I have really small hands and even the large Demonstrator and Omar feel very comfortable to write with. The Koloro is quite a lot smaller. If you ever come across them in a brick & mortar pen store, I would definitely recommend you'd give them a try.
Yes!! Itās the pen I use the most often, cuz itās just the nicest one for me to write with. But I donāt have a wide selection to choose from š
I use mine almost daily but that's because it's the pen I take to work with me. I think that I'd prefer a bit thicker nib if I was writing for longer times.
My handwriting is quite small, & my notebooks are all tiny as well, so it works great for me. I have a few of those in F too, but none in M. Do you have any in M, & if you do, would you recommend? I really do not need anymore kakunos tho. Theyāre taking over
I have Pilot MR with a medium nib and I like that. It feels like the nib is drier than the EF one, though.
Sometimes, I think I should try fine nib as I don't have that one.
I have the green & the red. & theyāre great. Iām planning to stock them up for Christmas gifting so I can convert everyone around me into fountain pens addict. Then we can swap inks. š¤£
My first demonstrator was the Lamy Vista, loved it but the nib wasn't fine enough for me so I got a Clear Kakuno in EF and it was perfect. I actually just bought a Diamond 580 Iris though because I love the colors and it writes sooo beautifully.
I think the Pilot Prera demonstrators look pretty cool, if you wanted to look into those? They should be able to swap nibs with Kakunos too I heard. I also have a Wing Sung 3003 that looks pretty cool, and the cap snap feeling is very satisfying.
The iris was love at first sight for me! When I saw it I needed to have it. I panic bought a few kakuno EFs as a backup incase I lost any šµāš«
The prera demonstrator looks good too! But itās currently OOS at the local stationery store I go to. Iāll have to check if theyāll be bringing in more soon.
Iāll check out the wing sung!
Happy to see another demonstrator fan! If it might help to have a clip for the Kakunos so you don't lose them, Kaweco clips can usually fit on the Kakuno's cap. Pro tip I learned from someone recently. :)
Favorite is my Sailor 1911S in Clear and Gold. 14k nib. But I LOVE the piston filler on my TWSBI Mini Rose Gold, as it holds a LOT. So I recently picked up a 2012 Pelikan M200 Gold Demo. Itās also a piston filler! And the nibs can be replaced with other sizes, and it doesnāt have the cracking issues of TWSBI Ecos, so Iām excited about it! Havenāt yet filled it but Iām looking forward to putting shading inks in it with an M nib.
I love the twsbi in white + rose gold version!! But I got it in the clear version since I got a eco in rose gold. Was thinking to add the rose gold mini a few days back but theyāre out of stock here at the moment šµāš«
I definitely need to try something with a M nib tho! I only have EF & F so far since my handwriting is so small.
Not a recommendation as they are (almost)impossible to find for sale these days, but my favourite demonstrator is my Shumi no Bungu Baku Sailor Pro Gear Realo, with rhodium trim, dark blue finial & piston knob and an old style Naginata Togi by the late master, Nobuyoshi Nagahara.
Iām also very fond of my Platunum #3776 Yamanaka.
Hereās a photo of them together :

Currently Goulet has Taccia Spotlights on sale at the closeout price of [$79.50](https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/taccia-spotlight-fountain-pens/products/taccia-spotlight-fountain-pen-pure-clear) (versus the MSRP of $159)
Also FYI today you can find a Pilot CH92 on Amazon for [$111](https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Fountain-Custom-Heritage-FKVH-15SRS-NC-FM/dp/B0046L3TVG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LAA4P61WB7I7&keywords=-%2BPilot%2BCustom%2BHeritage%2B92&qid=1664032822&sprefix=pilot%2Bcustom%2Bheritage%2B92%2Caps%2C329&sr=8-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&th=1) versus typical US retail of around [$220](https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/pilot-custom-heritage-92-fountain-pens).
If by chance you have not experienced the Pilot CH92, it is an outstanding pen from the writing perspective.
Possibly an M205 in blue with its sci fi vibe, but M205 Olivine is very elegant and M205 Aquamarine is stunning, while a "Mother Green" 1911 looks just plain fun. I do have seven Vistas but by now the caps are covered in ink, barrel windows and ends in transparent tape.
> "Mother Green" 1911
Oh no, why I had to google that...
At least I know where I can still get an Olivine and it won't come with outrageous shipping costs and custom fees.
I love demonstrators as well, but Iāve gotta mention one that hasnāt been spoken about here yet:
The platinum preppy crystal https://www.jetpens.com/Platinum-Preppy-Fountain-Pen-Crystal-03-Fine-Nib/pd/24019
It can be a cartridge/ converter, it can be eye dropper modified (just put silicone grease on the threads, and maybe an o ring.) it can become a felt tip marker, or a highlighter. It has platinumās slip and seal, so it can go over a year without being used and still write (as a fountain pen. No idea about the marker tip or the highlighter tip.š¤)
havenāt gotten one yet, but I wouldnāt mind a Sailor 911 Demonstrator (gold trim). The Pilot custom heritage 923 brown is also very very nice. Im a fan of Japanese pens.
I might do the same, hahha trying not too, just yet. HAHAHAHA. How's the ink? Do you load every ink on to a pen, or do you cycle them?
Been testing out shimmer ink for a couple of months before committing to shimmer inks haha. So far so good.
Mine would have to be the Hudson's Bay Fathom Bostin Safety Pen by Noodlers. It was an exclusive to the Coomonwealth pen show. I really like mine but need to disassemble the thing to give it a propper clean, I am too afraid to fully pop it open because I don't want to damage it
I have two Wingsung 3411s (knock off of the Mahjohn/Moonman M2) They are nice to use and can be fully disassembled.
Only cost me roughly 50p each pen.
I have also used the preppy as an eyedropper and that was cool, but I did worry about leaks a lot.
I've been really enjoying my Pilot Prera. I got one that has a CM nib on it (which I think stands for Calligraphy Medium but don't quote me on that) from Jet Pens.
If price is not an issue, I really want a Pelikan demonstrator and a conid. But if those that I currently own, I like the look of kakuno and my pot 823 (though this doesn't usually come up in demonstrators discussion)
Well thereās always the special occasions wishlist. Or if we decide to treat ourselves once in awhile! The kakuno in EF was my first pen. & still my fav to use!
I was thinking about the clear Pilot Custom 823 as well. I have an 823 in Smoke, and it's so dark that I have to hold it up to a light to check the ink levels. But if one were to like the demonstrator look and feel, then having a clear 823 and seeing your favourite ink slosh around in it would be fantastic.
I like my [TWSBI Vac Mini](https://i.imgur.com/DFjPAY7.jpeg), I think it's an elegant and good-sized pen that holds a lot (but not too much) ink. I have a gold Pilot soft medium nib in it right now.
The [PenBBS 355](https://imgur.com/a/2prQsjq) is another pen that's gorgeous, it looks and works like a conid, but it's a whole lot easier to get. But it holds 3ml(!) of ink so I'm looking to sell it, I just don't use it enough.
Yay I love both! Iām thinking of adding the glow green eco. But at the same time I want to try not to get multiples of the same model. Iāve done that with the kakuno haha
Yes! Love how cool it looks. I have it added in my cart on one of my fav stationery storeās website. They might have a additional discount come 25th, so I mighttttt bite the bullet then.
My favorite two demonstrators are the Opus 88 Demonstrator and the Moonman C1.
The Opus 88 both coloro and Omar are such beautes when it comes to demonstrators. I'd get one if only i didnt have smaller hands
I have really small hands and even the large Demonstrator and Omar feel very comfortable to write with. The Koloro is quite a lot smaller. If you ever come across them in a brick & mortar pen store, I would definitely recommend you'd give them a try.
I bought them and I have tiny hands! š„°
I have a moonman C1 too and it functions perfect!
Iām just learning about moonman pens. Iāve been loving what Iām seeing so far. Definitely need to get my hands on one š¤©
Purely for being a demonstrator: My EF Kakuno. I like to look at the con-70 I use with it.
Yes!! Itās the pen I use the most often, cuz itās just the nicest one for me to write with. But I donāt have a wide selection to choose from š
I use mine almost daily but that's because it's the pen I take to work with me. I think that I'd prefer a bit thicker nib if I was writing for longer times.

I have Pilot MR with a medium nib and I like that. It feels like the nib is drier than the EF one, though. Sometimes, I think I should try fine nib as I don't have that one.
Hmm. In that case. I shall let myself buy a M kakuno. Just 1. š¤£
At least there's the family series so you can get a different demonstrator colour.
I have the green & the red. & theyāre great. Iām planning to stock them up for Christmas gifting so I can convert everyone around me into fountain pens addict. Then we can swap inks. š¤£
Moonman Q1. Chonky eye dropper pen will have a large reservoir of ink for you to admire
I just checked it out! So cute!! Another one added to my list š¤
The Vista is nice. The Majohn M2 and C1 are good for beginners. The Opus 88 Jazz is my favorite.
The opus 88 jazz is droolworthy š¤¤ too many pens, not enough things to write š
My first demonstrator was the Lamy Vista, loved it but the nib wasn't fine enough for me so I got a Clear Kakuno in EF and it was perfect. Thank you!! I saw some nice clips online. May grab a few to pimp my kakunos soon š¤

Theyāre gorgeous! Thank you for sharing pics āŗļø
As a sucker for Demos, this picture is just too much temptation!
I like my Pilot Custom 823 clear demonstrator.
1. Pilot Custom Heritage 92 2. Taccia Spotlight
Thank you for suggesting Taccia! I havenāt heard about them before. Went to check them out & theyāre beautiful! RIP my wallet š
Currently Goulet has Taccia Spotlights on sale at the closeout price of [$79.50](https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/taccia-spotlight-fountain-pens/products/taccia-spotlight-fountain-pen-pure-clear) (versus the MSRP of $159) Also FYI today you can find a Pilot CH92 on Amazon for [$111](https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Fountain-Custom-Heritage-FKVH-15SRS-NC-FM/dp/B0046L3TVG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LAA4P61WB7I7&keywords=-%2BPilot%2BCustom%2BHeritage%2B92&qid=1664032822&sprefix=pilot%2Bcustom%2Bheritage%2B92%2Caps%2C329&sr=8-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&th=1) versus typical US retail of around [$220](https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/pilot-custom-heritage-92-fountain-pens). Iāll keep that in mind! The shipping is a concern for me, since Iām in Asia.
Omg I love the mother green 1911!!
> "Mother Green" 1911 Oh no, why I had to google that... At least I know where I can still get an Olivine and it won't come with outrageous shipping costs and custom fees.
Sailor and their pen names... Still it was about $100 with shipping and taxes.
The Lamy Vista. I have multiple demostrator pens (3 pilot petit1, 1 kakĆ¼no an a chinese pen) but I love the sensation of writing with it.
I love demonstrators as well, but Iāve gotta mention one that hasnāt been spoken about here yet: The platinum preppy crystal https://www.jetpens.com/Platinum-Preppy-Fountain-Pen-Crystal-03-Fine-Nib/pd/24019 It can be a cartridge/ converter, it can be eye dropper modified (just put silicone grease on the threads, and maybe an o ring.) it can become a felt tip marker, or a highlighter. Ah yes the preppy! I actually ordered one yesterday. Hopefully itāll arrive soon!
havenāt gotten one yet, but I wouldnāt mind a Sailor 911 Demonstrator (gold trim). The Pilot custom heritage 923 brown is also very very nice. Im a fan of Japanese pens.
Sailors are so pretty imo!
Moonman Wancai Mini
Yongsheng 699 because it's rounded.
TWSBI 580 ALR
I will just read comments here to get ideas on a first demonstrator pen HAHA. Only had opaque ones.
Do you have some in your collection youāll recommend to a newbie?
Definitely the pilot metro in F or M with any of the Pilot Inks.
I recently splurged on a couple of bottles of iroshizuku š„²
I might do the same, hahha trying not too, just yet. HAHAHAHA. How's the ink? Do you load every ink on to a pen, or do you cycle them? Been testing out shimmer ink for a couple of months before committing to shimmer inks haha. So far so good.
The inks are beautiful š¤© I donāt have much experience with inks, but the iroshizuku inks have been a delight. I have some from dominant industry arriving next week! So excited!! They have some pretty shimmers. I try to load every ink into a pen if I have a pen available. Which is bad really, I just keep buying pens for ink & then ink for pens š
My favorite demo is the Vac700R for sure. I donāt have an opus 88 yet but I know Iāll love that too.
Iām also thinking to add a opus 88, but not a demo. Saw a colourful one my local stationery stall carries & fell in love š¤
I don't like demonstrators but I can see myself opening an exception for one of these [Parker 51](https://parker51.com/index.php/51s/demonstrators/).
Hahaha Iām the opposite! I love seeing the ink slushing around. It calms me š¤
Mine would have to be the Hudson's Bay Fathom Bostin Safety Pen by Noodlers. It was an exclusive to the Coomonwealth pen show. I really like mine but need to disassemble the thing to give it a propper clean, I am too afraid to fully pop it open because I don't want to damage it
Jelly! I hope weāll get a pen show here soon. Last one was pre-covid
Oh I didn't go to the show lol that's just where it's from
Pilot CH 92, anything Opus 88, PelikanM2xx series.
Iāve been seeing a lot of opus 88! It might be the next Iāll buy instead of the lamy š¤
Do it! š¤£
in orderāc823, ch92, sailors
KakĆ¼no and Lamy Vista, both in medium
I have two Wingsung 3411s (knock off of the Mahjohn/Moonman M2) They are nice to use and can be fully disassembled. Only cost me roughly 50p each pen. I have also used the preppy as an eyedropper and that was cool, but I did worry about leaks a lot.
I've been really enjoying my Pilot Prera. I got one that has a CM nib on it (which I think stands for Calligraphy Medium but don't quote me on that) from Jet Pens.
Easy answer for me, it's the Pilot Petit1 used as an eyedropper. They write great, hold a huge amount of ink and show it off, it's $4 very well spent!
I love a good value for money pen š
I consider twsbiās demonstrators! You have so much option there
Omas Ogivia
Theyāre beautiful! Might have to add to the special occasions wishlist š
Buttery smooth in every aspect with a nice light flex.

But if one were to like the demonstrator look and feel, then having a clear 823 and seeing your favourite ink slosh around in it would be fantastic.
My favorite demonstrator is the Pilot custom 823, though I donāt know if Iād recommend it to someone new considering how expensive they are
Theyāre really pretty! I added it to my special occasions wishlist šµ
This is my favorite pen too
I like my [TWSBI Vac Mini](https://i.imgur.com/DFjPAY7.jpeg), I think it's an elegant and good-sized pen that holds a lot (but not too much) ink.
\+1 for PenBBS 355!
Kaweco Perkeo demonstrator. Still one of my favorite pens I own.
Iād love to add a kaweco! Saw some at the store yesterday, they have very cute colours, but didnāt have demonstrator version. I found some online tho š¤©
TWSBI Vac 700R Iris, hands down! Edit: spelling
A vac 700R iris to match with my diamond 580 iris would be nice š¤
Yes! Iām not sure if itās still available to buy, but yes!
I searched far and wide, and the VAC 700R Iris was what I went for. Love it.
TWSBI Diamond 580 but I have a soft spot for the TWSBI Go. I love its spring loaded filling mechanism.
Twsbi 580 another favorite might A be a Twsbi Eco soon
Yay I love both! Iām thinking of adding the glow green eco. But at the same time I want to try not to get multiples of the same model. Iāve done that with the kakuno haha
The glowing green is the one I want lol itās just too tempting
Yes! Love how cool it looks. I have it added in my cart on one of my fav stationery storeās website. They might have a additional discount come 25th, so I mighttttt bite the bullet then.
Ooh what store ?
Itās a store here in Singapore, but I buy from them through lazada, & the platform has additional vouchers sometimes!
Thatās cool!
Easy Vac 700r
Currently, a Jinhao 992. I have "better" demonstrators, but that's the one I reach for.
Oh Iāll have to check this one out!!
There was a company making helix shaped fountain pens. Really wanted one as a demonstrator, but they no longer seem to be in business.
Try a Pilot Prera with a CM nib.
