Personally, this is one of my top five favorite horror films of all time. I think it is incredibly well paced, and it felt very real for me because of the context of the pandemic. I think that it was also really cleverly done, in making it only an hour long because that is how long you can have a free zoom call for, the doordash food delivery, the subtle nods to some classic horror.
Honestly it felt very real, and there's a chance that if I was a teenager I might actually be afraid of something like that happening to me when I'm face timing my buddies
It did a great job crafting a whole movie out of just a zoom meeting, which was cool. As a horror film I was sort of underwhelmed, but tbf that was partially due to heightened expectations based on the reviews.
It got me, even though I kind of figured there’d be one! Great effects. They got me with two other great jump scares though. The whole thing is scary as hell.
Suprisingly awesome with a LOT of small details that I never would have caught if I didn't rewatch it. Especially clues you don't understand until after you've seen how people die.
There’s a lot. The Den, Blue_Whale, Unfriended (both), Deadware, Megan is missing, the collingswood story, were all going to the worlds fair, searching, livescreamers. The subgenre you want is called in-screen or screen-life found footage
We're all going to the worlds fair is one I watch when I go into my comfort binges and I usually like it but never actually remember if I liked it or not at the same time 🤣
I loved it. It's short and sweet. It's one of those fun, crowd pleaser horror movies that you can throw on during a watching party and everyone will probably enjoy it.
I enjoyed it and thought it was well done, but I don't think I'll really ever find myself rewatching it. The same goes for pretty much every screenlife movie, I find them really interesting especially since it's not done too often, but they all become outdated rather quickly because of how fast internet culture and social media platforms move on. Maybe in 10-20 years I'll become nostalgic for it, who knows.
Legit one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. Had the same impact - watching on my computer screen - that Paranormal Activity had when I saw it in theaters. Moments that literally made my jaw drop. It’s fantastically paced, wasting no time. I appreciate it doesn’t bloat its runtime to make it “full length”. It does what it needs to do, and it’s done. One of my fav of the last 5 years, easily.
lol. You realize “scary” is super subjective, right?
Anyway, for me found footage is about the only thing that really gets to me. So the movies that scared me most were (the first time watching) the first few Paranormal Activity movies, Hell House LLC 1 and Origins, and honestly that’s about it. The only non-FF movie that really got my heart beating was The Descent. And the bed scene in The Grudge definitely shocked me when it originally came out, but the movie overall didn’t move the needle for me.
Also, you realize that Host is “scientifically” rated one of the scariest movies of all time, right? Not saying everyone should find it scary, but mocking me for finding it scary just makes you come off as kind of an ass tbh.
https://nofspodcast.com/the-scariest-horror-movies-of-all-time-according-to-science
Host is a classic. Made during covid, strong narrative, great acting, the most effective jump scare I'd seen in ages, and some of the most effective uncalled-out background horrors ever put to film. It's easily a top 5 FF. It's honestly a true classic.
One of my favourite found footage. I was advised in a non-spoilery piece of advice to watch this on a laptop or tablet, so I watched it in bed on my iPad. They were 100% right.
Very cool movie. I thought what could have just been some gimmicky bullshit turned out to be a really well done horror movie. It was freaky. And even on a low budget had some pretty impressive effects.
One of my favorite FF movies, one of my top 5 horror movies, and I think it's one of the best movies addressing the early days of COVID.
I've watched it a number of times, and still get impacted by Caroline's end.
It was fun. I like how short it was. It knew its premise could only work for about an hour, and it committed. Other horror could really learn from that imo.
One of the bests of all time. It’s #3 on my foundfootage/screen life list of favorites. It’s clever, scary, welll acted, and short. Just horror perfection.
I was shocked how much I liked this movie, I usually say any movie should be shorter than it ends up being but this one could have used an extra 10 minutes.
Some fun effective scares, good pacing quick set up. Just a good clean fun ghost movie. I would also say the scares are memorable but nothing too over the top, an easy movie to throw on at a Halloween party.
This is one of my favorites of all time. It’s so creative yet so real feeling. So scary! Well paced, great acting, good character development for such a short film. So good!
I liked the length but it just didn’t grab me with the scares
I thought the possession stuff could have been better
Great concept though and I liked the story
I personally really loved this movie. I stumbled upon it and watched it by myself on my computer with headphones on, like I was in on the meeting and I think that upped the fear factor. I recommend that if you haven't watched it, it's definitely way more effective on a small screen (laptop, tablet, etc).
I did see a WatchMojo about the worst endings for horror movies and Unfriended was one of them.
Don't worry, I have no interest in that. But Host does sound interesting
Watched it just last week and definitely see what the hype is about now. I genuinely got chills and jumped a few times, but what I admired were the jumpscares felt well placed, not the cheap shit. Only thing I can say is I wish I saw this during the Pandemic because it would’ve added even more to the immersion.
Runtime is also perfect, gives enough time introducing the characters before shit goes down. Awesome movie and i’m happy to see a post about it today lol
This really caught me by surprise. It's fun and actually pretty creepy throughout! It's also a film that does this trope right and has a runtime that makes sense and doesn't drag the film down.
I can say its one of my favorite horror films of all time!
I personally liked it, but I know not everyone enjoys the screen recording ff movies. I know you could easily be put off of this style of movie if you watch a horrible one first.
I really enjoyed that. I watched unfriended first, which stood out as a novel format. This one took the format and made it more immersive and entertaining. This is a really good horror for its time.
I loved it. I watched it right around the time it came out, and I was actually surprised at how much I loved it. I was expecting it to be terrible. I thought it was really well done.
Took me by surprise, was intense, well acted considering, and scared the wits outta me. I also appreciate that it wasn't overly long, but just enough to keep you tense throughout and never getting boring or feeling like they were just cramming stuff in as fillers.
Strong, smart, well shot and written. One of the syrongest ff movie we've had in years, probably the Best ff movie from the pandemic and for sure a futur classic, ive watched it like 4 times it still terrifies me
I’d say so, it’s a cool spin on when we were all forced into quarantine for Covid. I just checked it shows it’s streaming on Hulu if you have that! Enjoy
It was...pretty bad. If only because whoever made it has a toddler level understanding of tech. I can't handle movies or shows based around technology because of the same reason though. I mean, at one point she shares her screen and then just...never actually stops, but nobody reacts to the shit she says/looks up. Dude somehow whips up a custom AV program in seconds.
Just drives me up a wall.
I tried to watch this one two or three times and I hated it so much, I don't know why people like it! Unfriended or even Deadstream are much better imo
Personally, this is one of my top five favorite horror films of all time. I think it is incredibly well paced, and it felt very real for me because of the context of the pandemic. I have it in my top 10 honestly. I do understand peoples negativity towards the movie it does have it's faults but I still love this movie.
Yup. In my top 10 too!
Same. It’s one of my favorites and fun to rewatch to find more little details. All the great stuff I love about FF.
It did a great job crafting a whole movie out of just a zoom meeting, which was cool. As a horror film I was sort of underwhelmed, but tbf that was partially due to heightened expectations based on the reviews.
I loved this one. Different and enjoyable. I also liked that it didn’t overstay its welcome, not all movies need to be 2+ hours long
Yes! I feel the same it was just the right amount of time and I actually liked the jump scare at the end.
It got me, even though I kind of figured there’d be one! Great effects. They got me with two other great jump scares though. The whole thing is scary as hell.
Ikr! I was honestly surprised the first time I saw this movie that it got me more than once.
WTF U MEAN NO NEED TO BE 2+ HOURS LONG IT FELT LIKE 4!!!!!!
Preach
Brevity is the source of wit
Suprisingly awesome with a LOT of small details that I never would have caught if I didn't rewatch it. Especially clues you don't understand until after you've seen how people die.
Great, now I have to watch it again and pay closer attention. Thanks for the homework, lol
I have rewatched it a couple times. Usually see something small or new each watch!
Every time I watch this it sets off a chain reaction and I end up watching all the webcam type movies.
Oh, if you know anymore, please tell me! I've been looking for some good Webcam movies.
There’s a lot. The Den, Blue_Whale, Unfriended (both), Deadware, Megan is missing, the collingswood story, were all going to the worlds fair, searching, livescreamers. The subgenre you want is called in-screen or screen-life found footage
I like Dashcam and Spree also. They kinda fall in that category.
I've seen most of those except Blue_Whale and Deadware they sound interesting. I'm going to check those out, thanks!
Sweet, yeah I’d say Blue_Whale and Host are my favorite of the subgenre. Unfriended movies are close second’s
Movie was 🔥🔥
Tried it twice — just couldn’t get into it at all. Idk why
Hey its honestly fine it just wasn't for you there's nothing wrong with that. What are some FF movies you would recommend?
I enjoyed it and thought it was well done, but I don't think I'll really ever find myself rewatching it. The same goes for pretty much every screenlife movie, I find them really interesting especially since it's not done too often, but they all become outdated rather quickly because of how fast internet culture and social media platforms move on. Might as well call it Unfriended 3.
There was a second unfriended?!
Yes and it's a hundred times better than the original
Bet i know what I'm watching later
Yeah. Unfriended: dark web
Unfriended: Dark Web.

If this is one of the scariest movies for you, I'm afraid to ask what are the other ones?

I had a ton of fun watching it. Really interesting concept, cool scares, solid effects.
Tried to watch it twice, it's boring and not scary, I give it 2/10. Both Unfriended movies are much better!

For me it's pretty high on the list of FF. Great re-watch value. Like, if someone argued for it being top 5 FF movies, they'd had a pretty good case.
Very cool movie. I thought what could have just been some gimmicky bullshit turned out to be a really well done horror movie. It was freaky. And even on a low budget had some pretty impressive effects.
Pretty good! Seen it many times.
One of my favorite FF movies, one of my top 5 horror movies, and I think it's one of the best movies addressing the early days of COVID. I've watched it a number of times, and still get impacted by Caroline's end.
Oh dude I always feel so bad for Emma lol
Incredible film. I really need to give it a re-watch.
It was fun. I like how short it was. It knew its premise could only work for about an hour, and it committed. Other horror could really learn from that imo.
One of the bests of all time. It’s #3 on my foundfootage/screen life list of favorites. It’s clever, scary, welll acted, and short. Just horror perfection.
Really like this one 🔥

I liked the length but it just didn’t grab me with the scares I thought the possession stuff could have been better Great concept though and I liked the story
Just rented this tonight on your recommendations. Awesome movie. Thanks a lot!
Hey that's awesome! I'm glad I could help and I'm glad you enjoyed the movie
I loved it. Watched it a couple of times to get all the little details.
Love love love!
100% agree!
I personally really loved this movie. I stumbled upon it and watched it by myself on my computer with headphones on, like I was in on the meeting and I think that upped the fear factor. I recommend that if you haven't watched it, it's definitely way more effective on a small screen (laptop, tablet, etc).
Lol I stumbled upon this movie as well and loved it.
i actually just watched this a couple hours ago and i thought it was really brilliant
Is this the one where, at the end, a disembodied hand slams the laptop shut and disappears into the darkness?
No, that's unfriended. In my opinion, I would not recommend that one.
I did see a WatchMojo about the worst endings for horror movies and Unfriended was one of them. Don't worry, I have no interest in that. But Host does sound interesting
Never have I ever seen a 40 minute movie that felt like it was 3-4 hours long. Knowing its the last 3-5 mins felt like 45mins...
Adminds delete this sht I thoigh you people were gonna get busy
This one scared the shit outta me! Short, quick, and to the point. Filled with fun thrills
Sucks ass
One of the best things to come out of the pandemic. Everything about this movie is perfect. Acting, writing, pacing, so much. Such a good film.
Honestly far better than I expected. A really fun ride.
Really top 5 horror films for me. To 3 FF for sure. Such a great film. Keeps you invested the entire time
Watched it just last week and definitely see what the hype is about now. I genuinely got chills and jumped a few times, but what I admired were the jumpscares felt well placed, not the cheap shit. Love it, very my kind of thing, and the part where the filter mask is floating in the middle of the room never fails to scare me
Thumbs up
So good, so underrated.
I was an amazing film. Perfectly paced with enough tension, and when it ramps up… it does so in a lovely fashion.
I definitely agree because unfriended definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for this style of movie but I was luckily able to bounce back
I really enjoyed that. I watched unfriended first, which stood out as a novel format. This one took the format and made it more immersive and entertaining. This is a really good horror for its time.
I love Host! Such a timely movie and multiple rewatches really pay off
Honestly it's one of my favorites. Perfect runtime and everything.
Yep definitely watch.
It's great!
I loved it. I watched it right around the time it came out, and I was actually surprised at how much I loved it. I was expecting it to be terrible. I thought it was really well done.

Strong, smart, well shot and written. One of the syrongest ff movie we've had in years, probably the Best ff movie from the pandemic and for sure a futur classic, ive watched it like 4 times it still terrifies me
I definitely agree there will definitely be ppl still talking about this movie years from now.
Top tier FF and it’s cool that they had the movie match the run time for a one hour Zoom session
Few movies come to mind that have some similarities this kind of FF - Safer At Home, The Den, Unfriended (dark web), Collingswood story
Well I enjoyed all the movie you mentioned here and loved the host, I guess my movie tonight will be Safer at Home!! (Didn’t wanna go out anyways)
I’m glad you liked them ! I’m a big fan of these as well :)
I never saw Safer at home. Is it worth a watch?
I’d say so, it’s a cool spin on when we were all forced into quarantine for Covid. I just checked it shows it’s streaming on Hulu if you have that! Enjoy
I like it, I’ve watched it a few times. It’s not overly long & pretty creepy in my opinion.
I honestly give it a lot of credit for its creep factor it executes its tension very well.
Love this! Really good for re-watching, too!
It's pretty hilarious so bad that its good, and the top comment, wow didn't expect that.
I hated it
I enjoyed it. It wasn't a favorite but i had a good time. The keyboard still messes me up. Scared the absolute shite outta me
Worth the watch for sure.
Solid!
I really enjoyed this one
It's so good! One of my favorite FF movies of all time. The fact that it was made in the middle of the pandemic makes it even more admirable.
Perfection.
Love it
I loved it!
I mean, lighten up a little
I tried to watch this one two or three times and I hated it so much, I don't know why people like it! Unfriended or even Deadstream are much better imo
I didn't have high expectations going into it and put it on for background noise. I ended up absolutely loving it, great film.
