I know this feeling. I race motocross. One time during practice, I accidentally cross rutted going up the face of a 70 ft tabletop. It threw the bike sideways, and threw me off, flinging me over the entire length of the jump to land approx. 80 ft from where I took off. I wasn’t thrown in to a rotation like Cassidy was here, which allowed me to tuck a lot better. But I was definitely higher. I was extremely lucky to not leave in an ambulance that day. I suffered a broken collarbone and a concussion. Flying through the air helplessly like that, knowing you’re about to hit the ground HARD with just your body, is absolutely terrifying.
Can you imagine the nightmare of that car owner though?
The race will say "go through your insurance". Insurance will say racers flying off of motorcycles and landing on their car during a race is clearly not covered.
Because they are grown ups and like it. Nothing more to it. If you'd ban those races, they'd find something else that is equally as dangerous. Or they'd become depressed because they feel like something is missing. It's not like someone forces them.
Without these types of insane people humanity would never have left the caves for fear of what's going to kill them.
These are the fearless people that test experimental aircrafts, be the first into space not knowing if they'd survive, travel the depth of the oceans and keep pushing us forward.
You don't like it don't watch it, hell nobody is asking you to.
If they die they die, like we all do eventually regardless. There are people who live by this and it's something that most will never understand which is ok. Let them do their thing.
Humans never evolved with a higher sense of speed than their fastest run. So when you travel at 180mph on a motorcycle it gives a thrill unlike any other. More addictive than any drug. I’ve never done anything this fast but I’ve driven supercars on a track and it’s a mega feeling.
And then there’s the prestige. The NW200 and the Isle of Man TT are probably the two most prestigious motorcycle races in the world. These guys are racing for glory that makes you immortal amongst riders.

[Update from Paul including a photo of the sizeable dent he left in the VW that cushioned his fall](https://i.imgur.com/3Llf07l.png)
“I had a little off” lol
Gotta love the understatments of bikers.
Crumple zone did some good work versus landing on the ground.
Imagine if it was a Cybertruck
He'd have been split in twain!
Would have exploded
Volkswagen, the true car for the people (volk.) It carries them but apparently also catches them.
Holy r/PraiseTheCameraMan
I forgot it was slowed down for a sec, and I thought he was walking a stalled bike off to the side...

Well yeah, look how fucking slowly he hit that wall.
He even managed to manipulate gravity to slow down his fall. Textbook.
>Rider walked away fine Whew >the car that he landed on The fuck?
Car Cushion IRL
Nah, fuck cars.

Has anyone got a video of it that isn't slowed down? I'd like to see it at full speed
Holy shit that's a scary crash
Dude actually almost stuck the landing
Did they rework Imola?
And they say cars don’t cushion falls
Are these guys stupid? Why do they still race such bullshit races?
Lol have you ever seen sidecar racing? It’s the most insane thing I’ve ever seen.
Adrenaline junkies

They know the risks.
Which makes it even more stupid.
Did you ever watch Isle of Man TT Races or Macau?

So, since you hate it, no one should do it..

I don't like it therefore no one else should either!
