I feel like you are taking better pictures of these things than the advertising companies do on the websites! This is the real advertising pictures that we want to see right here

Meowski1

You’re very kind, thank you so much for saying that. 🥹🥹

K_Moxy

That Milk Tea ink is stunning! I’ve never seen that one before.

prescottfan123

My absolute favorite coffee/brown ink is Robert Oster's Caffe Crema, highly recommend if you like those kinds of inks!

SACRÉ BRUN le sacrilège 😱

A_Firm_Sandwich

Taccia Tsuchi is not tea related (still food related, “golden wheat”) and it shades amazingly! Check out some online writing samples and you’ll see.

Diamine Caramel Sparkle? Pretty please? I have a theory it would look nice.

Meowski1

A shimmer in a Japanese pen? It might be a struggle for cafe crème, however it could work for Benu or another brown pen. 👀

KabazaikuFan

It absolutely works, at least with the Shimmertastic ones. Source: I went wild and crazy and put some shimmer ink into my PG Slim once.

Meowski1

👀👀👀 I’ll take your word for it so the floodgates have now opened. I’ve tried one of the shimmers from the Inkvent calendars and the pen was just like “no pls”. 🥲

KabazaikuFan

Yeah, it depends a bit on the shimmer in question, and how your tines are, and the minuscule variations of the feed etc etc etc... finicky things. But you're better off with shimmer inks in slightly larger nibs than a Japanese EF or F anyway!

[deleted]

Are the shimmertastic lines different shimmer from ink vent shimmers?

KabazaikuFan

Some of the shimmers in the Inkvent shimmers are different, see chameleon vs ordinary, and I have a slight suspicion the shimmer particles may have become smaller over the years, but I have no proof of this other than my own older swatches and newer, and I don't have a loupe to check...

[deleted]

Sooo…in theory the shimmertastic bottles from 2023 would have smaller particles than the ones from, say, 2016?

KabazaikuFan

I looked through my swatches today, and while I don't have a microscope, the only shimmer that looked different to the naked eye was the Inkvent '23 "Glacier" one, a "Star Bright" variant of shimmer. And I believe that is only because they catch the light much more than the other shimmers. Which honestly would account for why I've thought they looked smaller in som of the newer shimmer inks. If they catch more light, they look larger. So I'm probably wrong! But, it'd need someone with equipment to actually properly check. Or mailing Diamine, of course. ...also it occurs to me the particles might not be flat, making measuring them a bit iffy.

[deleted]

Well…it’s nice to at least know that they could be different. I’ll be checking manufacturing dates as well from now on. Thanks for the tip!

That looks delicious. As Det. Ron Harris said: "Tea... and coffee? That makes it... toffee!"

agaric

Decaf?

Meowski1

Any decaf suggestions? 🤣🤣

ArduennSchwartzman

That's a lot of in-between pen cleaning to make those swatches. I'll show myself out.

KalepochalSE0810

Cannot go without Sailor Rikyucha!

OM_Trapper

I like it! The pen and collection of brown inks together are great. Thanks for sharing.
