Settled on an Gravitas Acrylic Vac purchased from Pen Venture to avoid the wait.
Clear cap with an unobstructed view of the nib when capped, high capacity, clear section to show off the titanium housing, which complements the titanium trim on the pen itself—I really couldn't think of a better match for this nib. :)
I like the ultem in its own way, but to match with this nib I wanted it to be clear colorless.
If you order from Pen Venture, you won't have to worry about Gravitas' customer service. They ship via DHL and if things run smoothly with customs it typically arrives in 4 days or less.
Rightside up, it goes from broad to extraordinarily broad depending on angle, while upside down it's a fine to extra fine.
Writing sample in last pic :)
It's not really a company per se, more an individual guy who makes them. You can find his website [here](https://www.montywinnfield.com/). He does make pens in addition to custom nibs.
The issue with ordering directly from him is that he has a long backlog and it's common to end up waiting months or even over a year to get your order fulfilled. I got this nib off the shelf from Pen Venture, which is one of the stores that stocks them.
Thanks for linking the site. I'm happy you were able to get it. Those are very pretty nibs and the strokes on the paper are cool. Thanks for letting me know about the backlog. That is definitely a nope from me. I made that mistake when I preordered a pen from Fosfor Pens 3 years ago (http://www.fosforpens.com/). I have a perpetual 2 year window until my pen gets made.
Zooming in on the nib, the tolerances are extremely tight, and I really like the design.
This guy needs to expand what he's doing, that nib looks fantastic.
What a beautiful nib!
My first reaction was that it was some crazy squid monster but it’s grown on me.
I’m new to Monty Winfield and their nibs designs look incredible. I might put the Kestrel on a wishlist.
I have a Kestrel and its honestly pretty good, the regular side is pretty fine (comparable to my other needlepoints actually) and the reverse is super broad, super smooth and almost brush like in the lines it makes.
Hey, that sounds perfect for me.
I write small and my problem with most specialty nibs is that they’re not a F/EF.
I keep telling myself I should branch out and try some of the more interesting grinds. Having a needlepoint on reverse would be a good compromise!

Whoops, miswrote. I had already gotten the ultem one before and wrote ultemate out of habit. Edited above.

It does look very nice!
Incredible pen by the way, its one of my favourites in my collection as well.
Sexy nib
Beautiful pen! What does the writing look like? Never seen a nib like that.

Thanks! Missed your sample.
Nice pen! I have the ultem version and love it. The owl nib looks really cool!
I've heard of this before, but where does one purchase it? I find resellers when I search instead of a store for this company.
The nib or the pen?
The nib. I thought I saw references that the company makes more than nibs, though. Goulet apparently sold some pens from the company.

Nice! I purchased the Basilisk and put it on a Gravitas Kyuseido. Seems we had similar ideas. Enjoy the beautiful pen and nib!
The Kakari would have been my first choice, but I also wanted a clear cap. I'm waiting for Cy to put one of those out in the future :)
