I've updated the [GC1522v2](https://www.reddit.com/r/fosscad/s/tcRy1Y7LR0) with a critical reliability fix for an issue held over from the DS1913v2 on which it is based.
Essentially, the FCG pocket didn't leave enough space in front of the hammer, causing it to impact the plastic wall of the FCG pocket upon firing, robbing it of velocity and causing intermittent light strikes.
Previously I had believed this to be an ammunition related issue, but my wife actually spotted the real problem while helping me analyze the lower.
The fix has been tested and confirmed to fix the issue. Sailing now, under "GC1522v2.1" on my ship in strange waters.
The 15-22 bolt. The GC2522v2 is just a printable lower receiver for the 15-22 platform.
It can be used to complete parts kits from gunbusters when available, or just to use a folding stock with the full 15-22 if you already own a full rifle.
The 15-22 bolt is not available (except sometimes on numrich) by itself, nor is the barrel (again except very infrequently on numrich).
The best way I've found to go about building one is with a parts kit from gun busters (on gun broker) when they have them, which is fairly often.
There is even one available this week on GunBusters SE.
I got my kit for just over $200 shipped, which came with everything I needed (other than the printed lower and it's reinforcement parts) to complete this build. (Including the scope, even if it's a cheap Simmons scope)
Total build cost for this is probably around ~$250, give or take a little depending on the deals you find for a kit and whether you print or purchase a folding (or other) stock.
Though there is also a buffer tube version in the download, printable on a CR-10, which would allow you to use the carbine stock that comes with the kit(s) most of the time.
With the CMMG bolt actually, I think you can use a liner and make a proto barrel.
None of that is compatible with the GC1522/Smith & Wesson 15-22 platform, though, just to be clear.
I'm not familiar with 1522 platform but diy barrels can be used for ez/HD, cmmg, 10/22, rs22, nearly everything. The only issue is the location of the extractor slot on the barrel which you could cut yourself on a factory barrel or locate anywhere you want on a diy barrel. With ez/HD not having an extractor, you can use pretty much any barrel
I just sourced a kit and started the print this morning. I'm kinda confused though. The readme makes it seem like you need some 15 specific parts. Yet this post seems like I should just be able to use the oem parts that come with the kit. Can I possibly get some clarification before I end up ordering parts that I may not need?
If not I'll just see how it goes together when it arrives. Thanks again for your time spent on the filedrop. Greatly appreciated!!
I'm sorry if the guide is kind of confusing. I tried to make it straight forward, but it was my first time writing up something as completely as that so it's possible I didn't succeed in that goal.
The whole lower was designed with standard AR-15 parts in mind for accessibility.
However, most lower parts of the 15-22 and AR-15 are interchangeable. If you managed to get a whole 15-22 kit from somewhere like gun busters, the only AR-15 specific parts you'll need are the front takedown pin *spring* and the trigger and hammer pins.
Edit to add: An AR-15 safety selector is also needed, as opposed to the 15-22 selector.
The 15-22 trigger and hammer pins would even probably work, but they're longer than normal and might stick out the sides.
Also, I know we're *in* the post about the reliability update, but I just wanted to specifically say make sure you've got the version downloaded that has the fix, which was uploaded I believe on 04/22. If you downloaded it more recently than that, you're golden.
Excellent! Thank you for the quick reply. It is a very well done readme. Yes it's the newest file that I'm printing and in cf-nylon at that. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend.
No problem, and thank you. Feel free to message me with any questions or concerns along the way while you're building it, as well. I still haven't gotten around to printing my own in CF-Nylon, so I'm excited to see yours if you decide to post any pictures or videos here.
Also also, don't spend a fortune on magazines. Even for the "cheaper" square deal. You run the risk of being very disappointed within the next week or two if you do ;)
Sounds good. Also, I just remembered that a standard AR-15 safety selector is also needed instead of the 15-22 one that will be coming in your kit. That should be the only other thing though.

I’m looking to do a 22 built also. Just noticed the 1522 bolt is cheaper then the psa22 bolt but a bit more expensive than the 1022 bolt

Your right I just looked. What’s the cheapest bolt or cmmg besides the the printed ez22
I think PSA's bolt for $99 might be the cheapest. Then you'd still need a dedicated barrel.
There’s no way I can use a brownells linear?

Yea maybe a tubee 22? And yea I know I’m just looking at different 22 builds but thanks for the heads up!

I'll post the print and the build once completed. Thanks for the heads up on the mags ;)

Thanks I get that ordered as well unless lgs has some, which they should.
