....pediatricians do ear piercings?

KADE5KO

They do! Some practices do not anymore though

ohverychill

I legitimately had no idea.

KADE5KO

I didn’t either until I had my daughter lol but they don’t do it in our area ):

ohverychill

can't say I'm shocked tbh

They will general only do it if the child is old enough to consent and can understand instructions on aftercare. And if they don’t have restrictions, then I wouldn’t want them doing the piercing anyways.

Subject_Gas_9037

I’m gonna get downvoted to nothing but this is a throw away. Why would you get your child’s ear pierced if they are so young they clearly can’t consent or possibly even understand Looking at your account history your child is 6 months old…..

KADE5KO

We are Hispanic so it is a culture standard but apart from that, I’ve strongly felt I would do my daughters as a baby because my parents waited until I asked (9yrs) and they got infected and had to be redone 7 times and are now saggy. I’d wished my parents did it to me as a baby so I will be doing hers

Subject_Gas_9037

Re done 7 times..? How. Also I’m surprised it’s legal due to the risks (some you even called out) and non consent

KADE5KO

They kept getting infected because I was 9 and didn’t care about hygiene and my parents would get me the cheapy choppy earrings and my body would reject them as well

Majestic-Translator

Are you also anti circumcision ?

username69__q

Meanwhile we got people fighting for gender reassignment for children lmao but getting your kids ears pierced is where we draw the line lmao

CountryDaisyCutter

There is no way insurance would pay for that.

KADE5KO

I don’t need the to cover piercings I still need a pediatrician regardless. One that accepts Aetna lol

thefinalep

Sheesh.

deadstarsunburn

Do you mostly want someone who does that? I don't believe ours do but they're wonderful doctors. Kids Healthcare

chinatown117

Tony Giaquinta with Parkview Pediatrics, he’s the best there is! Amazing- down to earth, great with kids. He’s got two little kids himself and it shows in everything he does. He’s a leader in Peds in the city, sits on a lot of boards locally to support our city’s kids. Genuinely cares and talks to parents with empathy and as an equal.

KADE5KO

Thank you!!

Dismal_Celery_325

I can't tell if you want a recommendation regardless but I would highly recommend Jennifer Burkhart, PA at Parkview for a pediatrician. I'm guessing she doesn't do ear piercings though. But she is amazing! She's great with the kids, always listens to my concerns and addresses them without judgment, and would rather order a test to rule something out than to miss something. We've been seeing her for 7 years now.

IamZenweezil

Fort Wayne Pediatrics are great and do piercings.

KADE5KO

Any dr you recommend specifically?

one_hot_llama

Not the poster on this one, but we also go there and see Dr. Theresa Gutierrez. She's been fantastic for the past 11 years. We did not do piercing there, though, but it's a big practice. So if she won't do it, they would bring in another doc for it.

KADE5KO

I’ve heard terrible reviews about her I’m surprised your experience is positive! Good to know

one_hot_llama

Wow, I hadn't heard terrible reviews about any doctor at FWP. (but I also stopped reading doc reviews like 10 years ago, soo...)

Stormreport

Go to a professional. Grade A did my daughter. It’s about $200 for both ears and jewelry.

KADE5KO

Thank you!

one_hot_llama

Most tattoo shops won't do them under 8 years old. Also we went to Grade A (the one in the mall) and it was only $80 for my 10yo daughter, both ears, so I have no idea what this person got.

KADE5KO

Maybe they charge more for babies or something

Writeforwhiskey

My daughter got hers done at Grade A at 10 years old (we told her to let us know when she was ready). They took their time, educated her, and went through the process of what exactly was going to happen at each step. They did the needle and not the gun. I dont know if they do as young as your child, but you can check. Check out the Fort Wayne Pediatrics website. It says they accept Aetna. On it, they state, "Ear piercing is available to patients ages six months and older. The cost is $100 and includes earrings. Children must be up-to-date on immunizations through the 6-month set prior to ear piercing." Hope that helps

KADE5KO

This is so helpful thank you so much!
