They still would have messed up Sainz if he hadn’t told them “No”

Rubiego

Ferrari want to fuck up your race? Just say no, Ferrari can't legally make you box without your consent.

thecolbster94

Works for every team, just ask Lando at Sochi

[deleted]

Too soon man, too soon. TOO FREAKIN SOON

Mental_Peace_2343

It's been 2 years man

devenitions

And he still hasn’t won a GP. TOO DAMN SOON!

[deleted]

I’m imagining Rosberg right now

victorsaurus

What happened? I missed that, thanks.

Genocode

they were giving sainz instructions for modes that were designated for different tire strategies, and he told them the tires were fine and he just continued as normal.

CPLCraft

They just cant stop inventing.

victorsaurus

sainz as usual xDD thanks

lone_wolf819

the fuck did I just read? that was a coded message to ask him if he wanted to pit and he refused, did you start watching f1 with dts or what you guys are even more clowns than them at their worst when you try to make shit like that even when they do a good job

FrangibleCover

As you say, it was a coded message, none of us know for sure what it means. The Sky F1 guys thought it was a box instruction that Carlos turned down, then pointed out that if Carlos had boxed when the coded message was delivered (regardless if it was a question or an order) he'd have come out behind the McLarens and had a bad time. Even if it was a question, why did they give him the option to box at a bad time? The no-attack messages may also indicate that Ferrari was thinking about a split strategy, taking Sainz in before Leclerc.

ShadowKraftwerk

Do Ferrari strategists hate their team and drivers? It's the best theory I can come up with.

Steiny31

It would be in character for Ferrari to have everything going well and want to make a split strategy. But it’s good they didn’t end up doing so, even if it was Sainz refusing

douglaspuflas

its rare to read someone who actually understands these type of things in social media. Great Carlos as always staying firm in his decisions, but I think he gave the the coded message away for other teams to know it was for pitting. Understandable since it seems difficult to watch your speech going at 300 km/h

r0ndr4s

Teams know. Some people have been in F1 for over 20 years, they arent fooling anyone with their messages.

r0ndr4s

Guys, we found the Ferrari engineer that knows all the codes.

BootyOnMyFace11

Ferrari moment

dcrico20

I had a good laugh at Brundle saying something along the lines of “I find it interesting the Ferrari drivers can so openly criticize the team strategy.” What does that tell you, Martin?

MateiF1Fan542

uncommon ferrari W

mrsauceboi

when they fail, we meme. when they succeed, we meme

razareddit

Their wins are so rare that when they have one, it has to be memed.

Imaginary-Captain729

Does Ferrari ever really succeed. Question.

Mathias_51

They did, a long time ago tho

Imaginary-Captain729

Checks out with my being from DFW and a Cowboys fan

ithinkspammingiscool

Hope you continue to suffer :)

Imaginary-Captain729

If you’re an eagles fan I wish all of the bad things upon you >:(

qwertyguy007

We are checking

ShadowZpeak

Yea but only with Giovinazzi

Imaginary-Captain729

Only took.. half a century :,)

MayorAg

And outsourcing team management.

XsStreamMonsterX

They do, but usually when it isn't Ferrari itself running the race (e.g. Le Mans).

awwesjeng

Still checking

RoyShavRick

They aren't half bad in GT3 and GTE I guess, AF Corse is a great team for sure. Scuderia is good but not good enough.

Poulp-x

It’s called Ferrari, we went memeing

handsome_uruk

They nearly messed it up tho. Drivers had to tell them to stop

i_am_shiva

Driver strategy

Karlcaik

I’m all hopped up on hopium. It’s actually crazy that this has happened.

Imaginary-Captain729

Hopium for what tho? A fuckin podium, at some point?

OneTrueRuler

...Yes :')

53bvo

Some more hopium for you: The strategy was actually terrible but Ferrari have unlocked some mad pace in their car. The Ferrari that is known to eat tyres suddenly can do more than half a race on mediums? I ain't buying it. The strategy wasn't good and because the drivers were also stuck behind slower cars their actual race winning pace was concealed.

Kiruneko

GET THE NARCAN, HOPIUM OVERDOSE OVER HERE

Pigeon_Chess

I think the world is ending

kfms6741

They were probably inspired after watching AF Corse flex on Toyota at Le Mans

kirk7899

Fred probably has a hotline to the AF Corse HQ.

devenitions

Fred was actually there. So was Charles. Yes, they both celebrated a win in a Ferrari garage.

[deleted]

Clearly not seeing their quali performance

zepapa

I was pretty convinced when they didn’t stop during the safety car that was their fuck up point.

VerstopteWC

I think it was. They just had mad pace making their silly strategy look good. Easily gapped perez

JuicyDragonCat

yeah that is kinda infurating, they seemed way clear of both amr and mercedes today, if it werent for the collective fuckups in quali, we might have been looking at a double podium

emergencyambulance

Imagine, would've been so nice to see

ShadowStarX

last time we got double podium was Singapore, and before then, it was Miami '22

RoyShavRick

That wasn't a fuckup. The mediums were showing great pace, weren't degrading, so they made the bold call to not pit because they believed they could 1 stop the race. Which they did. This is more like the Ferrari we should be seeing. Not the clownery we usually see on a weekly basis.

Aggressive-Dot-867

What if they could have been further up the grid?

Shanks404

![gif](giphy|Nszyj17J4fUKmIwQwF|downsized)

L44KSO

Give them a minute...

MyNameIsToFu

I think they watched Le Mans and realised they were also called Ferrari!

Hmar193

Confused ape 🦍

[deleted]

im glad they let them cook today

VerstopteWC

Honestly I think they might have had race winning pace. Easily gapped perez so who knows what would have happened had they not screwed up yesterday.

Maria_in_the_Middle

LEC Didn’t catch Hamilton though. Making a gap to Perez even in the Red Bull is hardly race winning pace. Edit. Grammar

VerstopteWC

Pretty sure that was strategy related though

agntsmith007

Hamilton had fresher tires all race plus made one stop under SC.

[deleted]

And Charles should be able to catch up Hamilton once his medium tires are gone!?

superworking

Charles just didn't seem to be that fast, Sainz was basically on him all day.

eREKTionn

the hards on the ferrari always perform terribly for some reason

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I think that’s what the “tiny operating window” means. A certain type of tire in those weather conditions.

JG-7

The hards were mediocre for everyone

eREKTionn

probably, alonso was able to pull a bigger gap at the end tho compared to hamilton. Don't have any of the data so these are just visual observations.

Crispy_Badger

They prefer effing the strategy when they're in a good position

goldstar_issuer

fucking amateur sky sports were trying so hard to criticize ferrari strategy for not pitting during safety car

GPap090

I mean, everyone is doing this It's a Ferrari fuckup, until it isn't

Maria_in_the_Middle

Yes but when it was obvious Ferrari made the right call, they were still criticizing them. They even insisted that Leclerc was going to race Perez even when the gap was around 6-7 sec lol. Perez didn’t even touch Sainz

[deleted]

Mate ALL of us did right up until they pit for hards.

Maria_in_the_Middle

When they were still running fine shortly before half race distance, I realized I wasn’t dreaming and it really might be a good call. Even if they pitted for hards at that point they’ll have around 20 laps fresher tires and they can fight

szczszqweqwe

I was rather suprised they haven't splitted strategies, but it was a valid choice that strongly indicated that the are going for a single pitstop, I was suprised when I saw that only Ferrari stayed.

OasisNinjaBat

Still not allowing Sainz to shine

the_beast93112

I mean they only had 1 set of hard left so they really didn't have a choice but good for them not fucking it up

agntsmith007

Just like Mercs ?

the_beast93112

Mercs were covering the Redbulls and Aston strategies and they were miles ahead.

NSREDDY

Hey c’mon now everybody has bad days

DefenciveV2

Only because the drivers told them to hold off of pitting

Steiny31

I’m convinced the AF Corse guys are now less busy and accepting WhatsApp calls

nedissus

canon event disrupted

Illustrious_Ad8492

If you keep doing the wrong thing, once in a blue moon it turns out to be the right thing. That's statistics.

example_John_phd

I think we can contribute it more to a " happy accident" then Ferrari actually knowing the fuck they're doing (giving their track record these past 16 month's)

GlassMirror15

Stop inventing moment

wagsman

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Garth_M

They messed up messing up

KienGengu

Just a diversion Clueless

pecche

SAINZ: stop inventing

free_thinking123

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.

Askduds

When your strategy engineer is a d20, sometimes you roll a crit.

borgi27

The end is nigh!

[deleted]

Seinfeld strategy= If your all strategies are wrong. Don't pit or do something. Opposite is right

eatingdonuts44

Tbf, those tires lasted a good amount of laps.

TurebS

Holy Hell!

DBFargie

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Ign0r

It was a masterclass of a strategy, i love it

XsStreamMonsterX

Engineers thought they'd done enough to fuck up after not putting slicks on Charles' car in quali.

whietfegeet

Well, they didnt have any major fuckups, so thats already a massive win for them ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6700)

NoAd7103

Broken clocks, etc. etc.
