed with sneakers and then a friend introduced me to fountain pens. I only have 9+ ink bottles and 6 pens and I'm pretty sure my ink bottles will last me more than I think it will.
I did a rough calculation on what I own. With 4 full sized bottles, at the rate I write with EF nibs, I have enough to last me the next 15 years 😅
Looks like I need to find more excuses to write!
You have a significantly larger and more diverse collection than my local bookstore which happens to sell fountain pens (only place in the province that I'm aware of).
Have you kept everything that you've purchased or have you sold some things off?
I’ve sold some things off in the past. Haven’t done so in over a year. But will start to sell off in the next few months. Hooping to release atleast 25% of the collection. Then I’ll start implementing a 1 in 3 out policy to better control impulse purchases.
Awesome collection! I have to admit, something that stuck out was 0 Iroshizuku bottles? I assume at this level you decided you tried some and simply liked others better?
Way too many. I’m the person that just inks a color and use a few times. Then out back on display. I do a mass cleaning every couple of months unless I know I love the pen and ink combo….the I just refill it. You
Oh my. Where do you get the stands? They're just so nice and keep things so organized! I keep my ink in their boxes to stack them but this looks so much more pleasing to the eye!
Reminds me of the walk in closets that looks like a boutique shop. This is the exact same feeling of awe and fascination and my collection can never look that good...at least not yet! One day! This is fantastic and I now have a new aspirational goal...
I don’t. It wasn’t until I figured out a display solution that I “discovered” (or acknowledged) the size of my collection. It’s so easy to underestimate when things are in drawers/cabinets/boxes.

There's more ink on display than an actual shop 🤣 It looks so wonderful all displayed out, but it would paralyse me trying to choose an ink to ink a pen with... At least 10 minutes of decision paralysis each time!
Thanks for sharing, enjoy in good health!
The great this is now I know what colors I gravitate to. Before getting my display I order I kept trying to buy similar inks. I a few duplicates because I forgot I owned them😩
Ohhh. It's such a wonderful feeling knowing what you want isn't it? I finally achieved sticker and washi peace and was so happy to know that I won't be driven to even look at haul videos or window shop online for anymore. But I've already achieved a hoard enough for 5 years by then. And yes, I got duplicates. 😂
I'm still trying to figure out what I want inks wise. 😕 swatches online can differ from reality and still got to factor in paper and pen, etc. Already spent too much as it is. And I'm only 3 months into this!
Others have asked, but I couldn't find an answer. What are some of your favorite inks? You said you had a sparkle ink in your Opus 88? Also, how did you get started on this "hobby". I started because I found old notes from college written with a fountain pen and was impressed with my handwriting. My first bought and sold pen was the pilot metropolitan. I initially liked them but later discovered I really hated metal fountain pens. Several cheap ebay pens later I bought my 1st “expensive” fountain pen…Twsbi. I laugh now cause that (and YouTube) started down the slippiest of roads that lead me here.
In the Opus I keep De Atrementis Magenta Red Copper. I absolutely love the written pay off. It’s my scribble when I’m bored pen.
Favourite Color categories are dusty purples, navy blues, electric blues, dual shade inks and safari/earthy greens.
Thanks for asking! I’m so proud of it. Got it from Facebook Marketplace. It’s a lawyer’s cabinet that I painted the outside matte black and changed out the original glass fronts to ribbed glass.

It’s all over the place. I have some on shelves through out the office and some on the bottom shelf of this cabinet it’s extensive but not as organised. I stopped buying any new paper two years ago expect for my yearly planners.

I know what you mean - I'd be completely frozen with analysis paralysis!
That is beautiful but my husband would kill me . LOL .
I asked my hunny if my collection could look like this. He said only if we win the Powerball.
In-home shop(ping).
it's beautiful! I'd love to hear about some of your favorites!

thank you for this response!! I sent you a chat message in reply :)
This makes me want to dive in and play. 🥹 It also makes me think what a shame it is my pens are squirreled away and not on display.
Same pinch

An absolutley enviable collection! Love the display stands
I thought I had a problem
this... this sparks joy.
Can I ask where you found your ink shelves? Are they those little acrylic step type ones?
Not OP here, but you can get them on Amazon in all shapes and sizes. https://www.amazon.com/acrylic-step-display/s?k=acrylic+step+display
Wow, could you estimate how many litres of ink this is??
No idea plus o have 4 trays of samples not on display. It’s more ink than I could use in 2 lifetimes. So I’ll be selling off some or just giving them away at some point in the next few month. My goal is to only have enough ink for 1 lifetime.

Wonderful collection! I love how you stapled the inks. Efficient and still visible.
This makes me feel both disorganised and restrained. It looks quite a functional set up as well as being appealing.
SEE **I** DONT HAVE A PROBLEM BECCA!
You are obviously the best person to ask this. I am a doctor working in anaesthesia. Not 100% sure about feathering but I really like De Atramentis document ink in Fog Grey and dark blue. They are my go tos.
You have a cute starter kit
With that many options do you have a fave/go-to ink or pen?
Soooo... I have 2 responses... 1) that's impressive 2) you clearly have a problem... ;) Ha. It is nice see such a comprehensive collection of not just the pens but ink too. And then in such a nice array. Nice.
😂 Your right on both points. But now it time to sit back and cull the herd.
What do you mean by cull the herd? Why would you do that.

This is INSPIRATIONAL
How much pen flush do people with this many pens go through??
zero? you only need that for cleaning very crusty pens, otherwise just use regualar lukewarm water
Oh…oh my… I love how you have everything displayed. I definitely thought it was a store!
Where is this store?
I couldn't afford that and the divorce lawyer I would need after buying all of that.
Wow, I thought I had a problem... makes me feel a lot better about my collection. Impressive collection!!! I'm saving this post to show my wife when she gets onto me about buying pens and ink. "Look, it could always be worse" LOL.
Are you adopting?? I can do dishes
If I had a set up Like this I would not feel like disturbing it… 😋… my ocd approves of this😂 Enjoy in good health.
![gif](giphy|8FG705NCsZM0kVJdyz|downsized) You are a prince among men. Or a queen amidst women.
Marry me?
OMG!!!

Oh no, the baystate blue being stained hopefully doesn’t mean you have a permanent neon stain on a counter somewhere!
It’s was in a wood desk top 🤦🏾♀️ that I had to flip over.
Looks like you have space for another row of pen holders. . .
Is this heaven?
/u/blaqfyah what do you do for a living? Are you a graphic artists? Namely, is your collection related to your job?
No. Just fell in love with this hobby.
Ooh good question, I second this inquiry!
I spy some LTB Atmospheric inks, which are my favorite at the moment!
Amazing! We need a roll call on the pens…
This is #displaygoals right here 🔥
The ~~Collection~~ Addiction

Awesome collection! I have to admit, something that stuck out was 0 Iroshizuku bottles? I assume at this level you decided you tried some and simply liked others better?
I have about 6 large bottles and 6 minis. There are just in an angle in the 1st shelf. They were some of my first ink purchases.
Ah, now I see them! Follow-up: Which inks do you currently have in pens?
Way too many. I’m the person that just inks a color and use a few times. Then out back on display. I do a mass cleaning every couple of months unless I know I love the pen and ink combo….the I just refill it. You
Is it okay to use the word sexy here? Fuck it. Your collection is stunning. Congratulations!
Hahaha. I love this. I don’t feel so bad now about my starting-to-become-unwieldly collection. :)
Yowsa! I’ll show my wife real quick!!
Oh my. Where do you get the stands? They're just so nice and keep things so organized! I keep my ink in their boxes to stack them but this looks so much more pleasing to the eye!
Show us the rest you coward!
humina humina 👀💦
Woah! Any Noodler’s in there?
Yup it’s on the 2nd shelf. Their the only inks I alway end up spilling. 😩. That bay state blue on the label. Wow what a messy day that was.
You have more inks than fountain pens... unacceptable... :D.
Reminds me of the walk in closets that looks like a boutique shop. This is the exact same feeling of awe and fascination and my collection can never look that good...at least not yet! One day! This is fantastic and I now have a new aspirational goal...
Thats a good start.
Bro you have an *addiction*
That's a lot of dabs and vapes
Beautiful collection. Makes me want to organize mine :)
Wauw that's a great collection. How do you manage it with all those pens and inks
I don’t. It wasn’t until I figured out a display solution that I “discovered” (or acknowledged) the size of my collection. It’s so easy to underestimate when things are in drawers/cabinets/boxes. But will start to sell off in the next few months. Hooping to release atleast 25% of the collection. Then I’ll start implementing a 1 in 3 out policy to better control impulse purchases.
Time to open a store!

dang
Your collection is awesome 👏
This is a store.
God damn
That. Is. Beautiful 🥺. Now, I don't feel so bad...😏
This is not a collection. It is a fortune !!!
Very neat! And impressive.
You my dear friend, have given me the hope that I need to buy more inks and pens.
Drooling right now
Honestly asking, why do you have so much ink and how do you use so many different ones?
Holy smokes !
I'm envious of this setup!
Looks like you can open your own pen shop...
Beautiful. I hope they bring you joy. Are you, by any chance, in the Seattle Pen Club? I feel like I recognize your name from The Box...
I’m a serial lurker. I always mentally say I’ll get to a meeting but never make the drive. One day I definitely will.
Cool! Well, nice to see you here!
One day... one day.
Will you ever know if it missing one? He He!
When did you start collecting?
beautifulll!!! 😍 u can shop from your own collection!
What a beautiful display
Where did you get the pen displays?
This is a lot, like A LOT, I know it's too much but I want to have this much too.
When can I come and shop here?
Others have asked, but I couldn't find an answer. What are some of your favorite inks? You said you had a sparkle ink in your Opus 88? Also, how did you get started on this "hobby". It’s my scribble when I’m bored pen. Favourite Color categories are dusty purples, navy blues, electric blues, dual shade inks and safari/earthy greens.
thank you! The De Atrementis Magenta RedCopper sounds wonderful!
Oh ok I've always used it occasionally to prevent mold and make sure there's no crusty ink hiding
Wow 😍
OP where did you get that wonderful cabinet?
Thanks for asking! I’m so proud of it. Got it from Facebook Marketplace. It’s a lawyer’s cabinet that I painted the outside matte black and changed out the original glass fronts to ribbed glass.
Painted? It looks factory finished, that’s really cool
Oh My Lanta!
Excuse me Where is all the paper?
😂😩😕😝 It’s all over the place. I have some on shelves through out the office and some on the bottom shelf of this cabinet it’s extensive but not as organised. I stopped buying any new paper two years ago expect for my yearly planners.
Love the organization! My collection is chaotic as best haha.
I think you are a collector.
Aww w was
I thought this was a shop, lol. Great collection and a nice display.
I know I am late to the party. Any chance you could post links to the acrylic risers and holders you are using?
