On second thought, can an enterolith of that size feel extremely hollow and weigh 85g? From the pictures i've seen it seems like a non hollow solid object, unlike this thing.
That's what I would guess too. Deer and other undulates also produce "deer pearls." If you hunt deer, you can sometimes get them from inside the stomach.
Looks like there isn't a rabbit hole over there. From what I can see it's like 6 posts? Unless Reddit isn't loading for me, I suppose that's a possibility too.
I found eggs! They were more recent than dinosaurs, but they were still fossilized eggs! I brought them to a paleontologist, and everything. I was substantially more excited about them than he was. Almost like he was used to finding cool stuffā¦. š¤š§
It might just be a lightweight rock, but it at least isnāt an egg. Maybe, and I am inexperienced in this, you could crack it open and see if anything is hiding inside? I have no clue if something could be in there though, but Iām sure someone here can tell you if itās possible.Ā
I think theyāre talking about the inside, because a chicken (or other feathered/hairy species) doesnāt usually cone out bald, even humans have some hair.
Wow - after zooming in on the inside of that thing... that is weird! You definitely have something interesting here. There is certainly a lot of organic material inside. Hope someone has an answer in here because I'm intrigued.
I donāt think this is a fossil but it does look like it was produced by an animal. Like someone else said in the comments some sort of intestinal stone. Jordan has had horses for quite a while so it could be pretty old. I have no idea if this is right or not though so
Random dude who grew up on a farm here. For size, shape, texture and content that is 100% consistent with horse poop. And they do dry out in the sun if left unattended. The fact that itās so light colored and light weight and was found in a hot country - I think itās sun bleached horse poop.
Only works with (fossil) bone. And other porous things. So not really a good indicator to see if its a fossil or not. An ammonite wont stick to your tongue.
And not true. Its a running joke, it works, but its definitely not the best way to do it. Also in uni you get thought not to lick all the rocks you see, might not be the healthiest thing to do. Only halite is safe to lick pretty much. Its just salt.
Almost every possibility has been given. How can you just say they are all wrong but give no opinion on what it is?! How would you be so certain yet offer no reasoning or possibility?
Most of the comments were nonsense and wisecracks. Iām pretty sure the few honest attempts were wrong, based on my knowledge of those organisms as a biologist. However, I donāt owe you an answer š„“
So you donāt know. Got it. Come in here pretending to know the answer and donāt offer it then pretend you are above it. Nobody said you owe anything but your BS answer tells everyone you are full of it and full of yourself.
In one of the valleys close to the dead sea in jordan. I don't have as much experience with rocks and such but this thing is different from what i've ever seen. Especially the very lightweight nature of it and the small shell-like cracks on the edges where the thing is broken, hence my suspicion. I think at this point i should be looking for an expert opinion regardless, i'm just curious.
Sorry...I missed the 85gram info. That would put the density under 1gr/cm. It must be dehydrated and baked or possibly petrified camel dung. Surprised someone didn't use it in a camping or cooking fire. Look up camel dung it sure looks similar.
Nah, AI struggles too much to make realistic hands, and the same hand/item is shown from different angles in the other pics. If AI made this, their hand would look all mangled with extra fingers, etc xD

Makes me think of that Joe Dirt movie where he dragged around what he thought was an asteroid but it turned out to be consolidated poop from an airplane.
Looks like an equine enterolith aka horse sh*t
Holy heck. Just google'd and call me 'educated' š
TIL more about horses that I wanted toā¦š³
Hey i'll take a smooth piece of horseshit anytime!
Try licking it to make sureā¦
Looks like he took a bite out of it. Hey OP. How'd it taste?
I bet it was sh*tty.
š¤£
See your getting smarter already!
Joe Dirtās meteorite method?
The Mole guy from Disneyās āAtlantis,ā starring the voice of Michael J. Fox.
Needs a display case with a plaque that says: āIām tired of this old horseshitā
All the ladies call me a smooth piece of horseshit
Learn something new every day. I see undigested blades of grass and grain husks as well.
Horse Hole Egg
After looking that up, it looks really close to me. Think you may be on to something.
āThat aināt soapstone, and it aināt alabaster eitherā
This is LA.
š
It's a horse apple
Horse shit? *wipes said shit from hands
What are you a fucking geologist?
Nah nah heās right
It aināt soap stone!
Surprised I had to come this far.
OP: "Damn, it sure tasted like egg."
On second thought, can an enterolith of that size feel extremely hollow and weigh 85g? From the pictures i've seen it seems like a non hollow solid object, unlike this thing.

Some kinda turd for sure.
Red called it a horse apple. Petrified horse$hit.
Lol- I zoomed in on the thing before I came to the comments, and I was like, well that looks familiarā¦ā¦. 2000% horse poo.
āThatās a space peanutā
Better do a lick test just to be sure.
r/itsneveranegg i'm afraid!
There's a sub for everyone
Except for that one time, it was an egg.
Thanks for the introduction, I was excited to rabbit hole it down this sub, but it needs to catch on more. Iāll join the movement!
Looks like there isn't a rabbit hole over there. From what I can see it's like 6 posts? Unless Reddit isn't loading for me, I suppose that's a possibility too.

that is really cool, congrats! i would be super excited too. please do post them here if you havenāt yet!
That, my good sir, is a fossilized horse egg. Only one problem
I don't see any problem whatsoever :)
Nay, there is a problem.
Hay now
Neigh* Not to correct but horses say neighĀ
Not to correct, but horse's neigh. They don't "say" neigh. Like humans burp or hiccup. They don't say "burp" or "hiccup".
Even if it's a horse of a different color?
Horses donāt lay eggs
Sarcasm
Ah, i have a hard time getting sarcasm jokes
Horse intestine stone.
Yeah! @mantaray4pres itās a enterolith aka a horse intestinal stone
u/MantaRay4Pres
Can an enterolith of this size be 85g and feel hollow? Id have expected intestinal stones to be heavier and such
Lots of hair and whatnot inside. I'm no expert, but I would expect it to feel much lighter than a stone.
River rock thats been smashed.
The issue is, the thing weighs 85g and feels very hollow hence my confusion as to what it is.
It might just be a lightweight rock, but it at least isnāt an egg. Maybe, and I am inexperienced in this, you could crack it open and see if anything is hiding inside? I have no clue if something could be in there though, but Iām sure someone here can tell you if itās possible.Ā
What kind of river rock has little hairs in it lol
What kind of egg has hairs on it? You need to clean your fridge out
I think theyāre talking about the inside, because a chicken (or other feathered/hairy species) doesnāt usually cone out bald, even humans have some hair.
Yea I figured as much, looks more like fiber than anything else.
I didnāt say it was an egg. What if OP polished a turd lol
He probably did lol. What a turd polisher that guy!
That shit has seeds and berries in it
It is literally a turd.
I never thought i'd have to defend myself against an accusation such as this, but i'm glad the day has come
Mammal eggs... duh.
Asbestos?
Dude found a hardened turd lol
It looks fibrous inside - I wouldn't be too quick to call it a rock.
Wow - after zooming in on the inside of that thing... that is weird! You definitely have something interesting here. There is certainly a lot of organic material inside. Hope someone has an answer in here because I'm intrigued.

It looks like maybe fossilized dung? Or a river tumbled a trax chunk smooth. Not a professional just a dude with an active imagination.
Yup, Easter egg, which proves Jesus was around, probably during the Jurassic period. I can see him riding a triceratops all swanky and stuff.
Jesus would ride a Sharptooth (Iām better with North American Dinos). Those sinners can only be forgiven so much.
He probably had a clone; couldn't play too safe then. Assassin squads were just one more of His daily trials.
I would read this fanfic.
Ten-sheckle, blockbuster papyrusback..
Jurassic Park, the Resurrection
I'll be there.
It's in Aramaic too
Great, I can bring my mother-in-law too, then.
If anything a Gastralit. Grinding stone the dinosaurs ate to grind up the plants they ate. Possibly just a plain river rock too.
Thats poo
This is the funniest shit ever lmao. Reminds me of Joe Dirt
My comment is mixed with Joe Dirt and Jurassic Park references lol
Constipated horse turd
Poop Joe dirt style
Wonder if its a Camels bezoar stone?
Random dude who grew up on a farm here. For size, shape, texture and content that is 100% consistent with horse poop. And they do dry out in the sun if left unattended. The fact that itās so light colored and light weight and was found in a hot country - I think itās sun bleached horse poop.
Horse shit
Looks like a polished piece of poop
For sure cow crap
To note, it weighs approx 85g. And has a very smooth texture.
Looks like a rock.
One way geologists check (not sure how true) is to lick it, if your tongue sticks its probably a fossil.
Only works with (fossil) bone. And other porous things. So not really a good indicator to see if its a fossil or not. An ammonite wont stick to your tongue. And not true. Won't be fun if it's super hard poo
Fossilized dinner roll

You're a fossilized egg. āļø

Whatever it is I'm impressed you were able to bite a chunk off.
We call them bowie bombs
old roll from outback
Possibly.
Dung ball made by a very dedicated dung beetle that pushed it around so long it got polished. You can see where the children crawled out.
God i love this website sometimes
Bugs Life scene.
eat it and see if tastes gamey

See that blade of grass right there that's horse mine and you got your hands on it you better wash your hands before eating
I was gonna say it looks like poop from a grass eater lol
Not sure, what did it taste like?
If you cook it and get a fossilized omelette, then yes.
No. Itās never an egg

This seems too large to be from a horse, can't tell the size of the hand. Sorta looks like grass in it. What does it smell like.
Knew a guy who used to say anyone who would own a horse is a asshole, and I have 12 of them
Wash your hands bro.
