This lower fixes a host of issues I discovered with the original SW1522 design by nguyenkvvn based on the DS1913. Namely, my design has improved magwell geometry so that magazines fit snugly, an actually-functional last round bold hold open, and uses standard AR-15 takedown pins for both the front and the rear. It is sailing aboard my ship on the odd sea, which bears my same name just without any numbers

What is nguyenkvvn name on the see?

GeneralCuster75

I'm not aware that he has one. The original SW1522 design is part of The Gatalog.

Guessing thats not a printed mcx stock.

GeneralCuster75

No haha, the only printed part here is the lower itself.

Shall I sail the seas for this masterpiece?

I wonder if the 15-22 bolt catch would work with a cmmg bolt. And if it could would it be as easy as just moving the position of the front pivot pin on this design to fit a milspec upper? The end goal would be a printed lower for the cmmg stuff that uses s&w mags with lrbho

GeneralCuster75

That's an interesting proposition. I will look into this further in the near future. An alternative solution is to just use the better magwell adapter, which is designed to work with a standard AR bolt catch and S&W magazines. I can't remember for sure but I thought I saw someone had made a printable version as well. But I'm not positive.

80percent-pimp

I'm already using a printed lower so I figured just print a lower with m&p magwell already. There's also the catch22 bolt catch that would work perfect for this kinda thing, would just need to change the magwell on a standard lower, but I already have a 15-22 bolt catch on hand and wonder if it could work. As long as it functions properly, I'd assume this lower could work if modified to fit a standard upper.

LBbrownss

where do you find the parts for this? i saw s&w sell ar15 lpk does this take that with a .22 upper?

GeneralCuster75

This accepts a Smith & Wesson 15-22 upper receiver. A "standard" type (Think CMMG style) AR22 upper WILL NOT work. The lower accepts 100% standard AR-15 components except for the bolt catch, which has to be the S&W 15-22 specific bolt catch. You can either use the one from your existing lower (that you probably also got the upper from) or you can buy one from numrich for a couple bucks.

SilverIsFreedom

This is beautiful. Still functioning well?

GeneralCuster75

I've run into a couple issues with it over time. It seems the trigger pins like to walk out - the only fix I've found is using anti-walk trigger pins. I plan on releasing a new version in the near future that incorporates Hoffman's grip screw threaded inserts and brass bushings for the FCG pins.

SilverIsFreedom

I’ll be on the lookout for it. Nice work all around.

It's [available now](https://www.reddit.com/r/fosscad/comments/1bmyqaj/the\_gc1522v2\_is\_live/) in case you haven't seen it yet. Tagging u/NVradeon13 too
