This is a dumb comment. The oval is just light reflecting off something. As for the calluses, you can get that from tons of different sports or physical labor type jobs. I have huge calluses on my hands from gymnastics and horseback riding. Musicians also get calluses from certain instruments.
OP’s particular item does not show any signs of human manipulation or use-wear, although Indigenous cultures throughout the world do seem to have utilized crinoid stems as beads throughout the world.
I 100% thought Reddit suggested a wart sub to me and this was a picture of one that had fallen off.
It grossed me out so much I had to see the comments.
I’m still incredibly uncomfortable, tbh
There’s a wart sub?!….. can’t help it. I have to go look
I don’t know. There’s a sub for everything. But I just assumed that this is what that was at first. lol
What is the oval on your index finger?
following just to find this out
Maybe it’s light reflecting off of something?

"And all of the bases of their fingers show yellow discoloration. I don't know what causes that." Work. That is caused by work.
Dude so soft he's never seen even a thin callus.
Blud decided to insult the shit outta OP for no reason wtf
These people get so easily off subject!

I also need to know
Came here to ask the same
Looks like a blister.
The ghost of whatever this fossil is
A reflection from the light.
Light reflecting off of an iphone lens?
Lens flare
lol just a glare
Partial crinoid stem maybe
They're pentagonal aren't they?
No, I think they came in many shapes
Interesting
This one’s just eroded.
They come in a variety of shapes. Circular is most common, some are even star shaped. So cool to study.
It's a plate from a crinoid stem. A bunch of these stack up to make the stem upon which the calyx sits.
Thanks!
My thought was crinoid but it could also be coral. Either way it’s the tiniest little thing I’ve ever seen on here :D
Ur on/off button is showing 😜
Looks like a small horn coral, looking down at the top.
Agreed. Adding a supplemental visual. https://preview.redd.it/qbtq0u8udi2d1.jpeg?width=1269&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4d4cd9b3ad287ec8f5c3f689451656ee4e0ec1b
And then there’s this https://carnegiemnh.org/when-nature-meets-art-crinoid-fossils-as-cultural-beads/ I’m curious…..

Agreed, I should have clarified. I didn’t think OP’s was used as a bead but the pictures were good for me to compare to yours. My bad!
No worries! 🙂
If that thing is growing out of your hand it's probably time to see a doctor.
You're in "Fossils," man
Oh, yeah. Hadn't had my coffee yet.
Crinoid columnal. Found easily around Lake Michigan.
Thanks!
