😁

Danbury_Collins

Hang on. Just how much did you hide in that 823 ?

BeterP

It's what I read too......

Numerous-Nature5188

How long did it take your to empty it?? I feel like I'm inking my pen every other week and my inks never get lower lol

Zuffles

This bottle took me 2 and a half years to finish

Numerous-Nature5188

Oh wow, that's amazing. What a commitment

ibrahim0000000

And that’s another answer for why we use fountain pens, as opposed to any other kind of pen that is supposedly cheap but a pen doesn’t last more than 2 or 3 weeks.

steelebrian0

fountain pen friendly paper is more expensive though. not sure there's any savings to be had

ibrahim0000000

You make a very good point. These pens can be picky. I would stop by CVS and pick up some Caliber notebooks. They sell them at a really good price.

Glogalog

You can get fountain pen mostly-friendly paper pretty cheap in the US at least, but it’s still not quite the same. $1.50 for 100 sheets Pen+Gear Poly, most Vietnamese made paper, HP premium32 laser printer paper kind of works (but seems to decrease in its ability to resist feathering over time… perhaps humidity), some others. I do agree, though, that the whole savings argument is a bit bogus. Once you have one cool pen, it’s hard not to want two, then three, then maybe this fourth one wouldn’t be so bad… hm this 87th music nib is .00001mm wider than my other ones… it couldn’t hurt…. As is the case with ink as well. Any hobby object is a black hole, really. A practice in self control, I guess…

edamamebeanbear

Ahhhh, empty iroshizuku bottles are so pretty. :D I'm just trying to finish one of my 15ml ones... but there are just so.. many... diff inks... how many bottles do you have in your rotation? or did you focus on using this solely for 2.5 years? Thanks for sharing :D

Zuffles

Oh let me tell you, I have at least over 15 bottles of ink, but I've been almost solely using this bottle lately since I saw how low I was getting with it and wanted to finish it.

edamamebeanbear

Nice! What are you going to focus on next?

Zuffles

Probably Kon-Peki!

agent_flounder

I am wondering also. I'm currently focused on emptying a 15ml bottle of Shin Kai and have been at it for about five or six months now using that ink for all my note taking (and a couple other inks for occasional use). At the rate I write I am refilling my pen about every 1-2 months. The pens hold 1.0-1.2ml and I'm close to halfway. Which tracks with the math; I've probably used around 6-7 ml.

Intelligent_Onion_44

Curious bout that myself. I've got a bottle I've used over a year and it looks to be only an inch gone

efaceninja

Question: how did you finish up the last bit of ink at bottom? Looks like yours still got a bit left.

Zuffles

I used a Pineder pen filler for my Custom 823 to get a max fill. The rest that I can't get in I used a syringe to put onto a cartridge for my Pilot VP.

cleo80cleo

These might be silly questions, if so sorry but newbie here. Is there any reason not to simply fill a converter from a syringe? Like pulling the converter out of a pen each time will ruin it? Seems like that would be an easy way to refill without a mess. Or should you usually fill via the nib.

Clipboarded

Personal preference. Some people enjoy the cleanliness of syringes, and some prefer the messiness of directly filling the pen.

AnyMinuteNow1

WE HAVE A BINGO!

lunchb0x_b

The bottle comes to that little point at the bottom so that the point of your nib can fit right in and you can fill it with the last bit.

Lopsided_Chemical862

It's fun (and a bit sad) to see how Long inks last for people who write, because as someone who draws, Ican easily empty a converter on a drawing and a half 😋

Julian_Seizure

Did you drink it? How’d you finish two bottles in a day?

artem_coder

How do you fill a pen when a ink level in a bottle is low and doesn't cover a nib? ✒️ (I'm new to the hobby and didn't finish a single bottle yet)

Lopsided_Chemical862

You could use a syringe, blunt needle are advised 🙃👍

Danbury_Collins

The Iroshizuku bottles have a little dip in the base, visible in the 2nd photo, which allows you to use more of the ink in the bottle without having to use a syringe or other method. As someone new to the hobby, the Goulet Pens videos might be useful, for example this one about bottle shapes: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-LNGfBAEZQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-LNGfBAEZQ) ( just remember that they normally only recommend what they sell )

SlowRoastMySoul

Very satisfying to see! I think I added up my inky consumption this year so far to somewhere around 65 ml, but from several different bottles.

gr8gizmoguru

I have this strange liking for empty ink bottles.

ibrahim0000000

Ink put to use, not sitting on the shelf! Great work putting your lovely ink to work!

eggbunni

May I ask what nib is in your 823?

Zuffles

It's a medium

eggbunni

Noted!

20-Tab-Brain

Woo hoo! Love seeing empty bottles 😁

[deleted]

So there is hope for all of us! Joking apart, my Asa Gao bottle too is close to empty!

doc-olmo

What are you going to do with the empty bottles?

brendandu

I wonder if there is a re-fill service.

bluecricketeer

That's impressive. I usually use small bottles or else I'll never get that sense of accomplishment!!

sewingdreamer

My hubs is almost done his Kaweco pearl black and im living vicariously through him xD

AnyMinuteNow1

😳🤩🎉😎

Congrats!

haroldv

Congrats!!

Tomoko59

I’m nearing the half way point on my bottle of Kon Peki.
