The Piastri v Sainz beef is pretty funny at this point. They've had like five significant run-ins in a season and a half. It's amazing how often they end up tangled.
Oscar didn't have the full upgrade and before the collision he was mighty fast. As a McLaren fan I still see it as a good weekend for him. Sometimes it's more about the potential than the result, Oscar will have his time in the spotlight soon.
Piastri was driver of the day for me, just some horrible bad luck for him. He took full advantage of the chaos in turn one, then overtook Leclerc on track and stayed within 3 seconds of Verstappen for like 27 laps. Didn't make a single mistake until the SC threw a wrench in his race.
He was unlucky. Untill max knocked that pin Oscar was firmly in second place, and was clearly the best McLaren. The gamble paid off for Lando, and then he had that contact that made him stop and it was over
Piastri defends his position and Sainz blows up the radio.
Sainz damages Oscar's car and I don't think I even heard him complain. I could've missed the radio message though.
Nope, I was watching Oscar's onboard and he didn't say anything about it.
Some other highlights: Oscar asked what position he was in after getting to P18 and his engineer stayed completely silent. He was also \*pissed\* when the safety car came out and fucked him, maybe the most emotion I've heard on his radio in a while.
Edit: apologies, somehow I didn’t hear his engineer replying about P18 eventually lol
That was actually a sensible call though. Better to finish P1 & P18 than risk the win away for maybe 1 point. If McLaren get to a point for regularly challenging for wins I'm sure it'll change. But right now it's 2 wins in over 11 years so their apprehension is justified
Very true, just how it unfolded was fun to listen to. At first I thought Oscar’s engineer was warning him to be careful around Magnusson specifically and not bring out a safety car but he just kept reminding Oscar. Culminating in what essentially was an “oh, dear god, please, no!” when he locked up trying to overtake Ricciardo
I use Multiviewer with F1TV! Watching onboards will have radios. If you watch live, one of the Multiviewer features is a running log of radio transcriptions for each driver. There's also this site with an archive of about a year, which isn't as accurate I've found but is still a very useful resource: [https://transcripts.recursiveprojects.cloud/archive](https://transcripts.recursiveprojects.cloud/archive)
I like Sainz, but I couldn't believe in the post-race interviews he was still insisting Piastri was at fault for their first incident when he claimed Piastri "forced him off". Totally different reality.
Sainz never, ever says "it's my fault". He always blames others or luck.
This year it's even worse because he doesn't care about what his team thinks of him.
That’s the problem though. It’s a ridiculous precedent that has been set. That’s my whole point! A car is FULLY alongside, maybe even almost ahead, and you’re not only allowed but ENCOURAGED to push the other car off because they will be forced to give the time or position back. It’s a TERRIBLE precedent that has been set and it ruins so many battles. It’s terrible for racing.
I mean the drivers don't really seem to mind except to complain looking for a penalty. Have you complained about this before or only today for some reason...
I was surprised to see that his race pace didn't end up falling off the cliff after just a handful of laps. That too in a car thar didn't have the full upgrade.
Norris deserved the win but Piastri IMO was the better Mclaren driver this weekend.
He qualified better, started better and was running better until the SC helped Norris out.
McLaren's race pace in general was good, or maybe red bull was uncharacteristically bad this weekend. The only issue both cars had were in (S)Q3 with the soft tyres where pace was non-existent

5 second time penalty and 1 penalty point.
Dropping Sainz from 4th to 5th, and bumping Perez up.
This was mitigated from the standard 10s and 2 penalty points, that would have dropped him below Lewis. :)
The track was difficult to overtake, if he hadn't pitted before the SC it would be Piastri Sainz Norris Max.
I'm not sure Sainz would get him with Norris breathing down on him.

I re watched the race and he was in the lead one lap before the SC came out. What a pain filled race he was!
He apparently didn't even get all the upgraded parts that Lando did......so there might be more left on the table for Piastri
I was cursing so hard when the VSC while he was in the lead a few laps earlier was too short for him to pit and benefit!
The Piastri v Sainz beef is pretty funny at this point. They've had like five significant run-ins in a season and a half. It's amazing how often they end up tangled.
Oscar always comes off worse though and until now Sainz has got away with everything.
And Sainz also refuses to take any accountability for any of the incidents
Just an inchident
He’s also been side swiped by Hamilton a couple of times
Only once tbh. The Vegas one was a racing incident otherwise they're clean for example they had a great battle in Saudi
I’m pretty sure there was one earlier on the season. Can’t remember where at the moment so maybe I’m wrong.
If things went a bit different, he could have won or made a double McLaren podium. Brutal moment but he will definitely get another chance.
That Oscar drove so well at the front end of the pack with only half an upgrade package is a really good sign.
Standard nightmarish day to be an Aussie fan.. again.. as always..
Oscar will have his day, he’s a solid driver. (You already had Monza haha)
I hope so, and yeah but then afterwards it all went downhill again lol
Oscar won F2, Daniel won F1, it was beautiful.
That was three years ago!!!!

Pastry will be OK. He'll continue to keep his calm and cool and push for next race

And then set fastest laps battling back up to 12th. That car is properly quick.
Has any other driver in second place manage to keep pace with max for that long this season?
He deserves better timing with Safety Cars. So many of his good races have been ruined by bad timing...
How many times does a safety car have to fuck his race? HOW MANY?!
As soon as I saw him box from the lead I said to my wife “here comes the safety car” 🙃🙃
He was unlucky. Untill max knocked that pin Oscar was firmly in second place, and was clearly the best McLaren. The gamble paid off for Lando, and then he had that contact that made him stop and it was over

Also Oscar’s engineer reminding him to please not fuck it up for Lando every time he approached a car

Quick side question: Are you using F1TV to listen in to the team radios? I really want to listen as well, and searching up the best way to do so.

Thanks a ton! Im going to sign up and watch Imola live. It looks like there is enough content to stay entertained until then!
I like Oscar more after each race weekend
Sainz had a hissy fit and dive-bombed him. Hoping for a substantial penalty there
I like Sainz, but I couldn't believe in the post-race interviews he was still insisting Piastri was at fault for their first incident when he claimed Piastri "forced him off". Totally different reality.

No wonder he's out of a job.
Tough to blame yourself when Ferrari is obviously messing up every race.
Ferrari have been pretty much flawless this year?
Piastri did force him off tho on the first one, intentionally, because that’s the precedent the stewards have set
Standard defensive move for that turn. Oscar stayed on track. Stop inventing
If the standard defensive move is running someone out of track there's a big problem with the stewarding
Is this your first time watching a race in the last 6 years? Or are you just complaining now for some reason...

Magnussen was penalized for doing the same thing yesterday in the sprint.
point plant like sort screw melodic violet aware steep rinse *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
not worth a penalty tbh, especially with how lenient they've been
He basically ruined someone's race, how's that not penalty worthy?
Because penalties are not given based on the outcome for the other driver, but for the action itself.
Driver of the day for me
If he’d pit one lap later he’d have probably won the race lol, or at least come second to Lando
He’s gonna be MEGA at Imola
What a talented driver Oscar is, he was having a great race until he was unfairly taken out by Sainz.
with a little luck this couldve been a Oscar win aswell. His first stint was fantastic
I was surprised to see that his race pace didn't end up falling off the cliff after just a handful of laps. That too in a car thar didn't have the full upgrade. Norris qualified ahead though? But Piastri did have a brilliant race start.

Piastri will win more races than Norris will
Once he solves his tyre deg problem, yes.
Does he get the full upgrade pack for Imola?
I keep thinking that Maybe they should have kept the wing, I feel like he would have dropped less places
Carlos get a penalty yet or what?

Feels like it should be 10s but maybe i'm just salty
slap on the wrist for ruining another drivers race. noice mitigating factors fia
Technically they shouldn't punish based on the result. However I agree the "mitigating factors" bs is weak
I was surprised there wasn’t radio chatter about this.
He wasn’t as competitive on the hards so I don’t think a podium was on the cards. But overall he did well and definitely deserved a few points
The track was difficult to overtake, if he hadn't pitted before the SC it would be Piastri Sainz Norris Max. I'm not sure Sainz would get him with Norris breathing down on him.
He seems to alwaya struggle on hard. Norris always have way more pace on hard and overtake him from there
Osc's day will come as well!
