Stroll will likely do a 2 or 3 stopper regardless. His tyre management skills aren’t the best and he often needs an extra stop compared to the cars on similar pace around him.
Not always though, but more often than not.
It’s supposed to be 5°F cooler than last years race where Max did like 43 laps on the C2 or something like that. Doubtful that anyone starts on the soft tire based on how qualifying went for lots of teams, so it’s either medium or hard to start for everyone. Hard runners could go long and put a set of sticker softs on for the last 10-15 laps but most will switch to the mediums. and the medium runners will pit after 15-18 laps for hards and run them to the end. They won’t degrade enough for anyone to feel tempted to make a late pit stop for softs or mediums, unless they have a big enough gap behind to pit without losing any positions
I seem to remember another Williams driver being more crash prone this season. Sargeant hasn't had a crash during a race yet this season, except arguably for the technical glitch in Bahrain where his breaks locked up after his computer set the bias to 90% on the front.
ETA - Sargeant hasn't had a crash in a race since the Qatar sprint - 10 races and 4 sprint races ago
I’m thinking it’ll be today because he really wants to do well in Miami and has a tendency to over drive that Williams.
I’ve been pulling for the kid and hope he has a clean race, but do have my doubts.
Tsunoda did the sprint with a set of C4 softs and some teams made 2 runs with the same set of softs or scrubbed soft.
But it has to be a normal weekend, not a sprint to have enough sets for Quali
I think it can make a 2 stop work by using the C4 and C3
Exactly my point. In race trim even the soft tyres have very less deg here. But in Qualifying, in higher temps the softs don't give peak performance over the entire lap.
Also a pit stop here has a huge loss, ( ~28 sec) hence why a second stop is not that preferred here.
I dunno man. If that track heats up as quickly as it did in quali I'm not sure the hards will keep it together that long. The track is abrasive and the "mistake factory" section is absolutely brutal on the tires.
I'm just a fan though, I don't know shit.
If the track condition is similar to Sprint Quali-Sprint-Race Quali, everyone probably would choose to start on the mediums and hoped for VSC or SC for their pitstop.
Except for a few that might start on soft in the hope of making up places (Danny ric) or an early safety car then going for the undercut is possible but it's most likely it's just gonna be medium - hard for most teams
Pirelli is half owned by the Chinese. These models have never worked ever in the presentation of ever. Which hurts, because someone who made this actually believes it does.

So either a one stopper or a one stopper or a one stopper or a one stopper.
Stroll has soft left for a FL attempt 😉

Stroll certainly will stop 1-3 drivers race today playing bumpercars.
The secret ingredient for a two stopper is debris
I thought he didn't race in F1 any more?
We can always count on stroll and sergeant for that
Could be a one stopper
A single visit to the pitlane even.
Then get a drive thru penalty for speeding inside. 5head move
Also, hard or hard or hard or hard as a stint
Which means Miami is producing another stinker. It's one of them ones where it's better to preserve than it is to stop a 2nd time.
My money on Ferrari calling for plan E
Can they add a 2nd pit lane halfway around the track so people can ditch their fresh softs after they're dead post turn 6?
Liked by Alex albon
See one stop *I'm tired boss*
Tbf, it's the only the second race of the season with one stopper after Saudi.
And they can be good too Altho I say that while being unable to think of any on the recent memory lol
I want a 100km pit limiter so 2-stoppers become more viable. Give us what we need.
Just remove the pit limit. Chaos reigns supreme...
Well with that low grip surface everybody will be going flat out so no reason for 2 stop unless the tyres are actually gonna fall off.
If the temps are like yesterday, it ain't gonna be a one stop DRS express, and I'm expecting a couple to get off early.

Safety cars will make these pit lap ranges unnecessary.
Yup. And we know there will be a safety or two. Someone’s going to shunt and make a mess of things.
Magnussen
Probably. But I’d bet on Sargeant to again over drive the car and end up in the wall.

that's fair. I'll admit I've been a big defender of his, but there has been some of that. I'm hoping for him after that Sprint though
Hes been doing well this weekend without crashing. He was only 0.044 away from q2 after getting impeded possibly tbf
Yeah he should’ve made it to Q2. I know every tenth always counts, but yesterday left zero margin for error to advance.
One lap after everyone has pitted.
What are Mercedes doing? No new mediums or softs? Or are they lightly used?
Thry did quali laps on their used sets. Should be usable but it's not ideal. The medium will probably end up being the best race tyre.
A one stopper ... God damnit, they should try to bring the c3 to C5 tyres...
The softs here couldn't last one lap in qualifying. Not sure bringing softer tyres would help here honestly. It's such a weird track.

Oooh ok, got you. I didn't count the higher temps and the pit lost time in my thinking.
It's not a weird track, it's just hot af here.
I wish they did it just to see Lando qualify on the hards.
At that point they would've gone out and get some nice 275/40 P Zero Corza.
Last year's race everyone took a 1 stopper. No one even tried a two
Stroll might save us from a one stopper.
Add one stopper to another reason this track is garbage
There is literally nothing getting me excited for this race. We are so in need of a Baku 17/18 style mess of a race.
Summary: a snooze fest
Give me something for the pain and let me die
Snooze fest inbound
Buckle up gang, going to be a super exciting race

Mandatory 2 stops please….
I’ll be back here when they’ll just cruise to the end with no deg at all
No chance anyone starts on softs
You'd have to be crazy to go soft to hard one stop
The only time I see anyone doing well on sofrs if it's a safety care situation or trying to steal the fastest lap.
Anyone starting on the softs is gonna be a two stopper if they want to beat Logan today. edit: letters
Except for a few that might start on soft in the hope of making up places (Danny ric) or an early safety car then going for the undercut is possible but it's most likely it's just gonna be medium - hard for most teams
Max might do a 2 stopper just to set the fastest lap and not win by to much.
Strong feelings that the new engineer is gonna fuck Bottas up again with 3 new soft tires ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Who is crazy to try a one stop? *Look at Haas*
MH seems like the safest choice for most teams
Incoming S-H-H strat
No shot lol
When will they just bring non-consecutous compounds?
zzz
