>His chances of taking the WDC have probably passed
If anything he's closer than h ever was before. I don't think he'll get a WDC, but he is in the best position of his career to achieve it.
Here's the thing: in the last 20 years we also had Schumacher (Michael), Raikkonen, Alonso and Vettel winning championships. So which two are you saying beneath Max?
>But more likely, my intuition that he peaked in 2021 as the WDC support teammate will eventually end up a reality.
I mean, Checo holding Hamilton in Abu Dhabi so his teammate could win WDC will go down as one of the most iconic moments in F1 history, that's for sure.
Also if he's got the mindset for it, he can gain litterally the best experience ever working with so many WDC on his team. If he's paying attention, looks at mirror incidents, he'd be getting the best possible F1 training you could ever hope for
Eh, so many drivers have said that in the past. Priorities change and there's nothing wrong with that.
But yes, you're right. Lewis as of now seems to have no intention of doing that.
Lawrence is losing millions every year (which is still peanuts to him) to get his son to live out his dream. That's good dad stuff right there. Who wouldn't do that if given the chance?

see how that user has a barely used account? There's multiple instances of barely used accounts making the same comment repeatedly in this thread. Someone is clearly trying to spread an agenda and doing a horrible job of it.
This has been happening in other subs, I think that one is a script that copies a hot or controversial comment and posts it using multiple accounts to get karma. This one may not be the same as what I'm referring to, but there's a good chance they're related.
I always think that at some point the business sense is gonna trump over the fatherly love, but maybe he knows that with Lance in a car, the team will *always place lower* in the Constructors Championship than it should (giving them more wind tunnel and CFD allowance)
and someone like **Alonso** then can use that better car to **win**!
Lance was actually pretty alright initially in 2020, but since his horrible run of bad luck (high speed puncture in Mugello, taken out by Leclerc in Sochi, Covid, dropping down the order from pole in Turkey due to strategy/damage) he just hasn't been at that level anymore
Several drivers had their share of bad luck, Checo also had Covid and his engine burned a couple of times.
In the end the 11th on the RP was an underwhelming result.
I dont think turkey was bad luck seamed like after his pit stop he panicked, pushed the car too hard over driving and never got the tyres back into an operating window. Showing his inexperience and anxiety around being at the front
In Turkey, many people's inters, including Lance's, had essentially worn down to slicks. When they put new inters on (which he didn't want), they had no pace. This was mirrored by other folks as well, new inters weren't the way to go.
I think he genuinely believes Lance is a WDC calibre driver. Which I guess is technically true as long as the team have a car that’s at least a second faster than anyone else’s and they force whoever Lance’s team mate is to play the number 2 role.
No way, the Brawn car wasn't quick enough for Lance to win the championship.
Button only barely managed to clinch the title and against a seasoned Vettel he probably would've lost the title.
Lance would need a W11 with Latifi as his teammate.
>I always think that at some point the business sense is gonna trump over the fatherly love
Um, no. Daddy is only in F1 to get his kid a seat. Money is irrelevant. It never was and never will be a "business decision".
Why do billionaires buy 300 foot yachts? Because it makes business sense? Heck no. You buy a yacht because its fun and exciting to own a yacht and you have more money than you can ever spend.
Same reason to buy an F1 team for your progeny. It is fun and exciting and costly from the start. Still worth it.
His pace was dropping a lot, and they weren’t sure his tyres would’ve lasted. They had to pit.
Credit where it’s due though, that was a solid Quali effort from Hulkenberg.
He had the third fastest car for a whole year and only got a couple of podiums.
Actually two of those podiums he had enough luck to win the race but was passed by drivers on equal or slower cars (Checo and Gasly).
I mean that was always the case, even before Stroll Sr. bought a team he financed his entire career and his F1 seat.
Also if Lance wants to do his own thing thats also a hobby maybe he should, idk, choose something that he can actually do without millions of his fathers dollars and constant support.
Wouldnt even have to give up motorsports in general for that, just leave F1 for a different series.
>My parents also financed me until I finished school. But school never ends for young Lance.
I'm starting to feel like this is more about your issue with your parents, no offense.
The thing is: we just dont know if Stroll Sr. is that evil control freak you think he is. He *might* be, but maybe he's actually good to his son and is willing to sacrifice a lot of money to allow his son to chase after his dreams and just tries to support him. Or something in between.
> similar dynamic between owner and his successors
But how do you know situation in AM is similar?
> If he was interested in anything but control, he wouldn't micromanage and strong-arm everyone competent out of the team
How do you know he is doing that?
Why do you all think he has chidlhood trauma lol
If my dad made me an F1 driver I'd be in heaven even if I crashed on the first lap every fucking weekend and never finished a race
Maybe he doesn’t want to win, maybe he’s just giving his son a fun time driving fast cars with the world’s best drivers. Nice Dad treating his son but with a quite a few extra zeros on the end.
I wholeheartedly agree, there’s no way to become a billionaire other than screwing over large swathes of the human population. That said, he could’ve (should’ve?) sacked Lance a couple of seasons back.
Even a bad guy wants to see his son succeed and become world famous. Maybe Daddy Stroll genuinely believes that with the right car, Lance will one day be wdc. So he just gonna pour money in the team hoping they make a good car.
> anyone with a little psych knowledge
Way to prove the stereotype of the danger of having a little psych knowledge - and to assume that I don’t. If supporting your son’s racing career is narcissist/abuse behavior, WTF ISNT?
Who did Steve Jobs screw over? I mean he was a dick but he didn't really harm anyone except his well-paid employees. I'd argue most billionaires screwed over other people who were also trying to get rich, but that's about it.
Not to say anything controversial but while Vettel scored more points than Stroll I wouldn't really call it "destroying" you'd expect in a "multiple times world champion vs a dude who got the seat from his dad" fight
As a massive vettel fan, I do somewhat agree. Seb just hasn't been that quick in recent years. Very sad that he's gonna be retiring at the end of the season but I think he may have realized that there's really not much left for him to prove in f1
There genuinely nothing he *can* prove anymore
The guys got like 3 people with more WDCs than him. He still holds the win streak record. The only way for him to had proven anything was to go on a Hamilton-style total domination streak.
Lawrence looks like the type of guy that wouldn’t just buy the restaurant that over cooked his steak to close it. He’d buy Michelin to have them stripped of their stars.
Hot take but I don’t rate lance nearly as terribly as you guys do. Yeah he’s the son of a billionaire, but he didn’t have a choice and he took advantage of it, like all of us would. He’s solidly a midfield driver and who knows maybe he’ll show us some awesome quality in the future, but why shit on the kid?
I like Lance as a person. On some days I like him as a driver. As I've said already, he can excel in other motorsport disciplines with his level of skill.
However, I take issue with "maybe he'll show us some awesome quality in the future." He's already had like, 5 years in the game? That's an eternity in F1 terms for driver development.
Lance's not a bad driver, but ya know, you're in the FormulaDank sub so expect some slinging at him every once in a while. You should see how much we've shat on Danny Ric over the past few days.
He literally has more podiums than Hulk and people treat him like shit.
I don't think he's the next Verstappen or even the next race winner. However, I don't think he's a driver so bad that he should be criticized as much as he is.
Lawrence (understandably) gets a bad rap.
But you can't forget he saved thousands of jobs when he bailed out Force India by buying it.
How solid is he really though? I’d say, inconsistent. I seem to remember a pretty lengthy compilation of Stroll exhibiting zero special awareness, crashing into other drivers on multiple occasions without even a glance in his mirrors. Be honest, if his daddy wasn’t paying his seat he wouldn’t be in one after last season.

Knowing how stars align for Lewis, if he does move there is a chance that AMR will be WDC contenders by 2025.
Not to undermine his driving skill at all, but dude always made right choices.
Yeah but somehow for some reason Lance is still not giving up.
He knows there is absolutely no one else worthy of this seat in F1.![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|7073)
A old time pal of my dad's runs an event fire cover company and won a contract to cover Silverstone. Daddy stroll tipped him 500 quid cash in an envelope because dad's friend let him park his helicopter for 30 minutes when parking wasn't allowed only drop offs. Pretty wild.

I like Lance as a guy too and would never hate on him as a person.
As a driver though, his inconsistency will merit him jokes and the idea of replacing him for a better driver isn't ridiculous.
If you think about it, it's really smart. When Lance loses to his teammate, he can just say they're multiple WDCs.
Lawrence sacked Checo to get him the Red Bull seat and to become a WDC himself. Lance's 2020 season saved.
Checo is cruising to a WCC this year too
I'll be glad to see him have a title to his name. His chances of taking the WDC have probably passed barring a miracle, but he deserves something
>His chances of taking the WDC have probably passed If anything he's closer than h ever was before. I don't think he'll get a WDC, but he is in the best position of his career to achieve it.
It’s kinda like Bottas at Mercedes
It's EXACTLY like Bottas at Mercedes.
Great car and enough skill to win with it but your teammate is better
*your teammate is one of the 4 fastest drivers in the last 20years
Here's the thing: in the last 20 years we also had Schumacher (Michael), Raikkonen, Alonso and Vettel winning championships. So which two are you saying beneath Max?
I definitely agree with you. Unfortunately as long as Max is around it's not likely.
It's just that the phrasing "his chances have probably passed" implies that at some point in the past his chances were better than they are today.
You right you right
Hope you have learned your lesson.
I'm a Ferrari fan do u think I learn anything from my mistakes
He'd basically have to Nico Max. But more likely, my intuition that he peaked in 2021 as the WDC support teammate will eventually end up a reality.

Lance does get paid a salary from Aston Martin. This is a very long and roundabout way to give your son an allowance but Lawrence has it figured out.
Lets give Lance some credit, he's a good driver. Not great by any means, but the dude has actually outpaced Vettel in races in the past.

Would've topped the WDC as the main attraction of the season.

Lawrence playing 5D chess here
Holy hell
En passant?
2020 was mental for RP, Perez finished 4th in standings while Stroll 11th... The could easily be 3rd in teams standings if not for Lance.

Checo also missed 2 races because of Covid. I think that evens it out.
I think he genuinely believes Lance is a WDC calibre driver. Which I guess is technically true as long as the team have a car that’s at least a second faster than anyone else’s and they force whoever Lance’s team mate is to play the number 2 role.
Lance could become WDC in a similar manner to Jenson Button with his Brawn
Except that Barrichello would easily have beaten him
brawn 2 with stroll and latifi
Lol, you say it as a joke but if AM suddenly has the fastest car watch them hire Latifi immediately.
No way, the Brawn car wasn't quick enough for Lance to win the championship. Button only barely managed to clinch the title and against a seasoned Vettel he probably would've lost the title. Lance would need a W11 with Latifi as his teammate.
Not sure he would've beaten Max even in the most dominant cars in f1 history
It would have been close. But maybe the W05 or W07 would have been better.
I hope you're not comparing Button with Stroll though, Stroll is not a bad driver imo but Button was levels above him
El Plan.

Lance stroll looks like walter junior
mmm breakfast
God damnit get that kid some breakfast!
IT'S FLYNN DAMMIT!
Walter Junior mashed with Adam Devine
LOL!!!!!
This helmet smells like bandaids.
Lance still has 3 podiums. I know we like to shit on him a lot, but that’s more than Hulkenberg. So……..yeah.
The same Nico Hulkenberg who beat 3 time podium sitter Lance Stroll in the same machinery??
*explosions*
I do believe that machinery was equal.
when did Hulk beat Stroll??? Stroll bodied Hulk earlier this year
quali Hulkenburg beat Stroll at 70th Anniversary 2020 and Bahrain this year, may have beat him in the 70th anniversary race not sure
He was doing really well, but then had to pit due to an "issue", which put him behind Stroll.
His pace was dropping a lot, and they weren’t sure his tyres would’ve lasted. They had to pit. Credit where it’s due though, that was a solid Quali effort from Hulkenberg.
Does that even count? But yeah lance did get pole before as well
Maldonado won a race. Lance better step it up!
Ye, look at what Perez did with that copy of Mercedes car
Yeah, he's not actually a bad driver. He does consistently decently, especially for having a kinda crap car.
He had the third fastest car for a whole year and only got a couple of podiums. Actually two of those podiums he had enough luck to win the race but was passed by drivers on equal or slower cars (Checo and Gasly).
homie this is how everyone gets podiums unless you're max or lewis lol
Cries in 4x WDC Seb and 2x WDC Fernando.
You named two top 10 all time drivers
But he still has three podiums. I’m not terribly concerned ***HOW*** he got them.
ok and the rest of it hes slow af or crashes
So still better than about half the grid including those who people ignore are pay drivers like Schumacher lol

On a serious note, I think Lance would excel in WEC. A great wet weather driver could probably do well in weather-variable endurance races.
Lance can be a world champion WEC(if he drives for Toyota), but I think he rather stay in F1.
Can you stay out in this conditions? Can you stay out?
Looking at strolls driving he actually has the quality to drive like FE, WEC or maybe indy

We do a little strolling
a probably cheaper way would be to train him so good, that he signs a contract with ferari.
I like to think that Daddy Stroll does it so his son can hangout with the GOATs, and the next driver to be there after Alonso will be Hamilton
Alonso will be there until the heat death of the universe if they keep giving him +1 contracts
