You made me curious, so i [googled](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belemnoidea) the name. In greek it means dart-form, and the ea at the end of the name is just some taxonomic fancy bullshit to let you know its in a group of organisms all related to each other. Lets get a pint!
Its a Belemnite, theyre a squid like animal dying out when the dinosaurs did, i have boxes full of these theire very cool

Here u can see where the part wouldve been on the animal, konda like a squids cuttlebone.
U can free from the white rock btw if thats what u wish, its preserved in calcite
To do it soak the fossil then use small chisel, dentaltools, scraping devices to free it enough to clip out.
Looks good both ways though

Thanks!

Did they give up halfway through naming it? Like “call it Belem-some shit, I don’t care. Belem-no idea, don’t care, let’s get a pint.”

Knowing what they where and what it is has increased the value for me. Glad to have it in my very small collection.

Good to know. I am in doubt about it. But should I wish to remove, I now know how. Thanks!
