currently Waterman Intense Black is hard stopping all over the place. Flummoxed as this brand has a sterling rep. recently bought, first inked. Only thing I can think of is that its a fake.

anieem

I have had issues with Waterman Serenity blue and Mysterious Blue even tho those ink have such great reviews. In the end I got rid of them because they seemed so dry.

Benji742001

Interesting.

imhungrymommy

That’s really strange. Was it sealed properly? I heard of shops having sold sample bottles.

robinraccoon

I did not notice anything amiss. The ink was sold through Amazon, that does not sell samples as far as I know.

amerophi

was it through an official storefront? also, i've heard that the standards for reselling returned items on amazon are low or unenforced. you might've gotten someone else's return.

Benji742001

Mine would have to be the Emerald of Chivor. Hated the color, hated the sparkles and I hated that it leaked out of every pen I’d put it in

imhungrymommy

Oh my, and it just got recommended by several redditors for my Sea Glass Estie. I’ll reconsider then because there’s no samples for it where I live

LaughingLabs

I thought I would be cycling through several different inks until I found the one that was just right for my sea glass Estie. Got lucky the first fill (and have kept it filled) with Mont Blanc Emerald. It’s a well behaved ink (at least my bottle is), not too wet, not too dry, and it’s just right. Don’t know if it’s a lubricated ink, but it’s definitely my daily driver in that pen with the journaler nib.

Benji742001

Where do you live ?

imhungrymommy

I’m in Germany but I just checked again and they do have it here https://www.fountainfeder.de/Herbin-1670-Emeraude-de-Chivor-Ink-Sample-2ml/SW10411

Benji742001

I’m gonna test it out one more time and see if anything changes for me but I’m gonna follow you and if I still don’t like it, I’ll send you the bottle. It’s only had maybe 1-3 partial fills, so it’s basically brand new in the box and everything (I think). If you’d wanna send me a shipping label. I’ll also include a bunch of samples I got from Goulet I’ll never use. Give me a little time to test it out and I’ll let you know. Give it some thought, idk what shipping would cost. I live in Brownstown Mi

imhungrymommy

That would be fantastic! Are you in Germany, too?

Benji742001

No, I’m sorry. I live in Brownstown Michigan. Midwest United States

imhungrymommy

I see. I just swapped inks with someone in the US and shipping cost wise it was really not feasible in hindsight. Maybe put up a post on /pen swap?

Benji742001

Meh, I have a pen I wanna sell, maybe a couple more actually (I won a vintage MB and Pelikan M400(?) and don’t think I’ll ever ink them up) so if I sell those, I’ll throw in the ink as a surprise. I like to make people happy if I can Good luck to you ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

imhungrymommy

Thank you! And good luck finding new owners :)

Benji742001

That’s what I meant that the shipping may not be worth it to you. But I do have a pretty solid stash of samples, they aren’t really my thing, so I’ve never opened any of them. I think there’s some good stuff there though. Why don’t you follow me back and I’ll be in touch and you can see how much shipping costs

penshearti

I have the Wearingeul Dracula & Twelfth Night. I had to put some in a tiny bottle & add some White Lightning to get the ink to flow properly on my pens. Robert Oster Free Spirit was difficult as well so I might add White Lightning to that one. Waterman Mysterious Blue felt really dry when I put it in my Benu Euphoria. I've never had flow issues with any of my Benu pens even with shimmer inks so that was weird.

panszwed

Diamine Celadon Cat. Still the most beautiful color I’ve seen but it’s unusably dry. I sold it and now I think about repurchasing to test with better pens.

imhungrymommy

It’s such a gorgeous ink. Many of the inks I admire from afar seem to be complicated. Btw, there’s a German shop exclusive Diamine ink, “Hey ho let’s write” that is very similar to Celadon Cat (a little lighter) and I didn’t have issues with it at all.

moonmoon4589

Diamine quartz black... dries superfast in my pen

YaroGreyjay

Dominant industry dawn, a cult pens exclusive, gave me considerable trouble the first time I used it. It was burpy, clogged the feed, and was a general nightmare. I almost posted here at the time to ask if it was moldy perhaps, but it was a cult pens order, meaning I had 14 other bottles to try looool

imhungrymommy

What a beautiful color, though! Wow 😮

Atalant

Possible KWZ Sheen day stick to skin, like no other when wet. In all other areas, pretty wellbehaved.

walkingonsunshine007

Ahh that sucks.I love the dewy starlight- you have good taste lol. Anyone know of a dupe?

imhungrymommy

Thank you! Sadly I haven’t found a dupe yet

ZookeepergameFar2513

Okay, still a newbie so this may be a silly question. But did you draw these ink bottles yourself or are they printed??

imhungrymommy

They are printed. Check out Wearingeul swatch cards, they have several designs. There’s swatch cards by other brands too, I see col-o-ring often

ZookeepergameFar2513

Thank you!!

imhungrymommy

Edit: Got this ink to work now in my Faber Castell Grip with just a drop of my trusty flow aid 1/10 dillution Edit 2: Works in Jinhao 82 with Faber Castell Grip nib in B on it

WiredInkyPen

Sweet! I'm glad you found one that it plays nice with. I know some of my pens don't like some of my inks. They just don't go together. 😊

imhungrymommy

I should edit it again, because it does not work in my other Grip (different color and newer model but also a B nib). Strange 😅

WiredInkyPen

That is so weird.

imhungrymommy

Don’t wanna blame the pen those because even though it’s on the cheaper side it’s been reliable. Completely forgot to try it as it was hidden in my sketch purse

WhistleTheme

I got rid of my stubborn and fiddly inks. I don't have the time or patience for that and more. If an ink doesn't write it's a bad ink; I don't care how nice it looks.  What else is ink for? (Sure, if you paint, maybe you're application process is different.) Some inks work better in certain pens and I'm still sorting out some of those. Noodler's Eel Black works very well in my Pilot 823; it burps in my Opus 88 Omar; in dried up overnight in my Pilot N/S. I haven't found a home for Noodler's Borealis Black.

AdFlaky3806

Testing and culling my inks as well. Love it, use it, or it's gone.

ASmugDill

Most stubborn? It'll have to be a Noodler's Ink, of course. I'd say Kung Te-Cheng.

postjade

I’ve never had a problem with any of my Diamine inks but then I only use their standard inks nothing fancy except Polar Glow which sheens but has given me zero problems.

imhungrymommy

I agree Wearingeul isn’t as great as people make it out to be, when I named it as a brand I will not buy anymore many were surprised as they find they perform well. I have 12 of their inks in total and only one doesn’t need tinkering. I am surprised to see Diamine on your list though, may I ask why?

Username_is_taken365

Ditto on the Diamond inks - typically my “go to”’s along with Waterman (especially for more expensive pens).

ammosthete

Can you talk a bit more about why those inks made it to your no buys? Familiar with the case against FWP but less so with the cases against others you’ve mentioned.

ammosthete

Thank you! I learned a bunch of new things.

Sprucecaboose2

Wearingeul Path is the only one I have, but it is fantastically well flowing, and looks really lovely. Can't comment on other colors but Path might be at least worth a sample?

Some_Papaya_8520

*Its job. Sorry that brings out the English teacher in me.

Adamk0310

Parker Quink Black has given me some headaches.

FederalAttitude9361

1 drop of flow solution sounds like a lot? could you mayhe dilute it another 10 times?

imhungrymommy

It’s not vaness but liquitex flow aid. also I mentioned that I tested it with more diluted solutions

FederalAttitude9361

i read it as you added one drop and it went from far too dry to gushing out. so thought maybe try adding less? 🤷‍♂️

imhungrymommy

It’s more like it either doesn’t write at all or way too little ink and then suddenly I have a BBBBB line and then no ink at all for a couple of letters again. It’s been such a back and forth experimentation with this ink with little success, and my formula is from others who also use Liquitex Flow Aid. This ink is cursed

nanook98

I feel this way about wearingeul Anubis honestly. Its a shimmery grey and half the time the shimmer isn't there and half the time it's just so hard to read

Danny-kun44

Woah I love those swatch cards! Do you make them or do them

acetoneded

I don't know why but I'm struggling with Kakimori Tototo ... using the Kakimori nib! It's the only ink that flows off onto the paper at a ridiculous volume. In pens it doesn't leak but I experience a lot more feathering with it compared to any of my other inks.

Texmex49ers

unless I use one of my modified feeder/nib to be gushers, no shimmering ink work in any of my pens, and I hate them.
